"I'm just going out for a cigarette."
I was at a hospital with my dad during hurricane Katrina and we had to go to the parking garage to smoke, it was pretty much like this.
I volunteered at a shelter during hurricane Charlie and a guy got in a fight with the cop that was with us because he couldn't smoke. It was an elementary school campus so he would have to go all the way off of the campus. She told him if he left we would have to lock the doors and he couldn't come back. I remember seeing him walk away with debris whipping all around him.
Yeah, I know a lot of people will disagree with me here, but I think that in these kinds of situations, sticking hard and fast to the rules can make things much much worse. Sometimes you have to make a judgement call about what's going to cause the most problems, and sometimes denying people an outlet for their anxieties will lead to some pretty scary behaviors.
I’m not a scientist or anything, but I imagine most people that smoke nowadays only continue to do it because it’s their main outlet for anxiety. It’s a coping mechanism, a comfort thing, borderline self-medicating. Pretty dangerous to cut someone off of that in a dire situation.
You're absolutely right. At least for me anyways. I take medication for extreme anxiety and it only helps so much. I quit smoking with the help of vaping about 4 months ago after 20+ years of smoking. I think about smoking all the time because of my anxiety. The ritual of it is also a huge part of my addiction. It was easy transitioning from cigarettes to vaping. I know it's going to be extremely hard to go from vaping to nothing at all, which is ultimately my goal.
Absolutely right, I'm a non smoker, it makes me feel sick, but I'd have found a little corner or position up high he could sit and have a smoke.
That's actually how my old teacher quit smoking. He was in the military and working at the Pentagon. He wandered out during a winter storm to smoke, decided fuck that, then quit
My mom did the same thing. Was up in Columbus Ohio for a work thing. Went outside to have a cigarette and realized how stupid it was to have to bundle up and deal with the cold for a cigarette in the peak of winter.
Thank god masturbation is free.
It's absolutely not. If you masturbate you're getting rid of precious seed and ridding your body of protein that you could otherwise use to make muscle. That's why when I masturbate I shoot straight into my mouth. Reduce, reuse, recycle.
Terrible day to have eyes.
Terrible day to know how to read.
Great day for the illiterate.
What? I cant understand what anybody is saying

It’s rainin’ sideways!
Sounds rough Ollie. Do you have an umbrella?
Where is it?
Inside out, two miles away!
Well can we get you anything else?
Bring me some soup!
You lucky son of a bitch you got the best line
Alright, we’ll get on that.
Inside out three miles away
Can we get you anything?
Bring me some soup.
YOU WANT THIS DOG!?!
No thank you Ollie.
Now back to our Asian correspondent Tricia Takanawa with the news
Diane I'm here at
It's amazing how the brain can read something and automatically put it in the person's voice. Lmao
who’s ‘gonna tell us all about the rain’
Im at the wrong airport!
One day, it started raining, and it didn't quit for four months. We been through every kind of rain there is. Little bitty stinging rain, big ol' fat rain...Rain that flew in sideways…And sometimes rain even seemed to come straight up from underneath. Shoot, it even rained at night."
Maybe you should go back to Greenbough ALABAMA!!
I'm sorry I ruined your Black Panther party.
For Forrest having such a low IQ, he was eloquent.
>Sometimes it would stop raining long enough for the stars to come out... and then it was nice. It was like just before the sun goes to bed down on the bayou. There was always a million sparkles on the water... like that mountain lake. It was so clear, Jenny, it looked like there were two skies one on top of the other. And then in the desert, when the sun comes up, I couldn't tell where heaven stopped and the earth began. It's so beautiful.
Definitely a Hangar, can’t imagine a plane would do great in that.
Definitely a hangar, that's a Delta Techops uniform.
If this is that Delta variant everyone’s talking about, I don’t want any part of it.
Fuckin Delta Triceratops Rona, it's too much man!
I once heard a kids program where they sang a song, the lyrics of which were basically "Why not try saying 'triceratops'?"
Every time I hear the word, that fucking song is stuck in my head all day on repeat. Luckily it doesn't come up that often.
RemindME! 1 week “message this guy triceratops”
Scripted bot to reply “triceratops” every time he comments
This is why you never show reddit your vulnerabilities. . . When will I learn?
Yeah man, it's like how I fucking HATE it when people send me videos of dummy thicc women, it just gets so annoying seeing it all the time, ugh.
Jesus that’s evil. I like it
The tug gave it away for me
I had a ERJ175 get in something similar to this, (may have been weaker) but the fucker jumped all its chocks, did a 180 and the nose went into the mud. Had to borrow a more powerful tug to get it out
I've no idea what you've just said and yet I understand.
