I will always have a soft spot for #5. One of the more underrated QBs, and was a major role in why I’m such a Niners fan today. Was he Montana/Young? No, but he’s possibly the best QB we’ve had since that era ended.
Undoubtedly the best QB since Young. Like, it’s not even close. And he caught sooo much flak while taking that half-baked team to places they had no business going. Might be my favorite football player of all time, certainly top-5.
Eagle fan here and can agree as well. Carried us in 06 when McNabb went down.
Don’t remember what happened but I wish he would have stayed in Philly.
I think people stopped believing in him as a starter after he didn’t work out in Cleveland, but cmon, it’s Cleveland!?
Same. Loved him in 07 and he was the last QB to take us to the playoffs before Brady.
He kinda seems like a douchebag tho.
[Read about his life](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/iujg1u/fourtime_pro_bowler_jeff_garcia_had_two_older/), it’s unforgettably sad.
I’m sure it is. And I’m not trying to discredit any of that. But his “Mina Kimes can’t criticize the 49ers because she’s a girl who never played” argument was incredibly lame.
He’s not imperfect, was hit with a DUI too. But yeah, still a sad story, the road to redemption and whatnot.
Oof. I never heard that before, that’s unfortunate
Calgary stampeders legend
Thumbnail looks like Herbert if he was a Puddle of Mudd fan.
It’s Jeremy Shockey, in case anyone’s curious.
God damn that is accurate
Me and my friends used to play 90s post grunge and nu metal songs for fun as a joke, we called our garage cover band "puddle of butt"
Dan Campbell kicked the crap out of that helmet
I was at this game candlestick was rocking like never before
Same. I was there and when the giants scored right before halftime, and I remember a guy in front of me saying “it’s going to take one of the greatest comebacks of all time to win this game.” And then it happened!
a lot of people left when it got to 38-14...man those people missed out big time.
I started reading a book because I figured it was over, but heard the crowd going wild on the TV and looked up to see the score getting closer.
Jeff Garcia's family history is the stuff of nightmares and dramatic Hollywood movies.
Huge respect of overcoming that trauma and becoming a successful NFL quarterback.
I’m gonna have to dive in to this…
I have a very specific memory of watching this game with my friends and then getting in the car to go to the movies and see Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
We were so caught up in the drama of the game that we left late and missed the beginning of the movie.
Yo if the holder spiked the bobbled snap on 3rd down that would've gone down as the highest IQ play of the decade in all sports.
I’m pretty sure that would have ended the game.
You’re only allowed to spike the ball if you take the snap from under center. In this case, spiking the ball would have been intentional grounding, which I believe would come with a 10-second runoff at this stage of the game.
Either way, would've loved to see it.
Caleb Hanie did this against OAK once
Also the greatest single game performance by a WR ever imo
Terrell Owens had 177 yards and 2 TDs and 2 2PCs, and he even had a pass for 25 yards that set up another TD for the Niners
But the numbers don't tell the whole thing, both his TDs came after breaking tackles and it seemed like every reception for him was for a 1st down
Damn I forgot all about that. And I was a niners FSN back in the day.
One my fondest 49er memories. My brother is a huge Giants fan so this was a really fun game to watch when we were younger and really getting into football.
I remember watching this game as a kid. The niners were getting absolutely wrecked. I had to run an errand with my parents, and caught the end of the game on the radio.
I still remember the shock and excitement of the announcers when the 49ers came back.
Hell of a game.
I'm glad that Eagles fans have the same appreciation for Garcia as it seems us 9ers fans do. As disappointed as I am that he didn't stay on the roster, it was best for him to get out of all the disrespect and show his toughness across the league.
Did anyone hear really think he was gay
He married a Playmate of the Year and has kids with her.
The perfect cover
Just wait until the "Garoppolo is gay" rumors fly, Kiara Mia was an even worse beard.
Anal Bang Bros MiLF vs. POTY. You decide.
He's definitely not. I lived in Calgary when he played for the Stamps, and saw him in the bar one night after he seemed to have had a few too many. Dude was hitting on every chick in the bar. It was a little funny actually, he kept getting shot down and then his buddies sort of escorted him out, probably to catch a cab.
Not that it matters but I’m fairly certain he is.
Based on what?
He has a high-pitched voice, that's all it took to accuse someone of being gay.
Best Mooch quote ever: "Bummer."
I was at this game. It was a lot of fun.
Growing up in the Bay, Jeff Garcia was one of my favorite non-Broncos players. Dude was so much fun to watch.
I loathe anything 49er related, but Garcia was always underrated.
Niners last QB to make the pro bowl
Did the Giants bench their starters in the 3rd qtr or am I remembering wrong?
Only to go to the Ray Jay the next week and get slaughtered by the Bucs unfortunately.
