I look forward to another NFL season where Tress Way is the best player on our team and also graded as the worst punter in the league by PFF and analytic nerds.

I just love how his NFL Films official intro is him getting lightly bopped after a punt. Probably made his arm sore for a while.
You don't necessarily love having him on the field for your team (tho last year with the Browns he outplayed expectations), but you DEFINITELY love having him on the sidelines and in your team's locker room.
You're not even that hated within the division. Especially among younger fans, Washington is probably the least hated divisional rival among all three other fanbases.
Fair, considering weāre never a real threatā¦Iām just old enough to remember the glory days in the 80s and early 90s. Hope to get back there someday before I shuffle off this mortal coilā¦
Good signing. On top of the competition with Howell, he seems like exactly the kind of guy (kinda like Rivera) to keep a team steady during an ownership change.
Professional, good locker room guy, I assume the money's not gonna be big. Can't knock it.
How was he acting like Brissett is a stud lol? That's not what I read from that at all. He literally just said that nothing is guaranteed, especially with a 5th round pick. An unproven 5th round pick, I might add.
I think the Commanders are probably planning on rolling Howell out to start the season because he's an unknown quantity and it's therefore possible he's better than Brissett. There's also a chance he's a flop and he's not as good as Brissett one way or another. In that case, it would be wise to switch to Brissett sooner rather than later.
They went with Heinicke over him last year. I doubt Rivera is going to stick with Howell if it becomes clear that Brissett gives them a better chance to win.
Shout out to that This is the End series about the NBA 2k.
https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/6/3/5772796/nba-y2k-series-finale-the-death-of-basketball
Its long and old, but one of the funniest things ever made imo.
And the teams are working on a trade, feels pretty promising.
And the player went on (basically) national news program and asked the Packers to move on.
Happy with this. Great locker room presence who can step in and ball if needed. Exactly the guy I was hoping for when I heard we were looking for a potential backup.
they only missed it by a slim margin this year and their floor the last few years has been 7-9 so to see this team possibly sneak 3 wins to win a wild nfc east is not out of the question
I mean, we went 2-3-1 in the division last season. We were a .500 team, it's not like we sucked. We've got playmakers on offense and a solid defense. If we upgrade positions of need and get anything at all from Howell, we could reasonably improve on 8-8-1, and any improvement on that might mean a playoff game. Don't let the ownership situation distract you from the fact that the actual team isn't total trash.
And it's not like any other division in the NFC looks that great. Maybe the Seahawks and Niners make the playoffs again, but I doubt the NFC South will send 2 teams, and the NFC North is really up in the air with the Vikings defensive rebuild, the Packers moving on from Rodgers, and the Bears still not fully knowing what they have with Fields and their offense.
We were 0.500 last year with terrible QB play and one of the toughest schedules in the league. One more win and we'd have made the playoffs. Adding just an average QB would have got us there.
> Adding just an average QB would have got us there.
You better hope Howell turns out to be average, because if not, [hoo](https://stathead.com/football/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=HeinTa00&p1yrfrom=2022&player_id1=BrisJa00&p2yrfrom=2022&sum=0&request=1&utm_campaign=2023_01_wdgt_player_comparison&utm_source=pfr&utm_medium=sr_xsite&utm_id=BrisJa00) boy...
While I disagree that they're a playoff team, the Giants are regression candidates and the Cowboys are the Cowboys. Not to mention the NFC as a whole kinda sucks
we were half a game out with heinicke and wentz taking turns being starters, undoubtedly eagles are the favorites to win the division but top 7 in the NFC seems pretty doable with a clear QB upgrade.
The problem is we still don't have a clear qb upgrade. Brissett is more of the same, and even if he is better than Heinicke/Wentz/Howell, we're kinda in a bad spot since he's only on a 1 yr deal.
We're on pace for the same ol same ol, *unless* Howell actually pans out.
> We're on pace for the same ol same ol, unless Howell actually pans out.
It's amazing to me at how many people in this fanbase don't see this. They are actually trying to talk themselves into Jacoby freakin' Brissett.
It was an exceptionally weak year for the NFC overall. We had a whole division finish under .500 and 3 teams that were preseason contenders completely fall flat and hit nowhere near their expectations. I'd be surprised to see it go that way again.
Massive win for Washington. Big upgrade over Wentz and Howell looked really good in his (albeit limited sample size) showing. Sleeper playoff team I think
You mean QB1.5? He's widely regarding as a high end backup and advanced metrics loved him last year (top 10 in DVOA, EPA/play, QBR). He's about as good as cheap bridge QBs come.
Browns fans in shambles. They've been screaming from the rooftops for days how someone was going to make their same mistake and Lamar would be gone from the division and then the same thing would happen to the Bengals next year. They've already got AFCN Champs shirts made.
Idk what Browns fans youāre talking to, but I can tell you neither me or any of my friends are confident the Browns will win the AFCN next year. I havenāt even seen many Browns fans on here say that
Check your sub. They're talking about how the AFCN has collapsed because the Bengals lost two safeties, ravens lost Ben Powers and Josh Oliver, and someone is taking Lamar. They're crowning themselves offseason Champs.
Itās literally just ppl saying the AFCN has lost talent this offseason, which is objectively true. Not many ppl are āscreaming from that rooftopsā that the Browns are for sure gonna win the AFCN though lol
Not a chance Houston gives up #2 overall to pay Lamar when they could have Bryce Young for 5 years on the cheap. Colts are a wild card but I'd say pick #4 puts them in a similar enough spot, especially with reports that they like Levis.
Lamar will be a Raven next year.
This is just smoke and mirrors so they can sign Lamar. Just like the last 14 QB signings have been. Every team is only signing QBs so they can trade them away and sign Lamar.
How much help does Tress Way need?
I look forward to another NFL season where Tress Way is the best player on our team and also graded as the worst punter in the league by PFF and analytic nerds.
Tress way should be MVP
Tress Way IS the MVP
This is the Way. He's the Commandalorian.

