Don't use CBC. They sell past crop and ship in unsealed bags. Id recommend The Captains Coffee if you'd like quality green coffee. Furthermore, their website is a lot easier to find the coffee you'd enjoy most!

airbender_pipes

Everything that I've ever seen that wasn't new crop was specifically labeled as past crop and labeled as such. Also, many of the coffees they receive are shipped around the world in unsealed bags, are they not?

Feeling_Bullfrog_784

I would love to see a screenshot of crop harvest dates from them. They also do "restocks," which is awesome, but they don't tell you if you are getting fresh crop or the 1 year old crop, or even when they've switched over to the restock. Not to mention, I've personally watched a coffee sit for over a year and a half. I emailed them about the matter, and asked if they'd disclose that—obviously got no response. Actually, nearly all specialty coffee now is shipped in grainpro or equivalent. I haven't seen a coffee come in an open jute bag in about 3 or 4 years. This also makes me wonder if CBC is even resealing their bags after opening. I've just given them too many chances, and I am always disappointed by their quality...

Salreus

Have you reached out requesting harvest info? I find them to very helpful and answer anything I have asked.

Feeling_Bullfrog_784

I've asked twice, and neither got a response. But they've answered my other questions before...

Are you asking about a specific bean or are you asking them to provide you a detailed list of all the beans. Cause yeah, I doubt they are going to offer that up. But I know a few months ago when they had beans that weren't speciality grade, they noted them and sold them at a cheaper price. and i have also see them selling beans from last crop marked down. so it doesn't seem like your statement jives with how they sell. Feeling_Bullfrog_784

I was asking about a specific bean. And yea, they did that, but those had nothing to do with their past crop issues—just didn't score an 80 on the cupping table.

I order from CBC and since I like to blend decaf 50/50 with regular, I use their Indonesian Bali Hai blend. All of their stuff is great. I know, not helpful but it’s true.

Salreus

Don Enrique is amazing. 18 rabbit washed and misty valley.

WantDastardlyBack

It's my favorite from them, so far. They mistakenly sent me Patron instead on my last order and were very apologetic and sent another bag out free of charge.

sfriz99

I just got the Peruvian Finca La Esperanza and it's really good. I have also gone through a lot of Ethiopian Harar.

RiverPiracy

Can't recommend anything from there but if you live on the east coast of the US HappyMug ships same day usually and is at your door within the next few. Edit: Just saw your avatar. Go Blues.

DippStarr

The Bali Blue moon is a really complex favorite that they have kept in stock for years. I just recently had a Ramirez Red Honey Process from Dominican republic that really has a nice rounded flavor in the City+/Full City range

I use CBC a lot. Great variety as well as great customer service team. So many good ones. The little burlap bags are a nice touch too.

airbender_pipes

I really like the Bolivia: Organic Apolo, La Paz Department, and the Rwanda: Organic Abakundakawa Gakenke District. If you're looking for decafs Indonesia: Organic Bali Hai blend is very popular Also, if you want to try a region specifically you can buy sets of half pound sample packs. I personally don't buy individual sample packs because the premium isn't worth it over the 1lb. If you happen to be in New Orleans, check out their new store front, Current Crop

I just ordered extra fancy Kona beans😵😵😵😵

WantDastardlyBack

So far, I've had better luck with CBC than with other places, and I know my orders will arrive the day after placing them. It's never taken longer, even during snow storms. Once you get used to the site's layout, things are easy to find, and the customer service has been exceptional the one time there was a mistake in an order. I've ordered a bunch from CBC and so far Colombia Don Enrique is my favorite. I'm trying to think if there's anything I haven't enjoyed and I can't think of anything disappointing. I have six different pound bags to roast and plan to do that later, starting with Haitian Zombie. As for the comment about unsealed bags. All of mine have come in sealed bags.

Peru Finca Esperanza and Costa Rica La Minita Tarazzu are our favorites. I’ve also had good luck with Brazil Cerrado Oberon, Ethiopia Sidamo and Misty Valley, Guatemala Antigua, Bali Blue Moon. Their shipping is fast, and the one time I had an issue with a box arriving wet and 3 of the bags of coffee inside also being wet/ruined, they expedited a shipment of the same beans to me. Excellent customer service. Heads up, I have found a few rocks (3 or 4, in about 150lbs of coffee) in roasts over the past year from them, so I’d recommend inspecting before dumping into your grinder.
