Don't you think it's better than being a chain worker in one of Urabrask's Factory?
Phyrexian Marx was right. Factory's line work does alienate people! See how they're not acting phyrexian as well as that productive golem!
My littlest niece's first encounter with the beach (with very, very fine sand:) "It's too *sandy*!"
Don't worry, she got over it. Admittedly, the stuff *does* get everywhere and is impossible to avoid in that environment. She also really did not, and still does not, like to have her hands dirty and the fine stuff sticks to everything.
if i wasn't "forced" to swim because "what that could do to me" i would have literally did like you, only on the beach lounger (solving rebuses andplaying game boy 8 hours straight)
Usually when I'm in a position where I want lands, I want it in my hand. Taking a turn "off" to just draw my land can make me feel like I've Time Walked myself. At least it's a "May" and at 2 colourless mana you can't complain too much. Maybe if you are going 3+ colours it could find a spot.
Most of the time you're grabbing a land with this on turn 2 when you don't have a third or fourth land already in hand. I'd be less excited to put this in a deck that doesn't care about Toxic though.
Yep definitely agreed on that use case, but that's the ceiling with a turn 3 in hand. You do need the stars to align a little for that. I haven't processed everything to know if a 2/1 can realistically get in with Toxic. From prior experiences its not likely, but will see in the environment!
Yeah, I have trouble evaluating Toxic creatures in general. A 2/1 doesn't look very likely to get a hit in. We'll have to play the format to figure that out.
Note that it's a "may" trigger. Probably wouldn't be doing this after turn 3. A 2/1 with toxic can still be pretty useful.
(That said, it's a clear downgrade from The Scrapwork Mutt)
The entire purpose of a card like this in limited is to let you keep hands you would otherwise have to mulligan. Having 2 lands in hand and then hoping to draw a third off the top can lead to disaster. It's half the reason why a card like [[Scrapwork Mutt]] in BRO is first pickable (assuming you don't have any good rares or uncommons).
I'm a "bad limited card" apologist and I would rather have scry 1 on this guy than his ability. Splashing via this route seems extremely iffy by forcing one of your future draws to be lands.
You want it but you need to spend a draw step drawing it in.
If you already have four lands and topdeck this you gotta force yourself you to take the time to draw a fifth land of your splash color instead of anything else that may help you.
If you don't have the bomb in your hand, do you just decline now? Or are you priced into doing it obligatorily?
If a 2/1 toxic creature fits your gameplan, then this is playable. We'll see how good that is. But the effect is extremely weak in my book, this is a [[Bronze Sable]] where the bonus pushes you towards flooding out.
Not to mention the bombs of this set look like 2 pipped dominuses. One land isn't going to do it. Would you ever cast a *second* one of these?
Well, I was all quarantined still during STX, so I'll concede the point. Maybe I'm really wrong here.
Still my instincts for aversion to "top of deck" keep ringing. But I'll be looking out for it.
Limited is a "do more with less" format. Colorless fixing and card draw is almost universally playable. Even a rummage card like [[Scrapwork Mutt]] in BRO is considered among the best 2 drop commons in the format. Granted, you get to use its ETB twice, in most games, but colorless flood protection is still good because you want to maximize the number of spells you play. Dune Mover effectively does that. If you splash for a bomb, but can't ever play it, you're basically down a card. It might as well just not be in your hand if you can't cast it. This provides pseudo card advantage by enabling you to play a card you otherwise probably wouldn't be able to play. Is it a bad topdeck? Sure. It's pretty bad, but not much worse than any other 2 drop common topdeck. It also has a minor upside in its Toxic ability. I'll take as many of these as I can in limited and be happy for them.
The ETB effect is better than it looks in limited and I think especially the decks trying to get corrupted online will want as many toxic low drops as possible. Probably playable in most decks looking to poison their opponents.
Yeah it’ll get played for sure as a colorless mana fixer.
You know what would have been a little better without pushing the limit on a common, would be if you could put the land on your library OR in your graveyard, that way late game it also removes lands from your deck.
Norn: "It's nice but can't we do something about all this?"
Serf: "All of what, maam?"
Norn: "You know, the little, disobedient, yellow, floor things."
Serf: "The sand?"
Look, sometimes you gotta splash a third colour because you opened a bomb, and your only fixing options are either this or a [slightly-less-shitty Manalith](https://scryfall.com/card/one/237/phyrexian-atlas).
Glad this exists, even though I won't often be happy to play it.
also if you have six corrupted payoffs and a decent number of pump and removal spells, you're just going to want anything that costs 2 or less and has toxic.
Yeah I feel like [[Wayfarer’s Bauble]] and [[Chromatic Sphere]] like cards could be too good of a common colorless mana fixer in an “artifact matters” set like this, so this is as good as gets I think with this environment.
Modern 1/10
We have seen this card effect a few times and it sucks. It isn't even card advantage. Putting it on a 2/1 for 2 that dies to something like W6 is kind of insulting too if the best case scenario is fixing my land a little bit at the cost of my next draw.

Strictly oilier [[Campus Guide]]. Given the statline, I'm a bit surprised this isn't a Myr.

It probably was a Myr at some point.
This art rocks it looks like from a much older time in magic
kev walker's art style is brilliant for this
he did SO much of the OG mirrodin block art its truly iconic
There’s a few ONE cards that feel like that, [[Ichorblood Golem]]’s art wouldn’t look out of place in the original New Phyrexia block

I love Kev Walker.
I’d rather have a put in hand effect for 1 mana more
This is still pretty good for Limited. Helps you splash or hit lands early and of course has synergy in Toxic decks. Does a lot of work for 2 mana.
