"Drop In The Park" on 9/20/92. I was 16 years old and it changed everything for me. For those who don't know, it was actually a free secret concert. They were going to announce where they were giving the tickets away over the radio at 6:00am. My friends and I were in a car on the side of the Freeway with almost every Freeway option ahead of us just waiting to hear where to go. They announced that it was Seattle Center, at the time Seattle's small amusement park Downtown. We raced down there and the line was insane. We then heard "HEY GUYS, OVER HERE!" and our Buddy was 6th in line and let us join, to the subtle dismay of those behind us.
We got the tickets and instead of telling you where the show was, they told you where to "meet" on the day of the show, which was University of Washington. Upon arrival there was a line of charter busses as far as the eye could see. You board and they bus you to the show destination which happened to be Magnuson Park. The show was extraordinary.
Cypress Hill had opened and they were unbelievably good. During their set the partitions between the crowd and stage had broken, so they had to pause the concert for a little over an hour until they made it safe enough to continue. During the break Cypress Hill spent the time rolling a ridiculous amount of joints and once they returned to the stage, they thanked everyone for their patience and started throwing all of the joints into the crowd yelling "THIS BUD'S FOR YOU!". They picked up right where they left off and were spectacular live.
I won't get into how incredible PJ were, as I'd be typing for hours, but I saw things during that live show that I've never seen, or even heard of since. Sorry for the rant, but that was one of the greatest days of my young life. What a band.

October 6th, 1991 at the Hollywood Palladium with Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Spinal Tap and Temple of the Dog. Second time was 12-27-91 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena with Nirvana and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Third time was 1-24-92 at the Hollywood Palladium with Fugazi. Fourth time was 5-13-92 again at the Palladium. Fifth time was 7-18-92 Lollapoluza at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View. Was very lucky in my timing of when I moved to Los Angeles. All the Seattle bands played LA a lot around that time

I will forever regret not making this show. Was standing on campus with my then gf and a bottle of captain Morgan. Opted to take her and the bottle back to my apartment for a good time. Hours later my buddy comes running in saying it's the longest they've ever played. Bought that poster for him recently. He's getting married.
Is the bottle or the girl still around? Because that memory it etched deep in my brain. One of my top 5 moments in life. Changed my world. I wasn't really a fan until that night. Now I'm a 20 year 10c member.

Pittsburgh 2000. Amazing show. Opened with Even Flow. Stone got to sing. Awesome cover of Split Enz “I Got You.” The Wash umbrella made it to the stage. Closed with Baba.
That was my 2nd show...I happened to be in college at A.I.P...Was the only show I've ever seen "Sleight Of Hand" at...Ed's preset with Sonic Youth though!! 😉❤️✌️🎸🤘
Sleight of Hand is such an under-appreciated song! Only other time I’ve gotten that one is Charlottesville.
I used to have an mp3 of “Trouble” that Ed performed in the preset but I think that file is long gone. :(
2009 at molson amphitheater in Toronto. Leo and the Pharmacists were supposed to open but Leo got held up at the border so Pearl Jam opened for Pearl Jam, each of the guys came out and played one or two songs - I remember Eddie did Sugar Mountain and Bee Girl - and then Eddie played a few songs with the Pharmacists band. With the lights form the national expo in the background it made for an incredible start to the night.

