The cosplay medic, not all heroes wear capes.
By - NoIndust
This guy is fucking lad!
Edit: in a moment of weakness, my grammar for this comment was absolute shite but I shall let it persist in its flawed beauty.
I will fight you
I’m confused as to what you’re referring to as being shite, but I will choose to be offended by your comment regardless.
I don’t wanna fight so i said it’s shite, which is what u said.
Christ alive, I want to be mad but you’re being too GOD DAMN REASONABLE.
I don't want solutions! I want to be angry!
When did my wife join reddit??
I thought the same thing
Take my gold you funny bastard.
This is what most people like that really want to say, but do not have the introspection/self-reflection necessary to see it
Honey, is that you??
It’s okay, how about we follow each other? Seems neutral…
You're like "you're right but fuck you 凸ಠ益ಠ) 凸" to the other guy
If you want to blow off some steam from this confusing convo I charge 20 bucks to punch me in the face. Every punch after that is an addition 5 dollars
I enjoyed this entire exchange a lot.
***the good ending***
Even through all of these comments, I can tell that you are so beautifully British and I love it.
I’ll fight over this shite because I’m having a piss.
“Shite” is a common spelling/pronounciation of “shit” in the UK and Ireland
Did you just attempt to correct an already correct spelling and get upvoted and awarded for it?
Alas, the grammar medic hasn't come into being yet. You'll have to put up with grammar nazis instead.
They get too close they will be kicked.
Into a river? I hope they aren't old.
This guy is fucking, lad!
JESUS, tell him to apply some rubber at the very least.
Articles aren't required in English. It's not typically how people speak, but it's not grammatically incorrect.
Are you saying that my correction is incorrect in nature? BLASPHEMY.
This was at Fanexpo in Toronto which was one of the biggest comic book/SciFi/anime etc conventions in North America each year...well until last year...
Your grammar is ladical, then?
This guy f*cks
Yeah he gets it.
Not all heros FIX capes
Fuck- take my upvote and leave.
I don’t have any awards so here take this crab emoji instead 🦀
I'm a cancer and have a bday coming up. So thanks!!
Can confirm, this guy totally fucks.
Wow, truly an honor to see a comment of yours in the wild, u/sex!
Omg it's them! I love sex, I hope to one day partake in one.
Just the one
One is all you need. Any more would be greedy.
One of the oldest reddit accounts I've ever seen active, from 2005 and only 2 months after reddit was created.
Less than 1k karma per year, too. Admirable levels of lurkage.
First Reddit user ever here folks.
EDIT: Joke folks. Look to the replies below. He's actually Reddit user #111. Pretty fucking close in my book!
Credit goes to /u/Functional_Human

Just here for the inevitable showering of gold that /u/sex will receive
It will make me [mad with moderate](https://youtu.be/LCn4dsT7cVE) amounts of power.
15 year club, that is awesome.
No, you're awesome!
Excuse me. I just want to say I'm huge fan of you Mr./ Mrs. Sex.
Holy shit, u/sex ??
That’s one way to get close to girls my guys a genius
That was my first thought too but the dude seems pretty legit..
I mean, I'm sure he's not doing it to *try* to get laid but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a side effect.
He's using genuine skills that he's developed to partake in a shared interest with people and do kind things for others with no expectation of payment.
And I've found that a lot of people are attracted to people who are confident, talented, kind, and interesting.
"Oh no, my top is falling off, can you help me sew it back on?"
“help we’ve got a peter griffin over here with split trousers”
*he’ll have to wait - I’ve got an ariel with a cracked shell!*
Ey big wiener, shit will float in the water.
nextfuckinglevel no doubt. How many cosplay people has he saved from certain embarrasment? We will never know..but know this... He is the real deal
Especially if you consider how much time and effort everyone puts into making their cosplays only for it to rip or get damaged on the day of. Must be such a relief to anyone who's had their things patched up by him
Lol some of us dudes are also just looking to nerd out and enjoy dressing up as Junpei from Persona 3. If my jacket ripped I'd be looking for Wayne Do too.
Yeah, he seems (from a brief clip) that he genuinely enjoys cosplays and respects people who take so much time and effort to have fun and create joy for others. A lot of these comments are kind of weird/gross
I genuinely felt a sense of relief watching this video clip. He is turning people's day from a little disappointment back to excitement.
