I recently saw some mentions of "Snowpity" and I don't get it. Urban Dictionary says this:
>The very essence of a mare pony, similar to their soul, but something so profound that transcends such a mundane term and thus necessitates its own word.
But that doesn't really help me. I guess it's an inside joke from the early days of the fandom?
Heh. It's actually a rather more recent invention; I only remember it emerging in the last couple years. It's a made-up word that can maybe be best translated as "Everything about a pony that is comforting, gladdening, or makes you feel delight and joy, summarized into an intangible form and named using an otherwise nonsense word".
Yes, it's a very surreal kind of meme.
More recently, one of the fan-con management groups took up the name, which may be how you ended up stumbling across it.
Thanks for the info!
> More recently, one of the fan-con management groups took up the name, which may be how you ended up stumbling across it.
No don't think so, it was this sentence:
> I love mares I love their pure hearts and snowpitties!
In the description of one of Prince Whateverer's [latest songs] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbrA3LqDtPk&list=RDlbrA3LqDtPk&start_radio=1).
[](/twifret) I have encountered it and tried to make sense of it as well. As far as I can tell, it came from 4chan. ([The thread in question, probably.](https://derpibooru.org/images/2639725)) Somebody asked what the snowpity of mares smells like and refused to elaborate. The thread spiraled out of control and now we have a meme-word, that is essentially nonsense.
>The thread spiraled out of control and now we have a meme-word, that is essentially nonsense.
This is kinda fascinating to me in a weird way. I feel like memeology really will be a science in the future at this rate.
[](/fl_excited) Flitter and Cloudchaser are an interesting pair of background ponies. They have a very distinct design and are recognizable as far as fandom presence goes. But I fail to recall any significant fan works about them, or even just widely accepted headcanon.
[](/sp)
[](/cc_excited) Who are they? Why do they have such a distinct design? Are there any significant fan works or fanon for them? Agreed upon personality? Do you have any headcanons for them?
[](/hmmm) A common idea is that they are sisters that regularly interact with Thunderlane and Rumble, since they all premiered in the same episode. The difference in their appearance lends itself to Flitter being a "girly girl" and Cloudchaser a tomboy.
A few days ago, I mentioned that I like Flitter being Cloudchaser's younger sister. Outside of that I do not have much in the way of headcanons.
Probably the best known Flitter work is [Five Hundred Little Murders](https://www.fimfiction.net/story/126415/five-hundred-little-murders) - a dark as *fuck* fic which manages to be one of *the* fandom's best tearjerkers. It also turns Flitter into something of a jerk and a bully, which isn't a portrayal I've seen anywhere else.
Typically, Cloudchaser is portrayed as the more extroverted one - an athlete (as she's a Wonderbolts recruit alongside Dash) while Flitter is the more traditionally feminine one (as a cheerleader with a bow).
Personally, I just like Cloudchaser's big poofy mane! It's such a unique design.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said in the other comment, I like Cloudchaser as the one who is outwardly very stereotypically tomboyish - but still able to express a softer, more empathetic side. She's not as closed off as, say, Rainbow Dash (perhaps her younger sister had an ameliorating effect on Cloudchaser?). If Rainbow is the stereotypical "cool-obsessed" tomboy character, Cloudchaser is more of a balance.
Flitter, on the other hand, is more overtly feminine... but struggling to find her place and strike out on her own. She's kind of followed Cloudchaser around her entire life (she's not younger, but a rare twin), and while she does have her own interests they've always been on the quieter side. Only now is she trying to figure out who she is separate from her sister.
Sadly, I've never really had a chance to write the two of them.
How can I stop myself from getting so worked up over Rarity hate?
I don't really see it often, but when I do I get legit mad and act nasty to whoever slanders her.
I know it isn't healthy, but I just love her so much I can't help it. She's so sweet and wonderful and I can't stand for people to say mean and untrue things about her.
For those of you who interact with the fanbase outside of reddit, there's something I wanted to ask; does it seem like interest in new Gen 5 content is suffering diminishing returns?
The movie was well received, but I saw no hype for the first Make Your Mark special. I saw a couple of people who feel that the fanbase lost a lot of its enthusiasm after the mixed reception to the special. But the main reason I'm asking is because I noticed that the [discussion thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/comments/z0t7s9/official_my_little_pony_make_your_mark_winter/) for Winter Wishday only got 55 posts and that seems very unusual to me even if the special didn't have any major plot developments.
It's a little difficult to judge; unlike a lot of my previous efforts, I don't have a lot of hard data to work with here.
Subjectively... yeah. The focus on the 2d, lighthearted-but-shallow shorts over possible longer 3D content and deeper stories which would evolve the characters does seem to be struggling to attract fan discussion.
I know on the Discord servers I'm on, new episodes are now only discussed with a handful of comments. Over on /mlp/, the ratio of G5 related threads to others (writing prompts, CYOAs, general threads, etc) does seem to have fallen somewhat, but that's a personal "seem to", not hard data.
I imagine the gaps between new releases makes it hard for some people to keep up their investment. If you aren't into Tell Your Tale then you're kinda screwed when it comes to regular releases.
The Movie is announced: “Hooray! The fandom is not dead!
The Special has a cliffhanger ending: “What? Didn’t we spend enough time waiting for new content?”
Fan speculation is sometimes used as a coping mechanism by fans left in suspense. Rampant speculation is built on careful analysis of existing material and characters. Character flaws and weakness in the existing material are exposed, hype cannot be generated by advertisements due to our collective experience with products that don’t work like they do in commercials.
[](/twiponder) In my experience, the interest has shifted to a general appreciation of the fan-made content that is inspired by the latest release of G5 content. Inconsistent release schedules like you mentioned combined with the main series being a Netflix exclusive does not help with allowing others to see it.
There is one community I am in that is an exception where there is considerable discussion around G5 content, but that might be more due to the quirks of that community.

I wonder what happened to Flurry Heart in between the Ending of the End and A New Generation. Would love to read some theories or fanfiction about it
