But are you windows 95 old or MSDOS old? Lol.
[I'm more like this old](https://meador.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/coco2boot.png?w=584)
Those were the days. Not good days, not bad days. Just simply, the days :)
Bro remember the pinball game that came with it?
No. But only because back then I admittedly was just a babe and it was my dad trying to teach me how things work with IBM's. However, I just looked up what you href-d and That sound is exactly what I heard at night from my dad's room while in bed and OMG such nostalgia. Thank you for that!
You're aright div, for that href lol
I rememeber finding that so funny in school when I discovered html and right div. Calling everyone in class a right div and then arguing why it was educational and not insulting to the teach. Bahaha
In school we used to play it and interesting part the teacher allowed it.
Why you do that to me *weeps motherfuckerly
Yes and minesweeper. Long shot but did you ever play power Pete? Also known as mighty Mike.
Remember the days of having to find the right IRQ for your sound card so Doom shareware would have sound?
People don't realize where we we've been and how much todays PC OSes do behind the scenes.
Then throw in a network card and configure the TCP stack.
Stop, you're giving me flashbacks
Damn how old are you guys
Manually configuring the sound and modem divers so they didn't IRQ conflict, then there's that damn memory address. A lot of people don't remember a time when a 3d accelerator wasn't imbedded. 3dfx broke barriers with the voodoo3, what? Graphics and 3d accelerator on one card? Nooo
Now let's show age though. Running games from a 5.25 via batch rile menus.. that was a time
That's the 3rd one I couldn't remember!
Very important! That's the one you had to edit in order to free up memory to run the game!!
Fuck i hated looking for drivers...
And here I figured I was the village elder, with my C64 glory days. I respectfully tip my hat to ye.
\*Looks at the pile next to his bed\*
Okay, I can see 3 C64 at the bottom of the pile of clothes, 2 286 boards with literally nothing else attached on top of the pile, 1541-II below some cans of beer, STM32-based half-done IEC-USB adapter next to it
Time to revive some stuff I guess
I had one of those when I was growing up. We also had a Commodore Vic-20
daym bro, ok
Hell yea the TRS 80
Thank you for correcting me I'm still expanding my knowledge on Radio shack computers
I'm transistor radio old.
Noob. You need to be [this old](https://www.continuum.umn.edu/umnlib/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/TabulationCard.png) to ride this ride
Used to play with punch cards when I was a kid. 1st home computer was Apple //e.
I am Zork + 10 years old
Nonsense, I remember when the first tv had colors
I litterally thought u were gonna rick roll.me
Same…I don’t even get a nostalgic feeling from XP because there were jobs I had like 2 years ago that still ran XP. Matter of fact I remember McDonald’s had one of their menus running on XP in the last 5 years because one was on the screensaver for about a month when I went in
Oh man, memories.
I mostly fooled around with a ZX Spectrum a friend of my dad had.
DOS and 3.1
Anyone remember 3.0 ? Seems like a small window of time where that was a thing.
Nope. I always wondered about that. And also windows 1 and 2 - were they ever released?
No clue. I went from a Apple IIe to a win 3.0 on a 286 and I was FLLLLLYYYYING. It was awesome tech!
Yep, they were more like Dosshell than Windows though, that’s why 3.x is the first one most people remember, cuz it’s the first one with an ACTUAL “GUI” that wasn’t exactly running on top of DOS as just another DOS applications
I remember when my mom told me about Windows 3.x, and explained what a "mouse" was, when I was probably about six. I refused to believe her, it sounded so outlandish that I was sure she was making fun of me. I mean, you just "click" on stuff? What does that even MEAN.
Yes they were, mainly in the US
3.1 is the first 1 i remember, but it was quickly replaced with 3.11.
DOS 6 and config.sys / auto exec.bat with different extended memory management options to play games, IIRC.
My elementary school had windows 98. For reference: I was born in 2002
Did you have it on those colorful bubble iMacs?
Only rich schools had that.
Do Yall Remember Number Munchers ....I'll Wait
After my time, I think. I was more Oregon Trail and Reader Rabbit.
Carmen San Diego, O'Dell Lake
The Secret Island of Dr. Quandary
Do you even Minesweeper bro?
LOVE number munchers. You can still play it in a browser.
I played Word Munchers.
Loved that game. Gapper was cool too. Scorched Earth was one of my favorites.
fuck. Now where did diskette #5 go for win3.1?
Win 95 bro
I'm old enough to remember modifying autoaexec to not boot directly to windows 3.1.
I'm "got traumatized waiting for the 'It's now safe to shut down your computer' message' old.
