Not to mention he took his divorce well. He has no hatred for his ex and still loves his daughter even when she doesn't live with him. A divorce can affect a child a lot but he made sure that it wouldn't affect her.
yeah charlene and doof were amicably divorced and even were kinda friends during the show, ti was actually nice to see. charlene also never believed vanessa saying doof was bad and always stuck up for him. they clearly just grew apart and separated, no bad feelings
Especially when every episode has him creating some convoluted scheme and invention to get back at his brother or from the trauma his parents gave him. And not a single one of those is ever directed at Charlene.
Not even just unintentionally you have to actively fend of the strange coincidences of repeated scenerios of things you werent even aware of at the time happening in the prior cycle. Its some sort of karma star wars type bullshit
It definitely holds up, & if you're even a little emotional, start now and rewatch every couple of years. The older they get, the harder it is to watch without crying. 10/10 would recommend
Might make you cry. It's one of those, like the Rugrats, where when you're a kid you identify with the kids but as an adult you identify with the parents.
Ohh man I haven't watched the Rugrats movie in sooo long. Have no idea what the parents do in that movie except prob trying to save the kids in some way but don'tremember how.
That's basically all they did in the movie, but their dialogue was hilarious. Stu saying, "hang on, my tax deductible is crying" when baby Dil starts wailing.. lmao
The show though, they were pretty lousy parents sometimes, for not watching their kids, but some episodes had me like damn. Stu again, making chocolate pudding at 4am for an injured Angelica, "I've lost control of my life..."
I just watched a goofy movie a few months ago and it held up so well. I'm on my way to my 30s now but that movie had me super invested. It's amazing how relatable it is both as a rebellious child and as a father that will do anything for their kid.
I want to be more like goofy.
I mean, Della Duck laid eggs. As for the identity of "Mr. Duck", he was likely killed by Huey, Duey, and Luey. The original reason for the RGB trio to show up at Donald's door was their father was in the hospital after the boys startled him with firecrackers. It may be that the boys killed their father by triggering a heart attack or stroke, and so they never mention him by name as a way to keep up the thin charade that one day he might come home - lest the duck nephews be driven to madness from the guilt.
I’m shocked it took this long the name to show up. He built and entire haunted house so that his daughter who’s never scared can get the fright of her life. That’s dad goals right there.
He got his legs waxed to support his eldest daughter who was scared of how much it would hurt.
He overcame his fear of pooping in a public bathroom so his younger daughter wouldn't miss feeding the sharks at the aquarium.
He admitted to his son that he, Bob, handled a situation the wrong way and complimented his son on the way he handled it maturely.
Bob is an awesome dad!
Going to comic con with Tina and dressing up as a horse is god tier. The reason I like Bob is that he’s very imperfect and can absolutely be done with his kids and not do the little things, but can also give everything when something is important to them.
The latest episode with Tina and the cool kids was parental goals too. They all support the shit out of Tina’s weird ass, but bob especially cause he knows what it’s like to be the outcast where as Louise, gene and barb are all comparatively super confident in being themselves despite how polarizing and odd they can all be. For a show that was about a cannibal family feeding their victims to customers it’s turned out to be a great lesson in supporting one another and being comfortable with who you are and what you want. Also maybe one of the few shows that hasn’t dipped in quality over 10 seasons. I honestly don’t even see how you end it cause their adventures are mundane enough to go forever and not get boring like king of the hill was.
I wouldn't say he's the best father around in media, but he's one of the best realistic takes on being a dad. He has lots of flaws and has messed up a lot, but he cares, which is what matters.
Not to mention all the game ideas. My daughter loses her mind for dance mode. And we play “kids” and “work” pretty regularly. She’s not strong enough yet for rag doll, but I’m looking forward to that one.
Reddit demographics? Because Bluey is fairly recent I’d say it may not be on the radars of a lot of under25s - they won’t have nostalgia for it themselves, and younger siblings are a bit too old for it too. I’m not really someone who subs to any of the parenting subs but apparently that show is considered god-like there, probably for good reason.
Probably a lot of these responses are childless young adults who are to old for bluey and don’t have kids ye to watch it. So they reply with the fathers they grew up watching and longing for, versus the true best dad who makes all dads want to be better.
I’m an adult and don’t have kids, and Bluey is one of my favorite shows.
It’s like Peppa Pig but with authentic interactions. I think more ppl would watch it if they’d heard about the show since it’s just starting to catch on.
We see one day of Mufasa's parenting and then he gets merc'd. Seemingly most of Simba's poo parenting is done by Zazu, who himself doesn't seem to think Simba has been raised very well.
Clearly Mufasa, either by claiming the monarchy or by not effectively maintaining security, has placed his family in mortal peril. Hell, the individual who presents said danger had ample 1 on 1 time with the boy despite giving out big "don't let this man near kids" vibes.
