Pouring one out for my homeboy Jenkins

thxac3

Fun fact: he has a full tree of skill points you can fill out! This is is especially amusing on NG+ when you have like 60 points to dump in there. It takes longer to do that than he has screen time.

Affectionate-Bar-846

ME1 is my ‘Confort game’. I love the other games as well, but there is something about the pace, the soundtrack in this one that’s special for me.

holiobung

It feels like old school sci-fi. Especially the soundtrack

cl0th0s

The title music is instantly calming and comforting when I hear it. The song at the end during the credits is super emotional for me. Everything In-between is just as fantastic but those two tracks stand out the most to me. Oh, and Flux's music. Everytime I get to the citadel and visit Flux I have to crank it up and rock out for a little while.

Affectionate-Bar-846

Exactly!

DeeHolliday

ME1 will always be one of My Games, y'know? ME2 and 3, as I get older, are harder and harder to complete -- I tend to fall off halfway through a playthrough and forget about it somewhere along the way. They don't quite hold my attention these days. But ME1 is a real comfort. I can play it back to back to back. I know every inch, from the location of every Keeper to each nook and cranny of all the uncharted worlds. I barely play video games these days, but every now and then I pop in ME1 and I don't touch anything else in my free time until I've finished it. The pace, the score, the sound effects, the atmosphere... the little hints at a wider universe itching to be explored. ME1 wasn't a perfect game by any means, but it was perfect for me. The rest of the series never quite lived up to it for me, but that's okay, because I'll always have this gem that I'll play again and again :)

Affectionate-Bar-846

In 2 and 3 everything is a little rushed and important, while in me1 you can just hang around the uncharted worlds, chasing pyjacks…

ThePrince0fPrinces

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Couldn’t agree more!💯🎯

Ah the gasbags

BBQTuck

Damn!

Erok2112

I thought that exact thing when I saw this picture.

Finchyy

Legend has it that the Reapers of Shepard's cycle were creating their ultimate design: Gas Bag Reapers. With their flatulating prowess combined with Reaper tech, they would wipe out the civilised races in one, foul fart!

Sir_Entity

Thatd actually be terrifying

JarlBallin420

Doing my annual legendary playthrough again and in the middle of 2 now, love it and will continue to do so.

slice29

I do the same thing. Just started my playthrough last night.

JarlBallin420

That and trying to take different crew on certain missions to hear their dialog is pretty nice too

NuklearFerret

Same. ME2 feels kind of like a slog this time though, and I’m not sure why.

JarlBallin420

Probably anticipation for the improvements of 3. Same way with the first one.

NuklearFerret

Most likely. Also, going directly from 1 to 2 makes 2 feel a little claustrophobic. Going from big, open maps with pretty skyboxes into a cover-based corridor shooter is weird. Even in the Firewalker and Overlord content, the vehicle sections are all in narrow valleys. ME2’s greatest strength is in it’s character arcs, which means you won’t be picking up much new information on replays if you were thorough in past play-throughs. That being said, many of the characters never get old.

JarlBallin420

Indeed, especially taking certain members on loyalty missions. I'm planning on taking Legion and Tali on Project Overlord for fun.

holiobung

Yup. The bulk of the game is about your individual crew members and not the overall story. So that slows things down a bit.

VulcanHullo

"This time I'll look after Jenkins." *3 minutes later* "*nuts!*" "I'll try again next playthrough"

AdamGoodtime123

Man, it's soooo hard to save him, but totally worth the effort. I first thought that having Jenkins become the Krogan leader if Wrex dies in ME1 was an odd move, but they completely pull it off. *Fantastic* storytelling right there.

Cthulhuwar1ord

That needs to become a subreddit lmao

OPrivetMarkII

Almost bought it for a second there...

angrypoliticsposter

Ship perimeter secure commander

Kurtai85

I'm about to start my umpteenth playthrough, but my first playthrough romancing Ashley all the way through. Also my first full playthrough on insanity. Well, maybe with a side piece in ME2.....

Corpsehatch

I want to start a new playthrough with Paragon DudeBroShep romancing Tali.

YeesherPQQP

Do it!

toxicMountainFrost

goddamn it...guess I need to go around again for the third time this year.

UnjustBaton1156

Do it.

FreneticFlan

On a new playthrough as well, it really is like you say. Feeling of coming home almost.

SwordsandShuttles

I sense something terrible is about to happen...

Smititar

I really enjoy playing a wide variety of video games, and I try to work through my backlog or at least play different games throughout the year... That being said, in the back of my mind almost always is "boy I'd really like to play Mass Effect again"

Gery9705

that would be the original game...

survivor686

Just remember to shoot all the gas bags - >!this gives a subtle hint to Jenkins to keep his shields locked at 'combar status' and he will survive the geth drone ambish!<

holiobung

Lol

billistenderchicken

I haven’t started 3 yet but I already want to play 1 again.

KHaskins77

Given to understand you need a mod to apply the red sky to Eden Prime? Haven’t played LE yet.

holiobung

I’m playing on PS5. No mods. I wouldn’t know lol.

westjames7654

I started a new one last week. Doing an engineer renegade. Some of the stuff you say is hilarious! Can’t wait to launch that merc out the window in 2!

bad_arts

Re did 1 recently enough. Gonna redo 2 once the summer dies down. Such a massive game.

Fortherebellion72

Love the Peter Cullen quote.

EnceladusSc2

Ew, is that Legendary Edition?
