basically we need the Jets to lose 1 game, the Pats to lose 1 game and the Dolphins to lose 2 games. We also have to win out.
The Jets play the dolphins next week and we need them to win that game. so they can not win today.
Obviously controlling your own destiny is ideal, but I admit I have fun rooting for other teams with fellow Steelers fans. I find it hilarious watching all of us root for the patriots who we hate lmao
Dolphins have a starting QB recovering from his third concussion this season and a backup QB who couldn’t finish the game today because of a finger injury.
Patriots. Dolphins. Ravens round 1. If we won any of those three games, we would likely control our own destiny. It makes me upset that we need three other variables to go our way, in addition to wininng out.
It stinks. I think we just caught those teams at the worst time or had terrible luck (muffed punt by Gunner and dropping 3 picks in the Dolphins game). I think if we played the Patriots or Dolphins again I’d like our chances.
I just got a notification “Tua eyeing playoff return” from bleacher report.
Fuck man if Seattle beat the Jets this week, and we handle our business, there’s a real shot at a wildcard lol
Would feel even better if Cincinnati somehow slides up to the #2 seed and we have the opportunity to send them home early 🤭 Bungles are about the only playoff team I feel confident about us beating.
Crazy... if Mitch didn’t throw 3 INTs in the Red Zone last time we played the Rat Birds, we would be looking mighty good to make the playoffs right now.
Dolphins are missing a lot today too they’re without QB Tua Tagovailoa, OLB Bradley Chubb, OT Terron Armstead, CB Xavien Howard and OT Eric Fisher today vs. the New England Patriots.

“I don’t want the Steelers to make the playoffs this year, we don’t deserve it”
I may get hate for this, but I usually will root for the Pats when the game doesn’t matter for us. Only because of their safety, Kyle Dugger, that I went to college with, and lived next door to. When a kid from a small DII school gets drafted and then becomes an everyday starter, the rivalry simmers down a little bit.
Honestly I wouldn’t care what team they were on, I’d root for any team that has my buddy on it. Even the ravens tbh. Football fandom is fun but I like my friends more
From what’s on playoffstatus it says we’re only eliminated if the Dolphins win (or we lose of course). Can anyone explain the Jets situation?
Edit: [Here’s the link to our elimination scenarios on playoffstatus](http://www.playoffstatus.com/nfl/steelerseliminate.html)
Omg Seahawks 40 seconds away from winning it lol 40 seconds left wow! It's really on us guys let's win this fucking game and get into the playoffs! Kenny is the future goat once we get him into the playoffs he will work magic.
Your flair says you rooted for the Bengals, I'm taking a wild guess that that was from when they were playing in the superbowl....that is like 1 million times worse than rooting for the Pats to win when the Steelers actually need them to win to help their playoff chances.
Rooting for the Patriots because it benefits the Steelers playoff chances is worlds better than any insane excuse to root for a division rival to win the AFC championship. Lmao.
It was the AFCCG, when the correct choice is to root against the team that beat the Steelers (KC). Please refer to above video link regarding your guess
Buddy you root FOR the team that knocks you out, so that at least you lost to the champion. In the eyes and hearts of the people, another team winning just means another team that would’ve beat you
There is no pride in losing to the champion, but there is schadenfreude in watching the team that beat you lose.
Like, imagine rooting for the Patriots in the Super Bowl after they beat the Steelers in the AFCCG. No way. That's L7 weenie energy.
I'm not allowed to be conflicted on what I feel is best for my favorite team? Im not rooting to lose I just don't see a ton of benefit of backdooring into the playoffs just to likely get rekt. Yes, experience for rookies. But also getting embarrassed on national TV.
Can't even have an honest middle of the road thought around here.
Think about it logically here.
Steelers miss the playoffs and pick ~16th
OR
Steelers make the playoffs, giving them a chance at a Superbowl, although they’ll likely lose wildcard weekend, where they’d pick ~18th.
I’ll take the opportunity to win it all, in exchange for like 2 spots in the draft, where we likely get who we’d want anyways. We get rookies playoff experience and more Steelers football.
I see your point. Makes sense. I just find it difficult to get hyped when we backdoor in. Like we didn't really earn it, don't really deserve it, and I see it as an opportunity for more people to get hurt.
The experience is really the only benefit I see to getting in. Cause we would likely go to KC or buffalo.
Whatever happens I'm rooting for us to win, let be clear about that. I'd just rather we get in playoffs by winning and not cause the right people lose.
