Carbs like saltine or Ritz crackers, Chex Mix, dry cereal, and animal crackers (those barely sweet ones, not frosted). When my gastro system is upset I tend to not want meal food, only snacks.
i snack constantly, most days i can barely tolerate meals
Peanut butter sandwich and bottled water.
Mashed potatoes with corn.
Ensure (chocolate flavoured)
Popcorn. Many summer nights I have popcorn for dinner.
Me too! Thought I was weird for it, guess not!
For me it’s pho broth (Vietnamese bone broth) or something bready and savory, but gluten free, like gf toast with butter. GF mac and cheese definitely falls in the second category.
Cheesy egg rice; Eggs and 5 minute instant rice microwave exactly the same.
1c rice, 1c chicken bullion broth, 2 eggs.
stir it all together, microwave for 3 minutes, stir it all up again (making sure to get the cooked egg bits off the side of the bowl), then another 2 minutes. Stir in cheese to cool it down to edible temperature, maybe some diced up lunch meat if I'm feeling up to it, small bit of soy sauce if the extra saltiness is bearable, and enjoy.
BRAT - bananas, rice (plain) apples, toast. If I am not too bad I add eggs to the list, but sometimes protein is not a good choice, depending on how out of wack gut is feeling.
Soup and sourdough toast
I love this too for my bad days. Its such a comfort combo.
Ikr? I had one bad day maybe 4 days ago and now all I want is soup and sourdough toast even after. It’s comforting.
Same here. Soup and crackers.
Avocados work for me every time.
Me too! My go to is avocado on warm tortilla. Hits right every time.
Fruits are always a go to for me. Watermelon and strawberries are almost always tolerable. I can usually tolerate oatmeal pretty well, too.
McDonald's cheeseburger, oddly enough
I believe it, it’s never really “healthy” foods that stay down when we’re sick it seems
Congee (rice cooked with lots of water so that it becomes kind of like a soup), bananas and carots are the only thing I can swallow when I feel nauseous.
Unseasoned popcorn, bleached white breads or pastas (pastina is where it's at!). Basically anything that doesn't have much flavor of its own that I can get down easy. Wash it down with a ginger ale, and I'm ready to drag myself back to bed!
Bone broth, steamed broccoli, and (really good quality) chicken cooked in an instant pot.
I use Zofran and drink a lot of milk on days like that. Rice, like non spicy rice is good.
Bone broths. Bananas I tend to be able to tolerate no matter what. Still trying to figure out other safe foods though.
Mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, toasted bread/bagel/English muffin with butter.
fruit smoothies tbh
Chicken noodle soup & cheddar goldfish crackers are my mvps
Honorable mention: ramen, buttered toast, yogurt
Applesauce and sweet potato fries. If we’re talking unhealthy some toffee is normally safe
Sweet potatoes or russet potatoes always
Plain dry Rice Chex and craisins.
Sticky rice and mild Japanese curry is my ultimate comfort food. If I’m really sick, I will just do the sauce, no veggies. It’s really soothing and non-irritating, but actually tastes good enough to get me to eat if I’m nauseous
Strawberry yogurt and bananas.
Stewed potatoes or fried corn. They're the only things I can eat and keep down on my worst stomach days. Even the thought of eating anything else makes me nauseous during those.
Mashed potatoes and lime water. When I was at my worst, I just didn't want anything.
Saltines, wonton soup, smoothies and weirdly McDonald’s
I can always eat fruit. Sometimes a bowl of watermelon or pineapple when I’m super sick is the only thing I can eat for days.
Grilled cheese with American cheese
The only foods that don’t straight up make me vomit when I have stomach issues during a flare are hard boiled eggs, apple sauce, and bananas.
Chicken and brown rice.
This is my go to any time my stomach cannot tolerate much. I am gluten free now due to all my stomach issues so unfortunately most carbs are out 😭
Mine are mac & cheese (on an okay day) and saltines with peanut butter.
Fruit smoothies (açaí, banana, blueberries or cherries, a splash of GoodBelly and some oat milk), but the safest is McDonalds fries.
Cinnamon applesauce. Can't do it plain, only with cinnamon.
Peanut butter (has to be the right brand), rice krispies with soy milk
