Hell yeah it has. Pretty much any and everything I’ve to pay for is starting to get beyond reasonable. Well except gas. That’s calmed down a lot which is cool.
I got one of the beef tubes for $18. In the Dallas area. It was 73% not 80%. I didn't need it but grabbed one anyway. Also, chicken thighs @ $0.78 per pound.
No shit.. Where the fuck are you shopping that you'd have to spend that much on that little? The fucking duty-free airport store in Dubai or something?
Edit: He posted a receipt. But clearly many items aren't in this picture....
Aldi is awesome! They mostly carry their brands, but their brands are great and the prices are fantastic.
For example, around me (FL), Smartfood popcorn is about $5 per bag. The Aldi brand tastes exactly the same, and is less than $2 per bag. Boneless skinless chicken was $1.99/pound for ages, but just recently increased to $2.99/pound. Last I checked at Publix, same chicken was $4.99/pound.
Fresh fruit and veg, even organic, are super affordable. I used to get a 4 pack of fancy hydroponic lettuces from the same producer at Aldi and Publix. The Aldi price was $2.50, Publix $5.00.
I also love their holiday items and cheeses. The prices make it easy to try new things, make a great charcuterie board, a beautiful holiday spread - or just great everyday meals.
I promise, I have no connection to Aldi! Get a quarter for the cart, and bring your own bags to bag your stuff Euro style.
Just stay away from their ice cream in the black boxes - unless you want to gain weight!😉
Spent over $300 this week on feeding a family of 5. No meat because we have our own. I have a well above average income and feel bad cuz some must really be feeling it!
Have you tried squirrel? My yard has so many squirrels that some days I have to throw 3 out just so I can step in. Been thinking about eating them. But seriously, if your city as a goose problem you might be allowed to kill some for food. We tried that here by rounding them up in big nets and sending them to a poultry processor. They went to homeless people and no one wanted to keep rounding them up because there was no money in it. I bet if you killed a goose no one would care. And some game wardens will let you take fresh road kill deer and let you know when it is available. Results may vary.
The $50 bottle of bourbon is behind the Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
You don't have to tell me...I get pissed every time I have to grocery shop, that's why I let my wife do it and just don't ask because last time I went we spent over $300 and we both were able to carry it inside in one trip. Meat is just stupid expensive now.
They sell cases of 20lbs of turkey or beef at Sam's.
But.. where I'm at beef even in bulk is still $4+ /lb. So that's a 10lb tube, so would run a minimum of $40 just for that. The chicken would be $20. And the fish would likely be $20-30.
That’s actually where I’m at. I’m walking through sams now. Funny part is the price per unit is far cheaper here. But it just feels expensive because you get fewer “items”. But still I don’t remember the prices being this high.
Well yeah it looks like you are shopping for the lunch rush tomorrow at a sandwich shop. At least you will be making your money back. If you threw in some potatoes for fries it would take you much further than everyone ordering two sandwiches or brgers yo know.
I don't think most places sell it in this shape. I've never seen it at my few grocery stores I goto, butcher or Costco. But it also looks easily like ground beef and I didn't think it's something else just took a few extra seconds
these pictures are so fucking stupid. First of all, don't buy cereal at a regular market. It's like 1/4 the price at costco. Second, you literally put all the expensive packs below cheap stuff. This is straight up propaganda
https://twitter.com/seckshunate/status/1601011182126927873?s=46&t=KkUCOa3fYfKtXi9XBkLzCg I posted the link to the pic on my Twitter. Feel free to have a look. I added a few things but that’s the whole of it.
$190 in meat... maybe eat less meat if this is too expensive for you. Beans and tofu are much more cost-effective. You could easily half your grocery bill by eating vegetarian.
Why did they triple charge you for the cereal?
Calling bs. You went through self checkout. 'accidently' scanned product. Now I'm sure you're waiting at the service desk for a refund of the error.
The zip locks can't be cheap and that big a box? Save more then half that if you got the cheap ones I mean your going to use them one time ... wrap would be better
I can't tell where you are shopping but looks like one of the big box stores. I get 40 pounds cases of boneless chicken breast for a little over $1 per pound at a restaurant supply store. It is the cheapest I have found and no membership fees. They sell big trays of frozen stuff like pasta, eggs, and other things you might find at an actual restaurant where they just microwave you a slice of it or set out buffet trays.
Unless you are in Alaska or somewhere with similar supply challenges, you are a lazy shopper. The grocery stores are having a laugh at dumb fucks like you. This could easily be 20% - 50% less.
I don’t understand how. I mean, I spend $200 and seem to get a nice cart full for my family of 7 but I guess I just know how to bargain shop. I keep wanting to do one of these posts…
Looks like you have a ton of protein buried under the cheap stuff.
This is true. It’s one pack of beef. Two packs of chicken. And two packs of fish.
What is that giant salami looking thing?
10lbs of beef
It’s beef my friend.
Chicken prices have been out of control this year.
Hell yeah it has. Pretty much any and everything I’ve to pay for is starting to get beyond reasonable. Well except gas. That’s calmed down a lot which is cool.
EVERYTHING is out of control this year
Well at my costco's price, that protein would be 175 cad for me
I forgot how stupid my autofilled profile name is....
Maybe try eating healthier. Are you trying to get into body building or some shit?
I got one of the beef tubes for $18. In the Dallas area. It was 73% not 80%. I didn't need it but grabbed one anyway. Also, chicken thighs @ $0.78 per pound.
Lol “cheap stuff”
American tube meat. Nice
The best kind lol
that is a shit ton of meat
It’s one pack of beef. Some chicken and fish. It’s is a decent amount. Still I don’t remember it being so expensive.
