Polyphia. I already am annoyed with the direction instrumental rock/metal is going but its just so "tiktok/instagram reel"-core where they have to throw in truckloads of flashy little flourishes in every 15 seconds in an attempt to keep you interested but throughout the course of a full song its exhausting. It really sounds like a student learning improv who thinks doing as much as possible is the best idea musically.

knightofhanoi829

Same honestly, it’s just really really lame

Golladayholliday

Never tried to get into AC/DC but they did teach me how to “ban” an artist from playing on shuffle on every streaming platform so I thank them for that.

Vaz_Nussis

Avenged sevenfold. No matter how hard I’ve tried to enjoy at least one of their songs, I can’t get over how bad the production is and how their titles and lyrics make me cringe. It’s hard to explain but they just sound horrible

Nascar24-48Fan

the only time I heard Avenged Sevenfold was when Mike Portnoy joined but gave up quickly

troyofyort

Did you try the stage? Its insane how different and better than rest of their records

Luka203

Not a particular band on my mind right now. But I don't like when some bands just throw a ton of solos in a song, but leave the actual song barebones in the process. I'd take a song without a solo if I get an amazing bridge section instead, or multiple of those. Now something more subjective. Vocals are a big factor for me in deciding if I will continue to listen to a band. I don't like the whiney metalcore vocals for example, it just creates bad images in my head and I can't give the songs a fair shot sometimes. Maiden just tick all the right boxes for me, there are other bands that do too. They know how to make captivating songs.

Over_Page6536

Led zeppelin,I never really liked their songs Slayer,I just don't like them like the other 3 of the big 4

jarjar-binks-ismydad

Same with me for the big 4. I love Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, but besides some songs Slayer just doesn’t really do it for me comparing it to the others.

Hank_Chinaski7

Kiss

sweetpapisanchez

So many, but nu metal in particular really sticks in my craw. Slipknot, Korn, Papa Roach, P.O.D., Linkin Park...I just think it's wankerish angst.

dod6666

I agree. I think Limp Bizkit was the worst of it. Possibly the worst band to ever exist IMO. That said I often see Tool lumped in with that lot, and they shouldn't be. Tool are actually very good.

ParanoidEngi

A fair few: Any of the Big Four of thrash. Metallica and Slayer in particular I banged my head against for a while trying to get into them but I can't do it, Hetfield's voice is unlistenable for me. The others I just don't like the sound of thrash, unless it's mixed with another genre like black metal Most hair metal, glam metal or power metal bands are too high pitched and have a naff tone to them, which is funny because a lot of them are considered the descendents or contemporaries of Maiden's sound AC/DC never did anything for me because their songs really do sound the same, and hey if their fans are into it fair enough but it leaves me completely cold Kiss is also quite a boring band

PatZeb

Between the Buried and Me... I can recognize the quality, but it just doesn't click with me.

troyofyort

I just recently went through there stuff and liked it a lot but i get it. I still dont get why they have the amount of glorification they get.

QuickJasper

Queen

therealmaz

The Rolling Stones

tarbasd

??? I love the Rolling Stones.

warensembler

Anthrax. I've tried many times, I've never succeeded. Dunno why, they are ok, I just can't get into it.

XxLockdownZxX

I'm a big Anthrax fan myself but I get what you mean. They have some killer songs and albums but a **LOT** of their material is filler or just not that great. There's quite a few Anthrax albums (even with Joey) that I just ignore because they're boring (to me at least) Though I could definitely recommend the John Bush albums. They're massively overlooked but I think they're really great. Especially "We've Come For You All".

Crusty_Loafer

Five Finger Death Punch. Theres no way that isnt satire. Def Leppard. Talented musicians who sold out with poppy garbage. Motley Crue. Some of the worst vocals Ive ever heard in my life.

Sven_Hassel

I don't like Def Leppard musically, but they are were so supportive of their drummer that makes me respect them at least.

Crusty_Loafer

Of course. They dont seem like bad people. I just dont think their music is all that great. Sadly, I think they are capable of writing really cool stuff, but I also think they would have lost a lot of fans along the way if they started to get too experimental.

