So does Pick Up The Phone fit better in Birds or Jeffery?
I heard Birds first of both so its always been a Travis song for me and it has the Birds cover on my playlists but ik most people have it as a YT song or say it fits better on Jeffery
The beat sounds more like Jeffery and it was originally Thug's song but it doesn't even have the Jeffery cover when you play it from the album nor a fitting title and it's the last song there so it's easier to treat it like a Birds song
It fits better on Jeffery imo sonically but it doesn’t really fit better due to the name not being in theme and kanye west is realistically the perfect outro
Lil Pump 2 was about as sad an outing as I was expecting. I was hoping maybe it could strike at least a little bit of the ignorant charm, but no dice. Punk Rock + Heavy Metal was maybe the closest thing.
i wonder if that one dude had fun at that Lucki concert. he said he'd blame me if he didn't.
can't wait to see him again though, it's coming down to the last couple of days til his show
i wanna hear some of his older cuts tbh. maybe songs like Sunset, Incoming, No Wok, Options. im expecting him to play New Drank, Super Urus and On Point since they're newer songs, i think they'd go crazy
I missed alot of rock in the 2000s cause i was obsessed with rap so i decided to go on a rock binge today. But it’s crazy how i like rap so much more than even the greatest rock that came out in the 21st century. I went back and listened to some albums from Radiohead, Bowie, Modest Mouse, Queens of the Stone Age. And this is all great music but it just doesn’t hold a candle to rap (according to my tastes at least).
And i know theres a ton of shit i still have to explore as far as 2000s rock goes but I know nothing compares to the greatest rap records. I guess its harder for me to relate to rock music, idk
>I guess its harder for me to relate to rock music
This is my problem as well, I got so used to rap culture it's hard to accept and feel attached to something different
Linkin Park's remix album Reanimation shows a lot of genuine love for hip-hop, especially from their MC/producer Mike Shinoda. It has features from Pharoahe Monch, Chali 2Na of Jurassic 5, Black Thought and some others.
Kid A is a good record but it's not Radiohead's best (that's In Rainbows in my opinion). Porcupine Tree also put out a lot of great albums in the last two decades, as did Oceansize. Actually, lots of extremely good British rock bands have put out material even after rock faded from the mainstream. If you want something very complex and challenging, check out Oceansize's discography.
Sleep Token is currently getting a lot of attention as a pop/metal crossover band. You might like their record from 2021 This Place Will Become Your Tomb.
Virtuosic instrumental rock/metal is experiencing a renaissance right now. Polyphia is sort of blowing up but other bands like Chon and Animals as Leaders have had a steady output of really creative, experimental music. I also like Australian trio The Omnific—they feature two bassists and a drummer, which gives them a pretty unique sound.
Tesseract's Altered State from 2013 is one of the best records I've ever heard in any genre. So is Slice the Cake's Odyssey to the West, but that's deathcore and far less accessible than any rock.
I used to listen to Linkin Parks debut album because my brother had it. Plus I listened to the Jay Z collab album alot. Ive been listening to Green Day since the 90s but i never heard a full album i dont think, but I would listen to the singles alot, heard them mostly on radio and Youtube.
Ive listened to rock my whole life, I didn’t get into rap heavily until i was 15. But i missed out on alot over the years because i was more into rap. Ive still listened to rock, but mostly classic bands like The Beatles, The Police, Floyd, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Eagles, shit like that.
Is frog on the floor ho scaring music?
Edit I was singing it cooking pasta and my wife yelled to shut up so it is indubitably confirmed to be ho scaring music
It comes off as a silly ass kids ska song but with some seriously inappropriate lyrics so I actually loved it right away
I can tell my brain is broken from trauma because 100 gecs is sounding good for the first time in my life
The main reason why I've always liked Gecs is because they perfectly straddle the line between meme music and genuinely well-crafted and forward thinking pop music.
Talent wise I think I'd go with Zaytoven, Mike Will, Southside
In terms of sounds I like that they made, probably Southside, Mike Will for a very close second, Zaytoven
I posted on the page and got my post removed. My little cousin passed away the other day and I'm looking for songs that will remind me of him and help me grieve. A couple of users helped me with some recs. Thank you very much!
I'm looking for more tribute songs similar to that of Letter to Nipsey by Meek Mill. Please do not share any songs related to suicide (as his passing was from an unfortunate accident).
All the future fans: have you heard this song before?[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZQs4gFl61M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZQs4gFl61M)
just stumbled upon it somehow and that hook goes crazy it feels dated but still slaps in a way
Bruh on TikTok there’s a guy making AI Kanye voice do cover songs and it is Insane how good it sounds. I just listened to him doing Lights Please by Cole and man every song sounds better in Kanye’s voice. This might be the only good thing in the AI dystopian future
[Today I learned that TM88 sampled a remix of Lana Del Rey's Summertime Sadness on Codeine Crazy](https://twitter.com/TM88/status/1575849757914038272?t=oIHOzXmKWWFCFQnYbCknuQ&s=19)
Thinking bout how once every 2 years, J Cole will release an album and everyone will pretend like he's actually good for about a week. After that literally nobody brings him up for the next 2 years.
Rinse and repeat
What he does is rap good as fuck. Dude doesn't need to be boxed off to the side like Billy Woods or some shit. My man can hop on most shit and make it sound like it was made for him
No one's gonna know what I'm talking about, but can someone tell me what song I'm thinking of?
I was watching [this video about Thundercat](https://youtu.be/Qg6ZRsMvB3o?t=110) and at 1:50 the guy plays these Gmja7 and Cmaj7 notes that sound like another song. It's driving me crazy.
I was thinking it's something like Buggin' Out by ATCQ or Acid Raindrops by People Under the Stairs, but it isn't either of those. Gotta be late 90s/early 00s. Does it sound familiar to anyone else?
i'm such a dumbass lmao that was one of the first songs i tried but i must have just skipped to the one part of the song that doesnt have the bassline. thanks man that was driving me crazy. it felt so obvious and it totally was. appreciate it
Something I’ve learned from non rap fans/strictly “lyrical” rap fans is that if it has trap drums but the rapping isn’t fast, they will call it mumble rap
probably just racism + audio quality but now that i think about it i feel like Krit is surprisingly easy to understand considering how much he leans into his accent. i guess I'm also southern though so maybe that helps
Mumble rap isn’t an actual thing. It was a term derived by oldheads to put down new artists making trap and drill music during the mid and late 2010s.
