I’m a bad MTG Financier. I stopped playing and collecting about 18 years ago.
I was an idiot for selling my cards. And now I’m an idiot for getting back into it.
And sincerely big BIG thank you to /u/pkuhlman140 and /u/totentanzen333 for the prizes! We really appreciate you making this special occasion extra fun for our subscribers.
**EDIT: If you have any questions about the giveaway or anything else, reply to this comment here and I'll do my best to answer them.**
I never thought that us finance nerds with our "finance" degrees from a cornflakes box, would ever have a chance at getting something that resembles value out of this sub reddit.
It’s nothing glamorous but my best specs were buying boxes of the original double masters and holding them. Might not be as big of a play as others make but it pays for new standard cards, etc.
R/mtgfinance's best use has been to occasionally buy cards before large spikes.
Thanks for panicking me into buying a [[gilded drake]] before the pandemic spikes!
Worst spec was not buying up every Chain of Smog non-foil on cardmarket when they were still available at 5 cents each after the combo was spoiled. Still frustrated with myself to this day.
My best spec so far has definitely been on older (2020 and earlier) commander precons.
The first spec I ever made was on a box of older commander decks that someone in the area wanted to sell because they were getting out of magic. I wasn't too familiar with EDH or even MTGFinance at the time, but I looked up the prices on TCGplayer and almost all were close to 40% off, so I bought the entire lot for about $2000.
These went all the way back to 2013, and had some really nice decks like Feline Ferocity. Since then, most of those decks have 3-4x in price, and I keep cashing them in whenever I feel comfortable with selling them off. I've made about $3000 so far ($1000 in profit after shipping/fees) off that initial lot, and still have about 10 decks left, so I should at least make another 1-2k by the time I sell everything off.
Since then, I've been keeping an eye out for good deals on commander decks. I grabbed multiple cases of Commander 2019 for $70-80 each, 2020 for $80-90 each, and 2021 for $80-90 each. I've already sold many of these and made a good profit.
Do I consider future commander decks a good spec? So far, not really. It seems like WotC has learned its lesson after Dockside and Fierce guardianship, and we haven't gotten many auto-include cards since. Maybe a few midrange cards like the new blackmarket, but the value of the new cards and the reprints feels very careful/curated. There also haven't been any good blowout sales, and I wouldn't purchase new sets of 4/5 for more than $100.
Thanks min max for sponsoring the prizes!!!
Best spec - I held 70 copies of fable of the mirror breaker from a mass opening when they were selling close to bulk. I knew it was a strong card. Happily sold them between $4-7 on the way up! Never thought it would break $15 given the land cycle and some mythics in NEO having the value that they did.
Worst mtg finance decision was buylisting every rare in my collection over a dollar to starcity in 2009 or so. I still have the spreadsheet saved on my computer but refuse to open it. I received under $1000 and used that to help pay for my wedding. The highest value cards included a NM playset of lions eye diamonds that had never been played. When I played 1995-1999 I just thought it was a terrible card. I got $60 each at the time and was thrilled. I am sure my sub $1000 buylist submission would likely be in the $10,000+ range of value today.
I saw a Tabernacle on the misprint FB group yesterday. Multiple people identified the misprint as mold, visible on both sides. Edit: I double checked and I’m wrong, it was a Legends Nicol Bolas (I misremembered it with a nicely crimped Tabernacle recently posted there, which was not claimed to be a new pull). Not quite as awful but still disappointing, if it is in fact mold. It does look like it.
I once bought hundreds of Faithless Lootings at $0.25 a piece with the intent to dump them all to a buy list when they hit $2.00. They got to $1.60 and then got banned in modern. I gave away about half of them.
I still can’t believe how popular Commander is - I’ve played it and don’t find it particularly enjoyable. Reasons include slow pace of play, length of games, needing to not try to win too hard, and inconsistency of draws outside of tutors (plus shuffling that pile is terrible)!
However I have come to accept that commander cards drive mtgfinance and I am grateful to all those players for contributing to demand for our cardboard squares!
This sub has helped me be smarter about when to buy singles/sealed product. Also for the occasional funny post, seriously you guys remember the Chillerpillar posts from a while back.
This sub has helped me procure game pieces at the most reasonable prices possible. There's good information here if you look carefully. I appreciate the folks that contribute to conversation.
