Short form: They did the cat

Although, it may have distracted the students away from their phones and maybe they actually paid attention!

Ok this has to be a bot right?

AccioSexLife

Guy seems passionate about math and kittens. I approve!

liamnesss

Attachment issues? Seems to be attaching just fine.

brownieofsorrows

Should we rename it into detachment issues?stop upvoting it's not funny ;_;

fruce_ki

That is the issue.

ChriskiV

It's fused into his arm, actually a very dangerous cat. A medical procedure to safely seperate them just hasn't been invented yet. Tragic 🥺 Not to mention how it's melted OPs heart, this is an unprecedented medical emergency and we should really be doing more about it.

DaisyHotCakes

We are Master Blaster! We own fur town!

liamnesss

/s if that's really necessary

fruce_ki

It is not. If you play games, don't be surprised/offended if others play along.

GAireg

So the cat has detachment issues?

MyVillainOriginStory

It’s like “To sir, with love” but the instructor uses kittens to teach some rough young folks about their own humanity (5 stars)

vale_fallacia

I wonder if newer generations are actually more empathetic than older ones? I seem to see way more younger men rescuing animals.

Morgoth98

I think they just feel less and less that they have to "prove" what a manly man they are by not showing feelings or caring about things. Your grandpa probably wanted to rescue kittens too but was too embarassed to do it.

Alexap30

True. Every time I talk about my cat I feel like people think "you are a grown up man why you talk about cats and not women or car or football". I get this look every time. But I wouldn't change my decision (6 years ago) not for a bit.

JanesPlainShameTrain

I've heard a lack of empathy towards animals is a characteristic of psychopathy, so I'm thinking caring deeply about animals points to you being farther away from being a psychopath.

i-will-eat-you

well psychopathy is the inability to feel any empathy at all, not just towards animals. 1/20 people are sociopaths or psychopaths.

DonQui_Kong

not necessarily. anti social disorder is lack of empathy, but that doesn't have to mean they have none at all. empathy is on a gradient, below a certain threshold its considered ASD.

gimletta

My grandpa (born around the 1920s) was a Vet - and a Vet (Veteran AND Veterinarian)! I never met him but from what I've been told he had a gigantic heart and a massive soft spot for animals. He saved lots of animals from being prematurely put down because they were too much work for their owners.

Much-Information6933

This is part of it, but empathy also takes practice. More gender freedom allows people to practice empathy, making them more empathic.

justmovealong738

I never thought of that, I think you're 100% right with more gender fluidity modern men don't feel the need to be manly men all the time because it's okay to be stereotypically feminine

MrsLittleOne

ummm... It's not really about femininity or masculinity. It's about being however you feel. If you want to rescue kittens and build them a a Kitten Cabin out of trees you cut down, awesome. If you rescue kittens and knit them little sweaters to wear while you sit in a recliner in front of a fire, awesome. I will never understand why genitals determine what you may do.

Put-A-Bird-On-It

Here's one perspective: I don't have a dad, but my uncles (in their 60s) have always hated cats. Like one time, my uncle came over and was sitting on the couch and my cat (who is the coolest cat I've ever owned) starts walking towards him to love on him and my uncle gets angry and says "GET YOUR CAT!" And it's not for any good reason, it's because cats aren't "manly", and they don't straight up obey like dogs do. They only like pets they can dominate over. They tried to teach my brother to be this way too, and he almost was for a while because our uncles were his father figures and he listened to them. But as my brother got older, and made friends with guys who not only had cats but were openly affectionate towards them, he realized how dumb hating cats was. We ended up rescuing a pregnant stray and he kept the runt. She would lay on his lap while he was gaming or watching TV, and they were pretty much inseparable. I am now very weary about men who dislike cats, or at the very least don't know how to socialize with a cat. They teach you about consent and empathy. The fact that my uncles only like pets they can rule over and will absolutely obey them is a big red flag to me. I don't speak with any of them anymore, and not because they hate cats, but it was an early indicator that they demand "respect" which in their eyes means "do what I say and never disagree with me." The idea that the type of pet you own could be considered manly or feminine is just so dumb, and thankfully that sentiment is disappearing with each generation.

EchoStellar12

Just read a study on how millennial dads are more involved with raising children and much more likely to do simple parenting tasks like change diapers. Could be. https://www.zerotothree.org/resources/1508-the-next-generation-of-fathers

Redditpornuser3

Turns out the new generation is better than the old huh?

JpillsPerson

Not arguing your point. Just wanted to share that my grandfather used to pick up stray cats all the time. I think they had 7 or 8 at one point. And it wasn't like a hoarder situation. They lived very well. He was just a nice fucking dude that wanted to help animals when he could. I remember him moving a snapping turtle across the road while it was trying to bite his fucking fingers off lol.

TheOneTrueRodd

Pretty sure there has been teachers somewhere in the world in every generation that rescued an animal and brought them into class, but they probably didn't have a classroom full of students packing pocket cameras and a social culture of documenting everything for internet points.

