cyriax syndrome is often referred to as slipped rib or dislocated rib. it all means the same thing. a floating rib disconnects partially from the cartilage and produces the same feeling as a dislocation
How do you dislocate a rib in the first place????
You can't relocate rib joints because rib joints don't exist. But ribs can shift slighty out of alignment and need a bit of sustained pressure to shift them back into a more ideal alignment, which can be highly unpleasant. But easily done with one of those firm massage foam roll things.
People talking about rib dislocations and/or reductions/relocations are a pet hate of mine, it does just how little they know about their body. You can't
dislocate something that doesn't have any joints! 🤦♀️
I don't know why but doctors in my experience seem to call it dislocating even though it's not really a dislocation. I think it's just easier for them.
I dislocate my brain sometimes.
I’ve never seen anyone so incredibly proud of bathing.
Wait till you run into Amberlynn Reid’s vlogs 😭😭
I mean it could be worse right
Dude, that's nothing. I had to completely reattach my head after my shower this morning, AND I remembered to put a shirt on before I dropped my kids off at school (they get really embarrassed if I forget to put my head or my shirt on when I drop them off and pick them up from school)
Found it! Stop looking! 🙃
"Got ready"? Er... for what? I feel like "ready" usually involves a shirt, but Idk.
A bitch who just did the absolute bare minimum and handled a common everyday discomfort 💪 (for the chronically ill and normies alike)
Lmfao Ash the thoracic surgeon.
(It’s very easy to pop a rib back into place. Just kinda do CPR-style compressions on the effected rib — most usually your floating one. This will ruin Ash’s EDS narrative but it is extremely common 🤣)
Hahahahaha, no you didn’t.
“Relocate”? Interesting dramatic choice of words. It’s like they floated down to her ankle by choice.
What, are uteri the only organs that can go wandering around the abdomin? Don't your ribs spontaneously decide to detach from your sternum and go galavanting around your insides?!
ok ok i’m not a physician but is that even possible?
You know it’s interesting how she posts these photos and descriptions about what happened to her but no actual proof photos.
Just because I take beta blockers in front of the camera, does it really mean I need them?
Casually? Not so much. Especially given the fact that I'm about 99.9% sure that she doesn't have EDS. So much of her behaviour is completely incongruent with that of someone who is genuinely suffering from EDS.
What kind of behaviours??
Rib relocated into witness protection
It is now living in her spine as a vertebrae
I'm more confused about the "got ready" part cuz she's standing there in a bra. What exactly is she ready for? Ready to put on a shirt? Ready to troll for men? Why pants & no shirt?
If this photo is supposed to depict a “relocated” rib it’s going to have to be a no from me 🙅🏼♀️.
Where to? Spain? Sending it to a family who can take better care of it?🤔😂
I think the general consensus here is it looks awkward but it can make your thighs appear slimmer than standing with your feet together.
It won’t be permitted to be posted here as it will be seen as bullying and making a mockery of her.
We are not here to belittle our subjects hence we do not allow any bullying or insults towards them.
Just why... might as well make an sick only fans and post there
There are tons of people with medical stuffs fetishes. They would love her.
Slipping rib syndrome is NOT a rib subluxation or dislocation!!!
There's a lot of confusion over this in the comments. Where the ribs connect to the breast bone is not considered to be a "true joint" so doctors don't consider them capable of dislocating because you have to have a joint to have a dislocation. The ribs DO have joints where they connect to the spine. However, due to the structure of these joints they are incredibly hard to dislocate, even in EDS. Google the anatomy and you'll understand why. In medical literature, not from chiropractors, you'll only ever find rib dislocations documented in cases of significant trauma. Often the rib is also broken, there may be damage to the spine, and the person has experienced significant trauma so there's likely a bunch of other severe injuries. It requires surgery to relocate ribs.
Slipping rib syndrome is real, people with EDS and connective tissue disorders are more prone to it, and oh my goodness can it hurt like crazy. Your nerves between your ribs are incredibly sensitive and don't appericeate it when your ribs play them like a guitar. BUT slipping rib syndrome is NOT a rib dislocating or sublexing. Ribs are also incredibly long curved bones without a lot supporting them compared to that. So they can move a very decent bit without ever coming even part way out of a joint. A rib can be all sorts of screwy, crooked, caught on another rib, tearing off its cartilage, etc. but until it comes out of the joint part way or completely it is still not a subluxation or dislocation.
