I actually wonder how they will make this module run without multi threading.
It has an AI crew member and has more systems than any other module.
Considering new ground avoidance radar of Mirage did not fit to CPU budget of ED for the game core and Razbam was allowed to use another core fore the radar I simply cannot imagine apache is running wel on one core.
Hence, vulkan.
No point in getting the Apache if I can't fly it without moving to a sideshow. Already have that issue with the Mi24 and I hate that I can barely fly it when servers get busy.
It's why I've wanted vulkan to be a priority for some time. It won't be a magic fix, but it lays the groundwork for the devs to build and optimize the game better for more than just single core performance
Yeah, but once it's unspaghetti'd they will know what they're working with. The original coder died and they had to work with his database which can be very tough
For us the month of the year is more relevant then the day of the month. Might have something to do with farming, or some other thing.
We just have to change stuff. =/
That doesn't really make sense. The reason is, ED usually unvails the release date of the product and reminds costumers they have X days to buy it in discounted price (pre order) before the release.
My guess is that they will have a small trailer revealing the planned date when they are ready.
Oh and you can guess the state of the module by the type of videos already released. The msising start up video is a red flag. They usually release one before the module launches.
This. There hasn't been a video or update on the Forums in almost exactly a month. Last week's newsletter mentioned nothing about the Apache, or any other big-ticket items they've been working on the past few months.
Either they're just giving us the silent treatment after their tantrum over transparency and roadmaps, with a surprise release, or it's delayed until the 28th at the earliest.
All module releases are scheduled for **Wednesdays**...... Maybe Thursday if there's a last minute hiccup. Friday releases are a thing of the distant past........
> Friday releases are a thing of the distant past........
the last module released was Mosquito (ED) on Friday, 17 September 2021. Then we have F14 (Heatblur) on Wednesday, 18 November 2020 and then a10c (ED) on Friday, 9 October 2020. then p47 (ED) on Friday, 5 June 2020.... Either you are wrong or [this list is](https://www.wikiwand.com/en/List_of_DCS_modules)
Source?
Of the 15 modules released since (and including) the Hornet, 11 of them were released on a Friday, and 2 released on a Wednesday, 1 released on a Tuesday, and 1 released on a Thursday.
Whoa? Hornet was released on a Wednesday, so were most of the others. I'm not looking them up now, because, does it really matter...? But surely you know that OB updates, and hence releases have been happening on Wednesday's for years now. The important thing is, a betting man would bet a future Wednesday as 'target' date for Apache release.
Edit: OK, so I did look up Hornet, EA release on Wed 30th May 2018.
Hornet EA release was Friday 1st of June 2018.

Module releases have ALWAYS been Friday by tradition, with few exceptions. Now where are your sources?
They should not launch an update (unless it's only corrective) a friday. That's the kind of thing that could mess their week-end up ;).
(I apply the same rule at work. no update/upgrade a friday).
Mi-24P Hind - Startup Video: June 5th, 2021, Rleased: June 18th, 2021
VB IV Mosquito - Startup Video: August 30th, 2021, Released: September 17th, 2021
F-16 Falcon - Startup Video: September 30th, 2019, Released: October 3rd, 2019
Steam Apache Release date currently: January 26th, 2022
Startup.... or anything related to.... Nope, not found
Lol no one has ever broken tradition… just because someone has done something before doesn’t mean they will this time. They have never said startup videos have any correlation to their release dates. You’re just hoping.
>Lol no one has ever broken tradition
Except that ED shows you what is working, that's the point of the videos. See their newsletter - they literally say it. Start up is not ready yet.
I get it. We all hope that we can decipher some sort of mysterious code in videos that tell the release date. Guessing it is even part of the hype. But let’s not get angry when someone simply points out that a specific pattern is all good but nothing and no one is bound by it. That’s all I’m saying. Have fun!
It's worth remembering though, the Steam date is always a guess and nothing concrete, as they can't put nothing in there.
But, I do agree, once we see some startup videos, it's likely coming soon.
None of this was ever referring to Steam though; it was that the startup videos have been the defacto "this module is releasing very soon"
and we don't have one.
And to no surprise I imagine by anyone, the Apache has been delayed.
