Jets football is BACK, baby
Some very classic JETSing going on right now
We don't need preseason. It already feels like the Jets are in regular season form.
You peeked week 1 preseason feelsbadsman
You know its real then.
Non-contacts have ceilings that aren’t too high but they also have solid floors.
Edit: my idea of bad injury is like a TBI, spine or skull damage, etc. tendons and ligaments are career bad but maybe they can still live a normal life outside of football. Feel free to point out a life altering non contact, I don’t know every injury…
Non-contact injuries can be pretty bad...Teddy Bridgewater can attest to that
Vikings players were literally vomiting on the field it was so brutal
D Rose :(
I miss D Rose.
That injury was fuckin crazy man. From what I remember his knee basically exploded
yeah his whole knee dislocated, it's a super sickening sight. imagine your calf area of your leg just shifting over like 4 inches at your knee, and you'll get a grasp
You must not remember Cadillac Williams...
Its the opposite. Non-contact injuries are much rarer than contact ones but much more likely to be a torn ligament of some sort. Always off a cut like the one Wilson had. Nothing is for sure but there's a reason everyone is RIPing the Jets season. Anyone whose watched sports for a long time has seen this exact scenario a dozen times.
Poor Ryan Tannehill injury #2(1.5)
You can tear your achilles or your patella tendon on a non-contact, that's a pretty high ceiling
You can pretty much tear any kind of ligament with no contact injuries. Tons of opportunities for serious season-ending injuries
Well he grabbed the knee so we can rule out the Achilles.
What if he’s a mutant
"There's Something in his Genes."
ACL is still really really bad
Saleh just said the ACL is supposed to be intact. Current speculation is it’s the PCL. A man can dream!!
what are you talking about? non contacts are almost always huge deals
Essentially every ACL tear I've ever seen in the NBA is non-contact
Its not like dudes are getting tackled in the nba.
Basically. If it’s non contact, it’s basically season over. The biggest contact ACL tear I can think of is Brady in 08 went Pollard tackled him and that was a freak sort of thing.
Most of the time a guy plants his leg trying to make a cut and go down it’s an ACL
Willis McGahee or Marcus Lattimore are the biggest contact knee injuries I can think of.
Man I remember that mcgahee injury so vividly
So do I. I was a kid and I watched on live on a TV in some kind of shop/restaurant in Ghirardelli square in SF. It was horrific enough that memory was imprinted on ~10 year old me.
Burrows ACL tear 2 seasons ago was a contact injury being sandwiched between a high and low hit.
Throws an INT immediately, then gets injured. I hate the Jets.
Jimmy G music.
Jimmy G! Get your Jimmy G here!
Low, low price of your next year’s 2nd rounder.
Nice and hot (facts), Jimmy G! Get your Jimmy G here!
They have Jimmy G at home with Flacco
This. I would consider this year as a microcosm Flacco gets your more wins than a healthy Zach Wilson.
The 2nd rounder would be if it was the Seahawks. Realistically it would be a 5th that gets bumped to a 4th based on playing time.
Seahawks ain’t giving anything to a division rival.
They’ll just roll the dice with Lock or Geno and draft whoever next year if they don’t end up with (handsome) Jimmy.
I agree I'm from Seattle and listen to a lot of sports radio. A few weeks back the idea of Seattle trading for Jimmy (east coast idea) was talked about and the fact Seattle could trade a second to get him. That's why I brought it up. From everything Pet has been saying Seattle isn't going after anyone there isn't a point with next year's draft and the QBs coming out.
I live in the Bay Area and also listen to a ton of sports radio. The most popular sports station here has connections to some beat reporters in Seattle and they state that going after (beautiful) Jimmy has been “discussed.”
I still highly doubt they end up trading anything for him. Seattle will take him no doubt, but only if he’s waived.
The only way Seattle gets him is if he gets cut, but if the Jets lose Wilson than I think he gets traded there. The coaching can't afford to not have a good season.
Slightly used Jimmy G!