The term got hijacked by racists who often use it to dismiss rap as a whole, deeming it as a genre where nothing is discussed beyond drugs/sex/violence. Racists will apply this term to essentially any type of rap, no matter the sub genre or subject matter.
KRIT very clearly does not “mumble”, thus anyone calling him a mumble rapper likely falls into the second category I mentioned above.
I never really thought of it like that but I agree. And I think racism is definitely a part of it, but I think it's mostly just ignorance. Like I think when most people who don't actually listen to rap hear 808's and fast hi-hats they assume it's mumble rap or whatever, just because they don't know no better
What K.R.I.T. song was it? He has some trappy songs and club type bangers that I could see someone seeing as mumble rap because anything with an 808 is mumble rap to them. Still incredibly ignorant to call him mumble rap any way you look at it tho
Opened up Spotify and it’s pretty much Tik Tok/IG reels now and I don’t like it. I thought when they introduced the for you playlist that looked like that it was cool but I don’t want the entire UI to look like this.
They only rolled that out on the Release Radar playlist for me. Which is wild because that's the one place I would actually find the feature useful, but I'm not using it just because I don't want them to give me that shit everywhere.
Luxury by Azealia Banks is what I’ve always imagined English songs sound like to people who don’t speak English. I don’t mean that in a bad way either I like the song it’s very danceable
I think it has more duds than any of his last few projects but there’s a bunch of dope tracks on it. Definitely a step down from Long Live Mexico and Trapped on Cleveland 3 which are great but it’s still a good album and I’d say I prefer it to the first Keed Talk To Em
Whenever i try to listen to that song on youtube I have to click through like 5 different versions of their other I Can't Feel My Face song off of Da Drought 3 lol
Yeah, doesn't help it's by them both, making it harder. If the other one was just a Wayne solo song or something, it'd be easier to to find the one with the beat switches and such.
man Isaiah Rashad is such a fucking vibe, THIB prolly one of my favourite albums rn. I've listened to Cilvia Demo and THIB a few times, i don't even pay attention to what he is saying, not one bar... just the atmosphere of the songs is so elite. It's been raining for a few days here and the music is just so nice, fits like a glove.
Him & Spitta have been the soundtrack for the past couple weeks and it just makes me wonder how a track with both of them would be like...not that far fetched tbh
Oh so you SMOKE smoke...
I'm playing lol fr tho definitely go back to Cilvia if you don't know it well and also The Sun's Tirade, his album between that and THIB. Dude is literally one of the best out rn if you fuck with him lol
haha i do smoke but its been a while. Been wanting to smoke up for a while now but can't so music is the only thing left... I'll check out Sun's Tirade for sure, thanks
Curren$y actually was supposed to meet him in the studio prior to THIB's release but he forgot and Isaiah thought he flaked. [Revelant thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/IsaiahRashad/comments/kd6l48/curreny_verse_on_wat_u_sed/). But then several months later Isaiah seemed to confirm that he sent a verse for Wat U Sed, a snippet was previewed but I guess it didn't make the cut unfortunately. They'd be so fire together for sure
Not sure if you keep up with leaks at all but Zay's probably had 35+ songs leak over the past year, most were dropped in a comp that everyone's been calling 4r Da Vibers. [Here's](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RzBMAJMosEX27bmoAxYf5r2s4uSoefO3?usp=share_link) a link
I hope they resolved everything and they can actually collab and release it. Wouldn't want any bad blood between two of the best vibey guys in hip hop.
I hope we can have a Ski Mask resurgence. Stokeley was a good-ass album but it was 5 years ago. The Sin City mixtape he released in 2021 was ok but forgettable.
I wish he could recapture the charm of the Drown In Designer and YouWillRegret days.
Idk its gotten old. Feels like every year since 2020 he's promised multiple projects in that year and then he doesn't deliver. Like in 2021 he said Sin City was one of 3 albums, with another dropping on halloween. Guess what didn't drop on Halloween and has still yet to drop a year and a half later?
I gave it my second listen an hour ago lmao
Not much replayability in my eyes, on the other hand Nuketown and Faucet Failure from Stokeley are in my regular rotation.
Book of Eli was a let down imo, the rollout was fumbled and the 2 most hyped songs - Worldwide and Ski Meets World - weren't on the official tape. It's a damn shame too, cause Ski Meets World was set to have a Busta Rhymes verse and Nationwide was produced by Timbaland.
It's a shame because that's when I thought Ski would get really really big. He was reeling from the popularity of Catch Me Outside and things seemed like they were gonna go great. Stokeley was a good album imo
You Will Regret and Drown in Designer are certified Soundcloud classics
when I say Book of Eli I mean the original leaked version btw, the Timbaland beats were amazing. but I agree it was a let down for the official drop, and also agree about him being next up after Catch Me Outside. unfortunately I'm sure the deaths of XXX and Juice impacted him a lot
Aaa okay in that case I agree.
>unfortunately I'm sure the deaths of XXX and Juice impacted him a lot
For sure. Juice was one of my favourite artists to emerge in the last few years and him and Ski killed it on Nuketown. I know rapper collab albums are always hyped up and announced but never actually made, but damn do I wish we could have gotten a Ski x Juice tape.
I’m still rooting for him. I know he was supposed to drop a project after that mixtape but I think the reception may have had him hold off (I could be wrong). Hope he comes with some energy and fun flows for his next project. Hoping for at least 10 songs but we’ll see
Ski got some hype and good reception from that [Burn The Hoods](https://youtu.be/9AGAeGsBCvc) song, but that was back in 2020. He made a mistake not dropping that song that's a snippet at the end of the video.
He's touring with $uicideboy$ and Germ right now, I'm really hoping they make music together some day.
To this day, LOYALTY is the hardest I’ve seen Kendrick reach for a commercial song and you can feel it in the record lol. I really dislike that song. I don’t feel like Kendrick and Rihanna played off each other well in the song, and the hook feels pretty low effort. High key, LOYALTY is the worst song on the album for me.
100% agree, same goes for LOVE. Kendrick's attempts at singing on GOD are also awful.
DAMN was just a big misstep IMO. Dude really wanted radio hits with that one, which he got, but it resulted in some really mid songs.
the hook isn't that special but i do like how Kendrick and Rihanna go back and forth throughout it. some good lines in there and the Bruno Mars sample is pretty dope
I always liked that song, it's a good jam
Also last night I had that stupid fucking "yeah baby" he does in Purple Hearts in my head and it was annoying me

