Yeah. Rear tire was popped with locking lug nut. But I mean I’d they didn’t have the right truck to do it I would of called someone else.

Pretty sure this has to do with your transmission bud. Fwd cars shouldn’t be towed this way, it can really mess up the transmission.

Ya it can. If the cars not running, there’s no fluids being pumped into the transmission.

“Turn the car on” does not necessarily mean “Start the car” I interpreted it as turn the key on so the shift lock would release. If that’s actually what he meant, his transmission is proper fucked

I’m a girl… haha and my car was on while towing in N. It has* the DSG in it. But I think it’s still messed up. Like my entire half of my dash doesn’t work. It didn’t do this with prior to being towed.. I sat in the car with it running waiting for the towing company. No light except the tire pressure.

And im honestly screwed. About to lose my job over this. I can’t make it to work I live in the middle of no where. I can’t even leave my house unless I get a ride. I’m about to call Volkswagen and the towing company & be a whole ass “Karen”, and as a bartender I HATE “Karens” cause this is complete BS! Every single thing about this is entirely not my fault and I am so so so irritated.. the key should of been in the kit to change the tire and if it wasn’t Volkswagen had so many opportunities to take it off when I went in for my maintenance or you know took them off before I bought the car as they KNOW these are hard to find and are missing from mostly all their vehicles & the tow company should of known how to tow my car properly!

Yeah he absolutely should of used dollies under the front wheels to tow the car. Unfortunately you’re going to have to fight for it. I’d start by calling the tow truck company and calmly explaining what happened shortly and asking for the companies owner and operator and tell your story to them. Explain how it was towed with the front wheels on the ground and that DMF (dual mass flywheel) suffered catastrophic damage in the process. They might argue that the driver told you to leave it running but the DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox) transmissions absolutely cannot be towed with the wheels on the ground in neutral or any mode. It’s important to sound like you know all of the details and have done your homework. If the owner dismisses you completely which I hope they won’t, politely ask for their lawyers information and write it down. You can then go about the process of going through your insurance company but making sure that they go after the towing company. It wouldn’t hurt to call your local insurance agent and ask for their opinion on how to proceed also but make sure to start your process with the owner of the towing company. I’ve gone through a similar issue a few times before and this is all based on personal experience but feel free to shoot me any questions you might have directly.
