Today Trek Book Find!!

Thumbs up for all the Peter David books. The Lost Years is also really good.

I haven't read the Voyager relaunch but a lot of people like it quite a bit.

Don't have much to say about the rest of them. They range from bad to mediocre.

The Lost Years is a good one

ALifeBuggin

Thanks for the heads up!! I pick that up as my first TOS book to read then!! Think I am going to start with the Q Continuum series though today though, maybe ill do that one after those three, and then I'm maybe thinking of reading Voyager: Unworthy soon too

DarthRazor

Hey, you’ve gotten excellent comments from the others, but put Vendetta at (or near) the top of the pile. Doomsday Machine (sorry of) from TOS in a Next Generation setting with Borg. A recipe for success!

ALifeBuggin

OoOoo thanks I will put Vendetta up there with your recommendation!! Thanks for the suggestion I much appreciate it!!

thebritgit

Odd, I really didn’t care for it. I couldn’t buy the character motivations.

ALifeBuggin

Im especially excited about my 3-out-of-3 find of the Q Continuum series and also the Peter David Q-Squared I was interested in reading! I was really hoping to find more Voyager and Deep Space Nine but it was mostly TNG today!! So far I have been reading about 1 trek novel per 24/hrs the past week so hope to keep this trek book train running this year!! For those who have read them, what out of what I picked up today were your favorites? Which are your least?

katarr

I've read most of these - Q-Squared is one of my favorite Trek books of all time. Probably read it half a dozen times.

ALifeBuggin

Oh awesome!! Yeah I look forward to reading that one in the near future? Without any spoilers, why is it one of your all times favorites? Anything in particular that makes it stand out so much?

katarr

It has a lot of elements I love: * Q * Combining previously unrelated lore elements in a way that makes complete sense * SLIGHT SPOILERS >!Alternate universes!< * Particularly the way this book does it * Peter David

Nice. I was supposed to get Spock's World today, tracking says it was delivered, but it never showed up, so I ordered it from amazon Prime (which always delivered) and added The Klingon Gambit and a Voyager book. Happy reading unto you!

ALifeBuggin

Oh that’s too bad! I didn’t even think about using prime to find Trek books! Are the prices reasonable? And happy reading unto you as well!

Those 2 Voyager relaunch books by Kirsten Beyer are some of my favorite Treklit of all time. They are really a two-part story that kicks off the Full Circle fleets journey to the Delta quadrant. Full Circle even seems like 2 separate stories. I know that Full Circle was supposed to be 2 separate BOOKS originally, but combining them in a rather large single volume was a great call. The whole 10 book Voyager run by Kirsten Beyer was a highlight in the post-Nemesis treklit landscape. I hope she grts to write another Voyager related story either in print or onscreen.

ALifeBuggin

Oh great thanks for the heads up!! I am extremely excited to read the Kristen Beyer Voyager run, Voyager is my favorite t.v. trek series so I know I am going to love that series by her as well, from everything I have heard she does an amazing job highlighting those characters! I am going to another book store today leaving in a bit and hope to find more of her Voyager books!! Did you like any of the non-reboot Voyager books as well?

Treksaves

I actually haven't read many Voyager non-relaunch books other than Mosaic and Pathways. I remember enjoying both. The post TV Series/ pre-Kirsten Beyer books by Christie Golden (Homecoming, The Farthest Shore, and The Spirit Walk duology) aren't bad either...just not nearly as good as Kirstens books

I wonder how many copies of Vendetta are out there? Seems like every post has a copy.

Panic_at_everywhere

Gulliver’s fugitives is soo good! I hope you enjoy it

ALifeBuggin

Oh great!! And thanks I can't wait!!