> Playing an extra game where we likely get smoked does no one any good but go on.
Playoff experience for young players is invaluable, win or lose, especially for your rookie QB.
You know, when you make the playoffs your team is one of the 7 best in your conference. Hard to say they actually suck. Maybe you're just spoiled and don't know actual bad football.
Good point chief haha Sprry to be so harsh. I just get annoyed by some of the fans acting like this is a terrible team. There's a solid foundation here, just need some pieces. Plus, you never know what can happen any given Sunday. The giants got a super bowl falling ass backwards into the playoffs not all that long ago.
I don't think we are terrible, and we have some good things going. But compared to like buffalo, KC, and arguably Cincy, we aren't that good. I'd rather us win and get in than have to rely on others and a bunch of scenarios. That's really all I'm saying.
And you're right, anything can happen. Giants are twice proof of that. And the 03 Steelers for that matter.
Really hoping that Seattle and New England can get it done today. It would still be an uphill battle, but tonight’s game would have playoff intensity.
Do we need Seattle to win?
Yes.
Do Jets need to lose next week as well (of course if all goes well today)?
No. They have to beat Miami next week.
This I think is the biggest roadblock for our chances.
Depends, Teddy broke a finger and if Tua doesn’t play then the Dolphins have to start their 3rd string QB
Ah yea.
basically we need the Jets to lose 1 game, the Pats to lose 1 game and the Dolphins to lose 2 games. We also have to win out. The Jets play the dolphins next week and we need them to win that game. so they can not win today.
ah dang, unfortunate how the schedule worked out then. that's alright though I believe!!
Boom!
Lord give me strength, I'm cheering for the Patriots
Very easy to do with no Brady and our playoff lives on the line.
Their fans are still insufferable lol
Steelers really about to get the 32nd pick from the Bears
Bears really haven't let us down this year!
You mean 33rd right?
Miami was penalized a 1st round pick. Only 31 players will be selected in the 1st round this year.
Oh yeah I totally forgot. Thanks
Obviously controlling your own destiny is ideal, but I admit I have fun rooting for other teams with fellow Steelers fans. I find it hilarious watching all of us root for the patriots who we hate lmao
That Chargers/Raiders game and them almost tying last ywar was one of my favorite non Steelers games
I almost died watching that game lol
that was so fun though
I think I still haven’t fully recovered.
What a nightmare that was
I feel so dirty cheering for the Patriots
Lets go!!!!!! I am going to be at game!
Bring the energy!
Wearing TJ on Def and breaking out my Hines Ward for OFF. They gotta be physical to win this game!!!!
Switching out jerseys, baller move sir
That foreword progress call was bull shit
One of the worst calls of the year
This is probably pot calling kettle but the Patriots’ offense is so inept.
Im sorry, doe’s belichick have dementia??? Kick the fg!!!
He wants fired to coach the browns.
Up 12 instead of 9… wouldn’t have made a big difference. Still would have been 2 TDs needed for MIA right?
Well. 9 is a td and a fg. 12 is 2 tds. I think that’s worth it.
Yea you’re right. Dumbass Beli.
No worries. New England doesn’t normally blow it like that.
This jets team is horrible. Don’t think the have a hope against the dolphins next week
This Jets team that has already beaten the 5 game losing streak Dolphins?
If Skylar Thompson is starting. I like the Jets’ chances.
Dolphins have a starting QB recovering from his third concussion this season and a backup QB who couldn’t finish the game today because of a finger injury.
[удалено]
A win for the dolphins puts them at 9-8 and they have the head to head over us I think
Need the Jets to beat the dolphins next week too
They could always tie lol
Patriots. Dolphins. Ravens round 1. If we won any of those three games, we would likely control our own destiny. It makes me upset that we need three other variables to go our way, in addition to wininng out.
No matter how you cut it, this team surpassed expectations in the first year of a retool. Just enjoy what’s left of it!
I agree, that's ultimately what I'm going to take away from this season. When all said and done, we still over-performed.
It stinks. I think we just caught those teams at the worst time or had terrible luck (muffed punt by Gunner and dropping 3 picks in the Dolphins game). I think if we played the Patriots or Dolphins again I’d like our chances.
*4 picks, and Kenny getting concussed against the Ravens. But yes, I would feel good against these teams with Kenny after the bye.
