I just sat down to get caught up on what’s happening and I am just so sad and angry that this is happening. It can happen. I remember there were leaks for Game Of Thrones final season for the last few episodes at once but many people didn't believe in them because the plot was that stupid.
Idk sometimes it can be fragments of the scenario or just someone describing what happens, so I think it can be someone who worked on it but I'm not sure how that stuff happens.

Abolishing work is not a sound idea. Even if we happen to abolish work through AI, that technology has to be built by someone. But even then, work is not the root of all evil -- it's capitalism. It's your boss stealing your wages via surplus value, or in more colloquial terms, profit. It's feeling alienated from your commodities/services because you're forced to into a job you don't care about. It's putting millions of people in poverty so that few capitalists can generate the most profit. It's cutting down or completely eliminating social services in the name of maximizing wealth.
Work is a wonderful thing. It gives us a sense of dignity and worth. But when we don't own the means of production, and work 12 hours a day with meager pay and benefits, that's when it's problematic. So instead of abolishing work, we should abolish capitalism. Abolishing work is such a nihilist, feel-good stance that does absolutely nothing for the working class here and around the world.

Those early seasons of Top Chef were _rough_ even though I enjoyed them for the drama; many of those seasons are completely unrecognizable to the show we're getting today. Def starts hitting its stride at Season 4, really became "respectable" in Season 6, and then really started becoming less about petty drama and more about skill/really high end cooking by Season 10.
oh yeah, season 2 especially is downright painful on rewatch lol. s3 at least mostly feels like producers vs chefs with a normal amount of chef infighting. plus i feel like cooking especially TV cooking has changed so much since the early top chef days? like shit's way fancier now lol
Season 2 was the first season I saw, I caught a marathon on Bravo at a family gathering. I was excited to watch a food show since I didn't have cable or watched reality shows that much, but I was absolutely horrified with all the bullying and stuff. I didn't really watch any Top Chef until Season 12 since I lived in Boston at the time and I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the food looked, and then I went back and did a whole series rewatch from 1-11. I've enjoyed every season since 12 very much
Every thread I try reading about the antiwork mess gives me a colossal headache. Y'all may grind my gears sometimes but god this is my one relatively peaceful place on reddit so please don't let us have that kind of monumental shitshorm one day.
I secretly think the collapse of antiwork is a good thing because it birthed r/WorkReform which is MUCH better titling/branding for this kind of movement.
A workers rights movement needs to represent the fact that a lot of workers are NOT anti-work and that half their cultural identity is about being proud of the work they do and how it's the backbone of society. They just want to be safe, paid well, and taken care of in return. Branding and PR are crucial things for a movement like this and I think typical working class people would have an adverse reaction to being called "anti-work", a title which enemies of said movement could easily use to their advantage, when the movement is actually "anti-exploitation of workers".

They're making very serious accusations about him being a p\*dophile and forcing his actors into doing nude scenes with zero actual evidence. Out of context quotes, deuxmoi, and you're own lack of nuance is not "proof" of anything. It feels very similar, although to a much smaller degree, to the baseless but widely accepted p*dophile accusations against Dan Schnider.

I'm not anti-work since many jobs are needed for our society to function and contributing your energy to the world and being paid for it gives many people a sense of dignity. I just think jobs should be worth doing without the threat of homelessness and starvation, i.e., workers should make a whole lot more, and there needs to be democracy in the workplace. And useless jobs that don't add value to society need to be culled. Of course, none of this is possible under capitalism.

This might be a reach but I interpreted "words that are perfect for what they mean" as phonesthemes which are sound sequences that suggest certain meanings and reading about that might interest you! Words that start with "sl-" are the usual example for things that sound slippery so like slick or slide or slime. My favorite examples are the "sn-" words like sniff or sniffle or snot which are perfect for that olfactory implication.

Hearing on the radio just now that we are living in "a post-truth era". Apparently there has been a study of literature in various languages looking for words relating to rational thinking. They looked for words like "conclusion" or "determine" or phrases like "I feel" or "I believe". According to the guy being interviewed, this rational mindset in the literature (both fiction and non-fiction) started becoming more and more popular from the 1850s. However, in the 1980s it started to reverse, and in 2007 this trend towards "feeling" over "facts" sharply accelerated. I believe the conclusion was that social media is responsible.

Also the racist kid apparently told of my kinda friends, lets call her E the b-slur and told her to got to Taco Bell, and back to Mexico. But his Dad works at the school I had him as my 6th Grade Science teacher, and I hope he beats that kids ass. Like a good ass whooping.

Abolishing work is not a sound idea. Even if we happen to abolish work through AI, that technology has to be built by someone. But even then, work is not the root of all evil -- it's capitalism. It's your boss stealing your wages via surplus value, or in more colloquial terms, profit. It's feeling alienated from your commodities/services because you're forced to into a job you don't care about. It's putting millions of people in poverty so that few capitalists can generate the most profit. It's cutting down or completely eliminating social services in the name of maximizing wealth. Work is a wonderful thing. It gives us a sense of dignity and worth. But when we don't own the means of production, and work 12 hours a day with meager pay and benefits, that's when it's problematic. So instead of abolishing work, we should abolish capitalism. Abolishing work is such a nihilist, feel-good stance that does absolutely nothing for the working class here and around the world.