Not just embarrassment but even just loss of enjoyment at the whole experience because of a ripped garment or broken accessory. You won’t want to take as many pictures or you won’t feel as on character if something like that happens.
At that same Con where he operates there is now a Cosplay triage room. All the bits and baubles you may need to repair your cosplay. My wife had to use it once and it was very useful. But it's one room far removed from the Con floor. What this guy does is a hero's quest. I imagine him emerging at a determined job from a crowd of people to repair someones cosplay... wonderful.
I miss conventions.
Someone should give him a cape!
Who fixes all the busted costumes? Wayne Do
I heard this in the stonecutters theme from the simpsons
Omg me too
he only helps the gals?
guys don't ask for help or directions.(guy)
It might've took me 13 hours but I found the damn restaurant finally, all by MYSELF.
DONT WANNA BE
All by myself ...
No one was looking
ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT I'VE BEEN TRY'NA BE LATELY
Same. And for no good reason
I have a good reason. I'm prideful.
Ok same, I wouldn't say it's a *good* reason.
And we're oft too chicken-shit to really show our fandom in public.
Except for sports ball. GooOOOOooo SPORTS!
One of my friends once compared fantasy football to magic the gathering in terms of the amount of nerdiness going into both and I'll never think about life the same way.
is it gay to ask for help?
Nah, gay men are probably just as stubborn
Not if you add "No homo!"
to ask for help is to admit defeat. (guy)
Guy: ::wardrobe malfunction causes peen to flop out::
Same guy: I’d rather die than get some help fixing this!
As someone who has given bad directions before, I'll never understand why people ask total strangers for directions. Oh right I guess I forgot to mention that one turn... oops. oh well.
I would think that females tends to have more flimsy costumes, thin fabrics and so on. And high heels that leads to tripping and ripping.
As a man I can confirm, my cosplays are only made from genuine Italian leather, Japanese steel, and American mahogany wood. None of that fabric bullshit. /s
Sounds heavier than the weird foam stuff most dudes I know that are cosplaying uses, but bonus weightlifting! :D
Whats funny is Japanese steel typically isnt superb quality, but the methods and techniques they used for their sub-par steel more than made up for it.
Also because Japan is not rich in iron. So all the good steel was used to make sword. This is why they developed lots of wood joining techniques (compared to European joinery).
Also the reason they invented pull saws, since that allows saws to be thinner than the western style push saw.
Pull saws are so much better than push saws.... Who the fuck thought a push saw was better?? Idiot.
Yeah, let me just dislocate my shoulder while cutting this log, lmaoo
Just a friendly reminder that we live in the era of globalization and *modern* Japanese steel is actually very good. Historically this is accurate, but smithing and forging is a lot different today than it was 200-300 years ago.
*Breathes in Ferengi*
There's so many things awful with this comment I don't know where to start.
I've only been to 2 cons, but disproportionately, women tend to cosplay way more than men.
Ya you could even see in the background of his interview quite a few men are walking by and hardly any of them are cosplaying.
His sign reads (gals free, guys $5,000)
Y'all are jaded af
Bold of you to assume that any of those people are women
Why did you make that assumption?
They only filmed him helping cosplayers dressed as gals.
Sexy TV sells better.
Seen him before, what a champ, not the hero we need, but the hero we deserve.
Yeah he’s in the new Spider-Man films
Bruh . LoL
He’s the guy in the sewing chair!
I'm looking at.. Porn..
Yea, I don't think people think about the meaning of that lol. He's absolutely needed
I think you switched up the quote. He’s the hero we need, not the one we deserve (cuz humanity sucks but he’s awesome).
Not the hero we deserve, but the hero we need!
> not the hero we need
Do you even know what you're saying? If so please explain
no, about 75% of the time people fuck that quote up and eventually it’ll be more like 98% and the 2% of people going “that doesnt make sense!” only to get drowned out by “it’s a fucking movie quote you triehard!”