I think out of those 3 aircraft however the F16 might have been the only one that the Steam date was true? I can't remember if either the Hind or Mossie was though.
So yes, definitely for anyone reading this thread; don't trust the steam dates, they are 100% placeholders until confirmed in a newsletter by ED.
I was just mentioning the Steam thing, because I frequently see people say "Well it should be out by x date, because it says so on Steam" and they made it a point to mention that their Steam dates are only there because they aren't able to put "nothing" in while they wait to figure it out.
But yeah, like you said, when release is getting close, that's when the start-up and take off videos usually start to appear.
To be fair I was curious about it myself and hadn't really had a reason to look up specific dates, but it had been brought up in a few conversations, so decided to make the list handy
Can't speak for the other guy, but this is my guess as well due to the laundry list of things that still needed to be completed plus the lacking of any recent videos for it.
With quite an extensive list of things left to do (https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/283298-dcs-ah-64d-faq/#comment-4858067) and a lack of follow-up tutorial videos on some key early access capabilities (namely the weapon systems) I'm guessing there's still a fair bit to do. It seems like they were on schedule until late November.
So... March?
That list doesn't mention how much of each task needs to be done. Could be a few minutes for each task, could be that they have yet to begin, nobody knows.
Fair enough. We don't. But those are some big items in some spots so unless its 95% complete right now on a bunch of those big ones then I'm guessing they need at least another 4-5 weeks to program and QA the code. This stuff takes time.
So Matt's saying sometime before the end of Q1 now. I revise my original statement and say end of March. These things happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnn-UROuDbU
Steam store page suggests the coming wednesday, and while not always entirely accurate, updates seem to have been pushed late-ish in the month sometime during the middle of the week.
From my understanding they have to list a release date for the pre-sale on steam. They're not really obligated to stick to it. The Mosquito released a few weeks after the Steam date.
We would probably have it by now if it wasn't for all the whiny people that have no impulse control and buy an early access product then complain it isn't finished.
Thats not how capitalism works. You don't get to buy a product clearly labeled "unfinished" then whine that it is unfinished. If you don't like it being unfinished, stop buying it. I buy early access because A) I don't care if its unfinished, its still super fun to play and B) that, as you said, supports ED and their development. The problem is that half of social media _roasts_ ED for _everything_. Product is early/unfinished? Endless bitching. Product is late/ more complete, endless bitching. Product is missing a feature they found to be more difficult to implement than they thought? Endless bitching. So now we get to wait _forever_ for products because the "early access" whiners that can't keep their wallet in their pants have finally won.
I guess on the plus side, we didn't pay as much as the unfortunate souls that for whatever reason bought the premium pack for Battlefield 2042 lmao.
(Personally I preorder to support ED, EA doesn't bother me, long standing bugs do, but still like to fly different things) But it is hard to get around what you're talking about, it is prevalent, probably always will be. You can pretty much find this anywhere though, it's not ED/DCS specifically though to be honest.
Meanwhile since I mentioned BF2042, EA is now apparently considering making some portion of it free to play lmao, what a trainwreck.
Assuming it's still coming this month I think the 26th or the 28th is more likely.
EDIT: [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnn-UROuDbU) just went up, it's been delayed to sometime in Q1.
As someone who has no interest in the apache, I just want the apache to come out, be completed to everyone's satisfaction, so my rotor kings can live the dream.
Wags has not uploaded the weapons systems and start up videos so, nop, not coming tomorrow :(
I actually wonder how they will make this module run without multi threading. It has an AI crew member and has more systems than any other module. Considering new ground avoidance radar of Mirage did not fit to CPU budget of ED for the game core and Razbam was allowed to use another core fore the radar I simply cannot imagine apache is running wel on one core.
How is this still an issue? Don't all people have at least 4 cores?
Hence, vulkan. No point in getting the Apache if I can't fly it without moving to a sideshow. Already have that issue with the Mi24 and I hate that I can barely fly it when servers get busy.
It's sad to see CPUs with 8, 12 or even 16 cores not being utilised due to software inefficiencies.
