Great lineup, but most of these are watered down versions with only one or two original members. That's ok though. Last year in Vegas I saw Circle Jerks, & have recently seen Harleys Cromags, UK Subs, GBH & Subhumans. I'd love to see Hawkwind though.

BillyBattsShinebox

Yeah, I'll be ecstatic with just about anything at this point haha. How are Circle Jerks live? I actually only got into them about a year back and think they're great. One of my best finds of the year. I was also shocked to find out Harley is back with Cromags. I thought he was gone for good. Pretty pumped for that. Did you check the link? I noticed you only mentioned bands that I mentioned in the OP. Just wondering if there are any other bands you think I should check out.

Go and see the big punk bands for sure but check out Bob Vylan they are amazing!

captainkinkshamed

They did say they’re going to Bob Vylan, to be fair.

BillyBattsShinebox

Already on the list

Damn... that's a lot of bands. Here's my 2 cents: I went to see the UK SUBS last week, they still rock. I've seen DRONGOS FOR EUROPE in a squat once and they they were good. FUNERAL DRESS are from Belgium. I've seen them multiple times. Put them as a maybe. I saw DISCHARGE twice before corona. Still a fan. I've seen MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUT UP doing their first concert outside the UK. They're good, but too poppy for me. I saw CONFLICT years ago and the only reason to check them is because you can say you saw CONFLICT. I didn't like SLICE OF LIFE. It's good music, but not for a punk festival. RADICAL DANCE FACTION are pretty good. "Punks with guns" is a killer. SUBHUMANS are brilliant. They're a must see. MOSCOW DEATH BRIGADE play very very agressive rap music. Awesome and antifa. Everybody I know loves the RESTARTS, I would go check them myself. I've seen MDC once and they were cool. Didn't like GBH but they're a classic. A lot of people like The MEMBRANES. Seen them once. Not my cup of tea. Bands that would check are: ACIDEZ EVIL CONDUCT THE RESTARTS MDB and a band called MOTORHEADACHE can only be great :-)

BillyBattsShinebox

Great - finally some suggestions that aren't just telling me to see the bands I just said I already plan to see haha. I'll check them all out. (Except for Subhumans, who I already know are amazing)

BobLaubeLaw

Bad Religion is a must see. You'll literally be kicking yourself if you don't see them, when you get more into the punk culture. Easily the best punk band on this list & I think most would agree. Anti Flag is cool but I get not being super into them. I haven't kept up with them in years but I dig their old stuff & they always have a good message.

BillyBattsShinebox

Eh, I'm just not really a fan of that kind of punk music to be honest. I have tried to get into them because people do always rave about them, but they just don't really do anything for me.

BobLaubeLaw

Hmm judging based off your list, you really dig older punk like 80s stuff? If so then just check out their earliest stuff, if not then you might just not like melodic punk I guess you could call it.

captainkinkshamed

Aren’t Hawkwind on the R-Fest stage? That’s basically a mini-fest within itself that has either punk adjacent or just throwback bands in general. It’s why the likes of Gary Numan are on there. Definitely check out the smaller stage or openers for the newbies. EDIT: Is Pizza Tramp playing this year? If so go see Pizza Tramp.

BillyBattsShinebox

Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah, I thought there were a few weird bands this year. And yeah, they're playing. Listening now - they sound pretty sick. Thanks for the recommendation.

Crayonalyst

Subhumans!

BillyBattsShinebox

Yup, already on the list. Great band though.

Crayonalyst

Oops, my bad. I've got a short attention span. I just started listening to The Bouncing Souls. Would love to see them live.

What happened to the Chinese punk scene? I saw some videos on it a while ago, did the government crack down on it?

BillyBattsShinebox

There were only ever a very small handful of bands in the whole country to begin with. I live in a city of over 3 million people, and I'm almost certain that there are no punk bands based here. They probably still exist in the country, but most of them, if they're remotely political, don't seem to be touring at all. The government has cracked down on practically everything in the past few years.