Yield Tour
Fiddler's Green CO
We were basically in a dead spot sound wise, too far from the stage and directly under the speakers meant for people further back so it sucked. Still enjoyable to see them. Standard setlist at that point still. 20 ish if I remember correctly.
1998 Tibetan Freedom Festival. Day one was cut short due to someone getting struck by lightning, so everyone on day 2 had their sets truncated to cram more people in. Pearl Jam played 8 songs and left the stage and that was supposed to be the end of the festival. Then RHCP ran out and played 3 songs with Pearl Jam’s gear.
ACL 2009! “Year of the mud”. Eddie jumped off stage and did mudslides with the crowd. Ben Harper came and played slide guitar on Red Mosquito too. Incredible show
Balch Field house at CU Boulder in 1993. 2nd night. Urge Overkill and Mudhoney opened. Eddie got a security guard's headset and hung it on the mic stand while they played Leash (he felt the security was being too rough with the kids). Mark Arm came out for Sonic Reducer to end the show. Next night was cancelled by the university over "safety concerns".
Newbie here. Hampton, Virginia 4/18/16. Free ticket through a social media friend. We often admired each other’s record collections. Drove 3.5 hrs from Baltimore last min. Work the next morning was tough but so damn worth it. Nicest folks to talk to waiting in line and everyone was more excited it was my very first PJ show. Met people in the triple digit amount of PJ shows attended. My buddy was on his 94th and got beer during all the big hits and he was all about the deep cuts. By the end of that year or 2017 he was crossing over triple digits. My count is still at 1 but it was so special.
[November 16, 1993. UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, LA](https://youtu.be/QXZOzB_9dB0)
This is a digitalized VHS recording of it. My 14-year-old voice is somewhere in the crowd.
I was 17 in September 1998 when they finally came to my hometown Greenville, SC. Eddie made a comment about the new arena - Something about how they wanted to be the first band to play there but Janet Jackson beat them to it. (edit - Ed comments on how this was the second show held in this venue, with Janet Jackson being first, and "We're like burning sage tonight. We're gonna cleanse the place.")
I went with my brother who was in 10C at the time so we had floor tickets. I think it was Matt's first official tour with the band. I just went back to look at the setlist from that night and there's some rare ones on there - I got id, mankind, and F\*ckin up. There's "Noise of Carpet" on there too but I don't remember it. I'll have to look that one up now.
The crowd went bonkers during the first encore - that was the first time I crowd surfed even though it was involuntary - the pit went crazy and packed in so tight I got lifted off my feet and passed around overhead for a few minutes during GO. My 17 year old brain had never experienced anything like it. I can remember "screaming my lungs out" at the indifference closer in the 2nd encore.
I've been able to see them 8 more times after that one and I'm going to make it 10 this September in Denver. It's crazy how much my musical tastes have changed over the years but PJ remains the constant.

29th May 2000, London England. First cover of timeless melody, Monkeywrench supporting (with Mudhoney members). Great set list and on the tube back into central London I stood next to an American guy writing the set list in his notepad from memory, the 17 year old me asked if I could have a copy and I still treasure it - an early lesson in how great the PJ community is. This gig changed my life! ♥️
Melbourne, Australia 1995. It was being broadcast (maybe live?) on the radio. I remember Eddie telling us not to scream too loud if our parents didn’t know we were at a concert. What I did not remember, when I recently watched a grainy video of that night, is that Dave Grohl played with them on a couple of songs. How I missed that I’ve no idea. Too much excitement.
Brisbane Australia, March '95. Vitalogy tour. I was 12 years old, and went with my 17 year old sister and her boyfriend. I got absolutely thrashed in the pit and it was awesome. I will love them til the day I die.
Wembley Arena, London, October 96.
I was 22 & at that age was keen to stand as close as possible so found myself about 8-10 people back from the rail ‘Stone’s side’.
The band came on in near darkness & Ed lit a big bowl of incense at the side of the stage. Even in the low light you could see the puff of green smoke & clearly smell it. If I close my eyes & breathe in I think I can still smell it now!
Seconds later the band started with Oceans. Perfect.
Sept 24, 1996 Merriweather Post Pavilion Columbia, MD. Childhood buddy I took with me unexpectedly passed away last year. I’ll never forget that concert
Park City, Utah, 1998. I remember Eddie asking folks in the front if their names were Norman because “I was told there are a lot of Normans in Utah.” 🤣🤦🏼♀️
Kansas City, June 12th 2003. Also happened to be my 21st birthday. It absolutely poured during the show. Fucking awesome, seen them 16 times since and going again in September.
Dublin June 2000.
They played Black as one of the encores and Eddie climbed the stack amps, duct taped himself up and jumped into the crowd. I was o my a few feet away.

