I’m just starting a trial Tidal subscription, which apparently has the best payouts for artists.
I overall like it ok, but I’ve noticed some “lag” when starting/switching tracks and don’t experience that with Spotify. Also, it doesn’t have the same device support that I’ve become spoiled with using Spotify.
I’ve been a Spotify customer since 2011 and it would be hard and slightly painful to migrate over, but I’m willing to for the right service.
Will I ultimately switch? I don’t know. My family is very entrenched and the recommended algorithm with Spotify seems unmatched.
Yes, Tidal has the best payouts which are still a joke.
Don't you have to subscribe to the $20/month tier for them to give more to the artists?
There is a higher tier for this specifically, but I \*think\* that the basic Tidal plan gives more per track than the equivalent Spotify as well. I'm clearly no expert, so take all this with a Reddit-grain-of-salt.
I don't like conspiracy theories. I'm too upset because of Spotify pays 100 million bucks to one guy who spreads misinformation deliberately.
I love Spotify as a music/podcast player. The Spotify standalone app works like a charm on my Galaxy Watch 4 whenever I workout.
Spotify connect feature is among the 7 wonders of the world.
Ok. But. However. Despite that concerns Should I keep using Spotify?
Let's imagine I decide to deactivate Spotify. So let's to the alternatives.
- Apple Music: I don't have any Apple gadget. Even I have one gadget Apple Podcast hosts Steven Bannon show. So we have the same issue Spotify has.
- YouTube Music: YouTube hosts a lot of right-wings channel that spreads misinformation as well
- Deezer: Deezer is a cool app. Deezer has live radio stations. However Deezer doesn't have any Android Wear app (I have one Galaxy Watch 4)
I think despite that issues I'm gonna keep using Spotify.
https://www.deezer.com/en/devices/wearables it is on Android Wear now, the flow feature on smartwatches is incredible.
Hey you have a post with the same text. Spam bot?
No I'm not a spam bot. I have copied and paste because of the issues are the same. Please excuse me for duplicated text 👍
Ethical alternatives to Spotify? BUY your music from the artist. Otherwise, throwing a fit about stuff on a streaming service you don't even listen to is the most Karen thing you can do.
I’m just asking about other services? I fail to see how that makes me a Karen 🤷♂️
Have a nice day, mate
That is not what you did. You asked for "*ethical"* alternatives to Spotify, whatever on Earth that means. And due to timing, I am assuming this has everything to do with Joe Rogan. If you don't like Rogan (neither do I), don't listen to him.
I plan on not listening to him. I also plan on switching services but don’t want to switch to another shitty company like Apple Music so I’m asking about ethical alternatives. I’m sorry trying to be an informed consumer is upsetting to you but I fail to see what getting in an argument about something that upsets you will solve
I am not upset. Your question on ethics is extremely subjective. For example, I don't find it "unethical" to host the opinions of someone you don't like. You know who would? A Karen.
my man, someone choosing with their wallet a company based on the values that company practices is not being a "Karen". It's literally a free market move.
That is EXACTLY how a Karen would see this. I don't have any issue with the free market, that is exactly why Spotify chose Rogan over the few that had "ethical" concerns.
Alright sure, if I also don't want to give Nestle my business because of their values and then that makes me a "Karen", so be it. Voting with your wallet is a good thing, weird take from your end.
Nestle killed people. Weird take. Enjoy whichever service you choose! I hope they have the exact same ethics you do.
I hope Rogan at least pays you to ride him this hard.
Lmao God forbid some of us have standards
I don’t either? Why do you seem so upset by exercising my rights in a free market? Do you not believe I should be able to act freely & exercise my first amendment right to support what companies I support? You’re coming off as weirdly authoritative and implying I’m wrong to shop around for other services lol
I didn't tell you what to do, or whom to shop for. You can do whatever you'd like, and I can criticize your actions. The market of free ideas works for both of us, not just you. My criticism was specifically of your use of "ethical" as if somehow Spotify wasn't ethical.
Lmaooooo okay? So what is your contribution to this discussion other than telling me I’m a Karen? Cause simply coming into a thread to insult/belittle people is a lot more Karen than simply asking about different services
Yeah! I read your issue and thought it was silly and extremely vague/subjective. Then, I chose to let you know how I felt about it.
Okay? That’s Karen behavior more than anything I’ve done lol
I mailed Neil Young a dollar today.
what you mean ethical?
Not promoting misinformation, not attached to slave labor (Apple Music), & not a shitty company overall. Vague definition, I know, but just not an absolutely shitty or evil company
buy CD and Vinyl. all the industry is corrupted bro
Yeah but I can pick the one that’s least shitty still?
I would just download mp3s of the music you like on YouTube and listen to them on your own devices at that point.
Not trying to debate you on your morals or anything, I’m just curious why you are leaving Spotify off promoting misinformation?
Have you listened to a single podcast of rogans? He has never been anti science and education. In fact id argue he is the most pro education person on a platform right now *because he allows a cordial conversation with all sides*
If that's not a promotion of education I don't know what is.
You completely ignored my point. Also, before the days of BS mainstream media, that's what an interviewer was *supposed* to do. Not interject his or her own opinions.
Well he is an interviewer so refute that comment I made about how interviews are supposed to be conducted.
>not attached to slave labor (Apple Music)
I hate to break it to you, but the entire technology industry has a slave labour problem. From core ingredients to the way most components are made, even a company like Tidal or Deezer that are essentially software companies are benefitting from it.
Good lucking finding that
Thanks! I’m thinking tidal or deezer rn
Tidal, who were investigated for streaming fraud, for inflating Beyonce's streaming numbers so she could benefit financially?
Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone has one
No buddy. Deezer has no android wear app. This link is outdated. 👍
Build your own instruments and record on cassette. Then listen to them. Sound quality is the same and it's up to you how ethical you want to be. Are there any? Wtf is Jay Z doin right now?
Thanks but no thanks