Thanks to all the contributor here and thanks for running this giveaway.
My worst specs were Kaldheim Collector's boxes and OG Jumpstart. Both at $150.
Thanks to sealed "investing", I no longer have excess money to worry about!
Honestly, I don't understand MTG finance and have no issues admitting that, at this point I just follow the sub to watch people's choices in specs and maybe get in on cards I might want in the future.
Some guy at the prerelease last night pulled two Sheoldreds in his kit. One was foil, one was the phyrexian text one. And a Karn. That was not fun to play against.
I only started playing magic again with AFR, but my best (and first surprisingly) spec was [[Ledger Shredder]] I still haven't sold all my copies, but I will soon. Got in for $1 or under on most copies, with the most being $1.50 for an extended art.
Been a lurker for awhile but always appreciate the insight and it's helped me snag some deals way before the market knew about them - thanks for all everyone does!
My best spec ever was buying like 8 playsets of revised savannah lions and crusades to build intro white weenie decks to give away to raise awareness for oldschool 93/94.
The savannah lions spiked first. But a couple months later wotc decided depicting a historical event was racist and all the 25 cent crusades became $20 each.
Worst spec was buying [[Gideon Jura]] at $50 when it spiked soon after being released because of FOMO, JTMS was sitting above $60 and rising fast at the time.
Bought a few [[Temporal Tresspasses]] whenever I would see them on auction sites for less than $2
This sub is my go-to when I start my research on a card or set, it has such a wealth of information. I'm new to the finance side of MTG, and I've gained a lot of knowledge from the sub on what is/isn't a good investment.
And to minmax, thanks for being a pillar of the community! You guys rock and your deals are some of the best I've seen.
Love MinMax! I have a bunch of mythic extended art specs from the last few standards that have yet to pan out, but waiting ever so patiently. And on strixhaven Japanese set booster boxes.
Awesome Sub, and MinMax is an awesome store. Owners actively participating and were up front about moving large volume at lower margins.
Sometimes "deal" subs like this can feel like taking advantage of mispricing/errors etc, but great to know we are getting products at investable prices and the owners are scaling their business.
The best skill MTGFinance can teach on this sub is to be ***incredibly*** skeptical of any criticism or point people make without any data supporting it.
It has only reinforced in me that researching and looking into cards/prices/sales/etc...on your own is incredibly important. Sure, let someone "tip you off" on a "great find"---But then do the work in the background to either prove or disprove how "great of a find" said information/product is or was. Don't expect to ***ever*** be spoon-fed good or valuable information. It may happen occasionally, but it's far more rare.
Regardless: Here's to 100K! Hopefully this sub can teach others some important lessons as well in the future.
[[morbid opportunist]] is probably my "best" so far, ~200 copies at ~40 each. My biggest problem is that a "spec" isn't successful until you have sold. I need to buy list some of my hits for sure!
As someone who left this game after Weatherlight, and has been slowly buying sealed product over the past few years… I learn so much from just reading y’all posts
Awesome idea for a giveaway. I started collecting about 8 months ago and went from owning 0 cards to now over 20K. This sub has helped a lot in regard to ideas, organization, and pointing out good deals.
Neat idea. I'm a fairly casual spectator that floats between throwing a few boxes in the closet and cracking packs to play or just enjoy the thrill. Do appreciate the insights, deals, and commentary of this subreddit though.
Best spec was Ledger Shredder extended art foil, hands down (15 pieces bought for an average of 5 bucks and sold for an average of about 29), thanks to some good discussions in here. Here’s to hoping finance will experience a renaissance going strong after the first 100k. Cheers to us all!
Bought a hundred copies of [[Repudiate/Replicate]] for .25c. Able to buy list them today for .22c. Stonks! 😁 Appreciate the opportunity and all the helpful posts people share here!
Thanks a lot. I've been holding on to 40 copies of Marit Lage's Slumber for what feels like forever. Not a huge spec but snow will be huge one day just you wait haha!
My penny stock spec on 200+ [[Sentinel Totem]] broke even after buy-listing a couple years back...that was the peak of my spec endeavors on singles haha
The best and only spec of mine was taking a gamble on shrine support immediately after the Neon Dynasty announcement, and picking up 20 sets of hondens with a few foils.
