Button mashing in match

I have no idea if it’s true but ever since I was a kid I thought that mashing the flipper buttons increased the chance of getting a match, since my dad alwayyyys did it, getting back into pinball now I wonder if that’s just hogwash or is there some truth to it?

It’s completely random. That said, operators can adjust the match percentage in the game settings. In all actuality, whether or not you receive a free game has already been decided before the match animation even plays. It’s just as useful to pray to your diety of choice for a match as it is to mash the buttons.

I didn’t realize the operators could adjust it until my buddy and I kept matching left and right on free play tables at Galloping Ghost Pinball. For awhile we felt like the luckiest dudes in the world.

Chuckwurt

You can turn it completely off too.

1 time in 10 it works like a charm

When I was a kid, I would catch more Pokémon when I held the B button as soon as the ball hit the Pokémon and I let go as soon as the first wobble ended. Or so I thought

WAIT THAT DOSENT WORK

There was one small match cheat decades ago. On some single player electromechanical games, the match number wouldn't change due to a malfunction. Game played fine otherwise. On those games, if your first 4 balls were bad, probably not getting a replay that way, you'd launch ball 5, then nudge and flip until the tens digit matches the stuck number, then immediately tilt for a match. Rinse, repeat as needed.

Awesome little hack

Same as pressing the elevator button to make it arrive faster.