Miami gave up a first rounder just to talk to Tom Brady, certainly a 2nd for his former backup to actually play for you is worth it.
#OHHHH, WE GOT IT
#OH, WE GOT IT
Throws many TDs?
#YES, WE GOT IT
*clapity clap clap*
Nah its Mike White SZN!
Whole league is fucked especially the Bengals
Care for some Darnold? We got some left over.
im questionable for the rest of the season
My excitement levels were high, I nearly paid for NFL gamepass in Australia (over $200). Thank fuck I didn't.
You're in Australia, no one will judge you if you change team
Wouldn't change. I'd rather live in misery than change.
I was just saying how awful was to be up in the middle of the night here (Croatia) to watch my Jets get destroyed, for all these years. I remember last year realizing that we have a bye week and all of the stress for the weekend just dissolved.
This year was gonna be different, we had hope.
Hope until week 2
Which is honestly two more than usual.
"I am altering the Jets quarterback, pray I don't alter it any further." - God
I hate everything.
There are no words. Part of a purchase of a ticket should include free mental health resources.
I've heard there is another team around here that will provide a medium Pepsi to drown your sorrows in. Going to look into that.
Get it without ice. That way you can secure more soda
You see this was my strategy as a kid. Everyone just thought I liked warm soda. I'm not weird I'm economical.
*if you provide proof of season ticket ownership. Mr Mara isn’t made of money.
How did you think that meeting went? Season ticket holders aren't peasants, especially in NY. These are 7 and 8 figure guys and the execs thought a $1 soda was going to dazzle them?
Do you think they started with a large soda and a hot dog but Mara said no way, medium only no hot dog?
Tbh based on the actions of Mara from the post Eli era I assume it was something like “eh, I have my rings, fuck those fans.”
I feel for y’all bro, this sucks
Really sorry. I hate preseason games.
This season is already over before it began.
Fuck that. You still got an "elite" backup.
That is until you actually watch him play on the Jets
Just give us week 1. Then you can put him away.
Garappolo to NY incoming.
Sorry dude. Thought he might flash this year, too.
I yearn for the peace of sweet oblivion.
You’ll have Jimmy G as your starting QB by Sunday.
Rita will finally be able to rest
You could have Jimmy G and win like 7 to 8 games next year and draft somewhere in the early teens OR you could have Gardner Minshew who will win you 4 and he along with Zach can please every mom in the New York metropolitan area. I would also assume that his impact in the big apple will have the fashion world go crazy. We’ll take a 3rd
Terrible. Hope he’s ok
I’m so sorry dude. Even when things have a tiny slither of hope for the Jets it all comes crashing down…
This is proof there is no god as even he wouldn’t torture the Jets fanbase like this for so long.
It really is every fucking year huh
We really can’t have anything
When I was a kid, I was into The New York Jets. And then I got into girls as I got older, and then I got back into the Jets because I'd realized there's times when the girl won't fuck you, but the Jets will always fuck you. - Artie Lange
This is true, I am not a Jets fan but whenever I need them to lose a game to secure my parlay they win it, usually by pulling off a comeback.
As is tradition.
That's funny but Lange was a Giants fan...dude just loved shitting on the Mets and Jets.
>Lange was a Giants fan
You just made me look up whether or not he was still alive.
Is there a shirt with this on it?
We have more than enough misfortune to go around
Maybe there's like this Samson and Delilah situation where Joe Namath's hair was the soul and core of the Jets Franchise destiny.
I love football.
If this is legitimately serious I’d bet on Jimmy G
Would honestly be a perfect fit with Saleh and MiFleur
We call him MiLF
Zach Wilson’s ears perked up and he suddenly feels better
God, incoming Browns/Jets bidding war? Big brain 49ers moves to hold onto him this long
Eagles got a first round pick out of Sam Bradford because they waited until the inevitable camp injury that would make someone desperate for a starting caliber QB.
What about Flacco
Elite Dragon vs White night would be a tough battle
Jets football is literally a totally different thing than football for me. It's like sports entertainment vs actual sports. Once a week I get to watch these goofballs and then I get to enjoy actual football afterwards.
