Yep, I've had an oral fixation for most of my life. I'd even eat non food stuff like strings and paper as a kid lol.
Turns out I was using food to avoid dealing with feelings and being present...
I always want to eat.
I tell my partner that I want to eat, just for the sensation of eating. Not because I'm hungry.
No I am the opposite I never know when I am hungry so my aides have alarms for schedule meals because I will not eat.
Hm, I'm the opposite, one of my medicinal uses of cannabis is appetite stimulation. On days like today when I don't have it, I have very little appetite and almost have to force myself to consume food.
turns out that for me it wasn't actually me being hungry, it was me craving chewing

I’m a online college student and sit at my desk a lot. I’ve been thinking about getting a chew necklace. I have metal straws with rubber tips, and I’ve noticed chewing on tips stops me from wanting to get up for snacks.
I've had that where I don't crave food, but want a certain taste or to have something in my mouth. I should get a chew necklace.
Omg yes. If I'm feeling 'off' (usually because of work) I have to go find a snack. But I usually want something like a gummy sweet and get really irritated if I don't have any, and have to find something else.
It's annoying because I really need to not eat so many sweets!
I also discovered last year while going through panic attacks that having a fruit flavored sweet will help to ground me.
When I’m out running errands I will grab a doughnut, or something else non healthy. It’s terrible.

I have the opposite problem. I eat when I’m angry cuz I don’t know what hungry feels like
I have memories of basically binge eating when angry as a kid. I'd have this intense urge to just eat as much of one food as possible. I haven't thought about that for a long time! It was definitely an emotional thing though.
Some studies indicate that we take longer to digest (and therefore feel satiated for a longer period of time) when he eat most of our daily calories earlier in the day rather than later.
So if you tend to skip breakfast, eat a big dinner and snack on carbs at night (like I used to do...), maybe that'd be a first step to implement?
Also, as a general rule of thumb, limit the carbs you eat (that includes sugars but also any grains) and load up on fats and proteins, it will make your hunger a lot more manageable.
Quite the opposite. Almost never hungry… Could be my stimulant med. I gotta force myself to eat most of the time (when I can remember)!!! 😝 For some reason I do get hungry for a snack right around bedtime tho lol, but that sux bc then I can’t digest it as well. Oh well, better to eat something than nothing eh??? Do you know what could be causing your intense hunger? How long has it been going on? Medication side effects can definitely affect things, unless it’s like emotional eating which I think everyone definitely falls victim to from time to time! I know I have before… Hope this helps!!! Might be related to another medical condition, best to seek advice from your doctor.
I know that at least with autism, eating issues are very common. Such as barely recognizing hunger to overeating.

Sometimes when I’m craving being loved, it feels like I’m craving French fries.
Are you on any medication? When I was on mirtazipine it made me constantly hungry. I gained like 20kg in a year because of it.
I take anxiety medication. From reading these reply’s I really think it’s sensory related.
Okay I just looked it up. I guess mine would convert to like 22.68 kg weight gain haha
Literally same about the hunger. Very well could have been a large contributing factor to me rapidly gaining like 50 lb in a 2 year span, too… Since going off it a few weeks ago I’ve already lost over 10 lb 😂 I’ll have to look up the weight you said bc you must be from the UK or something since you use kg hahaha
My body tells me I'm hungry when I'm already starving, then it's too late and I already have a headache. I'll probably have to set up alarms to eat at regular schedule
I have that problem too. I don’t know when I’m actually hungry. I either eat too much or nothing lol.
Pay attention to your body. See if there are any other signs or symptoms of something more.
A few years ago, I noticed I was eating SO MUCH FOOD (~4000 cals/days), drinking a lot, peeing a lot, tired all the time, my vision was getting worse and worse by the week. My SO and I ended up self-diagnosing my type 1 diabetes before I even went to a doctor. Eventually, I went to the ER, got an insulin prescription, and most of my symptoms were way better in under 2 months.
All of this to say, make sure you evaluate your whole self. Think about if anything else has been different/weird lately and go to a doctor if you suspect something is actually wrong. Not doing so could be dangerous or prolong your issues.
My interoception's so bad I usually can't tell if I'm hungry but I still eat a lot as a sensory seeking thing. Does that fit with your experience? You also might just be more sensitive to these cues. Do you have a low pain tolerance?
Yeah I definitely have a low pain tolerance.
This. I often snack throughout the day because A) I want the sensation, and B) I need a dopamine boost.
I've spent years wondering why I'm hungry all the time, and it wasn't until recently that I discovered that I'm actually not. Still, it's really hard to combat.
I really feel like it’s a sensory thing after reading these reply’s. I think I might just want something to chew on.
Sometimes I want gummies, just something to keep in my mouth, but I can’t stand the texture of them.