Fit-Meal4943

Limp Bizkit. They suck. Their level of suckocity exceeds the gravitational pull of a black hole. Everything that wanders into their vicinity gets crushed by the sheer suckitude that is Limp Bizkit. Given the choice between Limp Bizkit and a short, sharp blow to the testicles delivered by an industrial press…I would miss my testicles.

dod6666

This should be the top answer. They are an abomination. Their fan base likely consists of 8 year olds who are upset because mummy told them not to say "fuck".

[deleted]

Slayer, Slipknot, Disturbed, Nine Inch Nails.

XxLockdownZxX

For me (responding to my own post) I have a few: **Exodus** \- Very good and tight guitar work in the songs but the vocals. Oh the vocals. In a word: **Awful**. It's like Brian Johnson from AC/DC became a chain smoker and raped his entire throat. I have tried hard to like Exodus and listen to their latest album but can't. The vocals are too bad for me. I like high pitched vocals (Bruce Dickinson, Andi Deris, Michael Kiske and Joey Belladonna for example) but Exodus's singer sounds like a cat getting dragged across a chalkboard. **Iced Earth** \- Extremely cool album covers, the guitar work is okay but the songs don't manage to touch me like Iron Maiden's for example. They feel very empty, emotionless and boring to me. As much as I would like to like this band I just can't. Don't care about the guitarist's political views (as I understand that put a lot of people off, I'm not American so I have no clue...) **Slayer** \- Sorry Slayer fans, but I don't like Slayer. All the songs sound the same. I like consistency within a band and their albums (I mean, Maiden hasn't changed their style that much over the years either, but nothing sounds the same) but with Slayer every song sounds exactly the same to me. The same tone and aggression behind every song and there is not 1 song that I can distinguish from the other (except Raining Blood maybe). I picked up the "Big 4" blu-ray a few weeks ago and literally watched 10 minutes of the Slayer show before turning it off. Can't stand them. **A few notable bands I never could get into either**: Annihilator, Motörhead, Arch Enemy, In Flames, Sodom, Def Leppard, Ghost, Gojira, Korn, KISS, Dream Theater, Hammerfall, Blind Guardian, Epica, Lamb of God.

Crusty_Loafer

I agree with most of that except for Motorhead. Idk what it is about them, but I just really like jammin out to them from time to time.

TheKenzerine

I have the same thing with slayer. Ive tried so hard but I dont really feel it. Only songs I do really enjoy are South of Heaven and Repentless

XxLockdownZxX

For me it's Repentless (and the intro, which is a seperate song) and Raining Blood. Those are the only songs I "kinda" like.

QuickJasper

Agree with Slayer - I will never understand the hype around that band. Without a doubt the weakest link of the big 4. One song from them is enough for me.

sgtrobo

without a doubt their first 5 albums + Live Undead and Haunting the Chapel is the greatest run of albums in thrash metal history But...I'm a big thrash metal fan and have been a Slayer fan since about 1983 so I get others not liking them. :)

Ordinary_Wasabi_8836

Spot on with the Slayer analysis. They suck.

SkipEyechild

DragonForce. They are shite.

UnknownSuperChamp

Metallica

Nascar24-48Fan

why? I'm not trying to start a fight, just want to know your points

Ordinary_Wasabi_8836

I'm sorry to hear that. It must suck to lack the sense of taste.

UnknownSuperChamp

In my defence, I’ve hated them since they put out the first record. Probably before you were born.

SeventhSon22

You sound like me in tenth grade.

Ordinary_Wasabi_8836

You sound like me when I'll be senile

SeventhSon22

[Copy and paste my other comment here]

Ordinary_Wasabi_8836

Username subtitle definitely checks out

SeventhSon22

Accident of Birth is better than any Metallica album by a country mile.

dod6666

Yeah, I like (old) Metallica. But there is absolutely no way to argue that any of it is better than Accident of Birth.

Ordinary_Wasabi_8836

That is straight up comedy. Thanks.

