All humans look the same to insect men from Mars.
By - Polibiux
District 9 they landed in South Africa that was nice for a change
They had a fealty navigation let's be real
Yeah but because the aliens where kinda enslaved and recluded in a gheto... No american filmist would want stain US with that image, well, not THEN
Antarctica crying along with the other countries
They were immigrants, so we put them in a 3rd world country in shitty conditions, I guess.
I mean, even if they hadn't "landed" there, they would probably be placed there.
Yet they still found British people
I'm so glad that ship finally left in 2009, it was really shrouding up the Joburg skyline; pitty they never found that Wikus guy.
That’s part of what I loved about the Covenant invasion of Earth in Halo, they landed in Africa and we got to see a whole different type of invasion.
I mean, it was a film that commented on the residual impact of apartheid which is a South African problem. Setting it in the US would be a bit off. Sort of like doing West Side Story in Pretoria...
Also the director being south African is kinda part of the reason
They were aiming for the ocean and found land.
How Hollywood sees aliens: one planet one living species, seems about rught
So if they kill all humans, they’re alone in the universe ?
Don’t ask me, ask hollywood
do it, it's really cool
Yeah but you need to invest and keep pushing trough the first few episodes, which will drive some people of.
Its okay, as an alien I can say that you all taste the same, so thats pretty much the same thing.
Nahhhh those asians must be tasting different right
They taste like overenthusiasm
Not to mention they always look very similar to species that evolved on Earth.
No, you're unfair. In every American alien movie, there is a scene where they destroy the Eiffel Tower.
...the smaller one from Las Vegas
Edit: Thanks for the Silver Award!
Don’t forget the Statue of Liberty
Which one? The smaller one or the actual one?
I thought the smaller one was stolen
This is making me question as to if all alien movies are just people absolutely smacked off their tits on drugs just writing everything they’re hallucinating, while walking down the Las Vegas strip
And the JUMBOTRON
Reading this too fast and saw "American Destroy Tower"
And the Taj Mahal
London Very Rarely, Or Edinburgh.
Occasionally the Golden Gate Bridge also gets destroyed. When it comes to American monster movies it is inevitable
Oh yes! The golden Gate Bridge is a good target for giant monsters. The Eiffel Tower is more for aliens.
On this subject, I would like to tell you all one thing if you plan to visit Paris : contrary to what you see in movies, the Eiffel Tower isn't viewable from every window in Paris... I'm sorry. I know it's terrible news.
And Big Ben, and The Sydney Opera house, sometimes the leaning tower of Pisa when they're feeling adventurous
That's when there is FX money left!
And the Great Wall of China
Doctor who is gone beyond just England. They've gone to Rome, and the US a few times.
True. I’m just using the UK as a whole because a majority of stories are set there.
All right fair enough
I should watch Dr Who
I can’t recommend it enough. It really is a good show that’s filled with memorable episodes, villains, and protagonists.
I just finished season 5 with the 11th doctor. But who has been your favorite companion out off the first 4 companies? (Rose, Dona, Amelia, or Martha)
Aha you've got something to look forward to. Clara with the 11th or 12th doctor is probably the best duo
Spoilers! Jk. But so far my favorite has been Rose. May be because I have a thing for Blondes but I also think her connecting and love to the Doctor was more deep than the others
Pretty sure its because rose was the doctors first human companion (moffat mentioned this years ago, and later explored during the day of the doctor special episode).
Out of the first 4? Definitely Donna. I loved Donna’s sass and constant back talk that really fit with. Tennant’s Doctor. I wanna know, out of the 5 seasons, which Doctor is your favorite so far? Mine is 11. His childish nature, and dark side really had me loving Matt Smith’s portrayal.
I’m still getting adjusted to the 11th so I don’t wanna choose just yet
I understand. Regeneration is really hard. Especially when you get very attached to the current incarnation. I remember not wanting 10 to regenerate. Especially because Tennant’s performance was top-notch.
But that's also because this one specific alien happens to have found it a nice place.
In the Doctor Who universe, there is a lot of stuff going on that isn't ever shown.
And you might as well say London, because it's almost always London.
The vaguely in universe explanation would be that the invasions usually happen world wide, but the showdown happens where ever the Doctor is, which is usually the UK
Way beyond, but it's still an unusually high proportion who focus on the UK. The same as American alien movies: a lot of them go to other places too, but that isn't the stereotype
Almost like they just film where they are. At least Doctor who attempts to justify it sometimes like with the crack in time in Cardiff.
> but it's still an unusually high proportion who focus on the UK.
I'd argue it's not. It's just that the Doctor travels to the UK a lot. And the series is about him. So when Daleks invade Earth, and he operates some resistance to that from London, it will look like London is the center of attention.
Since 2005, I can really only remember one episode where the aliens targeted the UK themselves.
But most of the time, it's just the focus of the operation by the Doctor, who happens to "live" in London.