All my specs have been bad! The last cards I bought were \[\[Lorehold Command\]\] EA Foils and \[\[Codie\]\] regular copies.
All my RL cards have been good buys, though :-)
Big ups to MinMaxGames for the giveaway!
When I first started to play (Ixalan) I never thought I would get obsessed with MTG. Now I bring 10+ commander decks when the guys get together to play. Also have a decent sealed collection thanks to this sub and the many deal alerts/discussion. Good luck to everyone!
No big hits so far. I just sell everything I pull from prereleases immediately. Most of the time I'm selling at the peak, sometimes I regret selling a couple copies of ledger shredder.
this might not count but i bought like 50 smothering tithes on mtgo back when they were like 0.10 tix a piece, and sold them when they were like 2 tix a piece. paid for a lot of drafts with that
I'll probably never liquidate, but my best "spec" so far remains the 200+ copies of an Alpha common that I've hoarded over the years. Actually, Alpha in general is a great place to stash some $.
Awesome giveaway—thanks and congrats on 100k! Can’t say I strategically buy or hold any mtg but I do enjoy reading up mtg dd posts on here it definitely fuels my obsession which I’m totally ok with lol. Gl everyone!
Best recent spec selloff - [[eidolon of the great revel]] from shortly after m25 came out.
Worst spec to date - [[gaea's will]]
Biggest missed opportunity - I knew [[Kolaghan's Command]] was awesome at launch because I pulled it as my promo. Hesitated at buying in at $1 ea.
My best spec of all time has to be [[Jeska's Will]] at 0.97€ a piece when previewed.
At the moment, I'm currently looking to snag some [[Karn's Sylex]] when those hit a lower price. The synergy with [[Karn the great creator]] seems really good for Modern Tron.
Thanks a lot for the great giveaway ! It rocks!
MTGFinance really helped me work on card evaluations, and made me understand a bit better what to look for as a newer player. Granted I still haven't learned to follow the meta of several formats well, as the Elemental cycle in MH2 went up and down and all over the place between all of them except Grief which just went down. Probably because that's the one I opened three of in my pre-release kits.
I also quickly learned I don't make the kind of money to buy tons of product to hold, and my biggest spec is a case of 2X2 that I intend to hold for at least a year. Some people can't always spec a lot, but even 5-10 of a card is still enough if it makes it big.
Thanks for the giveaway! So, I'm wondering, how many of the people in this group are like me and only collect/invest-in ABU plus AN? I feel like I'm the only one who could not care less about current releases.
My favorite part of holding sealed is buying in to the illusion that one day I'll sell all of my holdings for a 10% increase, 5 years from now.
C'mon big money no whammy!
Y’all have helped me to see this game in a different light.
After 20 years away from the game, I’ve not only gotten back into playing but now collecting anything from new to old sets.
This is a great community and I appreciate everyone’s insights and conversations.
Here’s to another 100k 🥂☺️
My favorite personal spec is Karona, False God. I have over 1000 copies, regular, foil, all the language variants and most language variant foils. This card has risen in value significantly since I started collecting it, but that's not what makes it special. The card has personal meaning to me (a connection to the character and the books she's in) and so successful or not I'd still be happy with the collection I've amassed, which is a wonderful thing for a spec.
My favorite spec I've seen so far on this subreddit is the guy who bought up god knows how many copies of the original Baron Sengir for who knows what reason and caused the price to spike. People were so confused and it was out of nowhere and that guy will probably never sell them or make a profit but that was hilarious to watch.
I'm not usually the type to buy singles, so I don't really spec on cards. I do enjoy reading other poster's specs on this subreddit though.
But the one time I actually did, I failed miserably. I bought 8 copies of [[Eat to Extinction]] back when Theros:Beyond Death first released and was quite confident that it would eventually be a $10+ rare cause a similar rare, [[Vraska's Contempt]] had spiked hard in the past.
Unfortunately, it never did pan out, and that's probably the first and last time that I would ever spec on cards again.
This sub has allowed me to find a more mature perspective (investment) to look at my favorite game. Although I still enjoy opening sealed and playing with friends :)
My best and worst spec was being super excited about Ledger Shredder during spoilers and planning to buy a bunch only to let a friend and “more knowledgeable player” talk me out of it. I got a single copy for myself for $1 but the idea that I could have been sitting on a whole lot more stings a lil.