Tress Bae š„°
got his autograph at training campā¦heās the one that got away
Tre Way
Starting holder competition?
LFG Jacoby! Go be great.
Jacoby is the people's QB
Love him. Plays hard.
You don't necessarily love having him on the field for your team (tho last year with the Browns he outplayed expectations), but you DEFINITELY love having him on the sidelines and in your team's locker room.
I loved him on the field before he got hurt.
He was a top half starter last year before dipshit came back, the difference with him vs Baker in 2021 was night and day.
[ŃŠ“алено]
In my last two franchises he took the Commanders to back to back super bowls. This is a smart move.
From one hated franchise to another. I definitely hope he balls out!! He was great for us and hate to see him go!
Not so much the franchise. Just the owner.
Can confirm. Even WE hate Snyder.
I hope that motherfucker Amelia Earharts in the Atlantic when he finally fucks off to England
Yeah I think most NFL fans respect Rivera plenty, even if he's not an elite Head Coach or anything.
Yeah Dan siphons so much hate that's there's not much left for the team.
Are we really hated outside the NFCE? I always thought it was more pity than hatred, outside of Snyder himself.
You were still less hated, even when you were better than them. I mean, FFS, Buddy Ryan?
God fuck that guy.
> Washington is probably the least hated divisional rival among all three other fanbases. Ever since the Cardinals left.
Misery loves company. Come join me!
Good signing. On top of the competition with Howell, he seems like exactly the kind of guy (kinda like Rivera) to keep a team steady during an ownership change. Professional, good locker room guy, I assume the money's not gonna be big. Can't knock it.
Veteran QB who isn't a very exciting option, perfect backup to a young QB in his first starting season
Makes sense, he could easily be the starter there.
They're sticking with Howell which I don't hate TBH. Dude looked solid in his little sample size might as well check if he's legit
Nah itās Howell
It's Howell for now, but nothing is guaranteed for long, especially for a fifth round pick.
You're acting like Brisset is a stud. Rather run with the rookie than career backup man
Where did I act like that? What did I say to suggest that? lol
Prob your flair. He saw red. Or blue in this case
Look at you with your facts and reason. I'm proud of you, you did good today Bipedal, you did good.
They went with Heinicke over him last year. I doubt Rivera is going to stick with Howell if it becomes clear that Brissett gives them a better chance to win.
I see what youāre saying but Rivera didnāt want to start a rookie qb
He was way better than Watson last season thatās for sure
Weird way to spell Lamar
I mean, we haven't had a real look at Howell and Jacoby said he wanted to go somewhere he could have a chance to compete for starting
Brissett played pretty well last year, Howell is not going to get handed that job.
i donāt see him beating out jacoby in camp
State > UNC. Brissett gonna beat out Howell.
It's Howell for now. If he struggles in camp or early on he could easily be benched. Rivera is on the hot seat.
He can either be the starter all season or starter half the season
Championship aspirations

Our fanbase knows how to comeback! We got that Alex smith in us.