IsBadAtAnimals

They’ve actually studied this quite a bit and it turns out I’m having a hallucinogenic trip from some mushrooms a teenager gave me earlier. 🤠 🤠 h

dubovinius

Lmfao, godspeed brudder

RabbiNitty

Thats because there are more younger men on social media than older men.

lakeviewResident1

No. The younger generation just feels the need to glorify every act. Some probably only do nice things if they can be recorded doing it. Empathy is hard taught these days. Pre internet era you'd save a cat or a dog and move on because that is just what you do.

linuxgeekmama

Or maybe they took pictures and posted it because it’s a kitten, and they know that one of the key purposes of the internet is to let people see cat pictures. I would have wanted to see a picture like this in pre-internet days, but I had less opportunity for it.

Z0rya

There’s less testosterone in newer generations than older.

DeepSeaDarkness

'Maths sir'?

Sapt007

In India teachers are called Sir/Madam/Ma'am

FreddieDoes40k

England/most of the UK does this too. Teachers are Sir or Miss (sometimes Ma'am), but this is just when addressing them directly. Never in this context. Cultural similarities/differences are fascinating.

Nondescript_Redditor

I mean, everywhere you can call someone sir or ma’am when addressing them directly. That’s not the same as “math sir” being a noun on its own.

adamMatthews

In England we do it in 3rd person too. “Sir gave us homework yesterday” or “Miss is very strict about uniform” would be phrases you hear school kids say.

aloofloofah

"Bossman gave me extra doner meat"

Outypoo

Good boss mans really make you feel loved though. Getting an extra wing or strip on your burger for no reason other than he felt like being nice

humblenoob76

bossman is a name of respect

indian_hannibal

Philippines?

brownieofsorrows

Would you really say that instead of Miss Smith is very strict ?

adamMatthews

As a school child, yes. As an adult, no. And even if it was Mrs Smith, you would still call her “miss”.

abstractedamnestic

Eh, it varies. My schools never used those terms and just called teachers Mr/miss/Ms whatever, and I went to a Grammar School (entrance exam school) that was very strict. I teach now though and I've seen both versions. Generally the schools that use 'Sir' are ones I don't have much interest in teaching in due to differences in how I think education should be approached and how those schools do it.

Updateplease

But you'd never say your maths sir, you'd only use it if context inferred the sir or miss you were talking about. Which is interesting compared to the above usage.

transmogrified

imagine calling them your maths mister

charlie1337

math daddy

Western_Fig93

PEMDAS Papi

ReaDiMarco

BODMAS boi

wye2kay

The "Sir" is a mark of respect. The respect is expressed even when referring to the person by adding sir. Think of "sir" as a adjective denoting respect in this context.

ReaDiMarco

Nah, it's a noun replacing 'teacher'. How is it even an adjective in this sentence. Math teacher did this. Math sir did that. Math mam did that. Noun bruh.

wye2kay

Your boss Nick would be referred as Nick Sir. So you could tell your coworker "Nick sir told me to tell you to..." It is not restricted to teachers. The kid is not using the teachers name as a easy way to indicate maths teacher

ReaDiMarco

Bhai mere, I understand how it's used. I'm commenting on what part of speech it is. It's a noun.

AnargisteAfrikaner

English schools in South Africa will also use Sir/Miss when talking to the teacher, and some people will use it when talking about them. I coached field hockey to u/11 girls and it took me months to get them to stop calling me, a 17yo at the time, sir. "Coach" also made me feel like I was some super important person but I gave up trying to get them to stop that

Not_Steve_Harrington

Same in Malaysia. But I think its one of the few remnants of the English colonialism.

Blade_982

Came here to say the same thing. Also took me back to my secondary school days and answering the register by just saying "sir" or "miss" when your name was called.

Sorcha16

Same in Ireland. Well atleast in Dublin anyway.

Jerkalerka

Isnt madam and ma’am the same thing? Also, isnt ”miss” a single woman? As in Ms vs Mrs.

our_tandoori

There are a lot of things India picked up from the British. For example, Indians call the elevator a lift just like the British.

[deleted]

[удалено]

JanklinDRoosevelt

Definitely the other was round lol

Sapt007

Most probably the other way round

DannyMThompson

So you think that the UK... Who invented English, learned to call their teachers "Sir" from India? We will refer to a teacher as a teacher, but in person it is "Sir" as a mark of respect. So this is a "Maths Teacher" but if he was teaching me, I would call him sir. It's been this way for centuries. What you are seeing in this image is broken English. Improperly translated as Indian people teach Indian people a foreign language. Never would an English person say "Maths Sir" as Sir is not synonymous with teaching, it usually just means "Man I respect".

rickyjames22

Vety true. Shows respect for the other person.

Pece17

In my country, we address them as "teacher" or by their first name/preferred calling name.

Flaky_Instruction341

Can be pakistan as well.

In Pakistan we call teachers sir and ma'am (know this is Pakistan because I saw this on Twitter and OP is from Pakistan)

oohkt

I came to the comments for the maths sir confusion as well

DanV_Rev9

We call it maths in Australia. It’s because there’s more than one math.

IsBadAtAnimals

Well obviously there is more than one math, there are millions. I once read that if you weigh all the maths on Earth they would weigh more than every other creature combined. I might be thinking of ants
