I just wouldn't refer him

xcielciel

Second this. If you have to think this much about a referral just find someone else

racoongirl0

Kinda already promised him I would which is why I feel bad.

xcielciel

Ah I get you. Yeah I would ask him to change it. He can probably write something like “implemented a new design…” This wouldn’t take away from the fact that you created it but it still acknowledges his role in the project

So talk to him about how his resume makes yours look like yours was false. Send him your resume and ask him to update, make changes so his compliments yours and vice versa. No one cares that his didn't work and yours did really. You worked together, and accomplished a goal. He should be able to change it to compliment yours and get him the job

disasterdame66

Just say it didn't work out or something-- just because you refer someone doesn't mean the company will follow through. But also if you already have the job, they're not going to look back at your resume and compare it to his.

Transparent2020

Do NOT refer him.