That's true in a lot of instances, but if aliens invade one specific place on Earth then it's normally in the UK, and sometimes America. I can't think of a huge amount of examples right now, but a few off the top of my head:
The Zygons invading UNIT in Day of the Doctor
The Titanic Spacecraft almost crashing into the UK
The Slitheen integrated themselves in British society
Madame Vastra hanging out in Victorian England
The deep down lizard people popping up in an English village which is drilling there (sure, not technically aliens and they didn't choose where they resurfaced, but still)
> Madame Vastra hanging out in Victorian England
But she isn't even alien. She was in England before the English.
>The Slitheen integrated themselves in British society
Yes, that's the one I am thinking about.
>The Titanic Spacecraft almost crashing into the UK
Fair point, but that's still just a "honorable mention" of the UK. The episode mostly takes place in space.
>The Zygons invading UNIT in Day of the Doctor
The Zygons didn't opt for London. UNIT brought them there. It's also important to note that Zygons keep crashing on Earth, and we really only hear about the once the Doctor bumps into. And he does so in the UK, because that's where he goes.
Alright, those are fair. Although a few more which I remembered:
"That" episode with the gross goop alien who put everyone's faces on his body that ended with the girl having a face on concrete
The spider lady in Donna's first episode, underneath London
Prisoner 0 in The 11th Hour chilling in Amy's house
That tends to happen when the audience is mostly British and American.
I'm not saying there isn't a reason and it isn't justified. It's fine as it is. It just requires the tiniest bit of suspension of disbelief (and it's a sci-fi show so what's new).
Occasionally there’s a whole world takeover
just the old seasons had too little budget to leave England for filming
Basically every alien franchise has touched on places beyond their own country, though. With most American alien invasion stories, they at least bother to show stuff happening in other countries, but focus on the United States because, well, they're movies made by Americans for Americans.
Yeah same goes for Doctor who and a lot of anime. They usually always mention the other countries
I suspect they say "oh, the exoplanet on YD-2881, lot of water, possible carbon-based life forms, emits weird radio transmissions and radiations. Possibly surrounded by an asteroid field. No consensus on it yet. The buzz passed a couple decades ago, look around, there some cool vintage games about under water exploration on YD-2881-3"
Somehow I think they got tv up there,
"hey grog stop watching the YD-2881 transmissions"
For Doctor Who you could go even further and just have a map of London.
A lot of the filming was actually filmed in and set in Cardiff.
Wasnt the first alien invasion story in the UK?
War of the Worlds by HG. Wells
The movie is pretty entertaining as well
The 2005 one or the 1953 one?
Except the Jotun, Æse, and other creatures came from outside Midgard 1000 years ago.
The Greek has similar stories, except those might actually live on Earth, on mount Olympus I think.
The Jews have "heavenly beings" come from the heavens to Earth.
The Indians have their stories.
Wells might have written the first modern day sci-fi invasion stories, but there have been thousands of such stories with creatures from the sky.
Earth? Not Urath?
Think Allen! Think!
Yes. Also it’s supposed to be Doctor Who, not Dr. Who
What's the difference? Isn't Dr equal Doctor?
Technically yes, but in Dr is usually used for someone who has a medical degree and will do operations or diagnosis, but the Doctor from Doctor Who is legit called ‘The Doctor’, even tho he isn’t a doctor.
Yes you should. It’s a great show. But definitely give it a few episodes. Giving up after 1 would be a mistake. However if you want one single episode that best captures Doctor who to watch first I recommend fires of Pompeii. Really all of series 4 is incredible but that episode has every aspect of Doctor who in it.
I would think that the insect men of Mars would think that humans are all robots.
THE DALEEEEEEEEEEKS ARE THE OCTOPUS EEEeeEVOLUTION
*Antarctica crying along with the other countries*
Evangelion be like
Hollywood aliens aren’t the only ones who see earth that way
Well americans see earth that way, but most times the 2 arent much different
How the heathen martians see earth: Zambia
Unlike Enders Game, in which the aliens primarily target China and India because they have the most dense human population
Just off the top of my head, they've done location filming for Doctor Who in Paris (City of Death), Amsterdam (Arc of Infinity) and parts of the USA (Matt Smith era).
dr who go to America a couple times
Generally, the movie is based in the country its made....
That’s true. It was just a joke about how we never see an alien invasion in Kenya or someplace like that.
Tbh, Arrival displayed it best. Aliens come and land in random places, they don't give a shit about Earth politics.
The geopolitical aspect of an alien contact is fascinating to think about.
I think there's one short little word to describe it:
Ah yes,**tentacle hentai.**
Its Doctor Who not Dr. Who.
But that is totally accurate.
Guess Independence Day didn’t show aliens all across the globe
I was looking for this comment. The ships were over every major city in the world, but yes, the protagonists were from America.
Aliens in reality: humans are still evolving, we'll wait for another hundred years before making contact
Actually I think aliens refer to Earth as planet Bob if I remember correctly.
How about Transformers? They’ve been all over
The *snacks* are crunchy on the outside and chewy in the middle.