I mean Tom Brady was a nice break up but everything before and after TB12 has been poverty for NE
Brisket is a good man
Big Brisket guy
I love Jacob Brisket
He played better than Watson.
I canāt get over how utterly wack the commanders is as a name.
So happy for my boy š„²
Glad that heās so well regarded by fans of the teams heās been on, ours included.
He's coming to the worst organization in the league I wouldn't be too happy
Thank god we got that Rodgers news or I would be buggin out about this signing
It's basically just Carson Wentz left at this point, right?
Mariota,Bridgewater, and Minshew and few other low end options
If those aren't the low end options then I hate to see what are.
Mason Rudolph, Gabbert, Peterman, Driskel, Drew lock, Nate Sudfeld, Cooper rush, Kyle Allen, branden allen, rypien, wolford, mcsorley, Perkins, Josh Johnson and Buechele.
Fuck there are a lot of shit QBs in the nfl. It's almost impressive.
It reminds me of madden free agency during the season nothing but 68 overall and lower players that are still unsigned
Shout out to that This is the End series about the NBA 2k. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/6/3/5772796/nba-y2k-series-finale-the-death-of-basketball Its long and old, but one of the funniest things ever made imo.
This, Tebow in the CFL, and 17776 are Jon Boisās best work.
Jon Bois deserves to be recognized as the DaVinci of our times.
I remember when people were saying the cowboys should get rid of Dak to keep Cooper Rush
Wasnāt it Skip Bayless who went on a tirade and said the Cowboys would have won a game if Rush was in instead of Dak
I dont remember for sure but that sure sounds like Skip
Yeah, I was like, "I have no idea. But yes."
I thought rush had a few good games last season. I'm sure someone will work with him
Thereās the corpse of Matt Ryan, but yeah
Except nothing is done, Rodgers just said he wants to play for the jets
And the teams are working on a trade, feels pretty promising. And the player went on (basically) national news program and asked the Packers to move on.
That's what I said a week ago lmao.I just want it to end
What Rodgers news?
That heās a tool
Was hoping heād back up hurts
uh-oh, times going to do that "I am a flat circle" thing and we're going to get Mariota or Wentz as the back up! lol
Iāve already talked myself into welcoming Carson back
Welcome back ~~Kotter~~ Carson.
Just not Carson Briere
Just resign Minshew
I'll tell Howie to go check the #VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!
makes sense since he's always good enough to get more playing time somewhere else where the QB situation is up in the air
Guess weāll just have to settle for Hurts playing every game
But what about when we are up 30 in the fourth
Well that hurts
Good move for them
Happy with this. Great locker room presence who can step in and ball if needed. Exactly the guy I was hoping for when I heard we were looking for a potential backup.
Fly high you beautiful dove
Congrats Brissett! DC youāre getting a hell of a guy And now I pass this onto you: https://i.imgur.com/Lz1OO4T.jpg
Go get em champ
A Better person and a better quarterback (at least last year) for us compared to who we have now. Take care of him Commies
This is a sneaky playoff team next year
should have been a playoff team last year until Rivera set their season on fire by starting Carson Wentz against the Browns
In other news the nfl has increased the playoffs to a 12 team tournament in each conference
You are a Jets fan good god
they only missed it by a slim margin this year and their floor the last few years has been 7-9 so to see this team possibly sneak 3 wins to win a wild nfc east is not out of the question
Oh yeah? RemindMe! 10 months

I'm a card carrying member of Sam[Howell]'s Club, but if he isn't what we hope he is, Jacoby Briskett ain't taking this team anywhere.
NFCE runs the NFC
A whole division can make the playoffs tbf
And it's not like any other division in the NFC looks that great. Maybe the Seahawks and Niners make the playoffs again, but I doubt the NFC South will send 2 teams, and the NFC North is really up in the air with the Vikings defensive rebuild, the Packers moving on from Rodgers, and the Bears still not fully knowing what they have with Fields and their offense.
I could see 4 division winners and the whole NFCE making the playoffs. But anything can happen
A whole division almost did this past season, but the 4th team decided to be ousted.
Wait, they couldāve been eliminated?
We were 0.500 last year with terrible QB play and one of the toughest schedules in the league. One more win and we'd have made the playoffs. Adding just an average QB would have got us there.

