Yes, people have but it could be placebo effect. Some have said that I look way better but couldnt really tell me what changed until I told them I had jaw surgery.
What? Lol it’s so obvious how could they not notice? But yes the more projection the more authority you ooze. It’s such a weird thing. You look great man!
Lol no but if you have literally no jawline and chin and one day you walk in with a jawline and chin then ppl should notice I think. Maybe plastic surgery isn’t that much part of the society in the NL but here in the US ppl would have wondered if you had work done.
It's not that known in the netherlands. It's more of a medical surgery that it is cosmetic. Thats also the reason most insurance companies cover the surgery here, the only hard part is getting them to accept that it's indeed for a medical reason.
In my experience, most people are unable to designate the specific traits regarding facial aesthetics/harmony apart from the nose. Even if u have ultra recessed jaw they are unable to see that but will rather say that the nose is too big, because in relation it actually does look big. But they won't recognize the causality which alters the harmony
This is very true, people have always said that my nose is super large. But after I had the surgery nobody says that anymore while in reality it was my chin that made my nose look that big because it was so out of proportion
Agreed, most people don't have an eye for detail or devote a lot of time to studying facial features and measurements. You're either attractive or unattractive to them but they couldn't really say why beyond "you have nice eyes".

Update post after the first surgery:
https://www.reddit.com/r/jawsurgery/comments/11wrvx6/update\_45\_weeks\_after\_djs\_genio/
After my first surgery around week 6 they told me I had to have another LJS to adjust the plates. I had too much space between my teeth. My temporomandibular joint had shifted too much after the surgery (It had around 7mm space between the joints and after the surgery it only had 1-2mm) so the plates were positioned wrong. (I have CT pictures between the first surgery and second if people are interested)
The second surgery was only to re-adjust the plates and add extra. So it wasn't nearly as painfull/swollen as the first surgery thank god. But again I wasnt allowed to eat anything solid for another 6 weeks. Now I can finally eat solid foods again after 12 weeks total (nothing hard like apples ofcourse) and go to the gym. (Lost 30 pounds.. in 12 weeks) so it has been quite the journey for me.
But even after all this I would 100% do it again. I am very happy with the results and breathing has been way easier. My teeth their placement also feel alot better.
Looks great. I hope the functional benefits have been a good too. If you don't mind, could you please share where you had the procedure done, the name of the doctor/s involved and how much it cost?
Yeah, no more mouth breathing haha. Sure, I had the procedure done in MCL Leeuwarden. I live in the netherlands, so not sure if it helps. The name of the doctor is A.C van Leeuwen and my insurance covered everything.
I was scrolling through like ‘ya okay, let’s see what the before was li…HOLY SHIT’
Amazing improvements OP, you must be happy as heck. I have a similar profile to you and I’m set for DJS + genio later this year.
It’s amazing how much more balanced your side profile looks and your nose suits you a lot, congrats!
Thank you! Yeah, very happy with the results! At first it was pretty scary because it doesnt feel like "you" yet if you know what I mean but this goes away over time.
While the results are decent, everyone should be aware of the different camera angles and the difference in his head position in the before and afters.
Guess what models do? The same thing. They move their heads so that their jaws pop. Not a bad thing. He has a jaw now he can do it with. Before he didn’t. So what’s the point?
Yes the models will do that for a photoshoot occasionally but their normal and catwalk posture is perfectly straight because nose breathing is at maximum efficiency in that position leading to the best jaw development.
You'll often see mouth breathers having a head forward neck posture because they're literally gulping for air and the neck/face don't have correct support.
OP you have great bone structure now but to maximise it and prevent regression I'd highly recommend strengthening/stretching your neck/face and improving your posture in general. Having too tight masseter, suboccipital and submental muscles will pull your jaw backwards. I agree with the above comment, your gaze still looks too high. I know it will feel like you're double chinning at first but once you stretch out those muscles a bit the jaw will come forward and the neck will tuck up. I personally gained about 2cm of jaw to neck protrusion in neutral posture post surgery doing the above exercises.
Check out some of my comments in this sub I go into more details about my routine. Go HARD on mewing, posture, nose breathing and gym for 6 months and your life will change.
Second surgery wasnt nearly as bad as the first tho.. so the swelling dropped way faster aswell. When I had the first surgery it took around week 2-3 for the swelling to drop, so dont worry.
Your before reminds me of me. I haven’t had surgery yet and been told I need TJR. I’ll find out more soon. But I hope I have good results like you! I really just want to be able to eat like a normal person again more then anything else. Did you have trouble eating at all before you had surgery?
Oh ok. I struggle with eating and also sleep with my mouth open. Before my jaw looked like that I was completely normal. Did you always have a jaw like that or was it something that happened later in life? Lately I have suspected that the dental issues I’m having are from sleeping with my mouth open, so I’ve been duct taping my mouth shut at night. It’s getting old.
After the first surgery it took awhile, probally 3-4 weeks. After the second surgery it only took a few days. The first surgery took 7 hours so thats probally the reason why.
Life changing. One of the best results ever. Have you noticed differences in how people treat you? Opposite gender reactions?
Yes, people have but it could be placebo effect. Some have said that I look way better but couldnt really tell me what changed until I told them I had jaw surgery.
What? Lol it’s so obvious how could they not notice? But yes the more projection the more authority you ooze. It’s such a weird thing. You look great man!
Idk I feel like ppl don't expect you to just rearrange your facial bones from the last time they saw you

youd be surprised at the amount of people with no sense of observation lol

Good to know. I was about to ask you if you had a nose job. Incredible results.
Because they shifted my maxilla my nose kind of straightened out so it does like I had a nose job but I didn't. You dont hear me complaining tho haha

Hope long were you in braces before the procedures? Are you still wearing braces now?
I am still in braces yes, they will be removed in about a month. I have been in braces for 3.5 years now, would be way shorter if corona didnt happen.
My jaw dropped when I saw the before. Such a huge improvement!!

Looking good. Do you know what your movements were?
I keep forgetting to ask, so not sure...

Great results, you look handsome 😍
you are cheating by lifting your head up and cap try taking a picture with the same head position as the before nice results

Yeah, you're right... my posture has always been meh. My posture is slowly becoming better with time, surgery has helped me alot but gym does also.

Maybe in the first two unintentionally yeah, but not in the other pictures.
How y'all look so good after just one week. Personally I still look like a balloon! Your results are crazy too super good
It’s not one week. It’s 3 months.
I meant the first pic. That side profile just 1 week post op is crazy

I did not have trouble eating before the surgery. I was however a mouthbreather and had trouble sleeping because of the recessed chin.

The DJS and Genioplasty did you well. Congrats on the results!
when would you say cheek swelling went down

WTF BRO? Awesome!
My profile is very similar to yours (it's posted on my page), what were your movements? What operation(s) did you undergo?