I LOVE CANADA
This is one of my favorite things about cosplayers. People like this guy
I stopped going to cons and dropped out of the whole cosplay scene just before the pandemic because this feeling is getting lost. These days cosplay is all about models and Instagram and people taking photos of themselves while ignoring all things the con offers. The last time I went it felt like high school, with cliques and popular cosplayers surrounded by Simps. The fact that there are "celebrity cosplayers" who are just models in team made outfits, with sponsorship deals at cons now is kinda pathetic.
Yeah, it's an entire industry now. I imagine many people are discouraged from participating because it's hard to compete with the costumes put together by people who have made a career out of it
That's kinda what the world is coming to, though.
I don't wanna be all "in my day", but...*in my day* you could watch a let's player on YT or a streamer on Twitch and they did it for fun. They made videos for the fun of creating and they streamed for sharing their experience and interacting with others during it.
But every time you start an argument like this, you get **tons** of people rushing at you, screaming about you wanting people to go bankrupt and not appreciating free content etc.
Be it YT or cosplay, it's just an industry now. You still get the occasional person acting on passion, but they are few and far between.
Even social media is pretty much the same. Myspace and the early days of Facebook were about basic social connections, now you have TikTok and Instagram, where the entire point seems to be trying to go as viral as possible and make money off it OR you already make money in other ways and use those platforms for marketing and literally just creating ads.
And Twitter is just a horrible cesspool of shit that shouldn't be touched.
At a very small thing some of them started talking with each other in front of everyone and the very obvious clout chasing to determine whose social media presence would improve one's own was very offputting, but I can understand where the need for strategy falls in the modern world of hierarchy and economic woes, same shit happened with other media platforms like youtubers or twitch people.
I work in healthcare and I get to see a LOT of people fully naked and I gotta say, the most surprising thing about seeing tons of naked people regularly? How many fucking juggalo tattoos are out there in spots hidden by clothing. Swastikas, too, but for some reason that's less surprising.
They were a huge part of rebellion years for a huge amount of people. Even if they aren't still juggalos.
Doubly so for juggalo medics.
Emergency whip-its and faygo, stat!
"sir, is the room spinning?"
"Get this man some drugs, STAT!"
Problem about cosplayers though is that some see others success and jump on it and that's how we had the chaos of the Deadpool thing. What I am getting at is the last con I went to, pre-covid, had me see tons of people who were cosplay medics. Super cool of them to do that but that con even had several stations setup for this kinda stuff. Basically I was seeing more medics than cosplays at times which had me wonder if most were actually capable of helping or were just cosplaying as such.
Some big geek cons will have a room run by the con for this kind of thing. [Megacon Orlando has a Cosplay Repair Center aka Cospital](https://www.orlandosentinel.com/869e1afe-03b8-43f9-b251-392344b69acb-132.html). They will have stuff that a guy walking around doesn't have.
You mean like how a hospital has things an ambulance doesn't?
yeah having someone walking around would probably save those hours of embarassment and prevent the need for walking around in a damaged outfit
Right? What if your costume breaks in a way that you're afraid to move it across the convention center in heavy traffic in case it's ruined further.
Personally, I'd probably also be in something of a panic, and would be more able to call someone rather than try to take it to the cospital.
Just sassed his ass
I laughed way too hard at that than I should have
As a con organizer there is a saying: "No matter how big the sign is they will not read it." The cosplay repair rooms in conventions sometimes rarely get used due to people just not knowing they are there to no fault of the organizers. The plus side to this hero is that he is on the move increasing the chance that someone in need will notice him, he might help more people than the room does (rooms still necessary to have too).
The other big difference is, he gets to experience the con also. He isn't stuck in a room just repairing things. While they may enjoy using their sowing machines because that is their hobby, he gets to walk around and meet people.
Not just on the move for repairs, but on the move because he was a previous cosplayer. Now he gets to cosplay and pay-it-forward.
That is good. This guy is good. All in all, it makes for very good cons.
He's so wholesome ☺️☺️ I want to be his assistant to help
That would be fun. I’d settle for a method for donations to help him resupply.
I hope they pay him. It would help him get more tools.
Agreed. I was thinking that like some things might not be to bad. Little patchwork here or fixing a seem there could garner a tiny tip or at least something. However if I were him which I kinda of want to join in and help, I would have a mandatory charge for things like replacement batteries or fog liquid etc if their costume needed replacement/refills of those as they aren’t really the cheapest.