A plane they had on the ground ended up in similar weather conditions. The plane jumped over the blocks they were using to hold the wheels in place. They needed a more powerful plane moving tug to get it out of the mud.
Yep, that was my first thought when I saw the door.
Planes sit outside in that all the time… with cement anchors and ratchet straps for ties downs.
Thats last case scenario. Normally they will either "bug out" for the storm or just hangar them
Yep when I was a dispatcher we had a massive snow storm rolling in and it was all hands on deck to stack all three hangers. Not fun but we only had to leave 2 caravans outside an both were chocked on all three, and tails stands...we didn't have anchor points or we would have done that too.
Where were you dispatching from? What are you doing now?
I used to dispatch in the arctic and massive snow storms were part of standard ops.
Edit: im not doubting you. If we had enough space we would stack everything too.
Its actually a regular solution, at least in Canada. The following link is full of insightful information regarding chock jumping and tie down pads and concrete anchors. During winter at some airports its far simpler to forklift anchors into position then it is to dig through layers of ice to find an anchor in the ground. If the winds are in the wrong direction then it can be too dangerous to open a hangar door. If the airport is small or remote enough then theres a good chance there isnt any hangar space available. Even the largest aircraft are susceptible to extreme wind conditions. In the warmer climates you can see a storm coming for days and reasonably predict storm fronts. In other climates where the dew point spread is lower a drop in wind speed will require a new forecast to be issued. In areas with valleys and cliffs unexpected temperature changes will require a new forecast to be issued. Ive seen airports go from 15SM clear forecast change to 1/8 and 100vv in an hour. And ive seen airports report winds at 5 knots on the ground with 52 knots low level windshear and icing at 250 meters. A slight change in direction with that forecast would tear the wings off a plane.

Truth. Come from London, but spent three winters on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. Sometimes you achieve flight.
They may take away our lives, but they'll ^never ^^take ^^^our ^^^^f^r^e^e^e^e^e^e^e
Oh interesting! How is life on a island like this? I've been to the highlands a few times and always wondered how regular life must be
I mean, I complain about the winters, but the years I lived there (90 - 93), all three summers had heatwaves! Miles of golden sand beaches, midnight sunsets, lovely people. 13 years old, jumping off sand dunes and listening to death metal, with sparsely populated school classrooms allowing for superb one to one education. Some of the best years of my life. Stunning scenery
Well, now half of Reddit is going to move there and ruin all of its charm…
Can absolutely confirm.
We almost never get proper storms, something like this would happen maybe once a year in the part i'm from (South).
It's overcast skies we excel at.
Idk we’ve actually had a really unexpected heat wave recently
"Sir, this is a tornado."
"Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Alabama anymore."
Or Alioth, come to feed on variants.
My first thought was the 2050 Roxxcart hurricane apocalypse...
Scrolled way too far to find this
There's a boss fight behind it
Was waiting for either a cow to come tumbling in or some idiot with an umbrella to try running out to his car.
Julia I have to let you go. We've got cows.
I'm just here for the Twister quotes
She did not marry you for your penis.
Okay, she didn't *only* marry you're penis.
Idk why but I LOVE rain. I'd leave that big-ass door open and just stare into the void
Go to Louisiana during hurricane season.
Come to Ireland literally any fucking day of the year.
Spent 6 months in Dublin. Now I know why it's so green.
Oregon, USA used to be rainy like that. Not anymore.
I miss it so much :(
Honestly it's been so dry. We had a freak ice storm *in March* and record high heat last month. Fuckin nuts
They're always after me lucky chickens!
Word prediction went with chickens. I'm leaving it lol.
TIL leprechauns are actually foxes wearing green waistcoats.
In my experience, it’s always raining, but it’s always a soft rain with small drops. Ive spent about 4 months there in total and never had a real downpour.
I agree with you about the soft rain.
I ran a 10k in Clare. In one hour it was foggy, then sunny, then lashing rain, then sunny again, then spitting rain for the finish.
I've never had such a variety.
I'd love to spend a year or so there, but I hear it's ungodly expensive.
Depends where you're comparing it too. Probably pretty similar to the US or the UK
The most expensive part is probably being out of work for a year haha
I used to live in a tropical island with a cyclone season. Yes it's was horrible because houses were destroyed but was it fascinating? HELL YEAH
You would love being in that hanger than. Rain landing on a big metal roof like that sounds so cool.
Been in something similar and it gets so loud you can't hear yourself speak.