(Computers scared me when I was little because they were unpredictable and would occasionally crash for absolutely no reason)
I fear i am not as ancient and chosen as the beings around me
I started on MSDOS, playing adventure chess. It was a cool game for the time. Had animation and sounds.
Same here. C:
I started on MSDOS, playing Leisure Suit Larry. Because my brother had tons of Sierra games, and I was convinced LSL was about a detective solving a case. I probably played it for about a month before my mom finally figured out what it was and the game disappeared.
Living that DOS life
Def better than living a DDOS life I'd say
You need an hour and 3 discs and ten lines of code to boot up and play Jeopardy with 12 questions total and Oregon Trail
Windows 3.1 babbbbby
[I believe I’m older](https://preview.redd.it/w2n81iqx37p51.gif?format=mp4&s=c2abf82b54eab98cc241193426682bc62158efec)
Maybe. Just maybe. 😂
That’s not old, is it?
Lol wtf I keep seeing these. Can’t wait for the “are you this old” question over something newish like fidget spinners. I mean, people who experienced windows xp are anywhere from 25-100years old right now. Windows xp itself is what? 20 years old?
ARE YOU AT LEAST 20 YEARS OLD? Woooooowwwwww
Dude for real I’m 22 and I remember this. I am not fucking old thanks
It just goes to show how young Redditors are. They think mid 20s is old rofl.
Mid 20's is definitely not old. But it is when most people start to realize that they are getting older. It's when most people realize they're not a kid anymore. Hence why you see so many 20-30 year olds talking about how they are old, because it's clicking in their head that they're adults now.
Give it a few years and Reddit will have you thinking you’re ancient.
22!! How's it going grandpa! Don't fall off your razor scooter and break a hip!!
Windows XP end of life was just 7 years ago.
there were pcs around in the mid 2000s running xp
MTV was playing britney spears one morning during their Classic Videos show, so yes. Apparently XP is old. I remember typing commands in on our first computer but am refusing to believe that makes me old.
When the new songs from bands of the time you were listening to in middle and high school are now on the "classic rock" radio stations...
[when did Motley Crue become classic rock?](https://youtu.be/K38xNqZvBJI)
First computer was a Gateway. That's how I know I'm old.
To most Reddit users it is. But no, Windows XP isn't old.
October 25th, 2001 almost 20 years ago now
Sure, but noone used XP in October 2001. On the other hand, a lot of people used XP well into 2010s. Microsoft even pushed security updates until 2014.
Yeah, that's why I think the meme doesn't apply. Yes XP is old but you can be a teen and still have had extensive experience/memories of using xp.
That’s true. I’m 14, and I remember Windows XP. I remember just drawing random things in Paint most of the time.
I’m 17 and my first experience with computers is with windows me, a windows older than the xp. So, yeah
Yup, I was still on XP in 2014
WinXP had a significant market share well into the 2010s. Using it in 2016 would be unremarkable. Especially for a child. https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide/#monthly-200901-202106
You might reasonably remember logging in if you were a 7 yo. That makes the hypothetical “old” user as young as 12 years.
I feel like most people on Reddit are old enough to remember this
r/memes is filled with 13 year olds new to reddit so correct target audience
At this point its just 14-15 year olds gatekeeping 11 year olds
Tfw your Reddit account is nearly as old as some redditors
Wow a veteran
After all these years here, how are you still sane?
The trick is to only ever rarely comment.
Props to you my buddy. It's been real long for you
But 15 year Olds would remember windows xp
Yeah thats the point
I mean it kinda just depends. My sister is 17 and she never even heard of anything other than windows 10
Yeah next is win 98s "it is now safe to turn off your computer"
and before that actual floppy discs, I was like 5. Mom had a computer for school and one of the discs was frogger. Fuck yeah
But… this isn’t that old 😩
its been 20 years
Right but im 25 and remember this. Is 25 old now?
I mean, I'm younger than XP, but I still remember it, does that mean 18 is old also?
Apparently so, fellow boomer
Guess I need to start typing on my phone with my index finger, like a good boomer.
Walk your happy ass to the nursing home, you old fuck.
Idk I remember this from my moms computer but I’m only 16 so idek
That means you should remember 3 OSs before this (win me, 2000 and '98).
I'm slightly older and I am 4 OSs older (including win95)
Why are all of these posts about things that aren’t that old?
Because they’re posted by 15 year olds lol
We need a /im15andthisisold subreddit.
Ah... The good ol' days of Windows XP... Playing 3D Pinball all day 😂
That 3d pinball game was the best.