When Brady threw the last second TD to beat the Jets last season, there was a quick shot of a father and son in the stands, both in Jets gear. The kid looked shocked and sad. The dad was looking at the kid and had a wry smile on his face, like he was saying to the kid “First time, eh?”
It's like if the Washington Generals joined the NBA. But then people would realize that there is nothing special about the Globetrotters (because to the Generals, every team was the Globetrotters), it was always just the way the universe said the Generals and Jets games have to play out.
How’d you train yourself to do that? I would *love* to actually watch this team play instead of switching to RedZone at about 2:00 every Sunday
I didn't start following the team until 2016 or so, so they've literally always been bad while I've watched them. Having zero memories of the team being good definitely makes it easier to just treat them like a weekly sports sitcom.
You last until 2pm? I can barely get past the first quarter
This is why there should be no preseason games. Just three weeks where every team plays each other in a big round of Madden to get their reps in.
Or maybe tell your franchise QB that it’s a fucking preseason game and to slide instead of trying to juke.
Shades of Jimmy juking upfield to tear his ACL
Visions of Drew Brees getting injured in a meaningless game and then going on to have a HOF career with another team
burn this franchise to the god damn ground
I picked a hell of a year to get sober.
Hang in there.
Keep at it, bro. This is just a game, your life isn’t.
Congrats on the sobriety brother. So proud of you.
Thanks bro! 107 days and still going strong.
Today was 10 years for me and only one friend and my brother remembered, AND I'm a Minnesota sports fan, so I feel you. You can do it though man, the benefits far outweigh the negatives in my experience
Wow....ten years?! Congrats!! I'm at 107 days, and yeah, it's already made a world of difference.
You got this shit.
I don't understand why they juke, just go down. Especially in preseason. Jimmy did the exact same thing and he ended up tearing his acl.
Instinct. Hard to turn off
also fascinates me how this happens so often to NFL players but basketball and soccer players do this hundreds of times a game and don't get injured
There's plenty of knee ligament tears in soccer. Often defenders back peddling or players making the same sort of running cuts
Edit: [EPL Injury List](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php) this is just the reported injuries for the Premier League and there's plenty of long term knee injuries on that list. Now multiply that by all the leagues around the world with massive soccer structures/rosters.
Soccer is normally on grass where it's easier for the turf to give way. Juking on synthetic is the opposite, the turf doesn't give .. and something has to.
Well the turf does give at first then it rebounds like a trampoline sending the force bag into your leg
Yeah, AS Roma have a turf training facility and their list of knee injuries is arguably one of the worst in world soccer
It's nuts that turf is obviously part of the problem but some organizations are okay with putting their entire rosters, millions of dollars of investment, on the the line like that.
Is it the real grass that helps? Why not just play on an entire field of plain dirt? Anything but the artificial turf...
Soccer players wears cleats, but i believe you are correct in that cleats increase risk.
Cleats on turf, in particular, increase risk
Soccer players wear cleats. Different kind but cleats.
They're also not unusually large for their frames. That'll kill your joints.
Yeah, that's more likely.
Zach ain’t that big
Gonna need confirmation from his mom’s friend
They said the injury was to his right leg not the middle one
He weighs 215, which is more than any soccer player I could think of off the top of my head.
Zlatan is 209 at 6'5". Giroud is 201 at 6'4". Soccer players just have very different body types and almost always play on grass.
They do get ligament injuries a decent amount, but it's also on a natural field more than turf. On top of that I think the actual way they pivot and cut while moving is different, you're trying to get a ball on the field to avoid the opposition not your body. Also they aren't getting tackled by a 300lb man while they have their foot planted.
Soccer players for sure have cleats.
I’ll add soccer players focus on these moves for a living. They do this 100 times a day and build themselves more specifically for that purpose.
The legs on soccer players are unreal. I know the NFL is peak athletes, but you are right here. Plus the NFL over loads up top creating too much weight on the joints compared to soccer players which run much more lean.
