Loved and hated at the same time
Right!? I hated the darn thing but couldn't stop playing with it.
It's like you get one in and
The worst is when you blow too hard and one or more drift back off.
Throw it down....come back 10 minutes later and pick it up again. Hated that thing.
Yup, then repeat ad nauseum
The best part was that you could throw it down and have it still work afterwards.
GET ON THE FUCKING THING
-me playing that game
Guess is that the doctors told you " play this" and then you became very engrossed in it. Then suddenly they gave anesthesia but you were so irritated that you did not notice it.
Immediately you felt a little change in your brain , a little woozy and then went into a deep sleep. You think that you dream - but you don't , cause unconscious - no subconscious. You get up, you see that the game had felt out of your hand and overturned initially and then apparently the thing was kept next to you with the thing solved. The parents and doctors told you that you had solved it and you succeeded and you were happy about it - The doctors were happy for saving a life - they told you that "Don't waste it , don't waste your life".
And years later you are here - on reddit - giving so much information about something - without context - leading to people coming up with weird imaginative concepts and situations with infinitesimal odds -after searching the real spelling of "infinitesimal" and realising that there was an i between s and m - and hoping that nobody puts r/suspiciouslyspecific in the comments- by a person not being able to keep behind the Iron Man references.
Is this the legacy of the great u/lbaxtervcxgvdaf!
My childhood game, so many memories with this. I got easily pissed whenever I can`t transfer that circle in the other side. I really love this game and I miss it.
Ever had any of those fucker leak water in ur bag ?
Relatable. I left it on my laptop and it got wrecked
Whoa !!! you had a laptop back then?? Thats crazy
Ye, it was a pretty cheap and old one my mom gave me
Needless to say she was real mad when she knew what happened
I've had one ever since I could sit upright.
Laptops were invented at that time? Lol.
For a real trip, google the word 'Luggable' for the precursor of the Laptop.
You had a laptop in the late 70s/ 80s?
Why are you acting like these weren't a thing in the 90's? 😂 I had tons of these water-game things.
Because this isn’t a toy that defines the 90s. It’s been around for ages.
People just post any shit on here now, regardless of decade. It’s mostly „hey look, I personally had that at some point…“
I was asking my hubby if he had one growing up- he did, yeah 80s🙃. I said do something similar tanks for the memories
The bloody last ring that would never get in, so you’d blow that little bit harder in frustration, and rings would start to fall from the pole…
20 urs and I’m still not pver it, idk if you can tell
I only loved it when I was just enjoying the rings flipping around.
My friend broke one of these that belonged to his brother and drank the water. I cried because I thought he was going to die.
Did he at least shit himself? I always assumed these things were filled with third-world diarrhea water.
Man, I don't remember, I was like 8. He was probably sick, at least a little bit. I remember the water smelled like burnt plastic.
I always wanted to drink the blue water in my magic 8 ball
Don't let your dreams stay dreams
I bet there's a way to make an edible 8 ball. A giant jawbreaker for the little thing with the answers, some highly dense sugar water for the "blue water," and the 8 ball itself is a hollowed out jawbreaker with a chocolate shell.
I don't know if it would be shelf stable, but you could make most of it beforehand, fill it with the blue water, a little piece of sugar glass to seal it, and I bet you could ask 2-3 questions with it before eating it.
Do it Edison
Should I eat you? Reply hazy, try again later.
My sources say no.
The ones I had you could dump and refill.
Anyone have the pen version?
Wacky water writer, sometimes it’s a pen, sometimes it’s a game, filled with water you put in, one ring two rings three you win!
They mostly sucked but I still remember the commercials!!
I had the pen with the lady that got naked when you turned it over.
Ours had a removable plug in the top so you could refill or, in my case, drink the water.
I remember at least one afternoon of running around outside with this thing taking the occasional sip.
Baby's First Hip Flask.
isn't it filled it with oil and antifreeze like snow globes
Omfg! That friend sounds either metal or like he might be on some FBI list today. Or... Both.
Holy shit the memories
When I was around 8, after a frustrating month trying to get all the rings in, I finally just jimmied the top open, emptied the water and “solved” the game manually.
I then refilled it and glued it back up, so I could show my parents that I finally beat it. They didn’t give a shit. Same with everyone else I showed.
a virtual hug to your inner child
that deserved at least one "yeahhhh!" even if you cheated
Yeah, maybe they just don't know how hard it actually is
Maybe they knew you were a cheater cheater pumpkin eater.