10/3/05 in Philadelphia. Sleater Kinney opened. Great first show.
I flew up from South Carolina, and I almost backed out due to a bout of social anxiety and depression. Tried to cancel my tickets but I missed the deadline. Very glad I did! It was an amazing experience and getting myself through the anxiety led to a lot of positive changes.
Columbus, OH 2000...Jesus, 22yrs ago this month...Outside of Tenadelphia '16, it was the most insane opening! Breakerfall/Whipping/STBC...They ripped through 7 tunes before Ed even says hello...Useless trivia here, they took the same 7 songs from Columbus, and used them to open their Saratoga Springs show that following week...Also, for being lil' ol' Columbus, Ohio, it was awesome the band slapped on an ape man logo to represent one of their fave shows...Oh, in case anyone may be curious of the 7 tunes...
Breakerfall
Whipping
STBC

- STBC could mean "Spin the Black Circle - Remastered", a track from *Vitalogy* (1994) by Pearl Jam.

March 17, 1994. Elliot Hall of Music. Purdue University. Found a bootleg of it a few years ago... Heres to you Mike Giddens, wherever you are!! Be well.
Toledo, 1995 - Savage Arena, during the height of the Txmaster debacle. The phone service they used to sell tickets crashed and I had to go through a scalper. I would say it was worth it, but a couple of my friends got in through a back entrance by bribing the security guard $20. 😂
Mine will be September 22nd, 2022. Cannot wait! Loved the band since 1993 (I was 8 at the time) and I saw the video for Jeremy on MTV. Finally am in a place where I can afford tickets, and am close enough to a stop they're making.
Camden 2 ‘98, at the age of 14. My dad met a guy who worked at WMMR, and he managed to get tickets for my family. I remember being mortified because my dad forced us to hold hands through the parking lot; I was desperate to feel cool and adult!
Long Road was a sick opener for a first show, and I caught on quickly to how special the fan base is. My sister was only 11, and everyone around us was kind, checking if we were having fun and could see. The guy in front of her turned around during Animal and taught her the “5 against 1” hand motion. Even now, she considers Animal “her” song.
My mom was also converted that night. I joined 10C not long after, and have seen 34 shows since, mostly with her.
My Morning Jacket opened for them? If that's the case then I couldn't get 10c tickets for that show. Had to use TM. Last row at the very top in the very back. Only two seat in the row. Couldn't be further away. But still a great show.
Wednesday June 24, 1998 , Rushmore Plaza Civic Centre, Rapid City, South Dakota $24.30 for my ticket. Opening Act Frank Black of the pixies.
Still have my ticket…… poster….. and all the pics from my disposable camera. Small venue…… incredible night.
9/10/98 Their first MSG show, was incredible. Only thing of not was they teased Yellow Ledbetter and Ed said they played that last night so they played Soldier of Love. We all kept thinking they’d play Yellow Ledbetter after but nope. Irony being if they never played the riff then I wouldn’t have thought that it was missing.
Second Lollapalooza, 1992 in East Troy, WI (back when Lolla was a tour). RHCP were headliners. Soundgarden, Ice Cube, Ministry, Jesus and Mary Chain all on the main stage as well. Eddie climbed way up into the rafters - it was terrifying and exhilarating. They were incredible.
Wrigley Field July 2013, the show where it stormed and they debuted Lightning Bolt and Future Days. The 2.5 hours of nonstop rain was wild and definitely not what I expected for my first show, but I’ll absolutely never forget it.
I was wearing my Alive shirt (with the stickman on the front and a set list on the back) walking to the show with my dad and a lady behind us stops us and asks how old I am. I told her and told her it was my first show. She eventually told us that she was Ed’s mother. We eavesdropped on the conversation she was having with her friends and googled her… and yeah it was definitely her. Never forget that.
Lollapalooza 2, Great Woods, Summer 1992. I didn't know who they were at the time, and it changed everything for me. The fence behind the lawn was torn down and transformed into a series of huge bonfires that people danced around and through, people were being launched into the air by blankets held on each corner. I saw (and participated in) crowd surfing for the first time, going from the lawn to the stage.
Just amazing in every aspect.
milan 2018. i was 14, it was my first ever concert and it was one of the first concerts after eddie lost his voice that tour. mostly slow songs that i didn’t know. i was really far away from the stage and the acoustic weren’t great but it’s pj — it was the best first concert. i still have the shirt and it’s worn thin. it’s my favorite shirt lol.
pinkpop 2022 :) i was crying the whole concert because i always wanted to see them. we managed to get in the front ring and it took sooo long to get there but it was worth it

