I found this beautiful (sculpted) creature at a sculpture park
By - EckisReckis
That was made by [Francois Lelong](http://www.francoislelong.fr/en/projects) and is at Stevens Point Sculpture Park in Wisconsin.
I was waiting for your exact comment. I forgot to get a pic of the creator plaque. Thank you
I was just there this past Sunday for the first time and took several shots of this piece with my phone. I saw your pic and thought reddit had pulled an image out of my pics gallery somehow. I am not a bright man.
Hey, reddit noticed you're a bit low on karma, so we uploaded some stuff for you.
Went to UWSP for college and I had to stop and do a double take as I was scrolling! Fun to see this on Reddit :)
I’m so happy that the college has such a huge contribution to the town
Do you have anymore cool ones from the park?
I do but I’m too smooth brained to figure out how to link them in a comment
Upload them to imgur and post the imgur link
Actually, links might not be allowed... Uhh, not sure, I guess.
Okay I think I got it. If it works thank you, if not thank you anyway. https://imgur.com/gallery/vkCsOR5
Yes, it worked!
The last one is definitely my favorite. Thank you so much for sharing!
I’d have the same problem. Thanks for sharing this one.
One of Loki's bastard children?
Thx for the info
thanks for that, i saw the picture and thought i know this sculpture. i just couldn't remember where from. my brother has a couple sculpture's there.
Much better than finding it in your driveway, barely illuminated by your porch lights at night when you go to take out the trash.
For real tho, really cool sculpture.
As you move to close the door, you hear the creaking of rusted metal. Looking from the window, you see that it has crept a bit further. You call the cops, but by the time they arrive, it has already left your lawn.
The following morning, you go out to collect your paper, only to find it on your lawn, with a metal cat sculpture perched on its back. Around the cat's neck is the collar of next door's cat.
A week goes by without a sighting of either. You later learn of an amber alert regarding one of the local kids. That night, the deer and the cat have returned to your front lawn, accompanied by a scrap sculpture of a small child. You promptly decide to move house. The real horror begins.
The Rusty Forest God
I have waited for an SCP enjoyer to appear here.
I'll admit, I was thinking "the Foundation's gonna want to contain this one" after writing this. Hell, maybe this was made by someone from Are We Cool Yet?, after unearthing forbidden knowledge in the Wanderer's Library. After all, IIRC someone from AWCY? was responsible for the creation of SCP-173, the very first anomaly written by the fandom.
And yes, I've read my fair share of SCP content. Or more accurately, listened to it in audio form courtesy of The Exploring Series on YouTube.
Your screen play is enough to give chills.
This evil thing! I was taking a late walk through there, playing Pokemon Go. It was just shy of full dark and I see this thing, all dark shadows and ominous. Stupid this made me jump.
The sculpture looks like an exact copy of the monster in the Netflix movie The Ritual. Bunch of guys in tents in the forest get their jaws ripped off and pinned to tree branches by the monster.
r/Hannibal would love this.
...this is my design.
What about r/natureismetal ?
Touche, spaztrick. Touche.
So it’s a Leshen mixed with a centaur? That’s awesomely terrifying.
Haha, Witcher vibes for sure!
How do you like that silver!?
Should never have come here!
That was my first thought, too. What oil should I use on this beast? Hybrid?
It's that ancient forest god off that swedish forest movie. Definitely comes alive and chases people.
(Yes it's called The Ritual, and yes everyone needs to watch it)
The ritual! God that movie was so creepy good.
Yes! I can never remember the name. Gotta watch in full darkness.
The monster was described as “a bastard child of Loki” and I thought that was so cool. I guess a child of Loki would have illusion-type abilities which was a major part of the movie actually.
I'm getting major Cernunnos vibes from it.
It's really cool!
Exactly (except I was thinking Herne since I learned him that way).
I thought "that's Cernunnos" right away, I absolutely love this sculpture.