Failing to see a downside, here. Too loud to talk means it's too loud for others to try to talk to you.
Missed opportunity to call it /r/aining
And then the wind changes.
This guy tornadoes
When I worked on aircraft in OK that was my worst fear. I already had a F5 go over my head in 2013, but a tornado hitting a hangar bay while you're inside it. That's a thought made of nightmares.
I always wonder how loud it would be if one fell. Anyone who's worked on aircraft know those doors fucking suck ass. They'll work for a week and a motor will burn our or someshit then you have to push it manually. Don't push it too fast or it will jump the stop.
9/10 When you're in the navy, at the end of the day, the most green sailors close the doors. A friend of mine was closing a door at one point, it hit the stop hard enough to tilt the door and a tie down or bolt of some sort fell and landed on the top of his head. He needed a shitload of stitches but ended up suffering from TBI. Good thing he had it documented.
Then it was bright and sunny 5 minutes later and the humidity went up by 1000% to make it feel more miserable.
This guy Alabamas
I want to step into it.
Me too, but I’m 100% sure I’d also be stepping into eternal damnation
Nah, you'd just trigger the bossfight
Californian here. I'd pay to be there. I honestly haven't seen a drop of rain in a few months.
Saw this in Loki. It doesn’t end well.
Don’t worry. We still have a couple of decades
Do we still?
Idk why people are talking about Alioth when you were clearly referring to the apocalyptic event Sylvie was hiding in.
Right down to the location and the size of building.
Confirmed OP works for Roxxcart
Just need Classic Loki to create a distraction.
Hahaha oh classic Loki. He slays me.
I'm going to scream that as soon as I find a job that doesn't make me want to jump off a bridge.
Get Help has changed since I last saw it
#BWAAAAAAM BWUH-BWUH-BWUH BWUUUUM
Score was fucking incredible every goddamn episode. I need Natalie Holt to make more music please
If you look closely you can see Dalinar going to the other feast for his knife 🤣.
Loved that so much
Finally someone with some sense. All of these airsick lowlanders wanting to go out into a highstorn.
Edit: for anyone wondering, these comments are referencing the Stormlight Archive book series. Absolutely fantastic series, best I’ve ever read. There are 4 of 10 (long) books out. Check it out!
My first thought as well! If that's what it would look like, then.... no thank you. Think I'll stay inside.
*Glares at Kaladin*
I'm surprised this comment was so low
Gives you a whole new perspective on how amazing it is that >!Kaladin survived being strung up in a highstorm.!<
Omg reminded me I gotta keep reading that lol
No, I'm Wit. But I understand how easy a mistake that is to make.
Damn... it looks like they inside of a tornado
It feels like that. South Carolina gets these surges once in awhile. I walked from my office to the main hangar to inspect some tools when I was QA for maintenance at Shaw AFB. It started raining like this and the doors were cracked open. I had this 12” wrench making sure the etching was there and heard the loudest god damn noise and saw white. I thought I died, dude. Lightning struck like 50-100 yards away as my dumbass is standing there with a wrench in my hand.
These rain surges are nuts.
“Just nipping to the shop, anyone want anything?”
No problemo. Flavour? Might get soggy btw
## HOLD THE DOOR?
Hold the door, hold the doooar, hold the doooor, hodor, hodor, hodor, hodor.
Man, that was genuinely the best moment in like the entire last three seasons of Game of Thrones. I thought they pulled that section off so well it managed to distract me from how bad the series has gotten.
Door holds you
There's a boss on the other side of that
*”King of the Storm”*
“Nothing will remain once the bell has been tolled”
Imagine pushing your coworker there
Remember that time I got lost for like 6 hours because you pushed me outside in a storm? Lol
*I got hit by lightning? Twice? The guys had to pick me up in a truck? In Mississippi? Really, nothing?*
You got lost? But you live right down the street...
That’s how my grandparents went to school
..barefoot at 4.30 am..
Gulf coast weather for ya.
That isn't a rainstorm, it's the god damn Nothing.
Artaxx! Don't give in to the sadness!

“We’ll Jim, been a long day. Time to clock out and head ho-“
Biblical rainstorm outside
“You know, I could use some overtime! Been wanting to get the wife a nice new necklace for our anniversary!”
This is some serious end of the world type shit.
Looks like I'm about to use the clear skies shout to go talk with partharnax.
Wouldn’t stand there, you might get sucked off.
Sounds like fun
It’s like a part of a video game you can’t go to yet.
It gives the feeling that the building is speeding up in space, then slowing down.
We call this summer in ireland
