"gently" "but if they change their ways do not be unjust to them" I think these are two very important parts that anti-islam kuffar and a few Muslims overlook.

JabalAnNur

And just for anybody reading, "gently" is not part of the verse itself however when we look at the explanation of the verse, yes it is indeed gentle. As light as a hit from a miswak

MukLegion

Yes, more detail on the Hadith and an explanation by Mufti Menk can be found below for anyone curious. > If a woman rebels against her husband and disobeys his commands, then he should follow this method of admonishing her, forsaking her in bed and hitting her. Hitting is subject to the condition that it should not be harsh or cause injury. Al-Hasan al-Basri said: this means that it should not cause pain. >‘Ata’ said: I said to Ibn ‘Abbaas, what is the kind of hitting that is not harsh? He said, Hitting with a siwaak and the like. [A siwaak is a small stick or twig used for cleaning the teeth - Translator] https://islamqa.info/en/answers/41199/hitting-ones-wife Below is Mufti Menk explaining that anyone who thinks it's ok to beat their wife is wrong. https://youtu.be/eEn_BddNHu0

ThanosMyBananos

Yes ofc jazakallah

[deleted]

>I think these are two very important parts that anti-islam kuffar and a few Muslims overlook. Tbf, they would not even accept that.

End_zionism

No problem for me, I don't accept them.

ThanosMyBananos

Lol ur probably right but for those who outright say in Islam you have the right to beat up your wife, or hit her face ect

Impossible_Wall5798

Listen to lectures by Nouman Ali Khan on these verses. He did a series on it explaining it for hours.

BrowntownManiac

Nouman Ali Khan is not a mufassiroon nor fuqaha. He can't give rulings on this matter.

ostalot

What translation is this?

JabalAnNur

Dr. Mustafa Khattab one.

Is_name_neccessary

Someone mentioned these verses in his youtube comment, I took a screenshot. I don't know what translation this is, but seems accurate to me.

Why should women be disciplined ?

[deleted]

Men take care of their wives, provide for her, protect her to the point Islamically he *must* put his life in danger if it means protecting her against a threat. For the woman to then refuse to do her end of the deal that is marriage is a great betrayal. But even then, the discipline is literally tapping her with a small stick the size of your finger.

nine_zero_two

Why should it be that way ? I mean, women can live without men, and so, without marriage. If it's a choice, a single woman an totally be happy by herself. Same thing for men. Why is there this thing for marriage and to be protected ? What if the situation was reversed ? Men should crawl under women ? That doesn't make sense. In my opinion, I think both sides should have the same duties to their partners. Men and women should protect themselves together and marriage should be a choice (with an acceptable no, without any punition). And physical pain, whether it is light as a feather or not, shouldn't been applied. Talking and convincing the other with words should be enough. If it isn't, then the other isn't ready to change. So physical pain would be to break the other. A couple of two should be a One. With consent of both partners.

>Why should it be that way ? I mean, women can live without men, and so, without marriage. If it's a choice, a single woman an totally be happy by herself. Same thing for men. Why is there this thing for marriage and to be protected ? Why does marriage exist? Because it's how god intended for it to be when two people wanted to procreate and start a family. Sexual relations are otherwise forbidden And the man is the stronger sex and has the best chance of protecting and providing for the woman. This is the reality that liberals in the west dont want to accept but men and women are not the same! >What if the situation was reversed ? Men should crawl under women ? That doesn't make sense. Who said anything about crawling? >In my opinion, I think both sides should have the same duties to their partners. Men and women should protect themselves together and marriage should be a choice (with an acceptable no, without any punition). No one said marriage is a must... But if you do get married you have obligations toward eachother. >And physical pain, whether it is light as a feather or not, shouldn't been applied. Talking and convincing the other with words should be enough. If it isn't, then the other isn't ready to change. So physical pain would be to break the other. > >A couple of two should be a One. >With consent of both partners. It's not meant to cause pain but to show displeasure.

nine_zero_two

>Why does marriage exist? Because it's how god intended for it to be when two people wanted to procreate and start a family. So do you think two people who don't believe in God shouldn't marry each other ? Without God, people could have invented marriage to make the other a "possession" or make it official. >Sexual relations are otherwise forbidden Why ? Do you have an applicable argument who would be in favor of no sex ? >And the man is the stronger sex and has the best chance of protecting and providing for the woman. Not any men are stronger (physically) than women, and the latter can be stronger (intellectually). >This is the reality that liberals in the west dont want to accept but men and women are not the same! I agree that men and women are not physically equal, but they can be on other subjects. >It's not meant to cause pain but to show displeasure Can't it be found any other way ?