This is one of my biggest pet peeves in EDS groups. The endless misinformation on slipping rib syndrome and rib dislocations. Unless you were in something like a bad car accident where you suffered serious injuries, you haven't disloacted a rib.
Touche! No one in these EDS groups would ever exaggerate, would they?
Thanks for writing that out
See I had this question because I heard of a PT saying ribs were out without any pain. Didn't seem legit
I have the world's highest respect for physical therapist. But I have noticed a concerning trend of more and more PTs saying things are "out" when they aren't or can't really confirm they are and throwing the terms around kind of like chiropractors do.
Yeah I wonder sometimes if some of the exaggerated language that people use on this sub might be from less than reputable "medical professionals" The same PT that I heard talking about an out rib also pushed a book about colloidal silver being a cure all. Its too easy sometimes to find someone who seems legit but is full of shite
Oh gosh that's terrifying. My favorite one I saw a PT that was realigning someone's hips/si joints and showing how before he did the maneuver the patients legs were different lengths. Then afterwards they were the same! (He was pulling on one leg and pushing the other and hoping no one would notice. 🤦♀️) Such a shame. Then add in chiropractors just making up so much random stuff but people still thinking their legitimate medical providers and it's just a disaster. I've seen so many people in EDS groups going I definitely have EDS because a chiropractor said my joints are coming out all the time. Add in that these people are desperate to have EDS and the validation they think it gives them, they'll blindly believe anyone who says anything that fits that narrative and they lose the ability to question is this person legitimate or just saying things to make money?
Thanks for writing out my thoughts. These types of claims irks me to my core!
Came here to write this info but thank god you already did the heavy lifting. Thank you and continue smashing the misinformation!!
Damn. Yeah if you've dislocated rib you almost definitely have a lot of other serious injuries like you're describing. It's not just some casual sliding thing like they describe. It's take such serious trauma. The dislocated rib is usually just one of the things on the list of things gone wrong by the time you get there.
This is very good information, thank you for taking the time to type this.
^(I already gave away my free award)
Can't even take a day off from munching and fake bullshit on her birthday. Relocated a rib. Sis, this isn't the housing market here. Wtf🤦♀️
Exactly.. she can't even enjoy her birthday and spend time AWAY from social media. Gross 🤮
Don’t ask about her rib, it goes to a different school 🙄
And doesnt have an EHR
Is hEDS a new thing for Ash, or am I just unobservant?
She’s been claiming it for a few months at least. She had that whole shoulder thing a while ago
I forgot about that. 🤦🏼♀️
In this market? The audacity of that rib to relocate.
Must be rich, and I don’t blame it for wanting better Real estate XD
But rib gentrification is getting out of hand...
Where did it relocate to?
Prob Denver for the legal kush
Munchies love rib problems. 🤣
Genuine HEDS patients can get skippy ribs. It’s hard to explain, they move , but don’t dislocate the way they think they do. But this is Ashley just needing to find something new to moan about
I understand that. My point is munchies love the rib talk. They all do it.
Oh yeah sorry. I wonder why lol
Fucking hell mate
It’s our troll 🙄
What? I don’t get it who is this person and what is in the picture that makes the NSFW
It says who she is in the about/rules section.
Ribs cannot dislocate, they can come out slightly, called a Subluxation.
They actually can dislocate! However they can only do so at joints where the connect at the spine. This is extremely rare and I've never found any medical literature of this happening outside of severe trauma, including in connective tissue disorders. It usually is also accompanied by the rib breaking as well. It requires surgery to relocate a rib.
There's a difference between Dislocate(comes out all the way) and Subluxation ( partially out of place)
Yep. Anything though that can sublex can also dislocate technically. Because it means there is a joint for a bone to leave. Even if it's extremely rare and might kill the patient in doing so (such as antlo occipital dislocations that are often fatal and terrifing don't look it up) as long as there is a joint that joint can experience a dislocation because there are bones in a joint that can exit the joint. That's all. Dislocations are. Ribs can fully exit their joint. However again this take great force to do. And usually you have snap the rib in half for it to be able to dislocate. But there is a joint, it can dislocate and come out of that joint. Rib subluxation might actually be more rare than dislocations. Because those joints are so sturdy and it takes just great force to move the born from the joint by the time you've applied that much force its unlikely the rib is stopping at part way out.
