i heard coding was fun and satisfying, is it really? really want to study it but never got past the absolute beginner stage, ultimately the whole super strict formatting made give up like three separate times in the last decade lol

In my opinion it is satisfying, but I think that if that’s what you’ve been finding challenging about starting it you should start with a language like Python which is a lot easier to learn

If you remember any of c++ and Java, you will be immediately struck by how much easier it is to understand and debug most code in Python. I went down a similar path myself, feel free to dm me if you’d like more advice!

You’ll want VSCode. Easy install, just make sure you enable the Python extension and it should also provide lots of helpful shortcuts and hints for syntax checking

Hi there, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to comment here or not, but I’m in my mid 20s and I write code professionally. It can be very frustrating but also very rewarding. It’s like the worlds biggest most complicated set of legos. If y’all ever need programming advice/help, feel free to DM me. I remember struggling when I was younger but I can tell you for sure that programming shit is among the only ways to make an amazing salary in a growing industry with (maybe) no degree all from the comfort of your own home. It’s a great gig with an extremely steep learning curve right off the bat but if you like puzzles/legos/sudoku and you’re a bit stubborn when you’re trying to get to the next level in a video game, this might be a great thing for you. well then, during the “class”, teach urself. I taught myself java, python, html, css, js, and now im teaching myself cpp. I find it more fun cuz I can do it at my own pace and create projects with them.

"coding" is HUGE. What are you looking at making? Websites? Games? CLI tools? Embedded systems? Automation scripts? Arduino stuffs? Raspberry Pi stuffs? In my opinion, it's good to have a general idea of what you're trying to make before starting to learn a language. Although Python seems pretty common and safe, so if you really have no idea go ahead and start learning some Python. There's a million websites and YT tutorials out there.