It's why I've wanted vulkan to be a priority for some time. It won't be a magic fix, but it lays the groundwork for the devs to build and optimize the game better for more than just single core performance
Also means ED has to respaghetti their spaghetti code
Yeah, but once it's unspaghetti'd they will know what they're working with. The original coder died and they had to work with his database which can be very tough
I'd be happy to wait a couple of months for the next update (but keep on the important bug fixes) if it means getting multi-core enhancement
4 cores? I think pretty much all new CPUs that will run DCS are 8 or 16.
Ryzen 5's are pretty popular and are sufficient for DCS.
Yep, Ryzen 5 here 80+ fps on 50+ person MP servers. No complaints here.
VR Or 2D?
2D
I also ran DCS on a Core 2 Duo up till a year ago... fun times.
At least 2 minutes from now
T+1 hour, T being the current time
Ah! 6/4/2022
Is that world date or 6th April or American date of bloody knows when?
Thats the 2022s Day in April of the Year 6 ofc
Year 6 PP (Post Pandemic).
I'm European but I would accept the American date too :)
6th of April it is lol
As an American, that would be June 4th. I don't know why we make everything so difficult. Sorry about that.
For us the month of the year is more relevant then the day of the month. Might have something to do with farming, or some other thing. We just have to change stuff. =/

Technically could be as far back as the 31st if they still aim to make January.
Would be rare. I can't recall many (if any) module releases that weren't on a Friday. Maybe a couple small releases (Yak) on a Wednesday.

Ah yes. The ol’ “no videos so that means it’s nowhere near ready” theory. That doesn’t mean a thing.
Mi-24P Hind - Startup Video: June 5th, 2021, Rleased: June 18th, 2021 VB IV Mosquito - Startup Video: August 30th, 2021, Released: September 17th, 2021 F-16 Falcon - Startup Video: September 30th, 2019, Released: October 3rd, 2019 Steam Apache Release date currently: January 26th, 2022 Startup.... or anything related to.... I can dig it
And here we are, with our theory of a delay being correct after all.
Isn’t that what I just said? I was proven wrong? Lolol
I just love the triggered downvotes. It’s fucking hilarious. You all get so ANGRY when someone says something contrary to you. Lololol 😂😂
Which would be my birthday...I'd take that!
March 9. I feel it. Down in my pluuuums.
Going to be delayed to Q1 2022 is my bet
We are in q1?
The end of it.
Two weeks …
Discount offer ends 2022-01-26, so not before then.
not this month, thats for sure, end of feb maybe end of march
Why is it for sure?
Can't speak for the other guy, but this is my guess as well due to the laundry list of things that still needed to be completed plus the lacking of any recent videos for it.
i mean, it could still happen but we havent seen any new videos about the apache from wags
\*laughs\*
March Edit: called it
I’m thinking Wednesday.
laughs good who laughs at last
You weren't there for the Hind release, right ?
Tomorrow is Saturday in Moscow, and I don't think ED ever does releases on weekends.
I'm pretty sure tomorrow is Saturday in most places on the globe.
We need to fact-check this please
^[citation ^needed]
It's already Saturday in a few places.
2 Weeks
Haven't ED confirmed they'd release it on the 1st of February ?
source?
I have none, sadly. Someone said it pretty confidently on a Discord I'm on. Hence I asked the question in my comment, not saying it as a fact.
the sale ends on january 26st so I’m guessing it’s around that time
The sale ? New Year's sale is over since the 10th of January
I mean the -30% on pre-purchase
The Hind is out for two months and still on 30% sale, so I wouldn't take it as the truth.
It’s not on steam so idk, maybe it’s February then
Though, \`\*laughs hard\*
I think April
My guess is late February early march
4 July....🇺🇸
Two weeks into February or end of March.
Assuming it's still coming this month I think the 26th or the 28th is more likely. EDIT: [This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fnn-UROuDbU) just went up, it's been delayed to sometime in Q1.
Jan 26th
No way it’s gonna come out in the next month. There is way more hype, videos by wags and others before a big release like that.
18th of May
As someone who has no interest in the apache, I just want the apache to come out, be completed to everyone's satisfaction, so my rotor kings can live the dream.
ahahahah tomorrow
Whelp I’m out of town the week of Jan 31st; I know my luck so that has to be it!
June 4th 2022
1st of April
June
February 25th