I was hoping for this. I couldn’t comprehend.
Why is she always getting ready she doesn’t GO anywhere
To get weed and coffee lol
Well duh! She's gotta go see her docs and get super special treatments/meds! /s
SHE GOES TO STARBUCKS!!
I’m pretty sure Adam was the only one with a rib relocation.
It was Ash’s birthday wish to remind us all that she suffers from EDS, that’s all this is
did she go spelunking to find it? was it chipped?
We do not address subjects directly, it’s seen as indirect contact.
I didn’t address her. The above is excellent life advice anyone reading can take.
Shhhhh…logic doesn’t resonate well with her super duper vicious conditions!!!!
I bet she had a gas bubble that had to be relocated and not at all a rib
It was probably sneaky and didn’t play by the textbook
She advocated like hell and now her team of doctors are floored
Afterward, she prioritized listening to her body and crawled back into bed to rest.
I like to think “advocated” means “farted,” and her doctors were definitely floored because her stomach issues are the worse ever documented in Idaho. Imagine the headline:
*24 Year Old Woman In Idaho Decimates A Group of Doctors With Ferocious Wind*
-One doctor quotes: “It was sneaky. It came on really fast. One minute I was fine, then my nose hairs singed, and then I was on the ground.”
Now that’s some gaslighting
Is she doing the same thing Marilyn Manson did when he relocated his ribs?
You mean “being apart of a myth”, right? /s 😂😂😂
Everyone knows that a casually relocated rib calls for a mirror selfie!!!
ribs just slide out a bit, not dislocate, but when that happens, you just treat symptoms and wait for it to slip back in. i don't think i would trust anyone to pop it back in, the connection is right next to the vertabrae/spinal cord.
Yep it's called slipping rib syndrome and not actually a dislocation.
Oh, great idea!
Got ready for what, her 2 o'clock nap?
God forbid she misses her daily nap.
I feel attacked!!
But do you post about it every day? 😂
Probably her birthday.
If she hadn't changed the title I would of thought by the picture that this is the same post over and over. It feels like groundhogs day and I'm no Bill Murray
AND how many times does she post that those are her "favorite joggers ever" and then link to the website she's "partnered" with. Ughh
Just smash that link and make sure you tag # ashpants to get %10 off of your first purchase! She makes cents on the dollar, people!
Lmao I cackled
Ahahahahahaha thanks for this, I needed a laugh
Rib relocation, relocation, relocation
This made me laugh far more than it should have!
Happy cake day to you!
And here we have yet another perennial favorite impossibility among munchies: the dislocating/"relocating" rib.
You need a joint to have something dislocate.
Ribs can't move far. At least not without a lot of trauma.
The rib issue people with EDS have is a floating rib, not a dislocating one. And it doesn't do nearly as much as these people think.
The worst I've heard was a woman whose floating ribs would shift a bit, usually unnoticed by her. What was noticed was the sensation that her internal organs would get caught on this rib. No idea if that's what was actually happening, but that's what it felt like to her. She could "unhook" her organs with a specific kind of shift, and all would be well again. But no, not a dislocation.
Ribs do have joints but only at the spine. Dislocating one there however takes significant trauma even in EDS patients and requires surgery to relocate. You'll usually break the rib as well at the point the rib sustained enough trauma to dislocate it, and might also have a spinal injury. So really at the point you've dislocated your rib, it's just one thing on a list of really big issues you have now.
What the EDS crowd is describing is slipping rib syndrome. Which can be incredibly painful. The nerves that run between your ribs are extremely sensitive they don't like it when the ribs shift and hit each other. It's like plucking a nerve like a guitar string. It's gonna hurt like hell. Still not a dislocation.
Im also 99% sure the person organs were not getting hooked on their ribs. That would be extremely dangerous and risking organs tearing. Most likely it was just another case of slipping rib syndrome and that's what she thought the feels of the ribs and cartilage and nerves sliding agaisnt each other were. But it's about as believable as non traumatic rib dislocations. If not less.
Is that actually considered a joint? I was under the impression it wasn't considered a joint, just a cartilage connection, allowing for some movement with breathing.
