Do you have a charger? Charge it up... hopefully someone calls you to make arrangements. * Does the device have a password? If not, look at the contacts and call history to see if you can find friend that may be able to help return the phone. * give Mobi a call.... https://www.mobibikes.ca/en/contact-us The owner may be trying to contact them for the phone. Mobi may also have a history on who rented the bike previously.

Charge it and turn it on. If there's any luck they've put it into lost mode and the phone will receive a message with instructions to return it to its owner. The other options in the thread are also viable.

Burner-Bee

Charging it and answering it has never failed me.

1. Charge it up, ask siri "who does this phone belong to?" or to call 'home' or 'mom' 2. Apple Store 3. Take their sim out and put it into your phone to get the number. If it's active still see if anyone calls. if it's inactive, they're likey replaced their sim card and you can use your phone to call that number. I'd do #3 just because I'm a tech nerd.

Depending on the phone you're putting it in to you may wipe it when you pop the SIM card in.. I'd refrain from doing that. Personally I'd call the carrier and see if they can get in touch with the owner. Just pop the SIM out too see which carrier it belongs to if it doesn't show on the lock screen. For obvious reasons they won't provide you with the owners info but they might be able to leave your contact info on the account or provide it to the owner.

>Depending on the phone you're putting it in to you may wipe it when you pop the SIM card in.. Are you saying that the SIM card can instruct the phone to wipe itself?

umbrlla

Nope, it's a security feature on some phones. I don't remember the circumstance that triggers the phone to do it but I've seen it happen more than a few times.

Andy_Schlafly

Interesting - do you have any recommendations for further reading about this?

Apple store won’t return phones or anything else. Their policy is not to get involved.

Anything to sell another phone...

Sometimes people have easy assess to emergency contacts (like mom/dad/brother ect) from the Lock Screen. You could try that and call one of the people.

nyrb001

Yup. I have a lock screen message set as "ICE contact " - I've gotten a phone back because of that, plus it's good if I should ever be injured or unconscious for some reason.

Drop it off at a police detachment. They will go through all of the normal checks others have already suggested. They also have the ability to get subscriber info from the relevant provider and get it back that way. Also, for anyone reading this that hasn't already done so: **record both your cellphone serial number and IMEI number somewhere safe.** If you lose your phone, you can report your serial number to the non-emergency police line so if anyone turns it in, the police can query that number and get it back to you. The IMEI number can be used to blacklist your own phone if you're ready to give up on getting it back. It's smart practice to record serial numbers for any and all devices you own, especially bikes.

Apple isn't going to do anything.