Camden, NJ. July 5, 2003. My parents didn’t let me go in high school so I had to wait until college.
Great show!
Before Ten was released…Metro in Chicago. PJ opened followed by The Jayhawks…headliner Soul Asylum
ACL 2009! “Year of the mud”. Eddie jumped off stage and did mudslides with the crowd. Ben Harper came and played slide guitar on Red Mosquito too. Incredible show
1991, they opened for Nirvana with RHCP as the headliner I'm Salem Oregon at the national guard auditorium. Still have the ticket. Unbelievable show.
Moline. The No Code show.
State College 2003
Alpine Valley, Oct. 8th, 2000. Rumors are they sold more hot chocolate than beer that night.
Late to the game:( Arnhem, 2011 I believe. I now been 7 times. Absolutely love this band, the music, the ambiance, the people…
Zagreb 2006
London Ontario 2013
Barcelona, Spain, 1996
18th March 1995. Opened with Corduroy. Can still hear it in my mind like it was yesterday.
Drop in the Park - Magnuson Park in Seattle on September 20, 1992
Las Vegas 2006 with Sonic Youth
Nice. That was my first PJ show too.
1996 Augusta Maine.
Hear hear! Still seems ridiculous that they played there, but such were the days of trying to play a non-Ticketmaster tour.
I was there the night before. Still the best concert I have ever been to.
Albuquerque, ‘98. After Ledbetter, Ed smashed a hole in the stage with his mike stand and exited the stage through said hole.
Trieste 2014
That was my first, too!❤️
Would’ve been the one in Prague this year
Newbie here.
Charlotte 96. Fastbacks and Ben Harper opened.
Also my first show!
October 96 Wembley arena, not sure which night though
June 25th 2003 Pine Knob (DTE) Clarkston, MI.
Virginia Beach, 2003. First show of the tour, first since the stage rush in Europe....first time they did "It's OK" during Daughter.
4/3/94 I still can’t believe it
September 29th, 1996 Randall’s Island, NY
Greenville, SC 9/4/1998
[November 16, 1993. UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, LA](https://youtu.be/QXZOzB_9dB0) This is a digitalized VHS recording of it. My 14-year-old voice is somewhere in the crowd.
Hartford, CT 9/13/1998.
We're gonna cleanse the place.") I went with my brother who was in 10C at the time so we had floor tickets. It's crazy how much my musical tastes have changed over the years but PJ remains the constant. edited to add link to setlist: [https://pearljam.com/tour/history/show/bi-lo-center](https://pearljam.com/tour/history/show/bi-lo-center) & here's a bootleg on archive [https://archive.org/details/Pearl\_Jam\_Bootleg\_1998-09-04](https://archive.org/details/Pearl_Jam_Bootleg_1998-09-04)

Halloween at Shoreline Ampitheatre 2000. I saw them the year before at bridge school 99 but that was the first full show.
Rock Werchter 2022.. I'm a new fan.
Stockholm, Sweden, June 28th 2000. I was 12. Eddie opened with a solo set, and then The Dismemberment Plan played and became my second favorite band.
Brisbane Australia, March '95. Vitalogy tour. I was 12 years old, and went with my 17 year old sister and her boyfriend. I got absolutely thrashed in the pit and it was awesome. I will love them til the day I die.
PNC Park Pittsburgh PA September 28th 2005. They opened for the Rolling Stones!
West Palm Beach April 2003
Wembley Arena, London, October 96. I was 22 & at that age was keen to stand as close as possible so found myself about 8-10 people back from the rail ‘Stone’s side’. The band came on in near darkness & Ed lit a big bowl of incense at the side of the stage. Even in the low light you could see the puff of green smoke & clearly smell it. If I close my eyes & breathe in I think I can still smell it now! Seconds later the band started with Oceans. Perfect.
Coming up in about a month!