Different type of athlete at the end of the day
No toe cleat though.
Soccer players aren’t exerting the force on their muscles/ligaments that NFL players are. Football plays are 5-15 second bursts of maximum output, repeated. Torque is maximized in sometimes harmful ways. Soccer players (and basketball players) are playing a continuous game. Still fast, still high-energy, but less frequent maximum output straining joints/ligamend, and more wear and tear from endurance-related strains instead.
That makes sense. But I also can't help but think there are other factors involved like NFL strength training methods and the body-type differences themselves.
You're right. It was a silly move to juke inside. The defense even slowed down to let him go out of bounds without contact.
Brutal night. Hope it's nothing serious
looked like he might’ve blew a ligament
Oh, no biggie then
Tis but a flesh wound
Elway didn’t need it right 😥
Just texted my buddy that he suffered A mom contact injury. Best autocorrect ever
The chanclas 💀
Non contact knee injury? Rarely ok..
Oh Jets. I'm sorry.
i can’t do this anymore
Jimmy G come on down
That sucks since it seems like a non-contact injury and those are usually bad. Hopefully it's a tweak and not an ACL.
Dude should have just run out of bounds, why the hell are you cutting up the field when 250+ lb dudes are going to level you in an open field in a meaningless game. I know it's a freak injury but just take the easy yards and stay healthy as much as possible.
Running out of bounds doesn’t guarantee you don’t get blasted….
Yeah for sure as Jalen showed, but it lessens the odds of it happening because then it's a penalty.
That hit on Hurts was bullshit
Jordan Davis was right behind him and runs a 4.7 so could have caught him. That’s a 350 pound dude
Take a page out of the rams book and don't play a single starter in preseason and lose every single game! Wtf are you doing
Jimmy G szn
Salah and Jimmy reunion
Eh why? They don't have much of a reason to stay competitive if Wilson misses extended time.
At least I get to laugh at those Jets fans who were optimistic.
They turned me into The Joker long ago. I know better. It's a comedy. Always has been.
Sure as shit didn’t look good
Maybe Joe Flacco really is still a starter in this league
[Here is the video](https://twitter.com/MikeGiardi/status/1558242989390151682).
I don't want to frighten you, Jets fans, bt it looked like the ACL tear of Edelman in 2017.
Thought to be an ACL tear, per Mario Pilato
[Unfortunately I am very concerned this is an ACL tear. I 🙏🏽 he avoided the dreaded non-contact injury.](https://twitter.com/pff_mario/status/1558250720037507072?s=21&t=kqMfxxoVmI63Xn39YyapPA)
Jets fans didnt even have enough time to catch a buzz during this game for everything to fall apart
It was supposed to be Watson, but God's secretary fucked up the spelling.
Sorry Jets fans. But..
Joe Flacco vs Lamar Jackson week 1!
That game needs to be flex to primetime!!!
Non contact injury it looks like. That's rough.
Jimmy bidding war season
The jets have had the hardest schedule literally every year since i started to regularly watch football, and they always have terrible injury luck. Darnold got fucking mono lmao. I feel bad for jets fans.
and because of the hard schedule we always get the lesser draft pick against people with the same record. The difference in us getting Q Williams and Nick Bosa. So fucking stupid
Jets are back!
Absolutely brutal for him. Hoping it’s nothing serious.
It's that season again
Hard to imagine this game going worse for the Jets
He's probably under a lot of groin strain
Just slide my dude
This is why the Rams didn’t play Stafford last August
He's just trying to get moms to tend to him. Hope it's nothing serious
Too busy milf-hunting.
This is why you wait til after preseason to play fantasy
I am dead inside.
Jimmy to Jets?
It’s a fucking preseason game and he’s running like it’s the last quarter of a playoff run.. unbelievable..
God I feel so bad for jets fans. Just when it was looking up, bekhton and now Wilson. Fans were excited the whole off-season just to get blue balled. Don’t give up jets fans, stafford was hurt his first 2 years then threw for 41 TDs his third year.
