Did you even read it to the end? No one said tents are homes! People understand that not everyone is going to be housed automatically but there needs to be more options so that no one has to live in a tent in the summer or winter. Folks want to be housed and there's efforts in trying to do so but it's not going to happen overnight.
I am well aware of the issues and I did read it to the end. I’m in no way disagreeing with what you’ve said. I just didn’t like the tone of the article.
Fucked up when you think how much money is wasted on people who don't deserve it,(fired city manager and Tim Reid each earned 800,000 this year.....) then to see homelessness be treated so poorly. Fuck Sandra, fuk the councilors on her side and fuck greed
"You don't vote for CEO of REAL"
"Well how did you become CEO then?"
"The Lady of Wascana Lake, her arm clad in muddy Carharts, held aloft a can of bear spray from the fountain, signifying by divine cronyism that I, Tim Reid, was to ruin Regina. That is why I am your CEO!"
"Listen -- Sandra Masters laying in a pond distributing political appointments is no basis for a system of government!"
If you have Instagram, the camp has a page called Good Trouble YQR and they post items they are in need of. I just checked it and in addition to all the items already listed in this thread, they need garbage bags, Tums/Gaviscon (upset stomach remedies) and flash lights
Well you could just wait and do nothing and then wonder how a tent city full of junkies, vagrants and homeless somehow magically appeared in down town Regina. Because that is exactly where this is headed.
Nah I have empathy toward the "homeless" but not junkies. And the two are quite often the same. And they do nothing but harass passersby for money smokes or food.like f🤬k off times are hard for everybody.
And the waste and garbage left behind by ANY human encampment is quite enough to warrant a comment about brooms and water canon.
And if the situation is not taken in hand immediately downtown tRegina will be swimming in a river of shit, needles and urine.
Again this is not about your feelings, we need to focus on solutions based on actual evidence. What has worked elsewhere? Because guess what there isnt a solution to this that will work that involves punishing people for choosing to be drug addicts even tho that makes your fee fees happy to think about that
This comes across as a feel-good story about community coming together…. That’s a really awful way to spin this. Tents are not homes.

Does anyone have a list of some of the odder items needed or something I can give or do to better even one person in the camp.

Oh perfect, thank you!
Tents, blankets, shoes, socks, underwear, food, bottled water, sweaters, flashlights
Also jackets, sunscreen and bug repellent
We are good on sunscreen! Bug spray is always needed though.
Syringes...
The health care system provides those. No need to donate.
Pillows, sleeping bags, cots and snack type foods, ones that you don’t need to cook!
Take a broom to it.A big f🤬king broom followed by a water cannon.
What's it like being a real life cartoon villain?
Well you could just wait and do nothing and then wonder how a tent city full of junkies, vagrants and homeless somehow magically appeared in down town Regina. Because that is exactly where this is headed.
Or our elected government could do something about the problem they've created.
To your house hopefully Please control yourself. Your feelings about homeless people are irrelevant basically always.

I wanna go camping. Could I not just set up a tent there for rhe night and camp out?
I’m sure they would LOVE to have a tourist in their midst. I encourage you to try it.
I would encourage you to visit and see the people, spend time with them, and talk with them. That's not a horrible idea u/Tiddyphuk
True. The story is a good example of what the CBC wishes to see.