Those early seasons of Top Chef were _rough_ even though I enjoyed them for the drama; many of those seasons are completely unrecognizable to the show we're getting today. Def starts hitting its stride at Season 4, really became "respectable" in Season 6, and then really started becoming less about petty drama and more about skill/really high end cooking by Season 10.
oh yeah, season 2 especially is downright painful on rewatch lol. s3 at least mostly feels like producers vs chefs with a normal amount of chef infighting. plus i feel like cooking especially TV cooking has changed so much since the early top chef days? like shit's way fancier now lol
Season 2 was the first season I saw, I caught a marathon on Bravo at a family gathering. I was excited to watch a food show since I didn't have cable or watched reality shows that much, but I was absolutely horrified with all the bullying and stuff. I didn't really watch any Top Chef until Season 12 since I lived in Boston at the time and I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the food looked, and then I went back and did a whole series rewatch from 1-11. I've enjoyed every season since 12 very much

I secretly think the collapse of antiwork is a good thing because it birthed r/WorkReform which is MUCH better titling/branding for this kind of movement. A workers rights movement needs to represent the fact that a lot of workers are NOT anti-work and that half their cultural identity is about being proud of the work they do and how it's the backbone of society. They just want to be safe, paid well, and taken care of in return. Branding and PR are crucial things for a movement like this and I think typical working class people would have an adverse reaction to being called "anti-work", a title which enemies of said movement could easily use to their advantage, when the movement is actually "anti-exploitation of workers". That interview was too cringe to watch though.

They're making very serious accusations about him being a p\*dophile and forcing his actors into doing nude scenes with zero actual evidence. I'm not anti-work since many jobs are needed for our society to function and contributing your energy to the world and being paid for it gives many people a sense of dignity. I just think jobs should be worth doing without the threat of homelessness and starvation, i.e., workers should make a whole lot more, and there needs to be democracy in the workplace. And useless jobs that don't add value to society need to be culled. Of course, none of this is possible under capitalism.

This might be a reach but I interpreted "words that are perfect for what they mean" as phonesthemes which are sound sequences that suggest certain meanings and reading about that might interest you! Words that start with "sl-" are the usual example for things that sound slippery so like slick or slide or slime. My favorite examples are the "sn-" words like sniff or sniffle or snot which are perfect for that olfactory implication. Also sorry if you already knew this, I just like finding moments to talk about linguistics in the wild lol.

Hearing on the radio just now that we are living in "a post-truth era". Apparently there has been a study of literature in various languages looking for words relating to rational thinking. They looked for words like "conclusion" or "determine" or phrases like "I feel" or "I believe". According to the guy being interviewed, this rational mindset in the literature (both fiction and non-fiction) started becoming more and more popular from the 1850s. However, in the 1980s it started to reverse, and in 2007 this trend towards "feeling" over "facts" sharply accelerated. I believe the conclusion was that social media is responsible.

Depends, you can tell from the tone of the hosts alone whether they genuinely are interested but respectful, vs the tacky disrespectful jackals who talk about it like a bloodsport and hype up gore and blood and guts. Yeah, I understand in an academic sense why people like true crime and what the appeal of it is supposed to be and stuff like that, but it just doesn't do anything for me. Yeah I’ve some very mixed opinions. There are some channels I like but also some that I avoid like the plague. I’m very cautious about who I support and don’t like the ones cracking jokes and eating and makeup imo. Imo it’s best when a victim’s family has reached out and asked that specific YouTuber to cover it rather than just some random. Because at the very least the victim’s family can clear the air. That being said it’s sorta weird imo to see how some are getting desensitized to crime and stuff. Like I think it’s weird to like have a muckbang while talking about something so awful.
i enjoy true crime content as a morbid fascination (though i have to take breaks because it makes me upset) but there are some people who really shouldn’t be doing it. and there are pretty valid criticisms of even the best ones

Had amazing ass day at school today, I did Science test today open note (my teacher let me because I was out of school for two weeks which were crucial) I definitely got a A on it The BIPOC club at my school (which I’m part of) got the green light from my school to go on a school trip to Washington DC cause we planing on going to the African-American Museum, Latina Museum, and Asian Museum, and I can’t wait to got with some of my best friends and this guy who one my best friends is friends with (he funny as fuck deadass, he two grades up from us). And if you remember my post about that racist white guy in my grade, well we finally told a teacher and not like one of the teachers, THE TEACHER that is the scary one that, yells really loudly at kids, yk (like him though, cause he like me, shout-out to math teachers!) And one of my friends showed him a receipt of him saying racist shit. And he gonna get in trouble. Also the racist kid apparently told of my kinda friends, lets call her E the b-slur and told her to got to Taco Bell, and back to Mexico. All for giggles and laughs, racism is never funny, I don’t even know why I have to say this. But his Dad works at the school I had him as my 6th Grade Science teacher, and I hope he beats that kids ass. Like a good ass whooping. It's because Taylor's music wasn't available on Spotify until 2017. By then a lot of the hype around her earlier singles had died down so they don't have a lot of streams

I hadn't realized how good a Billie and Niki collab could be until now... I really loved the jazzy vibes of Niki's recent release Split and Billie would fit that perfectly. I can also see Niki suiting the dark/alt pop vibes of Billie's music. It's unlikely anything could happen but man I really want to hear a Billie x Niki song now.
The pairing just works. They both have a similar style of soft & sweet but also powerful voice. They both like to experiment and transform along with their music. They both write/produce their stuff. They're in the same age bracket. They appeal a similar demographic. It all works!
