the kick inside or hounds of love

Shotgoth

If I had an award to give, I’d give it to you. Although I do say it would be wrong to not include The Dreaming to complete the Trifecta. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of Kate’s records as much as the last and every last one of them is uniquely eccentric and special in Kate’s own little ways; but people SHOULD NOT be sleeping on The Dreaming

Mitchfynde

Same. I love both of them so much. They're everything.

tackycarygrant

Aerial

thedrawerking

Fuck yes

mkcfc

Easy, "The Sensual World" , perfection.

mattekudasein

absolutely, the perfect pop record

Top_Elephant_5538

All of them. Can I just say that I LOVE the Babooshka single cover, probably my favourite of them all

Linsel

The Sensual World. It's the complete package, without a sour note throughout.

kreiosvasu

Hounds of Love; it really is, as people say, the pinnacle of her career. It’s the culmination of all her past work, experimentation, and pop-leaning tendencies and the start of a new, and for lack of a better term, more mature chapter in her career. If I had to take only one album, this would be it.

pianoAmy

This is the correct answer.

Shelly_pop_72

There is no correct answer!

Lost-Culture-103

The Dreaming

duncweb

The Kick Inside for me. Dad loved it when I was growing up so it’ll always remind me of him. He said his mates used to laugh at him for listening to her when it came out but he he always loved her

dnugs_

Aerial

Never_be_mine1989

Aerial

griffithitsmecathy

The Dreaming and The Kick Inside.

boldsprite

The Dreaming is her most essential album for me.

KingdomOfEpica

The Dreaming

ghiste

The Dreaming. Obviously.

Wut23456

The Kick inside probably, but she’s one of two only artists who have four 10/10 albums for me

Feeloppo

The other ones being? I'm guessing Hounds of Love, The Dreaming and Never For Ever. And who's the other artist?

Wut23456

Aerial, hounds of love and the dreaming. The other artist is ween, I actually think they have 5. The Pod, Chocolate and Cheese, The Mollusk, White Pepper and Quebec are all nearly flawless imo

Feeloppo

Thank you, I'll check them out.

Wut23456

Start with any of them except The Pod. “Acquired taste” is underselling that album for sure. Quebec is probably the ideal starting point

neverenoughflowers

The Dreaming!! It took me the longest to get into but it’s my absolute favorite album of Kate’s. It’s batshit crazy and insane and I’m here for it! Plus, I’ve yet to find anything else ever that sounds like it (a close one is the Peter Gabriel album Security which came out very close to TD and also sounds good when played back-to-back with TD).

SonOfSquank

Once read a quote about The Dreaming. Went something like this... "The Dreaming is not an easy album to get but once you do Turn It Up!" Truer words never spoken.

neverenoughflowers

Hell yeah! I can't ever NOT play it loud! :)

Seachica

Her next one. I need another KaTe album!

ianbat

never for ever, it's her magnum opus in my opinion

qhoussan

If i had to pick just one then maybe The Dreaming. Seconds are never for ever, aerial and houds of love.

United_Dragonfruit18

Ughh I can’t chose between my top 4 - The Dreaming,Hounds of Love, The Sensual World and Aerial. If I had to probably Aerial :)

Isak___Dahl

Honestly every single one. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE! But if I had to choose, 50 Words For Snow!

ReactsWithWords

All of them. But if someone tells me they only own one Kate Bush album, I'm going to assume it's Hounds of Love. If that's wrong, my second guess would be The Whole Story.

Glassic_Glam_Gars

Repping fans of Aerial!

Whitefryar700

Aerial

That_Beach6618

Aerial. After many years I have not been able to focus on properly listening to most of her other albums individually (I know, shame on me) because I always turn back to Aerial. Aerial is the place I always want to be in.

Lonely-Enthusiasm-79

Hounds of Love by a significant margin.

StrangeRooster8173

If I have to choose, HoL on vinyl

Horrorwriterme

Hounds of love and red shoes a close second

Awesomekip

Before the Dawn! It encapsulates Kate Bush perfectly. Now if they would only release the footage like they said they would...

llecoope

The Dreaming, with Never for Ever and Hounds of Love tied in second. I alwaaays have Army Dreamers queued and ready to go despite what Kate vibe I’m following that day.

jmacatak66

Hounds of Love is the answer and I can never change from that.

Both_Hyena_1906

I listen to The Sensual World most but Aerial is my fave

FutureDiscoPop

It really is Hounds of Love. It has been my all time favorite album for much of my life and is such a part of me. That said, it would be followed by The Dreaming or The Red Shoes. Aerial would also be close. Ideally it would be all of them though.

Shelly_pop_72

Hounds of love!

Quintaros

I like some songs from every album but The Dreaming is probably my favourite as a whole.

Musikwala

The Sensual World.

Daftapunka_2021

Has to the dreaming followed closely by hounds of love.

Fagonetta

Hounds of Love. Red Shoes not far behind.

MeditativeMindz

Must have imo The Kick Inside Never For Ever The Dreaming Hounds of Love The Sensual World Aerial 50 Words for Snow Before The Dawn Lionheart and The Red Shoes have some great highlights: Wow, Symphony in Blue, Moments of Pleasure, Kashka In Baghdad, but the overall albums are arguably the weakest kf her catalogue. Directors Cut or The Whole Story don't count as 'albums' to me. Directors Cut is unlistenable for me, literally all of the original versions of the songs sound so much better.

Swing_No_Fool

Hounds of love or the red shoes

Jorrrd777

‘Hounds of Love’ is her magnum opus, and the most undeniably brilliant album. However, for me, ‘Sensual World’ and ‘50 Words for Snow’ are my personal favourites. SW really is the most spiritual experience I’ve had of music. I can’t express how, when I’m in the right mood, its such an exciting, heart wrenching and… sensual experience. 50 Words is to me, when I feel perhaps the most connected to whatever Kate Bush is trying to give out in her music, it feels so tender and personal.