Always loved this sub as a way to maintain a massive collection. Makes it more affordable to buy pricey cards if you don't jump the gun and buy into hype when they're expensive.
My best specs was going hard into CE about ten years ago. Sets I picked up for under $300 selling for $10k was a pretty good return lmao. Been playing since 94!
I'd still love to win something here tho 😂
Lurking in this subreddit has shown me how little I know about investing in this game for new sets. It's not easy to spec without a solid knowledge of all things mtg.
Im really excited about the giveaway. Thanks for the nice prizes.
My best specs so far was a small pile of [[Blade of Selves]] when it originally came out.
Anyone else think that Dominaria United is a great limited environment, but will be very top heavy with a couple of mythics carrying all the value in less than a month?
First sub I joined since returning to mtg last year! Fitting & graciously appreciated the owners of MinMax are sponsoring this milestone and prizes. They're often on here and engaging with the community more than all the other store owners I see around.
Cheers and thank you to MinMax and mtgfinance, both are deserving of another 100k following!
My worst spec was 75 [[Whir of Invention]]s at $1.00-$2.00 each. Was hoping to begin to unload once they hit $10.
Still have em. Because right after I bought them it was in Mystery Boosters, was in a Secret Lair, and artifact decks fell out of favor in modern after the Mox Opal banning in 2020 (Thanks Urza).
Was hoping that an instant speed artifact fetch card would be a modest powerhouse. Right now the outlook looks pretty bleak. Come on Brother's War...
My best specs yet to date was buying a large amount of Werewolves and Vampires when they initially announced the Midnight Hunt set name. I traded for and purchased a lot of promo copies of Mayor of Avabruck for around $1.50 a piece. Good times!
I'm not an active trader, but I inadvertently accumulated a collection back in the 2000s building a cube focusing on my preference for original art cards and foils. Fun to read the posts here.
Like many 90’s-era players, I sold my Magic collection years ago and have regretted ever since. With the help of this sub, I made it my Pandemic Project™ to rebuild and move past my trauma. I now have a collection even better than my old one! Happy 100k!
Honestly, the thread has just helped me not waste all my money on this game! I’d have jumped so fast on things not worth the money it was worth at the time without the advice from this subreddit, and my wallet thanks you!
Sweet contest! This sub has definitely helped me make better financial decisions and kept me abreast of the latest financial news in the MTG realm. Here's to 100k more subs!
Back as a poor teenager, my dad and I sold off his revised duals one by one so that we could do weekly drafts of Time Spiral block. It was our way of bonding through tough financial times. At least 40 NM cards sold for $30 or so a pop.
Just a reminder that it's not always about the money.
Alright guys, Locked and we'll do the name drawing in a little bit! Thanks for entering!
I’m a bad MTG Financier. I stopped playing and collecting about 18 years ago. I was an idiot for selling my cards. And now I’m an idiot for getting back into it.
I feel personally attacked
Put down that mirror. I'm blinded.
Thank you everyone for 100k!

Sold my fable of the mirror breaker for 3 bucks :_(
If it weren’t for you guys I would have thrown out my ledger shredder and lethal scheme by now.
I don't even spec... Just read the sub and enjoy learning
Not sure if typo but it’s “spec”. Short for speculation
It's okay, I sold, what I thought was a bulk-rare, ledger shredder playset for $5 each when SNC came out.

Best spec: Getting into EDH early. Worst spec: Getting into MTG in the first place.
What’s the best DU legend we have seen pulled so far? Anyone grabbed a Tabernacle yet?
Saw a chains being pulled.
I saw one get pulled on FB
I saw a Tabernacle on the misprint FB group yesterday. Multiple people identified the misprint as mold, visible on both sides. I pulled an Emerald Dragonfly. Stonks.
Hey you got a Quinton Hoover too! I pulled a Amrou Kithkin woohooo
saw a Moat pulled.
Haven’t got any DU yet. Can’t wait for the boxes to come in!!!
casual dragon games in lockport NY had a tabernacle pulled by a guy who bought a box of CE
the pulls subreddit showed a Tabby
I heard there was a Tabernacle in Lockport, which is pretty nearby to me.
