"The patch is taking time because of the pandemic" VS "The patch is taking time because of rebalancing everything repeatedly." Which side do you fall under?

This. Like, they're not holding the patch because Kill Command is doing a little bit less damage for Survival Hunters. They're holding the patch because it still need polish, most likely. I bet there's hundreds of bugs getting reported and fixed that we don't see just because they don't datamine that stuff.

hiate

Considering E3 showed how far behind the industry is compared to 2019 I'm still gonna blame the pandemic pushing to them working from home.

Slapppjoness

As someone who works IT and worked IT during the entire pandemic I can tell you the former probably has a huge impact. This past year has been a fucking nightmare

Platinawaifu

Iunno, my bro does software development and he keep saying he gets a lot more done at home than in the office.

0nlyRevolutions

I really don't think they've spent all that much time balancing stuff. The stuff we've seen so far is a totally average amount of balancing for a patch. They were clearly way behind on development of the main features of the patch. Maybe I'd say I'm worried that the time spent tweaking torghast will prove to be time poorly spent.

Jristz

One can say any Time spent reinventing or skin-ning an already existing feature instead of expanding it or looking what failed in it is Time lost

Lassitude1001

I don't see why they'd need to rebalanced more than any other patch (we've had shit loads of systems the last few expansions), so probably just the covid and lack of staff from people leaving or redundancies. Rebalancing in the number tuning sense doesn't take much time when you've got numbers and often gets done a week or so into the patch too.

WyattUrrped

Pandemic. Multiple industries across the world have suffered delays and impacts from COVID. It's the 'simplest' answer. I can appreciate your (general non-specific your) four man help desk job swapped to Telework just fine but let's assume there are a lot more moving parts we're not privy to when it comes to game development. And yes. I want 9.1 just as bad as anybody else - maybe more as I'm still logging in everyday.

Elune

> Multiple industries across the world have suffered delays and impacts from COVID. It's the 'simplest' answer. "The simplest answer is usually correct". While I can see balancing playing a *part* of why it's been delayed the fact Covid's delayed several other things it's likely the major factor in the delay.

krin-

Covid has unquestionably had a very large impact into development. Every single industry has fallen behind due to the complexity of the situation, and there's no reason to assume Blizzard somehow managed to avoid that.

jyuuni

Pandemic, plus option C: The expansion launch date was pushed back for the first time in WoW, so none of the preliminary work that usually happens for patch x.1 during the beta got done.

Xynth22

I think the issue is both. The pandemic situation has slowed things down, but their insistence on adding more to the covenants, as well as additional things on the side, all of which needs to be balanced, certainly isn't helping things.

Starym

There's really no sides here. There's reality and common sense and then people that just want to project their hatred of Blizzard and displeasure of the current systems (regardless if they're right or not). The patch is 100% late cos of Covid AND the fact that it's the biggest 9.1 patch ever. There's nothing more to it if you want actual factual reasons.

MoG_Varos

The patch is taking it’s time because they added superfluous systems that take forever to balance. And the don’t have the stones to sit down and do anything about it so we’re waiting 8 months to get something that will be unbalanced for months.

knomore-llama_horse

Only two. I’m willing to bet there are more than two reasons things are taking longer to build these days. Blame whatever you want… it doesn’t matter because we don’t have any sway in the matter.

WeaponOfMassDenial

A little of column A and a little of column B...

Platinawaifu

I'm probably the only one who isn't looking forward to the next patch cause the process of chores just repeats.

Lazy-Plant-3666

"bUt tHe PaNdEmiCc" God just fuck off already with that absolutely pathetic excuse. Smaller companies all over the world got their shit together, and fast.... blizzard literally have no excuse whatsoever, shut up you absolute npc empty-heads. Jfc...

Alive_Assumption_657

Neither. They delayed the patch so they can get full $$$ from TBC launch. They do it on purpose to get the most amount of subs over the year. Classic and Retail release content based off each other

Slapppjoness

God. You trolls aren't even trying anymore, are you

Both, but definitely leaning toward the latter.