Jk this story actually made me really sad for some reason.
That thought had crossed my mind. But that would have warranted more of an eye-roll reaction from them. Instead what I got was 100% pure distilled uninterest that barely warranted a half-second glance at my duplicitous accomplishment.
I bet if you told them *how* you did it they would’ve been way more impressed lol
Oh man, the shit we could get into when we had tons of time and no jobs or responsibilities, eh?
Those were the days.
Did the same except everything is turned into smithereens. Cause: Rage.
Edit: And I was also curious on how it worked.
may the spite guide your way
The Kobayashi Maru technique. Commendable.
That sounds actually more impressive in the sense that you solved it ignoring the commonly accepted rules.
I took a Rubicks Cube apart and put it together solved. Same results.
Missing the memories! take me back to my childhood.
old memories but gold. I miss it
I turn 50 tomorrow so, yes, thanks for reminding me I’m this old.
Hey, it's not just old people! Why I'm only 35 and remember these.
35 is still young, right?
Edit: enough about me, happy early birthday!
Edit 2: See?! I'm exactly the same as the teenagers! Still young!
I'm 17 and remember these XD
I'm 13 and I remember these.
I’m 6 and a half and I remember these
I'm 3 and a quarter and I remember these
I'm 2 and an eighth and I remember these
I'm a zygote and I remember these from my spermatozoa days
I'm 19 and I remember these
Im 18 and i own one
Although its broken
I'm under half that and I remember these
Lol, I'm pretty sure anyone who puts "Edit 2" on their posts is at least 25 and been on Reddit for at least 10 years.
Are you calling the 50 yo old?? Broooooo. 😂
50 is still young never mind 35.
Happy early birthday!
I'm 16 and remember these lol
Remembering these things must be getting difficult for you now.
happy birthdayyyyyyyyy you harlot, you!
We share the same day! Will be 47. I remember :)
I just turned 48 and I don't feel old.
Maybe when I'm a 50yo geezer, though.
13, and i remember this.
Welp your old now. You should get a life insurance policy now.
(hey but seriously start literally investing in your future early even if it's just a savings account)
Yup, at the doctors office
Yes! Mine was at the dentists, but I’m so glad I’m not the only one who recognizes it from a doctors office :)
I remember it from the dentist too! I would play with it while I had to wait during fluoride treatments.
Yep, my dentist had these, too. He eventually added a TV with a Nintendo, as well.
Yeah, dentist office. She had some cool ones like the clown and the barrel. Years later my mom finally got me a basketball one, it was awesome.
My family's dentist still has these, I have never seen one outside of a handful of dentists' offices though.
Dentist office for me. I can feel the flouride tray in my mouth as I look at this.
How is this wholesome? This make me feel old and I am only 29. ｡:ﾟ(;´∩`;)ﾟ:｡
I am that old and recently superglued a small crack in the one we had that was still sitting on a shelf at my parents house. Now it holds water again my young nieces and nephews can play with it.
Wow this legitimately gave me flashbacks to my open heart surgery when I was 8 years old.
Damn, can't believe they kept you awake during your surgery
They kept her distracted with the water rings game while they operated.
26 and I remember these
22 and I remember these
It's because they're still around. My guess is the person who made original graphic meant this to mean people who grew up before portable video gaming devices (they'd be in their 50s now and older), portable mechanical games like this were the closest equivalent they had.
This isn't even that old yet? I keep seeing these posts about things that were from/ still around in the early to late 2000s. Which isn't even old?
Millennials like to pretend they have a monopoly on 90s nostalgia without realizing a lot of it bled into the early 00s.
FWIW I’m a millennial and was really hoping my generation wouldn’t get roped into the generational crap but I see it creeping in every once in a while.
Millennials aren't even old yet! I just don't get how remembering a basic and common multi-generational toy like the water ring toss makes you old, lol
Like I saw a picture saying remembering the Purple Place game means you're old. That came out in 2007!
I haven't seen one of these in ages.
Oh the memories! The beautiful memories of being bored out of my mind and having nothing else to play with. Those were the days😢🥺
Dang I'd forgotten about these
I didn’t feel old until I thought about how many years have gone by since i’ve played with one of these
These and those bubble things. Where you'd put the color you'd want on the stick and blow it. My childhood man.