Megan - Thot Shit. 21 Savage - Glock in My Lap, My Choppa Hate N*, Runnin, Savage Mode I mean its basically his lane imo
Riff Raff/Yelawolf - Tip Toe 4 If you need that Danny McBride type confidence
Yung Lean - Miami Ultras
Big KRIT - Confetti
Gucci Mane - Swole Pocket Shawty SZA - Kill Bill (this song got me through my set fr)

Definitely Birds. The title of the song alone doesn’t fit with the rest of Jeffrey.
Birds
It fits better on Jeffery imo sonically but it doesn’t really fit better due to the name not being in theme and kanye west is realistically the perfect outro
I’d say Birds it fits that album perfectly. I’ve never really felt it fits on Jeffery well
Lil Pump 2 was about as sad an outing as I was expecting. I was hoping maybe it could strike at least a little bit of the ignorant charm, but no dice. Punk Rock + Heavy Metal was maybe the closest thing.
I liked the track with Rio. Pump over those types of beats sounds decent.
The downfall continues
i wonder if that one dude had fun at that Lucki concert. he said he'd blame me if he didn't. can't wait to see him again though, it's coming down to the last couple of days til his show
spoiler: he didn’t
man is missing out
What songs you hoping he plays? Never really been into him
i wanna hear some of his older cuts tbh. maybe songs like Sunset, Incoming, No Wok, Options. im expecting him to play New Drank, Super Urus and On Point since they're newer songs, i think they'd go crazy
Crazy story by king von is so fucking hard
I love Part 3 the most but all of em hard
Part 3 got one of the hardest beats on everything