There were plenty of losses early on where I was like “if we make a late push we’re gonna look back at this one and cringe”
We have three, with each having a different culprit. Patriots: Matt Canada Dolphins: Cornerbacks Ravens: Mitch Trubisky
Pats win Bears lose Seahawks up early Nice
TD patriots, nice *I'm gonna throw up*
MiamI TD. Looking for an onside kick and potential game winning FG if recovered because Belichek didn’t take the points to grow the lead.
Pats got the onside kick!
Crazy... if Mitch didn’t throw 3 INTs in the Red Zone last time we played the Rat Birds, we would be looking mighty good to make the playoffs right now.
I was hoping people would use this thread but instead 20 posts are being made about the same subject
Probably would have helped if mods set this thread to default by new
I think we'll be good this week. Next week will be the rough one. Of course, the main part of all this is we HAVE to win
I only want to make the playoffs so we have another game of Steelers football. I'm not ready for it to be over despite how rough it's been this year
I decided I'm going to have fun watching the game tonight but it would make it a lot more fun if it mattered.
Idk, I'd take the dolphins over patriots and the jets over seahawks and we need both games to go the other way to stay alive
Dolphins are missing a lot today too they’re without QB Tua Tagovailoa, OLB Bradley Chubb, OT Terron Armstead, CB Xavien Howard and OT Eric Fisher today vs. the New England Patriots.
The Dolphins/Pats game is a legit toss up to me. I think Teddy Bridgewater starting for them, leans it towards the Pats though.
Isn't the entire pats defense hurt though?
I don't know who's on IR or anything but it looks like the only players that are officially out as of now are Marcus Jones and Jack Jones.
Don't know bout jets this year but their current performance isn't making me feel good for next week.
if Tua will not play then there is a chance
We need bridgewater to also be out I think. Teddy is a really good backup for them.
Looks like tonight's game just might be a playoff game!
Tomlin haters: don't tell Tomlin
I don't think this jets team can deliver the win next week.
Depends on whether Skylar Thompson starts. If he is, then the Jets have a shot.
“everybody writing The Steelers off, i ain't write back though” - Geno Smith
The Pats are us lol, need 6 yards? throw for 40 down the field and miss entirely, then follow it up with a 30 yard punt
We throw for 4 yards when we need six.
Been waiting to see someone else notice this... our teams are scary similar
What a pick, What a run back. Lets goooo
Seahawks have the ball and are up 7!!!
Outside of the Browns losing this is has been almost a perfect start to the day.
Browns winning does help the lions though. I’d like to see them make it
https://preview.redd.it/dgngql4mpj9a1.jpeg?width=503&format=pjpg&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=393c8064fef7912dab815cf6833683fba144e0b1 “I don’t want the Steelers to make the playoffs this year, we don’t deserve it”
I won’t cheer for the Patriots but I’m glad the Dolphins are currently losing.
Game 1 of the multi week parlay off to a good start--Pats 7, dolphins 0
There ya go. Don’t let this fall to mac jones.
Just need Skylar to throw the patriots another pick
We good on Miami losing! Time to scoreboard watch the Seahawks!
Seattle up 10 nothing
NBC looking like a genius for flexing the Steelers game now.
I may get hate for this, but I usually will root for the Pats when the game doesn’t matter for us. Only because of their safety, Kyle Dugger, that I went to college with, and lived next door to. The stillers gahnta superbowl infinity stones are being gathered. Just beat the ratbirds
Great start for the Seahawks
Seattle!!
Geno looking good actually fucks with my head… guess he really never wrote back tho
So, win out….Bills over Patriots, and Jets over Dolphins?
Correct
Playoffs or not, I still want this team to win out. Screw anyone that wants us to drop games for draft positioning.
My guess is because we need NY to beat Miami next week, but if NY wins out then they’ll get in at the 7th seed over us
Ahh that makes sense, they have the tiebreaker over us with that win. Thank you.
I believe if the Jets win we can only get in if they tie next week. So not technically eliminated
The pats are a lot more undisciplined teams as compared to past years
Watch the P\*ts find yet another way to fuck us.
Deshaun Watson is MEGA ass game 17 in the bag
I know it doesn't affect our playoff hopes, but love to see Watson sucking it up for the Browns again.
dang
Mac jones is just not that good.
Our season is in grave danger.
We needed that Pick Six!
Pick six Patriots!
Love to see it
LETS GOOOOOO
My pp just got hard. A full 3”!
Thank you Skylar!