Oh that weird plastic stuff. I'd completely forgotten about that until now.
How to ruin a car's interior 101.
Speaking from experience.
I remember being obsessed with these
I cheated alot by tilting
I'm like 13 and even I remember having this
i am its the original rage game
Do you guys remember the things at Taco Bell that you threw coins in and tried to get free quesadillas
I am that old
I can still hear the whooosh
I used to play on this in the basement while my cousins diddled me.
Bitch I’m 12 and I loved this shit
Smells like old plastic and dirty fingers.
They make the best distraction when you need a quick break from work.
Always thought it was impossible to get them all on.
Omg I remember when I got mad at that
What is this?
Yes my oldness is here
I too remember the best part of going to the dentist.
Get off my lawn and take that floaty ring game with you. I hated that game!!
Only at the dentist's and my babysitter.
Except the babysitter never filled it up with water because one of the other shitty kids kept prying the plug off and dumping the water out in the middle of the room.
Dang, we didn't have video games back then.
Yes, i am, i am that old
This transports me back to my bedroom when I was 11 years old
Yes I am. I had a tic-tac-toe one. It was one of my favorite toys.
I am even older, before they put a protection in the water filling hole, because some kids would put a stick in and place the ring in the pins without using the water ejection button.
Thanks for remind me how old I am when I haven’t even 1/5 of my life yet
Now that’s gaming!!
Yes I had 5 different ones
Holy shit I am that old!
Oh wow memory lane
God damn yes I am. Cursed thing.
Yup. Had one.
They still make them. My 9 year son won one at the arcade. It broke and he missed it so much that next time he went back he got another one.
Heck I am not. But I am old enough to remember Skylanders Giants (still have it) and some of the older Wizard101 models.
Yes i am. And I’d love one of these games for my kid - do they still make them?
Did anyone else have their siblings take it from you when you were “taking too long” and flip it upside down ruining all your hard work or are my sisters just assholes?
Lol yes… fuck
New old memories unlocked
I remember getting these at the dentist after I got my teeth cleaned! I was pretty young so I would try to play it, give up and start shaking it, and eventually it will find its way into my mouth
I was like-
5 or 6, I didn’t quite grow out of the ‘putting everything in your mouth” phase at that time-
I feel attacked.
I think I had a cowboy one? Not that old though, think I had it 20-25years ago
I’m not old at all and I’ve seen those many times
Yes, yes I am.
Fuck this game
Man, I loved these! At 3 or 4 years old I felt so accomplished even making one in lol. I thought I was bad ass.
I loved playing it, but wasn't that good.
Man, don't make me feel old, i had one of those and am just 16
I remember those lol
Im 14 but not from a great place so yeah i still remember this!
Yes. I'd like a business card sized print of this to give to people when they ask me my age. This is how old I am.
Had these motherfuckers in the dentist's office
Me just flipping it up and down:
I'm only 16 don't make me feel old
I would waste so much time playing with these ;;
Not quite, I had a Ninja Turtles one with where instead of rings you had a basketball that you would try to get into hoops
Man. Took me back with that one.
I have one sitting on my desk with all the rings on the pegs
It’s currently on my coffee table where it bewilders my guests… *Fun fact: My younger brother & I used to pop the plastic triangular plug & take drinks of the water… no, really*
My local headshop still sells these kind of toys. And the ones with the water and a colored liquid of different viscosity where you tip it back and forth and it has bubbles flowing from one side to the other… I also got a cute magnet thing with little metal rockets that you can shape weirdly by pulling on them/smashing them. I use it for paper clips now at work haha. But yeah some places still have these old fidgety toys.
I had one with dolphins in it - you had to get the rings onto their noses
Thats so frustrating and therapeutic simultaneously
This unlocks a good memory.
I'm 18 and remember that perfectly, why old?
fuck! I am this old!
I lost hours of my life per day just playing with this stupid thing
Jesus I haven’t thought about that game for about 30 years.
I am that old….🤣🤣🤣🤣 forgot all about this until you brought it up.
I was poor too.
That thing was a frustrating mess!
Dentist waiting room... :/
Time for a true display of skill
Waterful Fishful was better.
Yes. I am, in fact. Every day until the streetlights came on, I rode my bike without a helmet, drank water from the hose, and played outside.
