Surely you shouldn't be allowed to skydive solo If you are prone to getting seizures etc?

traker998

He did not disclose it and had not had one in a while.

[He did disclose it, and had been cleared by his doctor to jump.](https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/skydiver-christopher-jones-has-seizure-during-jump-saved-by-instructor-1.2978044)

Thank you for clarifying Edit: not sarcasm.

So he had a seizure and then he saved a person? Wow what a guy.

Affectionate-Spot233

You beat me to it

InsideEmployee

no?

Tomburgerstand

I think he got knocked out when another skydiver accidentally slammed into him. There's a full version showing that part online somewhere

X7123M3-256

No, he had a seizure. [Here is the full video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55QUQHm2B5A).

traker998

He had a history of seizures but hadnt had one in a while so thought it would be okay. Was not okay.

Tomburgerstand

My bad, thought it was this video https://www.reddit.com/r/nextfuckinglevel/comments/ntdhmd/man_saves_a_friend_who_got_knocked_out_by_another/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Having a seizure midair is pretty terrifying

Solivagant23

Wow! That's amazing, he is lucky to have a friend who noticed he was in trouble!

jjpdijkstra

Definitely a no go on the form for skydiving.

rekt_ralph91

He had a letter from his physician clearing him.

beardar

Chances of dying are quite small right? Due to the automatic deploy low altitude system, right?

figolan

Yeah the reserve would deploy but you wouldn't be steering it

beardar

Also this guy cant steer it :/

Christin96

Aaaand that's why I will never fucking skydive, I'll just jump off a cliff if I apparently wanna die that badly. Bish nooooo

FrostyClocks

Couldnt they create a safety altimeter that deploys the chute at a certain height?

X7123M3-256

They do, it's called an [AAD](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_activation_device). Most skydivers have them now.

FrostyClocks

Cool. Thanks.

IsItTooLateForReddit

At least he cant hit his head on anything for a good while...