Finally someone else has seen it! One of the most underrated and unwatched films I happened to stumble upon. Plot was very creepy. I loved it!
The whole time I was looking at it and walking around it felt like it was looking at me
That's Loki in the movie, isn't it?
Edit: No, whatever a "Jōtunn" is
Edit 2: It's the "bastard daughter of the Norse Trickster God Loki"
Weirdest looking movie monster I’ve seen in a while.
My luck I'd be day-trippin and come across this thing and bug the fuck out
Different strokes I guess. I'd try to befriend it and learn its secrets.
Something something Pan's Labyrinth
It would probably offer you unimaginable power, but you have to die first.
Definitely a time in my life I'd have taken that deal.
I love that you specified it was sculpted XD
Be quwiet. Its hunting season for deaw centauw. *loads saiga with drum mag*
It is gorgeous but that would scare the crap outta me if I saw this by the water at night. 👀
This thing must be frightening at night. I have a friend who lives in Vegas and every time we drive over to her house, we forget that theres two statues of very tall humanish things standing at the corner. Freaks us out but I imagine it must be really nice art in the daytime.
Been playing too much Witcher lately...my first thought was: Do I need the hybrid oil or the relict oil for this Leshen-Centaur?
I bet that has scared the shit out of some hikers at night
I thought that was a Spriggan for a sec and audibly groaned. I play Skyrim with a mod that adds dense forest in Whiterun plains and there are Spriggans EVERY FUCKING WHERE
Fuck Spriggans dude. They are the worst.
One man’s beautiful is another man’s fever dream
*quietly whispers* "are you an Architect?"
You call this beautiful !? this is LITERALLY the bane of anyone going out for a jog at night... if I see that thing in the corner of my eye I am legitimately going to just lie in fetal position and pray that my soul leaves me behind...
Serious note though, the craftmanship looks pristine !
Thanks. I hate it.
Yeah this is is fucking creepy.
I like how you specify this was sculpted in the title.
Imagine seeing that for the first time at night alone ...
"It has the head of a deer, the body of a man, and the body of a deer"
Imagine stumbling across this at night tme and not knowing that it's a statue.
Thank you for clarifying it is a sculpture
For real! Creeps me out...
This sculpture is disturbing to me and I feel that it has an ill will toward me.
Art is cool and I like when it makes me feel stuff. This thing terrifies me
I have the exact opposite feeling with this. It feels like a protector of sorts that will help me as long as I respect the forest
Art is cool :)
\*passes u/Rebbit3302 a tissue.
-beautiful +creepy ;) FTFY
Gods, I was strong then…
Amazing.....and a weee bit creepy too.
Sculpted? Looks all natural to me...
It looks like that kangaroo that strangled that guys dog
Kangermoose: scourge of canines, destroyer of dogs
Looks even better during the winter
Wow that’s amazing
The foggy pics are probs the best tbh.
It's beautiful but it would be terrifying to walk around at night and suddenly noticing that shape under the moonlight right next to the water.
Wait that shits not real?
Can’t wait for this to show up on r/photoshopbattles
I haven't even thought of that. u/Suckydog has a much cooler pic of it that would fit there better. [https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/nlolsj/elk\_centaur\_by\_francois\_lelong\_stevens\_point\_wi/](https://old.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/nlolsj/elk_centaur_by_francois_lelong_stevens_point_wi/)
Good thing you told us it was (sculpted)
I don’t like the arms..
They’re ready to grab
Metal deer solid
Yeah that's a skinwalker for sure
My first thought too..
Yeap! A Windigo!
Thanks for alerting us that this is sculpted. I thought we were under attack for a moment.
Looks like something from the movie The Ritual.
r/creepy would love this
Wait you're telling me that thing isn't real?
https://i.redd.it/d9tanwal3tq01.jpg My take from 3yrs ago
Creepy annihilation vibes
I CAN APPRECIATE THE ARTFUL DEDICATION... BUT UHMMM NOPE NOPE NOPE.... DON'T WANNA SEE THIS IN THE WOODS... I AM NOT A FAN OF SHITT8NG IN MY OWN PANTS UNCONTROLLABLY.