Still it’d all really determine on the situation and mood of the people I suppose.
He definitely deserves payment, but when I've cosplayed, I rarely kept cash on me. I'd just keep my ID and credit card in my badge. I typically didn't have a great way to carry anything else, and I also knew that I'd blow whatever I brought in the dealers' room so I tried to avoid it, lol.
Like you said, definitely dependent on the situation. Piece of tape = lots of praise and photo op. Batteries = figure out how to pay him.
That cordless glue gun is something that I've never seen before!
Nice to see! There's also a woman doing the same that calls herself the Cosplay Healer or something like that at events
I’ve seen someone at a con doing the same thing, while dressed as Fix-it Felix. The perfect cosplay
He’s low key feeling some knees.
And proctologists may touch butt holes from time to time. Part of the job, no need to go perv.
If my guidance counselor had only phrased it like this, I would have had a successful medical practice by now.
Mine just told me, "You're a free spirit, I'm sure you'll figure it out," lol
I read protagonists at first lmao and I was very confused at the rest of the replies.
Protagonists have also been known to touch butt holes from time to time.
I hope he doesn't get sued. I hear dis-knee is super litigious, esp. about use of characters.
Oof that is one tortured joke, but the effort made me smile :).
If the joke could speak, it would say, “*kill meee*”
*That's how they do pants!*
PROTECT THIS MAN AT ALL COSTS
Always protect your healer!
GODDAMNIT GENJI STOP GOING INTO THE BACKLINE SO THAT I CAaaand I'm dead now.
I think he’s genuinely helping and not trying to do it for the girls attention like some might think. I think it’s on the news for the edits of him only helping girls. Need to make it sexy for views. Seems like a good dude and I’m usually the cynical one.
there's way easier ways to get girls attention than making your own cosplay, learning how to sew, and attending various conventions.
so yea I'd agree i think he's just a cool helpful dude
In high school I would walk up to a smoking hot girl and say, “What’s up toddler tits?” Then go for a high five. But at the last second pull my hand away and run it through my hair Ace Ventura style and finish with, “in your dreams loser.”
I was smooth as silk.
Yeah, he *could* tho,
don't think anyone would knock him for having a cape...
*Edna Mode enters the chat*
I wanna give him a big hug he's so dang cute
I loved him in Up!
I have absolutely zero interest in cosplaying. But this dude is a champ! He loves it and seems like he really helps the community he’s clearly dedicated to.
Why did that bring tears to my eyes??
Because you are compassionate, and there's a lot of horrible stuff going on right now. Sweet relief to see the good in humans, and I don't think most of us are getting that. Stay beautiful!
Aww, thank you. You too!! ❤
Cause it's your birthday!
What a bro but he should call himself cos-medic. Potential wasted :(
This guy fucks
Apparently some carry glue guns
I've seen them at every con I've gone to... They should be let in for free, doing a public service. Hell, the convention should pay them!
that cammy tho
not really nextfuckinglevel but more /r/humansbeingbros
I just want to say this gentleman’s life is much more valuable than his net worth will ever say it is.
He may not wear a cape, but it wouldn't be out of place if he did
Not this person, but when my wife and I, and our daughter went to FFXIV Fan Fest a few years ago our daughter's costume had a piece break the first day while we were in line for the doors to open up. We had a glue gun with us to repair it, but realized we didn't have any actual glue sticks with us. One quick call out on the FanFest cosplay group on facebook and less than 5 minutes later we had a savior right at us with glue sticks. Cosplay community can be quite amazing sometimes.
His Steven Toast Cosplay needs a moustaaaaaaaaaaaasche.
This guy must be swimming in it
He is legit a nice guy, I've run into him a few times. This video looks like it's at Fanexpo in Toronto but he is is also seen helping cosplayers around Anime North every year as well.
the caption took my words! 🔥
What a cool cat
That's incredible. With his backpack he's like the Happy Mask salesman from TLoZ, or really, any item shopkeep from any game that saves your hide when you're out of ammo or carrying capacity. The true hero. I'd love to donate to him for supply costs if anyone has a link to social media for him!