You keep saying one pack…. But it’s one 10 pound pack. That’s a HUGE pack.
I swear officer, I just had one drink. One gallon martini.
That pack of beef is the equivalent of eating that 3lb gummy bear because "It's one piece of candy"
Show the receipt
Ya that looks about $120 to me
152 ziplock bags is like $120 😂
Receipt is posted.
Sure thing. I’ll post the recipe as soon as I check out.
No shit.. Where the fuck are you shopping that you'd have to spend that much on that little? The fucking duty-free airport store in Dubai or something? Edit: He posted a receipt. But clearly many items aren't in this picture....
Just the essentials I see
No need to judge the person buying food. Think he’s trying to prove a point
You’re absolutely correct. I wanted to show that it’s getting ridiculous out here.
That’s exactly why you can judge
At Aldi you could probably get another 30-50% more items.
That ain’t a bad idea. There’s one up the street I never paid any attention too. I’ll check them. Thanks for telling me.

Nah
Spent over $300 this week on feeding a family of 5. No meat because we have our own. I have a well above average income and feel bad cuz some must really be feeling it!
Dude if I could hunt my meat I totally would.
Have you tried squirrel? My yard has so many squirrels that some days I have to throw 3 out just so I can step in. Been thinking about eating them. I mean we’re all made out of meat but we don’t tend to eat our own
If you paid $200 for that you are a rube.
Yeah well. 🤗
The $50 bottle of bourbon is behind the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Is that ground beef? never seen a ground beef packet that huge.
lmao how many pounds it that holy shit does this dude have a polygamist ranch
Lol no but I do have 4 kids and a wife.

Maybe try more vegetables?
I have plenty at the house I just didn’t want to buy more out of fear of them spoiling.
Ugh, i feel you! Looks like you buy in bulk a bit. Have you checked Costco/Sam's memberships? I'm thinking I'm going to.
That’s actually where I’m at. I’m walking through sams now. Funny part is the price per unit is far cheaper here. But it just feels expensive because you get fewer “items”. But still I don’t remember the prices being this high.
Wow. Even at Costco? That's stressful. I planned to head there tomorrow.
Well yeah it looks like you are shopping for the lunch rush tomorrow at a sandwich shop. At least you will be making your money back. If you threw in some potatoes for fries it would take you much further than everyone ordering two sandwiches or brgers yo know.
Haha. You’re right it does look like that.
Buy from Costco u get lil bit more for sure
I haven’t tried them recently. I’ll go there next week.
Don't you have to have a membership to shop there? Do they give you a free day pass or something to check it out?
Usually if you’re not a member you can ask for a free day to check it out.
That checks out. I would think it would be in there best interest
Where do you shop?
I went to sams club
$6 in instant savings. 👍🏼
Lmao. Dude I know.
Costco or Sam's club?
Sams club.
$160 of meat.
I mean...Do you not shop around for the best prices? Wait for sales to stock up? Take advantage of coupons/store promos?
Fair point. Usually I will try to do it the leg work but I will be honest with you I was pressed for time.
Switch from national brands to store brands and you'll save some money. Most of the store brands are made by national companies and rebranded.
Maybe cut back on the salami?
That’s ground beef. It’s just a xxl log.
Why do people think that is salami? It's clearly ground beef.
I don't think most places sell it in this shape. I've never seen it at my few grocery stores I goto, butcher or Costco. But it also looks easily like ground beef and I didn't think it's something else just took a few extra seconds
Well I can honestly see how at a glance it does look like that.
A little, how’z ya father?
these pictures are so fucking stupid. First of all, don't buy cereal at a regular market. It's like 1/4 the price at costco. Second, you literally put all the expensive packs below cheap stuff. This is straight up propaganda
I’m literally at Sams club. Not a regular store or anything like that.
You need to learn how to shop better. Don’t buy junk like that cereal and buy stuff on sale.
That’s true. I won’t lie to you. But if I come home without cereal my kids will eat me instead.
https://twitter.com/seckshunate/status/1601011182126927873?s=46&t=KkUCOa3fYfKtXi9XBkLzCg I posted the link to the pic on my Twitter. Feel free to have a look. I added a few things but that’s the whole of it.
90% beef?!? What ya doin? 80/20, my guy
No she double scanned it and then voided it. Check the last cereal line. It’s got a minus sign next to it.
Ok, fair enough. I see it.
No worries my guy. I wouldn’t put it past folks to bs on the Internet. So I expect the same scrutiny for me.
Also I’m not at the return desk. I’m on my way home.
Well I'll not make any more silly accusations and assume you're not driving while redditing.
Nah it’s all good man. I’m stuck in traffic.
The zip locks can't be cheap and that big a box? Save more then half that if you got the cheap ones I mean your going to use them one time ... wrap would be better
Does wrap prevent freezer burn?
It does if you eat it fast enough
Gotcha. I’ll have to try that
Can use freezer paper. I use it when I harvest a deer
Oh ok. I’m gonna look that up. Had no idea that even existed.
Trolls will be trolls. They’ll be hugging into there pillows tonight as your hugging into that good, expensive foods. Pay no attention.
Well at least we have Griner back 🙄
Lol traded for the literal lord of war. That was about as fair as the food prices.
You shop at the wrong store 2 $200 is a cart full for me
I can't tell where you are shopping but looks like one of the big box stores. I get 40 pounds cases of boneless chicken breast for a little over $1 per pound at a restaurant supply store. I thought I had a large amount of meat, but you beat my meat.
Get a job at a grocery store. Foods free
Other countries is worst..
I feel you! Inflation really sucks with food costs