While I disagree that they're a playoff team, the Giants are regression candidates and the Cowboys are the Cowboys. Not to mention the NFC as a whole kinda sucks
Hard to see this as the signing that takes them over the hump of that division. Would need a pretty big regression from all three other teams.
we were half a game out with heinicke and wentz taking turns being starters, undoubtedly eagles are the favorites to win the division but top 7 in the NFC seems pretty doable with a clear QB upgrade.

No it's not lmao
A sneaky play in tournament team.
Massive win for Washington. Big upgrade over Wentz and Howell looked really good in his (albeit limited sample size) showing. Sleeper playoff team I think
NFCE is going to be a bloodbath again
The Journeyman's Journey continues.
Well at least I already like the Commanders. Really would've liked him though.
He'll probably be the best backup in the NFL assuming Howell starts
Honestly, as a backup/competition to Howellitzer, not a bad move.
Commies really got something brewing
1. Stockpile as many backups as possible 2. Wait for the QB injuries to start piling up 3. Profit
West Berlin on high alert
Pay this reliable QB2.5 !
Heās less than a backup QB???
thatās pretty harsh 2.5 is like Drew Lock tier
Thatās a very fair assessment
You mean QB1.5? He's widely regarding as a high end backup and advanced metrics loved him last year (top 10 in DVOA, EPA/play, QBR). He's about as good as cheap bridge QBs come.
NFC East def still gonna be a dog fight and we donāt have the AFC South for free wins anymore.
QB1
Thatās not Lamar
No one wants to sign an injured running QB on the decline to a long term guaranteed deal.
He stay
Browns fans in shambles. They've been screaming from the rooftops for days how someone was going to make their same mistake and Lamar would be gone from the division and then the same thing would happen to the Bengals next year. They've already got AFCN Champs shirts made.

It's a weird day when going to DC is an upgrade.
It is he has a chance to start in DC and doesn't have a chance to start here, glad to see he gets a shot
Biggest qb news of the day
NC State usually beats UNC. Jacoby about to win that starting gig. Let's go Brissett! #PackPros
Big for the Lamar speculation. Leaves Houston and Indy as the only two teams that have a need and could make the move.
Not a chance Houston gives up #2 overall to pay Lamar when they could have Bryce Young for 5 years on the cheap. Colts are a wild card but I'd say pick #4 puts them in a similar enough spot, especially with reports that they like Levis. Lamar will be a Raven next year.
If the jets canāt get Rodgers they are gonna be left with Zach Wilson & Carson Wentz
Chuck Norris still out there.
Best QB on the roster
If so- imagine what heāll do to the cowboys considering what Howell did.
You just cooked him
Left hand up brotha
I'm gonna take this comment as Brissett slander, which I do not tolerate.
JaGOATby.
I am le sad š was hoping the Texans would sign him
This is just smoke and mirrors so they can sign Lamar. Just like the last 14 QB signings have been. Every team is only signing QBs so they can trade them away and sign Lamar.
Idk why but this just makes sense to me. Seems like the perfect guy to fit Bienemy
#fuck
Brissett vs. Howell should be a fun QB battle
I wanted him as a backup in KC, but maybe this way he gets to start?
Who doesn't want this guy to succeed?
I love this for the Commies. Think he can do great things there, and I love the roster
I actually called this a couple of days ago. I think itās a good signing.
Get to the back of the line, old man
They got their guy
Madden legend Jacoby Brissett
It was an honor jacoby. Go get that money
Happy for the guy, can finally go back to rooting for him now that heās out of that dumpster.
But is he ready to uh, start to take command?
Solid move.
Eventually he's gonna play for every team