Detroit - October 7, 2000 [setlist](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pearl-jam/2000/the-palace-of-auburn-hills-auburn-hills-mi-3bd620b0.html)
Kansas City, June 12th 2003. Also happened to be my 21st birthday. It absolutely poured during the show. Fucking awesome, seen them 16 times since and going again in September.
Lollapalooza ‘92
Dublin June 2000. They played Black as one of the encores and Eddie climbed the stack amps, duct taped himself up and jumped into the crowd. I was o my a few feet away. Epic show
LP in '92 I think. Ice Cube and Cypress Hill on small stage. RHCP, Ministry etc on big
Dallas '98 when Rodman came out on stage. I was in high school, awesome show!
Rio de Janeiro, December 4th 2005. Not only my first PJ concert, but my first concert overall. I was 14 years old.
Hartford '96
Bristow, VA, July 1st 2003. It took me way too long to see them given I’d been a fan for a decade at that point.
Lollapolooza 2 - Molson Park Barrie August 5, 1992 Band Line-up Red Hot Chili Peppers Ministry Ice Cube Soundgarden The Jesus and Mary Chain Pearl Jam Lush

[Cleveland 1998](https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pearl-jam/1998/blossom-music-center-cuyahoga-falls-oh-7bd61234.html) - Yield Tour
Lollapalooza 1992 Waterloo New Jersey Edit it was 92 not 91, I was at both

October 20, 1991. They opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins. I had never heard of them.
Rio de Janeiro 2011, and every concert here in Rio in the following tours
Columbus, OH 2000...Jesus, 22yrs ago this month...Outside of Tenadelphia '16, it was the most insane opening! Breakerfall/Whipping/STBC...They ripped through 7 tunes before Ed even says hello...Useless trivia here, they took the same 7 songs from Columbus, and used them to open their Saratoga Springs show that following week...Also, for being lil' ol' Columbus, Ohio, it was awesome the band slapped on an ape man logo to represent one of their fave shows...Oh, in case anyone may be curious of the 7 tunes... Breakerfall Whipping STBC Hail Hail Corduroy In My Tree Dissident 😉❤️✌️🎸🤘
- STBC could mean "Spin the Black Circle - Remastered", a track from *Vitalogy* (1994) by Pearl Jam. --- ^[/u/jeremyequalsawesome](/u/jeremyequalsawesome) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)
Lollapalooza’92 at SPAC. It’ll be 30 years ago this Thursday! It absolutely poured during their set.
March 17, 1994. Elliot Hall of Music. Purdue University. Found a bootleg of it a few years ago... Heres to you Mike Giddens, wherever you are!! Be well.
March 6 1994 paramount theater Denver
May 9, 2022 Gila River Arena, AZ I really want to go again in Denver, but idk if I'll be able to find tickets!
Seattle Key Arena ‘96 No Code on the Road
10/30/93 - San Jose Events Center, San Jose CA Rollins Band opened. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
Toledo, 1995 - Savage Arena, during the height of the Txmaster debacle. The phone service they used to sell tickets crashed and I had to go through a scalper. I would say it was worth it, but a couple of my friends got in through a back entrance by bribing the security guard $20. 😂
I was there, too! (it was sept '96 😉)
Oh lord, it’s finally happening 😂 Thanks!
😅🤘
Mine will be September 22nd, 2022. Cannot wait! Loved the band since 1993 (I was 8 at the time) and I saw the video for Jeremy on MTV. Finally am in a place where I can afford tickets, and am close enough to a stop they're making.
Cincy '06. Not my favorite set list, but the energy at that show was crazy. I've been hooked ever since.
June 1st 2006, East Rutherford, New Jersey, Continental Airlines Arena
My Morning Jacket opened for them? If that's the case then I couldn't get 10c tickets for that show. Had to use TM. Last row at the very top in the very back. Only two seat in the row. Couldn't be further away. But still a great show.
9/24/1996 Merriweather Post Pavillion
Hawaii 98
NYE 1991!
milan 2018. i was 14, it was my first ever concert and it was one of the first concerts after eddie lost his voice that tour. mostly slow songs that i didn’t know. i was really far away from the stage and the acoustic weren’t great but it’s pj — it was the best first concert. i still have the shirt and it’s worn thin. it’s my favorite shirt lol.
Amsterdam ziggodome 2014 We were sat right next to the stage. Love started with the unplugged concert, die hard fan ever since 🤘
pinkpop 2022 :) i was crying the whole concert because i always wanted to see them. we managed to get in the front ring and it took sooo long to get there but it was worth it