I got a [kobold drill seargent].
Out of the five full collectors boxes opened by people at my store, one had a Blazing Effigy (0.32), and one had a Flash Flood (0.51).
Saw a tabernacle
I once bought hundreds of Faithless Lootings at $0.25 a piece with the intent to dump them all to a buy list when they hit $2.00. They got to $1.60 and then got banned in modern. I gave away about half of them.
Not that it helped my investing, but the sub did help me get a gift for my brother’s birthday. A box is a box, even if it is CLB
This sub helped me get some 2x2 after my previous order got cancelled! Thanks r/mtgfinance
I spec Ed on 500 copies of search the premises ama
i really appreciate the posts that identify skippable secret lairs, with data to back it up.
I still can’t believe how popular Commander is - I’ve played it and don’t find it particularly enjoyable. No specs, but I appreciate when others talk about what is really driving the pieces of singles
Buy singles!
Collected in the beginning as well, sold it all a couple years later and recently got back in it. Here we go!
Honestly, I don't understand MTG finance and have no issues admitting that, at this point I just follow the sub to watch people's choices in specs and maybe get in on cards I might want in the future.
I’ve spec’d into tenacious underdog but am still second guessing if it’ll really go up much more
Still waiting for any of my specs to work out 😂😭
I mostly just enjoy hearing other people's thought processes when speccing on a card. Helps me decide on which singles to get early.
Some guy at the prerelease last night pulled two Sheoldreds in his kit. One was foil, one was the phyrexian text one. And a Karn. That was not fun to play against.
Only real spec of mine is trading for every mh2 fetch I can, hopefully it ends up being worth it in the long run.
Hey, thanks so much for doing this! Good luck to anyone in the prerelease this weekend!
Going hard on [[trailblazer]], one day its time will come!

Mtgfinance made me realize I'm not good at mtgfinance. Thanks for the giveaway minmaxgames!
Been a lurker for awhile but always appreciate the insight and it's helped me snag some deals way before the market knew about them - thanks for all everyone does!
Thank you guys for always having the best sales!
Very cool of you to do this! I nuked my opponent’s Karn and his power stones with Karn’s own Sylex - flavorfully confusing but fun event.
Yo! This is really cool. Great idea and congrats to whoever wins! My 75 [[moonsilver key]] is not looking so great.
I bought 50 gitrogs when they were in standard for $1.50 a piece. I also just bought 10 foil full art ledger shredders for $3 each at release.
Played as a kid but just got back into it during the pandemic. Found mtgfinance and it pulled me in deeper. Have way too much cardboard now.
I don't have any specs, but this sub has helped me a lot with sealed decisions. Thanks for doing this!
I speced on a Plataeu that one of my friends dad gave me for free for my birthday so I made out pretty good.
One time i bought 10 chromatic lanterns for a dollar, not crazy but worked out well and gets me into the giveaway
Woo 100k! I'm here to live vicariously through other people's profits or flops haha
Just hodl!
Worst spec was buying [[Gideon Jura]] at $50 when it spiked soon after being released because of FOMO, JTMS was sitting above $60 and rising fast at the time. Bought a few [[Temporal Tresspasses]] whenever I would see them on auction sites for less than $2
Min max games FTW!

Hopefully someone deserving gets some sweet sweet prizes. Maybe me? But it's okay if not. Thanks for doing this giveaway! Congrats MTGFinance!
Best spec? Buying a Wheel of Fortune for $7 in 2012. I've decided to play with it instead of selling it tho.
Put my cards in a closet and see where ~~they~~ we are in 5-10 years.
[morbid opportunist](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/5/a/5a53982e-3d66-4808-bcb5-46ff40567872.jpg?1634350039) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=morbid%20opportunist) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/mid/113/morbid-opportunist?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/5a53982e-3d66-4808-bcb5-46ff40567872?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
As someone who left this game after Weatherlight, and has been slowly buying sealed product over the past few years… I learn so much from just reading y’all posts
Still waiting to sell those 200 Storm Herald I bought when TBD came out -.-
MSCHF secret lairs - let's hope it pays off
Very cool. This is a fun sub.
Worst spec: spirit of the labrynth, bought 20 or so of these right when they were spoiled thinking they would be the hot new legacy tech.