Don't forget paint. Got me hooked for hours. Kinda regret not saving/printing any of the artwork.
Shit, I just tried finding the android 3d pinball game and all I get are results for android (the phone).
Wonderful memories aren't they?
I wanted to find a exe file of it and get it on my win 10 pc but no luck
and Spider Solitaire
I actually *still* use windows xp on my old pc.....
Im a bit older.
I feel sorry for whoever thinks 20 is old. You got a rude awakening coming.
Windows 3.1 baby!
I am Win 95 old.
I was in university, August 24, 1995, when Win 95 came out. I remember getting on the bus that morning to go to the mall to get my copy.
I got my copy at Babbage's.
Actually, I’m windows 3.11 old.
OS/2 + DOS dual boot system lol
Didn't really understand it as a kid but memorable because of the games!
Yup, I had a PC with 3.11 on it. Only thing I could do on it was mess around with paint, didn't even have any DOS games...
Apple DOS & MSDOS old.
Bruh this my school computer
I am ‘c:\ >cd games’ old
Let me see what you have in here
Look at you, not fiddling with autoexec.bat like a champ
I remember like it was yesterday the day it was discontinued. But now I checked and saw that it was in 2014. Time flies really
10 PRINT "This is how old I am."
20 GOTO 10
Same here. Thought I was cool making waves back and forth.
I remember watching kids do that at department stores at the displays, making them say swears, doing the waves and patterns, and walking away like they just hacked the pentagon.
We were gonna be the next war games!!! Take over the world!!!
Yes i was there when the Internet was born...
In my computer lab this is still used lmao
I'm always a little annoyed at posts like this. You don't have to be old to experience windows xp. I was born in 2007 and used windows xp for most of my life.
In contrast, I am 25 and I barely used XP apart from twice and used 98 more than most others
This reminds me all the old flash games. I miss them so much
Oh god, I remember these days. I had a Windows XP, until it suddenly stopped working because I filled up the memory, so it BSOD’d.
3D Space Pinball was really fun too, the days.
And paint making you feel like a well renowned graphic designer
Yeah but mainly because my parents refuse to upgrade tech until it's riddled with viruses or on the verge of exploding
Windows ME old.
wow, windows had a mass effect skin? /s
Shh, we don't talk about that one. Nothing happened between 2000 and XP.
I'm command line old
Yep. What a fast start up time compared to my windows 98
we still have one and even an windows 95 somewhere in the dust
You don't have to be old to experience this.just be poor
This is not that old
My work was still using this in 2011 so yeah I’m at least 10 years old
This isn't that old..
Right im not even out if my 20s yet and I remember this as a kid
Right? I remember this being state of the art.. I guess my age is showing (31).. but this was when I was leaving gr8 or so.
Man i had so much fun changing my profile pic and desktop colors lmfao
That’s…not old, you karma whore
I started with Windows 3.11. Guess I’m a geezer.
I am punching cards old.
I still have a pc with winXP on it for my old games
Windows XP was the best OS change my mind.
Atari TOS old ..
I am Amstrad CPC old
My family owned this desktop until 2020 I swear to god it was the oldest thing in the house
O-M-G, the childhood 😢😭
I used to watch windows media player spiral thing for hours. It was fun then.Good times
@ me with DOS, then we'll talk lol
I remember this only because my old school had an ancient computer room with this system. I still remember playing that skiing game where I could never figure out how to beat the monster. This was about 10 years or so ago so they probably have new ones now.
I'm [this](https://youtu.be/-r6CnPzTXKE) old.
But Windows XP is not considered old right ? ... right ?
I am older
My first laptop was the Nickelodeon Green Slime Delll Mini anyone remember that shit-
Here is something I found about it:
I am win98 gen!
I started on 3.11. Am I really that old or is the meme community just this freaking young?
That's not THAT old c'mon man. Unless you're like 15 right now I can understand. You need to go wat further than that. The Black and White era.
What's old about this ?
Tang tang tan ta tan nnn
Not old… EXPERIENCED, you hack!
Fckgw rhqq2 yxrkt 8tg6w 2b7q8
Burned into my brain.
I’m 17 and I still have a computer that has that. As a kid I used to play Age of Empires 1 and 2 on it every Saturday morning for years. Now I don’t use it anymore, but it brings back memories.
I'm dial-up AOL old...
that’s not even very old
Man.... this hurts but - I’m this old: https://iv1.lisimg.com/image/8562468/717full-ms--dos.jpg
I'm older. When I see xp, I think of "the new windows that look weird"
If you arent manually typing in your username (case sensitive) and password you miss me with that newfangled windows