[deleted]

>>Why does marriage exist? Because it's how god intended for it to be when two people wanted to procreate and start a family. > >So do you think two people who don't believe in God shouldn't marry each other ? >Without God, people could have invented marriage to make the other a "possession" or make it official. Atheists dont even get married anyways. >>Sexual relations are otherwise forbidden > >Why ? Do you have an applicable argument who would be in favor of no sex ? What? I'm arguing from an Islamic perspective and yes there are many benefits to abstaining from sex until marriage. It becomes a special thing you share with your spouse when it's time and it also stops the spread of STDs amongst communities. >>And the man is the stronger sex and has the best chance of protecting and providing for the woman. > >Not any men are stronger (physically) than women, and the latter can be stronger (intellectually). On average, a man is going to be vastly stronger than any random given woman. There are scientific studies where top athlete women struggle against your average untrained joe. You just can't compare having **10-100x** more testosterone in your blood to not having that. Testosterone is the hormone that promotes strength. Men and women differ biologically mainly because men produce **10 to 20** times as much testosterone as most women do, and this chemical, no one seriously disputes, profoundly affects physique, behavior, mood and self-understanding. https://www.google.com/search?q=men+have+10x+More+testosterone+than+women&oq=men+have+10x+mo&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j69i59.4659j0j4&client=ms-android-motorola-rvo3&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8&chrome_dse_attribution=1 >>This is the reality that liberals in the west dont want to accept but men and women are not the same! > >I agree that men and women are not physically equal, but they can be on other subjects. Sure. They can be equals in intellect for example. But that's not really the argument. >>It's not meant to cause pain but to show displeasure > >Can't it be found any other way ? It's a last resort so yes.

nine_zero_two

Ok your made your point ! I do not totally agree but it has benefits :)

sekips

He is pretty much an idiot that hate the country he live in, he doesnt know shit about atheism or atheists it appears.

sekips

Alot of atheists get married. But ignore that I guess? You live in a country with the most atheists in the world...

BasketOk3312

No, what liberals in the west want to do is give women the same rights as men.

[deleted]

The liberal feminist movement is more than just equal rights (which women in the west already have) it's essentially just a movement to treat women like they are just weird looking men, ie with the thing about gender quotas in companies and the military and the propaganda that a woman can do *anything* a man can which is not true.

ComicNeueIsReal

It started out as equal opportunities. For example the disparity in the workforce. Most people in high paid jobs are white men. Women are more.often then not paid less then their male coworkers in the same role. That's what the feminist movement started as and it still has people who follow it like that, but of course the goal of today's feminist movement is shifting, like all things.

sekips

Imagine thinking god exists. And not realizing that religion is just a control tool... Smooth brained people need something to believe in I guess?

[deleted]

Imagine being so triggered you go through someone's account to respond to week old comments.

sekips

Imagine hating the west, NATO and atheists but live in the west in a NATO friendly country with the most atheists in the world. Why is the question, why live in the western world if you hate it so much.

[deleted]

You dont have to like your reality.

sekips

You can change it so you dont hate it. But you clearly dont want that. You want to live in a NATO friendly country that more than likely supported the bombing of your supposed "home country".

[deleted]

>You can change it so you dont hate it. No i cant because a) there was never a vote on NATO membership and b) being a minority you dont have a chance to get anything in a democracy. So no i literally can't.

Forrale

Allah told us to do it that way and if we fail, then we will pay for it in the next life. Allah also made us in pair, male and female, so that we found confort and peace with each other, and so that we each cover our flaw and help the other one with our strength. I’m assuming that you’re a non-muslim, respectfully, i understand to you marriage could be something worthless but to us, an Islamic marriage is equivalent to 50% of our faith. There’s a lot good content about Islamic marriage that you can look up online. Inshallah, I hope this will help some misconception you have with Islam. May Allah guide us All.