I, too, enjoy buying and selling magic cards!
Love this sub, congrats on the 100k! My spec of the month is sealed Dominaria United collector boxes.
I appreciate all the sale shout outs here, along with the general spec thoughts and wins/losses there.
Trading a playset of Harbinger of the Hunts for a playset of Den Protectors pre green morph meta was a really good trade in hindsight
It was really enjoyable to dive into the finance side of the game during COVID, this sub helped keep the game relevant to me. Good luck y’all!
Appreciate ya'll.
No good specs yet, but appreciate the sub!
I'll be honest. I don't spec really but I do find the financial incite useful in helping to find powerful/useful cards!

I've really enjoyed watching everyone's specs, and it's fun to see value breakdowns of sealed product. Thanks for existing!
All my specs have been bad! The last cards I bought were \[\[Lorehold Command\]\] EA Foils and \[\[Codie\]\] regular copies. All my RL cards have been good buys, though :-) Big ups to MinMaxGames for the giveaway!

When I first started to play (Ixalan) I never thought I would get obsessed with MTG. Now I bring 10+ commander decks when the guys get together to play. Also have a decent sealed collection thanks to this sub and the many deal alerts/discussion. Good luck to everyone!
Accident Spec: I bought Winota because I thought it would be good in EDH with Isshan but it spiked due to pioneer!
I love this sub, it has great content and gives insight to why some cards will spike. I’ve enjoyed it for several years now, thank you my dudes
No big hits so far. I just sell everything I pull from prereleases immediately. Most of the time I'm selling at the peak, sometimes I regret selling a couple copies of ledger shredder.
this might not count but i bought like 50 smothering tithes on mtgo back when they were like 0.10 tix a piece, and sold them when they were like 2 tix a piece. paid for a lot of drafts with that
!raffle
cool
I'll probably never liquidate, but my best "spec" so far remains the 200+ copies of an Alpha common that I've hoarded over the years. Actually, Alpha in general is a great place to stash some $.
Extremely based giveaway
I have about 100 copies of [[Moonveil Regent]] that really didn't pan out sitting in a box :P

Awesome giveaway—thanks and congrats on 100k! Can’t say I strategically buy or hold any mtg but I do enjoy reading up mtg dd posts on here it definitely fuels my obsession which I’m totally ok with lol. Gl everyone!
This sub has been a great tool for finding sales on sealed product. Here's to another 100K!
Congratulations on 100,000 subscribers!
Congrats on the 100k
I was out from 1998 until Crimson Vow. Less like riding a bike, more like falling off the wagon. What a time to be alive.
100k! Best idea was buying a bunch of vintage sealed boxes right before the 2020 boom!
As the smartest person in this sub I would like to thank you all for all of the prizes.
Best recent spec selloff - [[eidolon of the great revel]] from shortly after m25 came out. Worst spec to date - [[gaea's will]] Biggest missed opportunity - I knew [[Kolaghan's Command]] was awesome at launch because I pulled it as my promo. Hesitated at buying in at $1 ea.

My best spec of all time has to be [[Jeska's Will]] at 0.97€ a piece when previewed. At the moment, I'm currently looking to snag some [[Karn's Sylex]] when those hit a lower price. I’ve really enjoyed finding sealed deals so that’s been helpful.
Speccing on out of time but not expecting it to move for a while still.
Wooo 100k! Haven’t spec’d anything yet but maybe something in Dominaria will catch my eye
My favorite part of holding sealed is buying in to the illusion that one day I'll sell all of my holdings for a 10% increase, 5 years from now. C'mon big money no whammy!
Got into magic this year. Been doing a lot of arbitrage between countries with good success.
Y’all have helped me to see this game in a different light. After 20 years away from the game, I’ve not only gotten back into playing but now collecting anything from new to old sets. This is a great community and I appreciate everyone’s insights and conversations. Here’s to another 100k 🥂☺️
This sub helped me with a couple of specs that paid off. Thank you for the give away!
