The left side feels like just Greenland being made too big and the right is kind of swapping south America with Africa and then chopped off Florida from north America.
I’m still in debate wether to keep it or taking it away. It was a last minute decision when I added that piece of land there. Only reason why I did because that area felt a bit too empty.
I aimed to sort of parody the real world but different style of land and here’s how it went. I will make a completely different style of fantasy map out of my head next. This was more to see how it’d turn out
I like the general shape of the continents, it's reminiscent of earth but not too much imo. The country borders (I assume that's what they are) are a bit indistinctive though, every country looks like the same jaggedy blob. Overall I like it.
Yh I earth is the main influence in this map. I also tried to make it as realistic as I could you know keeping mind of tectonic plates how sea levels affect land mass alarat but yh. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I respect it
In reference to the tectonic plate realism: worlds don't start with 1 and drift into many and then that's it. Judging by earth's evidence, they seem to go in a cycle of supercintent -> many continents -> super continent-> many continents -> etc. It's estimated there have been at least 4 or 5 supercontents in earth's past including pangea.
So I guess when I say it's "earthy", I mean that the layout of the continents is modeled after a very specific time period of Earth. Not a class M planet in general, but earth in specific and in our time period in specific.
In basically any other time period the earth would have looked radically different. This, combined with the general shape, feels very "alternate modern" to me. If this parallelism is purposeful, then it's definitely accomplished, but if this world isn't supposed to be somehow related to homo-sapien time period earth then it's a bit too on the nose imo.
Some thoughts...
As for land mass, The similarities of Africa , Europe, Asia Australia etc... are immediately obvious. If you are looking for an alternate earth I'd think you should make the North and South America more alike... if not then reduce the similarity of the rest. You might consider making a landmass like Mu , Before Cook, Vancouver, etc.. explored the pacific it was believed there must be a massive continent somewhere down there to balance out the land in the northern hemisphere, when Austriala was discovered it was thought to be an extension of that continent... why not connect it to your south pole?
As for the national borders... it depends on the time period. If you are in the age of sail or past it the borders are weighted towards to many inland nations. Look at maps of Africa and Asia and count the number of nations that do not have any claim on a coastline, and then compare that to the number on your map. Sea trade and transport, or accessibility to it, is the lifeblood of nations in the modern world. Inland countries with no ports will be swallowed up by their more powerful coastal neighbors. Just a generality of course, but it does hold true over time.
Overall, nice map. Best of luck.
Is it supposed to look like the real world?
About half of them do, yeah.
Yh
Left side looks good, right side seems too earthly to me.
True I did take some inspirations from earth and some games

There’s 100% 3 contintinents there maybe 4 including Australia down there

I think it’s a good add, personality
Looks cool, it doesn't matter if it looks like earth

You’re right honestly but thanks
It looks like you got rid of both Western Europe and Western Africa and zoomed in a lot on mainland Danmark
Reminds me of Valkryia Choronicals
What’s that
Japanese strategy game
A bit too earthy for my taste, but whatever floats your boat.

Still a working progress the map border may look irritating but I will fix it up so bare with me...
Man Reddit is like your girlfriend. Very bipolar and very confusing…
Which way are the plates moving? That will help you decide what the continent margins look like.