This is incredible!
This is what I imagine in my mind when hearing cryptid stories about woodland creatures.
If I walked by that in the dark I absolutely would shit myself
That's honestly really freaky
Put red lights in its eyes and a weiner on it and send that to Denver- they will love it there.
Have you seen the stag in Hannibal? (TV Series)
I lived in Point for eight years before moving to Utah. This is so cool to see.
Probably one of the coolest places in Stevens Point
It’s deermanhorse. Quick somebody tell Al Gore.
I don't mean to kink-shame but...really?
That's no sculpture OP, you've intruded on sacred land and are being followed by an ancient race once thought to simply be tall tales.
Remember OP, don't blink, don't even blink, blink and you're dead. They are fast, faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back, don't look away and **DON'T BLINK!**
If you found it, why did u/wizard098 post this same pic on r/oddlyterrifying 5 hours before you posted here?
Incredible!! So it’s representing a Swedish God? Where is this sculpture park?
Stevens Point Wisconsin
Oh grea. We travel to Western Wisconsin frequently! I’ll check it out next time I’m up that way. I need to walk among the sculptures.
This sculpture definitely kills
Has six limbs, so is it an insect?
The setting for it is perfect.
this is awesome, a much better aesthetic for a sort of centaur
I believe it's called a cervitaur when it's a deer instead of a horse.
I remember this guy from the movie the Ritual
Someone call the foundation.
Reminds me of the Fiend from Witcher 3
That's just a reindeer with extra steps
Ever consider centaurian creatures having two ribcages?
Reminds me of images from the Hannibal series
Now imagine you turned around and it wasn't there on your way back - that's how you terrify people AND make money! :D
Reminds me of that deer in adventure time lol
Looks beautiful and majestic on a bright summer's day, I'm sure it'll look a little more... disconcerting... on a cold foggy winter's night :)
I plan to go back in the winter and look at everything covered in snow and ice
Come here you pretty steif
This made me think of Byron, the deer headed butler from Josiah Bancroft's Books of Babel series
I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me…
LOL - a perfect SCP.
"...the thing, whose name sounded like 'Horned Head', but was not..."
Terrifying if you just find this randomly while walking along.
It’s cool and all but if I saw that thing in the dead of night I would shit a brick
The guardian of the forest telling us “Antlers” will never be released.
Holy crap, a rein-human-deer, looks like a thing from some ancient Finnish mythology! :D
Almost Irvine from berzerk
Imagine the heart attack you'd have encountering that statue in the dark.
Imagine you're just walking in the forest then you hear "hult who goes there!?" And it's just this thing.
Nuckelavee! Oh Nuckelavee!
You're big and evil and heinous!
Omg I love Nuckelavee. I’ve been thinking about them for so long but couldn’t remember what they were called. Thank you so much
Anyone else think it looks like kangaroo jack? Lol
That is a great sculpture park I have photos when the pond was frozen.
OMG I have to see
Very cute picture
Could you imagine how freaky that would be if you were lost in the woods at night and stumbled upon that?
Kinda r/WTF, ngl.
Imagine being there at night.
I bet someone put their dick in that
Lol imagine seeing this in the silhouette of the moon at night.
That’s a spriggan
Thanks I hate it.
Imagine tripping and wanting to enjoy nature and then seeing this!
Reminds me of a Kardashian.
I read that as, "I found this beautiful (stupid) creature at a sculpture park." I am so sorry.
You say beautiful, I say nightmarish, let's call the whole thing off.
Great album artwork.
Which subgenre of metal is it?
You made me want to make it into a bad album cover
Thank you for the clarification that it was carved, I couldn't tell
That's a warning, heed it.
