Was it purely historical WW2? It may not have been possible to tell from the demo.
The first thing that comes to mind for me is Silent Storm, but that has sci-fi elements later on.
The same engine was used in a bunch of other titles. Check the ones listed here:

watched some more gameplay, this looks just a little newer then what i remember.

Yeah this is a little bigger than I remember, so maybe it's combat mission one or another map, or maybe there was like a demo map they had. But thanks to you I was able to find the right words to Google and I found this YouTube compilation of the best 2000s tactical whatever, and this was in it and that's it so thank you so much!
