Here you go:

You do need to escape closing parentheses, like this:

Actually Yakut. The -lar/ler suffix has tons of allomorphs. Besides -lar and -ler, there's also -lor and -lör. Voiceless obstruents like /t/ and /s/ result in -tar, like *mastar* "trees". Nasal cause -nar/ner/nor/nör like *djonnor* "men". Sonorants like /r/ and /j/ let it be -dar/der/dor/dör. Altough r+l can also result in double *kepseteller* "they are speaking". (I guess this might also apply for final /g/, although idk of any yakut example, so it would be like *wuk* instead and *wuktar*, wuktor is forbidden due to disharmony.)
Wait I'm confused, why exactly wouldn't it work with any of the Qypchaq languages then? Qazaq and Qyrghyz turn -lar/-ler into -dar/-der after voiced obstruents too, just with less vowel variation than Sakha does (i.e. no -lor or -lör forms). Would the issue just be with the restrictions on final voiced velars/uvulars (AFAIK "wug" would actually be something like "wuq" in Qazaq and Qyrghyz)?
but legit i was naive in high school and as an independent research project i replicated aspects of dr jean berko gleason's original wug test and children were super cooperative at all my age ranges but adults who were supposed to give me my baseline "grammatical" answers..... boy do adults truly have to be convinced not to overthink things. i feel like i got half of these unironically. if i had been a smarter researcher as a 17 year old i would have pivoted into a more interesting study of how 4th graders gave more consistent "grammatical" baselines than adults lmao (but that was almost all due to poor variable control with interviewing my participants)
glad i learned those lessons on a meaningless high school research class as opposed to major projects at university lol
LMAO uh oh probably.
i ended up changing my username on tumblr to wuqs with a Q because someone used some cafepress tshirts with wugs on them to copyright claim my url. now no one can use the url "wugs" on tumblr dot com because they're scared of the idea of the threat of the possibility of a random user's legal action, lmaooo
It’s an imaginary word, but it was devised to find out if children could apply morphological rules to made up words. Jean Berko 1958 “ The Child’s Learning of English Morphology”
The syllabary can be learned extremely quickly, so that's a nice start! Cree needs more learning materials, it's honestly very hard to become fluent without community access. There are some radio stations and tv programs if you live in Canada though
I hate that I only have an amateur interest in linguistics and yet this subreddit has somehow taught me all the textbook in-jokes of you lot with your edu-ma-cation
Yeah, normally I wouldn’t be able to but recently reddit seems to have unarchived most posts. before you couldn’t comment on anything over 180 days old, but now in the vast majority of subreddits (except a few for some reason?) you can comment on any no matter how old

Er, your link doesn't work right, you probably have to escape out some characters with backslashes for it to work.
It works perfectly for me. You know you can just search for “Atlantic (semitic) Languages” to easily find the article, don’t you?
I did, but your link is still messed up; it links to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_(Semitic

i mean wuggen is also a valid german plural
One *wug* Two *wugs* Many *wuggi* A dozen *wugen* And if you speak of a *group* of them, you have "a *wag* of *wuggi*" / "a *wag* of *wugen*".

On this note, I always imagined that the past of 'nut' (as in orgasm) should be 'nate'. Ex: I nate into her nostril and she coughed it up, weird kink.

I still love that when I did the wug test while learning Cree, the plural is **wugwak**, pronounced wug-wug.

Cree is a pretty neutral good language to be honest. Complicated syntax, amazingly easy morphology and a beautiful simple phonology
I like their syllabary. Would learn if i had the chance
The syllabary can be learned extremely quickly, so that's a nice start! Cree needs more learning materials, it's honestly very hard to become fluent without community access. There are some radio stations and tv programs if you live in Canada though