SeventhSon22

Almost as funny as Metallicas discography! You're welcome.

Bear_T

Rammstein and Slayer

TheChocolateMelted

>Rammstein and Slayer Have you seen Rammstein live? It's quite an experience. :-)

TotallyFarcicalCall

Queens of the Stoneage

PresentationLumpy209

Ozzy Osborne/Black Sabbath.

Crusty_Loafer

Please explain.

Cold-Acanthaceae-860

Ozzy has a bad voice

Nascar24-48Fan

but what about Dio?

BeefKnees_

Kiss and AC/DC.. I fucking hate those bands

samuelloomis

Thunder there was a fantastic buzz around the band but I just couldn't enjoy them

UnknownSuperChamp

Ha

IRON6MAI6DEN6

Anthrax, Megadeth and Killswitch Engage

Proper-Cobbler-1068

Pink Floyd. I cringe everytime I hear them. Dream Theater. To me it's just real boring. Queensryche. See Dream Theater.

Cold-Acanthaceae-860

What dream theater songs have you listened to, and what queensrÿche songs have you heard

Proper-Cobbler-1068

With Queensyrche, I've pretty much heard it all. I love the deput EP (Queen of the Reich...hell yeah), but after that not so much. I must admit with Dream Theater I kind of stopped even trying to care after "Falling Into Infinity"...did they get better?

Nascar24-48Fan

I reccomend Metropolis PT2: Scenes From a Memory

Cold-Acanthaceae-860

I recommend train of thought

Cold-Acanthaceae-860

Try some of dream theater’s instrumentals

Nascar24-48Fan

Dream Theater sometimes can be boring AF, when I started listen I thought the same

RandomListener134

I tried listening to many bands and I think at least 30-40% of them I didn't like at all.

[deleted]

Motley Crue and Poison. Everybody else seems to like them so more power to them.

JustCapreseSalad

Powerwolf. I actually quite enjoy Sabaton, which is strange considering people say the two are bread and butter, but no matter how hard I tried, Powerwolf just never ever stuck with me. I don't particular like any of their songs. Maybe don't mind a few at best.

Nascar24-48Fan

there are some bandas that I admire the work but I'm not a big fan, like Slipknot, Guns N' Roses, SOAD. But those news "Metal" bands are kinda lame. I don't have a specific name right now, I'm just venting lol

Sven_Hassel

Tried hard but no cigar: 1.Dream Theater: Boring pretentious music with zero personality and a vanilla singer. And I say this being a fan of some prog bands. 2.Animals as Leaders: Sounds like a never ending series of cacophonic guitar technical exercises. They seem to be cool guys though. 3.Gojira: Don't like the vocals. No hooks, no choirs, and too repetitive. I kinda like Amazonia, even if it is a Sepultura-light song.

DestroyerofworldsY

I personally can't stand to listen to most Queen songs (especially Bohemian Rhapsody) most of them just sound like garbled messes with no rhyme or reason to the beat or lyrics. Bohemian Rhapsody especially just sounds like they had a bunch of ideas for songs and then combined them into one long song because they couldn't figure out how to extend those songs

AlBundyIsMyHero666

Judas Priest and Metallica

Nascar24-48Fan

why? I'm not trying to start a fight, just want to know

SeventhSon22

- Really any Hair or Glam band. - Pantera - Testament - Gojira - Metallica (at least not anymore)

Vaz_Nussis

I’d say you should ease into pantera, at first I could only listen to like 5 of their tracks but after a while I eased into their discography and they are unreal

Crusty_Loafer

I hear you. Pantera is harsh sounding, but thats the idea. I can only listen to them for a few songs in a row, but damn they were great.

Edgar_Beethoven

For all I've tried to get into Metallica, I just can't. Don't buy the hype around them at all. I like a few of their songs: Fade to Black, Nothing Else Matters, For Whom... and their cover of Turn the Page is one of my favourite covers ever. I admit I much prefer clean to growled vocals, but to me their lyrics are terrible and their sound isn't my cup of tea. I love their look and the name is one of the best metal band names ever. But just not a fan of their music.
