why hasn't Doug Walker gotten an Oscar for his performance in Nostalgia Critic: The Wall
The Channel Awesome contributors put a hit out on it.
Why hasn’t Dan Olson gotten an Oscar for his performance in The Nostalgia Critic and The Wall
Just recently I finally found out what that whole thing was about through Dans Video and ho lee fucking shit, how did that video not ruin dougs career as a critic of.. anything? I mean fuck, any random cinephile from my local cinema could outmatch whatever Doug is doing.
I'm not sure he had _that_ much of a career anymore, I think The Wall was meant to revive it.
Hat Dan is worhy of at least 50 Oscars
Walker got snubbed so we didn't have to.
Even thinking about it now makes tears well in my eyes
He is literally jesus
I Dont Wanna Go, Mr. Stank...
Peter, your death is awesome
haha Peter you are banging my daughter
Ligma balls lmao
Mr. Stark I feel like shit
Shia LaBeouf deserves an oscar for the Transformers movies. Everytime he screamed "OPTIMUS" to the top of his lungs I felt it deep in my soul.
Don’t forget his other iconic lines: “Bumblebeeeee!!!” and “No, no, no, no, no, no!”
wtf I actually distinctly heard his "no, no, no, no" when reading your comment lol
It’s such an iconic no, no, no, no!!! Where is oscar for shia laboo????
I really admire how many actors can go from pretending to be really into a ridiculous situation, 95% of which doesn't exist, to then talking up how amazing and emotional that bout of make-believe is.
He deserves an Oscar for the "Tighter Shirt" scene
He deserves an Oscar for his performance in actual cannibal Shia LaBeouf
acting is when drama when the cry happen. Comedy is when iron man go bazinga
Didn't expect r/bingbongtheorem here.
Fuck that made me laugh way more than it should've
HEY MCU STANS! I CRY AT MY ROOM EVERY NIGHT. WHERE TF IS MY OSCAR?
Remember that the Oscars are a joke. RDJ literally cried while he died in End Game but he didn't even get two oscars for that.
I know right! And when Chadwick Boseman didn't win the Oscar because he died for Maam Raimi Black Booty or something!? I dont know I didn't watch the movie but he should've won it!!!
MCU fans when an actor conveys more than one emotion on screen:
Bruce Campbell shoulda got the oscar for Evil Dead 2 and all the slapstick comedy he did basically by himself.
Would love to see the laughing furniture scene play at the Oscars.
I feel like there's an additional layer to this joke, about the age of your average MCU fan.
Yeah, they’re usually about Leo’s age
About the age of the average Leonardo DiCaprio girlfriend.
HOW MANY MOVIES HAS LEO BEEN IN AND WHY DOESNT HE HAVE THAT MANY OSCARS!!!
That's not very funny.
Yeah, why just state a fact?
LOL kids enjoy movies made for kids??? LOL BIG FAT LOL
More like "that was the acting i've ever seen in my whole life"
CGI Thanos was robbed!
I love you 3000
Y’all should be embarrassed for having that in your bio for almost 9 months!
This is so true! Though I love the mcu have not seen a performance that deserves an Oscar more than the actors who won it instead
Exactly. The performances are good, even fantastic at times. But 1) it's hard to even nominate who would be the "lead" actor in an ensemble movie and who the "supporting" actors are. 2) while the performances are great, like you said, the people who were nominated and who won are very deserving.
Yes, people like Chris Evans and RDJ are on the same league as those actors but their performances in the MCU aren't going to nab them a nomination
> Yes, people like Chris Evans ~~and RDJ~~ are on the same league as those actors
Is he though?
Chris Evans? Absolutely. What have you seen that he's been in because I can definitely understand not seeing that if your exposure is through Not Another Teen Movie or Fantastic 4
I thought he was fantastic in Snowpiercer, especially that scene where he talks about his past, I think near the end? Been a while since I've seen it, also don't wanna spoil it
*Sunshine*, *Scott Pilgrim*, *Snowpiercer*, *Push*, *Knives Out*, *The Red Sea Diving Resort*, as well as his Marvel stuff.
Like he’s fine, I don’t have anything bad to say about his performances and I think he’s usually good enough for the roles he’s cast in. However, I also haven’t seen a single performance by him that I think really merits a nomination, let alone a win, and I don’t think he’s really of the same calibre as any of the actors who have won in the last decade.
What do you think about Wandavison? I'm not a big MCU fan but found Elizabeth Olsen to be absolutely compelling and really really hope she gets an Emmy nod for it.
