Mark my words, these will slowly accumulate value over time for collectors. They will accumulate a lot of nostalgic value and will operate like non-TCG trading cards, a la baseball cards.
They are a good looking product that does something aesthetically that nothing else does and can be collected in the same binders as the TCG components of the game...
That's why I always ask for the stacks of them people have after they open a box. They don't care, but I find them very pleasing to look at, and I have the space to keep a stack of them on my desk to shuffle through when I'm in the mood for some good art. I could see myself trading for specific art cards in the future if I have any nostalgic attachment to a certain card.
Yeah, the thing I see here is that they are artifacts that cause feelings for some. And it's not just covetous greedy feelings, haha! Genuine feelings of excitement, curiosity and nostalgia. This is what makes a trading card collectible long term outside of it having function inside of a gaming system.
I collect them already, it's 50 cents in my country, people in my LGS mostly give to me or sell for 50 cents. Once in a while I buy a bunch from the internet to finish the collection. I need to finish Dominaria and Brother's war
Lol now that’s the craziest thing I’ve heard today. The art cards will NEVER be valuable! Sure they’re cute to look at but there is no demand compared to the supply.
I'm not just being silly here, I promise!
The nature of the future demand will be driven by the same forces as what you see for Baseball Cards and Comics where what matters is that this is an artifact related to a narrative that people care about. The artifact is made before something important related to a character(or player) or place happens. That might be a teeny tiny subset of people, but those people will care A LOT about whatever the thing is about. The moment that you tack stories on artifacts, you create the potential for sentimental collecting.
I recognize this is a bit of a crazy take, but if you're the kind of person who likes these cards and uses them as decorations/bookmarks/tokens, let it be known you're not alone.
Additionally, many people are just tossing these art cards a la old Force of Wills, thus destroying a substantial amount of supply.
What I'm getting at is there are some interesting dynamics with the art cards that aren't the case for other things that come in boosters nowadays...
I mixed some of them in my binder with the actual playing cards from the Brothers war set to recreate the story. I’m still building it but it’s quite fun to find the right arrangement
I'll be honest, I don't see myself ever playing MTG but I love getting the art cards. I was so excited for the Adventures in the Forgotten Realms art cards, they're some of my favorites I have so far
Not all of the Manga Variants got art cards. Only Elesh Norn, Jace, Vraska, Nissa, Thrun, Kaito, Lukka, and Nahiri did. Kaya, The Wanderer, Tyvar, Koth, Melira, Jor Kadeen, Kemba, and Graaz do not have their Manga variants available as art cards.
The art cards make for fantastic pack "covers" if you use clear boxes like the burgertoken ones for cube/jumpstart, a lot of these will look so good for that purpose
Don't know how popular those thick etched cards are in Commander decks, but I'd rather have an art card in each Commander deck. It's a cool alternate way to showcase the commander. A friend of mine runs Hidetsugu and he has the art card in front of the real card when he's in the command zone, then flips/reveals the proper card when he enters play. (Only when playing with friends obviously, he's not trying to hide anything.)
I know most people pass on these but art cards might be my favorite part of new sets

There is no demand *yet*.
Lol why not just hoard popsicle sticks or pogs then if the only criteria is lack of demand?!

Some of them make good tokens. I use a Reflection of Kiki Jiki art card for the Goblin token of Fable.
I love the art cards! They are perfect for binder display and give you a nice overview of the art of the set!
I am BEYOND HAPPY that they gave us the Manga variants as art cards. No need to chase the actual cards.

Ah dang you're right, thats a bummer.
Hmmm, some of the "ink"-style and some of the "manga"-style artworks in here. Sadly none of the oil slick art.
Oh wow I really want the signed Junji Ito art card. More than the card itself
Crestfallen there is no art card for [[Basilica Shepherd]] it's so cute 🥺

You can use that manga Elesh Norn as a borderless, textless, fullart proxy for your EDH deck, not only officially printed by WotC but also dirt cheap!
I love the art series cards!
How annoying these are all rotated 90’ I rotate my phone and the whole site rotated even further. Just show them in landscape. :/
Just turn off auto rotate

I have a full set of the signed art cards for both D&D sets. Really cool collector items. They are not for everyone though.