[Eat to Extinction](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/a/0/a0fae55a-6edd-42ea-b909-ccc39a64a0ed.jpg?1581479739) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Eat%20to%20Extinction) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/thb/90/eat-to-extinction?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/a0fae55a-6edd-42ea-b909-ccc39a64a0ed?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) [Vraska's Contempt](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/b/d/bd7550dd-dfc5-43cd-a117-1244ee3086a8.jpg?1562563183) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Vraska%27s%20Contempt) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/xln/129/vraskas-contempt?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/bd7550dd-dfc5-43cd-a117-1244ee3086a8?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
This is pretty cool, not gonna lie. Good luck to everyone
[Blade of Selves](https://c1.scryfall.com/file/scryfall-cards/normal/front/c/e/ce3367f8-5f5a-4205-909a-247b92a9c082.jpg?1660729551) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=Blade%20of%20Selves) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/clb/301/blade-of-selves?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/ce3367f8-5f5a-4205-909a-247b92a9c082?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Shouldn't there be some sort of minimum account age for valid entries? If not, brb making sock puppet army.
Working night shift has given me a few advantages on seeing deals before others while they sleep. Just a little sneaky.
Good luck everyone! Don’t really spec, but I do time a lot of my purchases very badly, so I’m halfway there.

This is a comment for the giveaway 🥴
Congrats on 100k
My worst spec was 75 [[Whir of Invention]]s at $1.00-$2.00 each. Was hoping to begin to unload once they hit $10. Still have em. Because right after I bought them it was in Mystery Boosters, was in a Secret Lair, and artifact decks fell out of favor in modern after the Mox Opal banning in 2020 (Thanks Urza). Was hoping that an instant speed artifact fetch card would be a modest powerhouse. Right now the outlook looks pretty bleak. Come on Brother's War...

I swear to God 90 percent of the the reason I'm on this sub is for the good deals
The age old advice, buy one card for yourself and one to sell when it doubles in price!
I'm just here so I know when to sell old cards that randomly spiked. Thank you everyone.
This sub is awesome, I’m glad to be a part of it
Like many 90’s-era players, I sold my Magic collection years ago and have regretted ever since. With the help of this sub, I made it my Pandemic Project™ to rebuild and move past my trauma. I now have a collection even better than my old one! Happy 100k!
I've been sitting on 250 Rally the Ranks I bought at 10 cents each. Waiting for that Spirit Token Meta.
Congrats MTG finance!
Very nice of you! Good luck everyone!
The best spec I think would be getting the d20 dragons in alt art before they spiked ludicrously
This subreddit is my favorite to read while pooping.
This sub makes me poor
Good luck to everyone!
Pulled Tetsuo, Imperial Champion from the box topper, which is a nice start.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
Oh man. DU has been such hype among my friend group for weeks now. We’re going to do an at-home craft party. 😂
i am the proud owner of 15 copies of [[braids, cabal minion]]. this wasn’t a spec, mh2 pack gods were trying to teach me a lesson. i never learned.

I have 4 Dandans, does that count?
Honestly, the thread has just helped me not waste all my money on this game! I’d have jumped so fast on things not worth the money it was worth at the time without the advice from this subreddit, and my wallet thanks you!
Very cool to see the sub grow
Mtgfinace made me realize how insanely bad I'm at speccing for high value cards. Still sitting on about 400 [[Scrapyard Recombiner]] at ~1$ each.
I wish I would have bought a Gaia's Cradle years ago.... Got some duals though at least! Congrats on 100k!
What’s the best move for dockside extortionists right now? I’ve heard rumors that they could ban it next month. Sell?
Sweet contest! This sub has definitely helped me make better financial decisions and kept me abreast of the latest financial news in the MTG realm. Here's to 100k more subs!
I don’t really spec but when I do open a high value card I follow this sub to know when to sell
I don't get to play much anymore, but I enjoy reading about stonks and trends
Awesome giveaway. Not really a spec but noticing cards like esper sentinel that make me, little by little, save some money on the long run.
What a great giveaway! Happy to be a member, I always find the content here really interesting and helpful!
I appreciate all the deals people post on this sub! Helps my sealed collection grow faster haha
Best spec was ~40 copies of foil Sigarda’s Aid for $4 each.
Back as a poor teenager, my dad and I sold off his revised duals one by one so that we could do weekly drafts of Time Spiral block. It was our way of bonding through tough financial times. At least 40 NM cards sold for $30 or so a pop. Just a reminder that it's not always about the money.