That was a great catch
Gonna be a long day of football watching boys
One down. One to go. Go Seahawks!
Thank you New England! Very cool!
This better not age like milk.
oooooo it’s looking good
Dolphins lose!
it's happening!!!
Okay, that's one game down and the riskiest (aside from our own). Let's hope Seattle comes through now
This is shaping up rather nicely.
Seahawks with an interception!
Kenneth Walker is so good
**Steelers bullshit activate**
Just want them to get to next week. Don't want a meaningless last game
I feel like everything is gonna go our way this week and then we’re gonna totally blow it against Groper next week :( it’s gonna be so demoralizing
I like our chances with a game at home to get into the playoffs. We’ve historically played well against Deshaun.
I'd rather us blow it today and destroy the doodoos if I had to pick one or the other. Ideally we smoke both teams.
Pats defense is shit
Pats have swiss cheese defense
I just looked at my cable bill and realized Sunday Ticket auto-renewed from last year and I had no idea I had it all season.
Bleh. Nice punt.
Man the Pats suck
These ain't your daddy's Patriots! They stink.
I feel dirty having to cheer for the Patriots to win
Brady not being there makes it a tad bit easier.
Mac Jones is not particularly good.
Dugger!!!
9 point lead for New England
LFG!!!
We still alive
TD PATS!
Wow gutsy call
HEREWEGO!!! Just need the jets to take the L
That should seal it....1/3 of the way there for this week
ASS CORKLE JONES DID IT
Cheatriots have all but won. Miami choked hard. Edit: I guess choked is too harsh considering Miami is on their 3rd string QB.
I don’t know about choked. They have their third string QB in.
Hawks by 15
Omg Seahawks 40 seconds away from winning it lol 40 seconds left wow! It's really on us guys let's win this fucking game and get into the playoffs! Kenny is the future goat once we get him into the playoffs he will work magic.
Steelers still in it
Mac Jones is trash. Bridgewater going to play like his life depends on the outcome.
Game. Cheatriots.
Good boy napping so he can really focus on the game... LFG!!! https://imgur.com/jYlL4wD.jpg
Mac jones apparently wants to lose. Fuck the pats
Damn we better not fucking blow this if Seahawks win
PATRIOTS W BOIS
Alright sky thompson, bring is home for the stillers
Nice pass Teddy B!! Let’s go! Edit. I meant his interception dipshits.
"Go Pats" should never, ever, ever, ever be uttered by a Steelers fan.
This situation is the ONLY acceptable situation to root for the Pats.
counterpoint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3y3QoFnqZc
Your flair says you rooted for the Bengals, I'm taking a wild guess that that was from when they were playing in the superbowl....that is like 1 million times worse than rooting for the Pats to win when the Steelers actually need them to win to help their playoff chances.
"Roots for Bungles to spite them" though.

It was the AFCCG, when the correct choice is to root against the team that beat the Steelers (KC). Please refer to above video link regarding your guess
You actively rooted for a division rival, but rooting for the Patriots to win when it benefits the Steelers is somehow wrong? Lmao
I judge rivalries on what matters: Lombardi trophies, not divisions.
> counterpoint: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3y3QoFnqZc

Seahawks continue to leave the door open :/
Idk what to root for honestly. I'm conflicted about rooting for playoffs.
“I’m conflicted about watching my team play more games” what a weird take
The amount of these takes I’ve seen is insane.. “I don’t know if I should root for my team to have an opportunity to win the Super Bowl”
I'm not allowed to be conflicted on what I feel is best for my favorite team? Im not rooting to lose I just don't see a ton of benefit of backdooring into the playoffs just to likely get rekt. If they are gonna play like shit, then I'd rather not see them play.
Then don’t watch? Meanwhile real fans will enjoy watching their team for an extra game
Real fans can admit when we suck and need change. Playing an extra game where we likely get smoked does no one any good but go on.
> Playing an extra game where we likely get smoked does no one any good but go on. Playoff experience for young players is invaluable, win or lose, especially for your rookie QB.
Then go root for your “favorite team” to lose 😂
I never rooted for us to lose. I said I was conflicted about making playoffs. May want to read what I actually said, yo.
You know, when you make the playoffs your team is one of the 7 best in your conference. Hard to say they actually suck. Maybe you're just spoiled and don't know actual bad football.
If we actually won our way in instead of backdooring, then I'd probably agree. I've seen the doodoos go 0-16. I know bad football.