South Park Aliens in the 4th one
Can confirm, am alien. Is Earth.
How Christopher Paolini's aliens in the novel *To Sleep in a Sea of Stars* see Earth: many many planets stretching as far as the star Sigma Draconis in all directions
The dr who one isn’t that bad, there’s other countries. It’s just the aliens they fight tend to be the ones in England most the time.
Like how Scotland has a lot of Zygons and control the loch ness monster
How the aliens from Roadside Picnic sees earth: Canada
I mean it would make sense aliens would try to take out the biggest threats first if they wanted to conquer us U.S, Russia, China, the UK.
How alien government see Earth: Highway will be build there and they had 100 years to learn about it on the galactic transportation board. We are demolishing it today.
Hitchhikers guide. Nice
Apparently in Doctor Who lore the reason why all the crazy alien shit happens in the UK is because its geographical location is technically the center of the universe.
Also plot convenience.
To be fair, the first one is how Americans see earth as well.
As a Martian with an American Green card, I can confirm that.
WHERES THE TENTACLE ALIENS????
How aliens see earth:
"Oh no fuck that place, there are humans there..."
The tentacle aliens also see a small part of Massachusetts. And they care more about the ocean in the picture.
No one wants to visit this shithole earth
Its always "how aliens see earth" but it never "how human see (what ever the fuck their planet is)" like predator planet is huge fuckin hunting ground? And all of their species only doing hunting for a living? Bruhh
Can confirm, im something sort of an alien myself
Hey I’m not complaining though, at least where I live is completely safe from movie aliens
Aha. In the New MiB movie half of its based in Paris and Morocco
When will I ever get to see real alien representation in film?
Edge of Tomorrow probably counts
I made it myself
Now i'm wondering what if some bullshit film about alien was set in Italy, with all the stereotypes and shit
They don’t even call it Earth. They’ll have their own name for it.
i'm guessing an alien made this meme?
some body hasn't see the futurama movie
Below is an image of how star wars aliens see earth:
How do you know this????
I can confirm I do see earth like my alien friends
How would you know?
How does he know?😳
Edge of Tomorrow: “Am I a joke to you?”
Earth is earth
Movie plot just takes place in US. Most of them invade entire planet.
I think there would be a higher chance for aliens landing in the water, since it's better for sustaining life and isn't as acidic as oxygen.
aliens: oh god its earth go, around space Florida thats the last place i wanna be
I mean wasn’t there a giant weeping angel as the lady liberty statue at one point.
More like "Earth is fucked!"
Zombies: Vegas Baby!
How HFY sees earth: CLASS 7 DEATH WORLD DONT ENTER WITH OUT A FUCKING HAZMAT SUIT OR YOUR WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEM WILL GET FUCKED HARDER THAN YOU COULD EVER FATHOM
First account answer
Aliens see it the same way I see holes
Holes are holes
In fairness, there are a few episodes of Dr Who that aren’t in the uk bit are on Earth. However, I do agree
i bet its actually like 1HS4BF455 planet
How aliens actually see earth "New Mexico"
I mean doctor who aliens where everywhere not just England
In halo the aliens landed in Africa in a city called “New Mombasa.”
And how would you know how aliens actually see earth
Shurley you mean....Urath
Well even that is not true all the time. Because for some people Earth is flat, for some others it’s a globe and for a few it’s a flippin Donut…
Can confirm, am alien
My family and friends have a running gag about there being a barrier shield around the Netherlands since in no disaster movie does anything ever happen to us. So now the joke is that while the earth is dying around us, zombies everywhere, etc the Netherlands are just sitting there everything's normal just like any other day.
Great contrast, very amusing to us.
Its a fact
You absolute buffoon.
Doctor Who takes place anywhere in TIME and SPACE.
Aliens have been on other planets.
Not JUST Europe.
Yea we’ve been waiting for you guys to figure it out
Why does EVERYONE talk shit about America? I didn't ask that question in German did I? You're welcome
Notice how the earths round tho
How history Channel aliens see earth: remember that planet we left monkeys on
This is a lie, I have never seen an alien land in Ohio
In halo the aliens landed in Mombasa, Africa. Which I thought was very creative and interesting.
the Dr who is wrong, there has been loads in dif country it’s more like america uk australia france germany russia is ect
doctor who is awesome
how do you know that? are **you** an alien!?
Reminds me of that episode of Knuckleheads where the government actually questioned why the aliens only invaded Canada.
Actually, sometimes Dr Who’s aliens have been in a different place. But yeah you’re right, 95% of it is in England or on a different planet
Wait, this isn’t Urath?
Send them to Brazil
sounds like something an alien would say
But if aliens do come they would just assume the leader of earth is the most powerful president of a rich country
Yeah the first one only sees California and Nevada
pp shaped uk
I mean the rest of us aren’t really complaining…except maybe about the tentacle aliens.
Tentacle hentai comes from japan. Coincidence? I think NOT
how Russians in movies see Earth: USA