Have you tried listening to The Strokes? They generally hold up well.

Audioslave and Soundgarden, more specifically Chris Cornell, are absolutely amazing
Blackhole Sun is a great song, ive heard a few Audioslave songs that were really good
My chemical romance, thank me later
bruh
Since they were from about the same era did you ever listen to Death Cab For Cutie? They had some great songs.
Never heard of, but I'll check 'em out for sure!
Try Linkin Park or Green Day if you haven’t
I used to listen to Linkin Parks debut album because my brother had it. Plus I listened to the Jay Z collab album alot. Ive been listening to Green Day since the 90s but i never heard a full album i dont think, but I would listen to the singles alot, heard them mostly on radio and Youtube.
Fr I'm taking akons radio run over bodies discography any day of the week
I don’t listen to Akon dick
I kinda agree with you on a personal level but damn did you make this decision off a day of listening to rock
What Radiohead album tho
Kid A, it was honestly the best record i heard from everything i was listening to today.
Oh shit what I only put 1 rap album over that lmao My favorite Radiohead. Immaculate shit.
What album?
Yeezus Unless demon dayz counts too

Yeah unless demon dayz counts

Gorillaz
Yeezus almost sounds like an art rock album in places

The worst part about Jadakiss' remix of OOOUUU was that we never got an ooouuu from Jadakiss himself.

