this is discussing the way that the definition of "whiteness" has changed throughout time and is not a stable physical thing. german and irish people werent considered white at one time. the concept of whiteness is determined by who is calling someone white and the social structures around the person, and how removed from blackness and "savagery" they are. this is not saying that white people do not exist or should not exist

So they are saying race is a social construct. Biologically we’re all the same. So if we as a society could come to the conclusion that we aren’t different we could admit that whiteness (and black and brown) is only an idea I don’t know why it’s infuriating really, it’s just examining an issue

Majsharan

That’s not really true there are biological/structural signifiers of race. When they autopsy/investigate John/Jane doe found skeletal remains they can often tell if it’s the Skelton of say an Asian person vs a person of African descent

Dangerous_Garage_703

Biologically a Great Dane is the same as a Chihuahua

Huggisare

Very simple question with a very complicated answer, that is if you have to explain what evolution is too

StillGalaxy99

I'm more interested in the video above it

Not bashing your neighbor's skull open and feasting on the goo inside is a social construct.

Picture-unrelated

What does that even mean

-aVOIDant-

Social constructs have a great deal of influence on our lives and on society. To say they "don't exist" is absurd.

Picture-unrelated

Not eating peoples brain goo is a cultural universal for the most part, which is somewhat different than a social construct but ok I get what you are trying to say

cipher2200

What am i looking at?

ifunnygf

what does that even mean
