I did both last year to get enough hours to recert my BCPS.
I like the format of the ASHP better, but it’s a once and done on the test, and often for 3-4 hours worth of reading. So it’s a bigger time suck in that sense.
I found ASHP to be higher yield, but I also like to use PSAP chapters for my students and residents for review articles.
Yes on the time limit - I think they give you 3 or 4 months to get it done. What’s better than PSAPs is the credit shows up in your BPS account same day.
It’s harder to share answers than PSAPs.
Did you end up using ashp or ACCP? I am thinking of ASHP but haven't bought anything yet.
Which package did you buy?
Does anyone know if you are a member of ASHP and bought the 3 year PSAP if you have to be a member for 3 years to use it?
ASHP, found it pretty easy. Bought the 3 year package and easily re-certified. I was a member when I bought it and I paid a one time fee then let my membership expire.
Thank you for clarifying.
So it sounds like as long as I'm a member, I can get the 3 year member price and if my membership lapsed after 1 year, I can still use the psaps I bought for the remaining time until the 3 year is up? Sorry hopefully my question makes sense! I realized it's cheaper to be a member for 1 year and purchase the 3 year ashp recertification (assuming I only need to paid membership for 1 year).
Thanks for clarifying! I'll be doing that. This is my first time doing it. Seems annoyingly stressful. But I rather do this than retake the certification exam 😂

How often does new material come out for ASHP and do you have to do it within a certain time frame like PSAPs?

Would like to know as well.
I recommend just retesting before they expire. That's your best bet for the time and money put in.
I recertfied once via PSAPs. They are time consuming and expensive. Next time, I'm retesting.

That is correct, that’s what I did.