I mean, Simba spends most of his youth a homeless teen orphan doing hard bugs with the old men he met in the woods. I don't think that's good parenting.
They are supposed to be the direct counterpoint to the "suburban American nuclear family" - so the husband and wife are still passionately in love with each other, and love and accept their kids
This realization alway makes me think of a Mark Twain quote:
“When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”
Now that I work with teenagers as a teacher and see how distorted their priorities and understanding can be from reality it makes me realize how ridiculous I probably was as a teenager.
Seriously, I remember thinking high school essays were the end of the world and I refused to do them. I hated my English teachers so much for constantly telling me to turn something in. All I wanted to do was play video games. Now I can write those same essays in less than an hour and wish I could go back and slap some sense into myself.
Yeah I had the same problem. Now I get like 20 letter of recommendation requests all do at the same time and I’m like oh suddenly that 4 page paper seems easy lol.
Hell being a lotr obsessed fan I probably write comments in the Tolkienfans subreddits longer than some papers I’ve turned in.
My pick. Absolutely unconditional love.
His kids could have turned out to be incorporeal portals to hell vomiting forth unspeakable atrocities and pull the curtain on our reality, and Gomez would just be standing there smoking a cigar, sipping scotch, saying "Go get'm, sport!"
Harry Mason from Silent Hill. He went hell and back for his daughter who wasn't biological his and he did all he could to protect Heather from the Cult and give her a normal life.
Still very salty they replace his role in the movie, just because the director thought a man wouldn't go through all of that for his kid.
In the movie they switched the role of a father looking for his daughter into a mom looking for her daughter, all because the director thought a father wouldn't go through the effort of looking for their child.
Jim is good, but definitely has his flaws as well. He’s pretty much a workaholic, he cheats on his kids’ mom, and is overprotective of Barbara and refuses to let her become a cop which leads her down the path of becoming batgirl. But he does really care for his kids and it’s important to mention that (in most continuities I think) Barbara is his niece that he took in as his own.
Overall does his best, but I wouldn’t call him the best for that.
Cell: It's alright kid, I'll save your dad for last. Hear that, Piccolo?
Piccolo:...I mean if you're just gonna go ahead and say it...
Goku: I don't get it?
The newest Dragonball Super movie also confirms that he's an awesome grandfather for Pan, too.
Bad guys coming after Pan? Well, time to become Solid Snake and foil their whole organization.
It’s funny everyone only ever mentions his roles as a dad in TLOU and Mando but he also played the dad of one of the kids in that terrible sharkboy and lavagirl sequel (well I suppose it being a terrible movie explains why nobody mentions it)
Me and my dad would be so much closer if he would come out and fight the man sometimes.
I'm so disappointed in all the old poser hippies who went on to become authoritarians. In hindsight, he was clearly only ever into it for the drugs, free love, and political excuse to be shiftless.
Doofenshmirtz. (he is the best dad considering how terrible his childhood was and how he took care of his daughter)
Not to mention he took his divorce well. He has no hatred for his ex and still loves his daughter even when she doesn't live with him. A divorce can affect a child a lot but he made sure that it wouldn't affect her.
[удалено]
A true power couple.
Closest he got to hostility was wondering what she was doing at the family reunion for his side of the family
“I kept the name”
Weren't they divorced for tax reasons or something like that
That was the other universe
Probably one of... ALL THE CONVOLUTED REASONS WE PRETEND TO BE DIVORCED
yeah charlene and doof were amicably divorced and even were kinda friends during the show, ti was actually nice to see. charlene also never believed vanessa saying doof was bad and always stuck up for him. they clearly just grew apart and separated, no bad feelings
hard to hate a hot chick that married you, and gives you a fat check every month to fund your 'hobbies', though.
Dunno seen plenty of people manage it.
Especially when every episode has him creating some convoluted scheme and invention to get back at his brother or from the trauma his parents gave him. And not a single one of those is ever directed at Charlene.
Poor dudes parents did even show up to his birth
Like how do you ever do that they did it just to avoid his birth
Especially commendable since a lot of children from traumatic or plain bad childhoods tend to, most often unintentionally, repeat the cycle.
Not even just unintentionally you have to actively fend of the strange coincidences of repeated scenerios of things you werent even aware of at the time happening in the prior cycle. Its some sort of karma star wars type bullshit
The ocelots raised him well
Yea. It’s pretty obvious that Doofenshmirtz loves Vanessa
The episode about Vanessa's birthday is Exhibit A
Better represented dad
[удалено]
Bit overbearing though. Still 100% better than his parents. Lol mother not showing up to his birth.
I felt it was more of him wanting to be involved in his daughter's life, which is really nice of him.
and when vanessa told him to back off, he actually did try to back off and let her have her privacy