I think she deserves it for her ability to perfectly encapsulate the character stereotypes from each television decade she was portraying alone .
I think you can make a case for Josh Brolin in the Supporting Actor category for Infinity War. You would need a lot of mental gymnastics to do it but it’s possible.
Would argue 2018 best lead actor could have gone to someone from the MCU
Imagine actually believing any MCU film has a performance on par with Frances McDormand and Gary Oldman that year, let alone any year.
i can imagine that easily, sounds like you have head trouble which i saw in a movie once someone reply with the witty reference
Sleepy Hollow (1999)?
I meant 2019, but would you still disagree?
Yes. Who do you think should’ve won from Marvel’s Capeshit Extravaganza Volume 378?
Ah never mind, you seem to have issues you need to sort out first.
Marvel stans be like:
Says the man saying "Capeshit Extravaganza Volume 378"
Just wanted a suggestion of a better actor for the award, figures literal children can’t give legitimate reasons why “I have famously huge turds” doesn’t cut it for most people.
>figures literal children
Ah yes, the good ole 'youre movie targets a younger audience so that automatically means everyone praising it is a literal child' . Get real lol, the majority of all adults in the United States, not to mention a sizable chunk of adults internationally have watched most of the MCU movies
>why “I have famously huge turds” doesn’t cut it for most people.
No one said it did dumbass. Imagine someone genuinely suggesting that an MCU actor gets an academy award, and you have such a hate boner that to counter it, you quote some irrelevant piece of silly dialogue, the only connection being that it *also* belongs to the MCU, automatically making all actors in that Universe intelligible for the award
To be fair, they have only watched comic book movies since birth
Matthew McConnaghey speech in A Time to Kill <<<<<<<< Mr. Stark I don’t feel good.
Wow… such an underrated movie tbh
I saw it once when I was in school a long time ago and that speech and his delivery still lives rent free in my head.
If I was Leonardo’s right eye, would I be directly looking at a Kubrick Stare?
What awesome cinematography!
Shame the Kubrick’s stare features politics now
RDJ for a best actor Oscar nomination after Endgame because he said “And I am Iron Man” followed by CGI.
She’s too old for you Leo!
Everyone knows Eric Bana was the best Hulk
Oscars happen when comic man stop smile.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Brie Larson the only one of the MCU stars that has an Oscar to their name?
Of the superheroes she’s the only one. But a lot of the main cast have been nominated like RDJ, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, and Chadwick Boseman.
Probably should have clarified my question with "among the Avengers" but yeah good point. the casting offices know how to pick good talent.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Bridges, Sam Rockwell, Natalie Portman, Michael Douglas, Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett, Forest Whitaker, Lupita Nyong'o, Brie Larson, JK Simmons
Natalie Portman ?
Ben Kingsley, Cate blanchett
She's the only Avenger yeah. Out of the other charachters tho there are many like Natalie Portman, Goop, Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins, Tilda Swinton, Russell Crowe, etc...
I mean, a Best Director winner appeared in a couple of films. (yes, yes, I know you meant among the Avengers, I just wanted to say that).
That was the only acting I've ever seen in my whole life.
Please don't remind me of that phase of mine
Jeeze, this is getting to b more of an unironic circlejerk than what it makes fun of.
Is this subreddit just bashing marvel or is it gonna be actually funny
This subreddit “bashed” Martin Scorsese, Tarantino, Lynch, and literally every film director and franchise out there. That’s the purpose of this whole subreddit-to laugh at movies. It doesn’t mean we dislike them-it just means that we find funny shit in every film out there.
It is actually funny if you aren't a stan.
Not when this is the only joke. It was funny at first, but it's just repetitive, boring, and uncreative at this point. Ironic
The sub was nothing but Snydercut posts for months, the mods even changed the banner, and barely anyone complained. The Paddington meme has been going on for fucking forever, and nobody complains about that.
Marvel really isn’t ripped on that much on here in comparison to other big franchises like Star Wars and DC. Yet for some reason it’s the only one that gets people so defensive.
It is still funny if you aren't a stan.
MCU bad upvotes to the left!
Constantly, every day, it loses its humour value really quickly.
It tends to make fun of all kinds of movies with Marvel included.
It’s actually funny, cry
ooh then he can win that oscar!!
What’s this from
Once upon a time in hollywood
BirdMan is the best super hero movie ever made and it is not even about Regular CapeStuff shenanigans.