Yeah, the woman was pretty sure it wasn't really organs getting hooked on the ribs, that's just how she described the sensation. I probably phrased that badly.. Either way though... Creepy....
Where they connect at the sternum you're correct. It's a cartilage connection and not consider a true joint. Where they actually connect to the spine they have joints there. Those joints are just super sturdy due to their anatomy (Google it and you'll see) so they're very hard to dislocate and just don't move a lot. But where it connects to the sternum it's just cartilage not an actual joint so it moves a ton. You can also tear the ribs from their cartilage there. It's just not a dislocation because it's not a joint.
Oh yeah.... look at that....
And just for the record, I would have eventually thought of Googling.... once my sleepy ass brain wakes up.... really... I would have thought of it on my own... I think... 😉
I wish I could unread the bit about organs getting caught on a rib
Don't give them any ideas. Next thing we will be reading about all these organs getting caught up in ribs.
That would be hilarious.... I mean, of all the dumb things to pick up from here, lol. I tried talking about a real complication of EDS to see who picked it up from here. None of them took it, they all just kept on munching about things that don't happen with EDS. It really kinda bothers me that none of them seem to have done even some cursory research on the illness they all totally pinkie swear they have. I mean, Bethany's "ten symptoms of EDS" was just insulting. She only got three out of ten right... while smirking the whole time. ...
I'm going to get down voted like hell for saying this, and I'm 100% not trying to defend ash, but you actually can dislocate a rib, though a subluxation is more common. People with EDS are actually quite prone to it. 🤷♀️ Go ahead, I'll now bend over and take what I deserve.
You're just misinformed. What you're talking about is slipping rib syndrome. The ribs only true joints are where they connect at the spine. They don't have what are considered real joints at the breast bone. They can dislocate at the spine, but it WILL take significant trauma yes even in EDS. They also are NOT going back into place without surgery.
So no people with EDS are not prone to rib dislocations. They are very prone to slipping rib syndrome. And a whole bunch of EDS people call that rib subluxations and dislocations either because they're misinformed, or want to sound more dramatic. But no their ribs are not actually dislocating.
I’m giving you an upvote just for being able to make this comment without blogging even a little bit
Nah, I'm not gonna downvote you for respectfully disagreeing.
I do gotta say, though, I Googled dislocated rib to see what happened. The only places I saw where it was actually referred to as a dislocation were on chiropractor sites. And while I'm usually the only one defending the one half of chiropractors that are NOT quacks, I gotta say, it doesn't bode well when only chiropractors use a phrase. And they weren't the non-quack kind of chiropractor...
Every other place referred to is as a slipped rib. Now, this may be more a question of semantics than physical presentation. By definition, dislocations are joint injuries. Non-joint displacements are called different things, and physically, the types of damage involved tend to be different because, again, not a joint.
So I'm willing to compromise and say the main difference between a slipped rib and a dislocated one is likely semantics, but I think we can agree Ashley has zero knowledge about any of this, and probably envisions a dislocated rib to be popping out and flying in all sorts of directions.
And now, because it's past my nap time, I have mental images of ribs with wings flying around while Ashley keeps jumping around, trying to catch them. Except she looks like Bella's White Girl Can't Jump video.
What a respectful reply, thank you. I do agree it's probably semantics, and I agree even more that Ashley doesn't know what she's talking about and just throws out terms she's probably seen on other muchies' IG.
I've always preferred intellectual discussion over dramatic arguments. It's a shame more discussions can't go like this one did.
Thank you for the chat. I truly enjoyed it.
Are you saying she is lying?!
I know, I know. Such a wild and crazy idea, right? And yet, we must consider the possibility that Ashley may, in fact, be less than truthful....
It is for this gold info I keep checking this sub.
Not necessarily for the illness faking teenagers, but the bad ass mixed martial arts recommendations.
Ready for what?? Bong rips and ✨taking it easy✨?
Uh oh! Better crawl into bed and relax!!
I cannot believe I haven’t. Not yet anyhow.
All that coughing from the bong might float a rib. 😂
Bong rips and rib pops.
I think that's where eve came from
Your ribs dislocated and you're wearing... A bra????
Same bra different day 🙄
Did she do CPR on herself 🙄
Usually when you do CPR on a person there is a high change of cracking/dislocating ribs due to the amount of pressure being put on your chest. So I kinda made a joke out of it 😁