Goofy
A Goofy Movie really hits different 30 years later
“The blackest movie of all time”
Thomas Washington was a visionary!
I have a 7 month old son and I’m afraid to rewatch it lol
It definitely holds up, & if you're even a little emotional, start now and rewatch every couple of years. The older they get, the harder it is to watch without crying. 10/10 would recommend

I rewatched it recently and it still holds up
One of the most underrated Disney movies ever made.
Yup, Thomas Washington did his thing with the Goofy movie
Went back to college to support his son 👌
And he was a single father
Did they ever talk about what happened to the mom? Or was that too intense for a Disney film? Been forever since I’ve seen it
I vaguely remember something saying the mom died, from the original goofy movie
I just watched a goofy movie a few months ago and it held up so well. I'm on my way to my 30s now but that movie had me super invested. It's amazing how relatable it is both as a rebellious child and as a father that will do anything for their kid. I want to be more like goofy.
Goofy fucks?
No, he GUH-Huks
He and Pluto are the only ones to have cannonicky fucked
Goofy's neighbors Pete and Peggy had kids too. Granted they're not exactly part of the "main Disney cast."
I mean, Della Duck laid eggs. As for the identity of "Mr. Duck", he was likely killed by Huey, Duey, and Luey. The original reason for the RGB trio to show up at Donald's door was their father was in the hospital after the boys startled him with firecrackers. Absolutely Goofy.

Bob Belcher is in the running.