Absolutely, and I'm afraid that it really grew on me after the second listen

Probably, yeah.
Ok it's staying in the playlist
Good. Be sure to play it at full blast in public.
I'm gonna be honest with you I will be blasting it on the disc golf course tomorrow
You gotta blast East at some point too lol.
Been there done that It's not in any playlist I normally use for the course, but I played a vacant 9 hole to srs on repeat last summer
Golfing to SRS sounds hella weird lol.
I'll disc to anything I'm feeling whether with ear pods or a speaker I do have a specific playlist for discing I default to though
What's the regular playlist got most on it? In terms of the vibes?
If a hoe scared of frogs or floors, yes
It's just so hard to tell with 100gecs when they are or are not scaring the hoes

Thinking bout how once every 2 years, J Cole will release an album and everyone will pretend like he's actually good for about a week. After that literally nobody brings him up for the next 2 years. Rinse and repeat
Naw that’s Tyler
Not even comparable, he's spot on about Cole but Tyler has a cult following
You're both wrong
I'm not huge on Cole but he's pretty good at what he does
What he does is rap good as fuck. Dude doesn't need to be boxed off to the side like Billy Woods or some shit. My man can hop on most shit and make it sound like it was made for him

Wdym? J. Cole is pretty good, even if he isn’t your cup of tea.

They'd be so fire together for sure Not sure if you keep up with leaks at all but Zay's probably had 35+ songs leak over the past year, most were dropped in a comp that everyone's been calling 4r Da Vibers. [Here's](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RzBMAJMosEX27bmoAxYf5r2s4uSoefO3?usp=share_link) a link
didn't know about this trivia... I don't keep up with leaks but i do know abt this one, I'll eventually listen to them too, thanks for the link
I hope they resolved everything and they can actually collab and release it. Wouldn't want any bad blood between two of the best vibey guys in hip hop.

Spitta don’t want that smoke 😤😤😤
I don't even know what a diss track by Spitta would sound like.

i feel you
the closest we ever got to Zay x Spitta. i know i was waiting forever to see if that version dropped.
100% agree I love THIB great deluxe as well. He creates such a great vibe with his music.
I have only listened to Deep Blue, will listen to the deluxe soon tho
I hope we can have a Ski Mask resurgence. Stokeley was a good-ass album but it was 5 years ago. The Sin City mixtape he released in 2021 was ok but forgettable. I wish he could recapture the charm of the Drown In Designer and YouWillRegret days.
He'd actually have to drop music first.
True man but I still have some hope that he'll come through one day
Sin City was in 2021??? shieeeet i haven't even listened to it for a 2nd time yet
I gave it my second listen an hour ago lmao Not much replayability in my eyes, on the other hand Nuketown and Faucet Failure from Stokeley are in my regular rotation.
fuck i used to be such a big ski mask fan but he's been so mid with his own albums. You Will Regret, Drown in Designer, and Book of Eli are so fire
Stokeley was a good album imo You Will Regret and Drown in Designer are certified Soundcloud classics
when I say Book of Eli I mean the original leaked version btw, the Timbaland beats were amazing. but I agree it was a let down for the official drop, and also agree about him being next up after Catch Me Outside. unfortunately I'm sure the deaths of XXX and Juice impacted him a lot
Aaa okay in that case I agree. >unfortunately I'm sure the deaths of XXX and Juice impacted him a lot For sure.
Are we ever gonna get a griselda album?
hopefully one with samples cause they don't have to deal with shady wwcd was fine but just not my preferred sound, who made the sunshine was the same
Need Mach on a track with Rome or Stove ASAP
Probably not
Have they spoken bout it? I mean, at least they make enough songs together still. But a straight album would be cool
All 3 of them have said that they're interested in doing another one. Who knows when/if it's actually gonna happen though.
I thought we already got that with “what would chine gun do”
I mean a new one lol
TIL there was a Bruno Mars sample
you should check out the sample breakdown u/Background-Car-4488 had linked
I always liked that song, it's a good jam Also last night I had that stupid fucking "yeah baby" he does in Purple Hearts in my head and it was annoying me
Yeah bay bee