I have that on a T-shirt it’s one of my fav quotes of his cause it’s so bloody true
Any episode with the old people from the art store... Also, shut your mouth... It's art crawl.
He shaved his mustache just so the boy his daughter likes would be at her birthday party.
Going to comic con with Tina and dressing up as a horse is god tier. The reason I like Bob is that he’s very imperfect and can absolutely be done with his kids and not do the little things, but can also give everything when something is important to them.
Also drove a cab to save enough for his daughters birthday party.
*Looking up the skirt of the night*
Oh hi Marshmallow
**Hey, baby**
Favorite Archer cold open.
WHEN WOULD I HAVE TIME TO GAMBLE, LIN?!
The six hours at night I get to sleep? Because the other 18 hours I'm slaving over this hot grill!
I love the belcher kids in the archer animation looking extra dumpy and sad was a great touch too
The latest episode with Tina and the cool kids was parental goals too. I love you but you’re all terrible (I love bob)
at what you do, here, I feel like I should tell you, I’d fire all of you if I could [Bob!](https://youtu.be/AWF4lHLltyo) alright* hands in.
I wouldn't say he's the best father around in media, but he's one of the best realistic takes on being a dad. He has lots of flaws and has messed up a lot, but he cares, which is what matters.
Bob never makes the same mistake twice, except for crack. He maybe tried it and if he did he liked it.
The only people who can hate bob is because they hate seeing a man with hope.
First thing’s first, RIP UNCLE PHIL 🙏🏿❤️
For real, you the only father that I ever knew
If I get my bitch pregnant imma be a better you
Prophecies that I made way back in the VILLE, fulfilled
Didn't him and Will have a whole ass moment after that episode with his dad? Dude just genuinely broke down at the end of it.
["How come he doesn't want me?"](https://youtu.be/PI4Mv8R0mE0)
That episode hit right in the feelings
It’s hard watch it without sheeting a tear. Some of us had that feeling too which make it hurt even more.
How to make a person cry in the middle of the day. Damn this harder than when I watched this with my parents during Nick-At-Nite
Bandit from Bluey. Myself. My brothers. The other who commenteds dad. Mufasa.
It’s Bandit and it’s not even close. Dad goals for sure.
I love bandit because he’s a realistically fantastic dad. He doesn’t want to get out of bed etc but always does for kids.
Not to mention all the game ideas. My daughter loses her mind for dance mode. And we play “kids” and “work” pretty regularly. She’s not strong enough yet for rag doll, but I’m looking forward to that one.
And was hung over after new years but still acted as the boat.
Yay, my wife and I are convinced the show is not actually for kids, but secretly a how-to for parents.
From what I've read thats how the show was originally conceived. The network suggested making it a kids show too
Not only is Bandit an outstanding example of a Dad, he’s an outstanding example of a husband. I love Bandit, he’s such a great role model.
Yes, Bluey deserves all the attention it currently has, and even more.
It’s honestly like if Pixar wrote a TV show. It takes special talent to write comedy that hits 3 year olds and 30 year olds the same way.
All. The. Awards.
How is Bandit Heeler not far and away the top comment?!?!
Reddit demographics? I'm actually jealous of a cartoon Dogs parenting skills, it's ridiculous.
Probably a lot of these responses are childless young adults who are to old for bluey and don’t have kids ye to watch it. So they reply with the fathers they grew up watching and longing for, versus the true best dad who makes all dads want to be better.
They should watch Bluey anyways, 10/10 show
For real, I’ll keep watching looooong after the kids have fallen asleep.
I’m an adult and don’t have kids, and Bluey is one of my favorite shows. It’s like Peppa Pig but with authentic interactions. I think more ppl would watch it if they’d heard about the show since it’s just starting to catch on.
Bandit has legit made me a better dad. Never be too busy or tired to play with your kids. They won't be kids forever.
Bandit is too damn real in my life. I love imaginative play with my two girls.
Came here to make or up-vote this comment. Bandit makes me feel guilty as dad for not being as cool.

“doing hard bugs”
The dad from Addams family. The parents actually love each other and care about their kids. And people think the Addams family is one of the worst?

my dad's pretty damn amazing tbh, I just didn't see it at first

Same! My dad is the best goddamn wingman ever!
That's always the case. Mine died when I was 16. I hope my kids realise as a parent we try our best before I die.
Gomez Addams.

If we're counting fatherly figures, not just dads, I'd have to give it to Uncle Iroh and Uncle Phil.
Iroh should count. He was technically a dad until.. yeah.
I mean…not that good of a dad then. But as a father figure to zuko he was great.
Bandit from Bluey, fight me
The people who don't agree with this just don't have kids yet, if you've watched Bluey with your kids you know Bandit is amazing.
Yeah he gives me a bad name
He gives bandits a good name though
I don't have kids and 100% agree. Bandit is the best frigging dad I've ever seen!
Bandit makes me feel like a bad dad… and I think I do a pretty damn good job.
Same tbh, I don't wanna toot my own horn but in terms of dads I think I'm pretty solid, but that guy fuckin kills it every damn day.
Hands down
I'm with you. Fight US!
He has so much energy and patience. I get dad-jealous
Bandit will fight you, but you have to pick what animals you'll each pretend to be first.
This is what I came for.
was hoping to see this comment, Bandit it the best dad no comparison.
Harry Mason from Silent Hill. He went hell and back for his daughter who wasn't biological his and he did all he could to protect Heather from the Cult and give her a normal life.
