He did some other songs too under his own name. There's one playing in the club episode of Atlanta season 1 I think. It's actually a good one
https://open.spotify.com/track/5TzGjc2zbGRHk6IUwlRl3V?si=ef6IocZUT-efAieeRlXE3A fuckin found it
This is crazy because I saw an ad for this show last night and totally thought “this is sum Gambino would be involved with” I had no idea it’s HIS show lol
Atlanta had a good return to form with the latest season too. Idk what the deal was with season 3, maybe covid. But season 4 restored a lot of confidence for me in Donald's show crafting
Idk, it's kinda hard to explain. There were a lot of times where Donald's political commentary *really* missed, in my opinion. Like the "I'm trans-racial I identify as a white guy" episode. Or the reparations episode. And not only did season 3 have a lot of that questionable/tired/frustrating attempted social commentary, a lot of the episodes were seperated entirely from the tv show Atlanta. It wasn't the story or the characters I was there to see, it was Donald using the time block on TV to air his bad Black Mirror episodes.
I liked when it was the main cast, and some funny surrealist shit happens, and the social commentary is mainly just about how people act in certain situations. Not really hammering us on the head with it.
I was surprised you can get away with the transracial episode, I thought it had to be like 2013, I was surprised it was so recent. Feels like when Eminem got away with calling Tyler the F slur in 2019. Had very strong attack helicopter meme vibes. Transracial has been the strawman conservative meme to attack transgender identity for a long time now. "I identify as a black dude so do I get a pass loooooool". And the episode had some crazy representation of the other side of the argument, being a charicature of a feminist or a progressive. That was some Dave Chappelle level irresponsibility and tired played-out memes
Your argument would be fair if transracialism didn't exist.
There are people that try to change their race. It's not the same as transgenderism.
What is shown in Atlanta is a flipped representation of how white people change their race to gain the benefits of the oppressed while never truly sharing the experience. (Rachel Dolezal)(not quite the same but I had a college professor that claimed they were aracial in an attempt to distance themselves from white people.) . Atlanta showed it as a black man (child? It's been a while + 💨) benefitting from white privilege.
It's not really a movement, or a large thing. It's not common at all, but it is something that happens. Rachel Dolezal is a relevant example because news about her was still pretty fresh when the episode was made.
transracial episode meme is the biggest reach the show had. adopted kid ep (s3e01) is a great mini horror film. and whiteguy reparations ep is pretty sick, but didn't go anywhere, was hoping it would tie into the plot.
i loved every season of atlanta and i really fuck with donald as an artist/writer, but i’m really skeptical about this show. i feel like a lot of the amazon prime shows that i’ve seen have been really disappointing
The last song on his last album is one of my favorite things he's put out. Feels so under appreciated bc of the way he handled the whole rollout. I love a good album closer and that song does it
12.38, 19.10 and 35.31 not?
Sidenote: because the songs are titled the way they are, I'm way better at fitting them into the general album progression than with a regular album. F.e., Juggernaut from CMIYGL always feels like a relatively early track in the album to me. 12.38 would do so as well, but because I know it's "smaller" than others I have it in my head in the correct place.
Granted, I have listened to this album a fuckton so I know the titles by heart but imo it improves the experience.
Let my mans work and do what he wants without judgement .
He has given plenty of music from the 2010. In addition to Atlanta , guava island, community , regular show.
At this point I’m willing to be patient and just let him do his thing .
>Let my mans work and do what he wants without judgement .
Imagine having that kind of luxury as any kind of entertainer, let alone one as popular as Donald Glover.
Fuck outta here, he isn't exempt from criticism.
If he drops something shitty, sure. But why can’t he choose what medium he wants to work with next, or if he never wants to make music again? Music fans can get pretty entitled and it’s lame
I think OP means let him work on the type of stuff he wants to do. People are wanting for music but OP is saying he quiet and let the man make art in whatever medium he wants, we can’t judge his choice to stay away from music
Im ok with that. I had a gambino phase for his music but i genuinely think he’s better at producing and acting. Atlanta has the same mystique as the first time watching Get Out or something
I think at this point Donald's nearly adapted Hiro's direction style, which Im not mad at because its what made Atlanta so consistently great (all those directors kind of adapted it there)
But im excited to see how he spins it as his own for this show as we already know hes directing the pilot.
It looks like hes taking cues from Peele and Lynch to mix in and make his own distinct version

I just finished Atlanta at that show was so amazing and so weird, I’m pretty sure I will watch anything Glover brings out for the rest of my life.
I’ve never seen a show so unique, I wish I was friends with Darius irl.
>The series tells the story of Dre, a young woman who is obsessed with a fictional pop star (whose oeuvre and aesthetic are very similar to that of American singer Beyoncé), with a fanbase known as "The Swarm (with Beyoncé’s fan base also know as the ‘Bey Hive’). The show is a dive into Dre's life, her fandom, and how it takes her to dark, unexpected places.
He definitely changed his mind a while ago. It’s funny people are still under the impression he quit Gambino when there actually hasn’t been any indication he was doing that since 2019.
Bino needs to stop playing and drop the stuff from Atlanta, Guava Island, and those other loosies.
I don’t under why they never dropped a paper boi mixtape as promo
pretty sure his brother is the one who raps as paper boi which makes it even cooler. also makes it sadder that an official tape never released
Yup Steve G. They both talented af it’s crazy
His brother's name is Steve Gambino?
Glover lol
glover gambino
What a weird name.
gg
😂
Stephen wrote that House Party remake that was absolute buns so I'm hoping this new show is solid
Yeah first time I heard it I knew him from royalty
He did some other songs too under his own name. There's one playing in the club episode of Atlanta season 1 I think. It's actually a good one https://open.spotify.com/track/5TzGjc2zbGRHk6IUwlRl3V?si=ef6IocZUT-efAieeRlXE3A fuckin found it
cause it's pretty average. that's the point even.
It's so average it's funny. At least the Paper Boi song. Absolutely love it.
but I still might have to slap a trick shout out colin kaepernick
🤣🤣🤣
he saw what happened to cudi when he did it
Lol what cudi do?
Entergalactic was a movie + album release, wasn't received well at all
All about that money boi
I need a blueblood album for real
Came to say this. Still missing clues.
You sure you don't want that D'Angelo?
Surprised human sacrifice never came out. Could have been a hit
It did leak recently! I wish it had an official release, but the leak is pretty good too
Song 8 Ay Ya Human Sacrifice Die With You Saturday Jungle Love Human Dilemma all leaked today
Stop playing with me
Saturday from guava island too
Legit

Fr where the JB song for when I gotta "apologize"
This is crazy because I saw an ad for this show last night and totally thought “this is sum Gambino would be involved with” I had no idea it’s HIS show lol
At least the drought wasn’t too long since Atlanta ended. I’m in for some more trippy shit 🙌🏿
Atlanta had a good return to form with the latest season too. Idk what the deal was with season 3, maybe covid. But season 4 restored a lot of confidence for me in Donald's show crafting
I dont get the s3 hate personally. Loved the whole show.
People knew it was all coming to an end and wanted to spend more time with the characters. Season 3 spent a lot of time away from them.
S3 best atlanta season

To each their own I guess, I personally loved the transracial episode, and the reparations episode was one of my favorite of the entire series.
I was surprised you can get away with the transracial episode, I thought it had to be like 2013, I was surprised it was so recent. Rachel Dolezal is hardly proof of a larger movement to criticize.
It's not really a movement, or a large thing. It's not common at all, but it is something that happens. Rachel Dolezal is a relevant example because news about her was still pretty fresh when the episode was made.
Which episode was the "trans-racial" one? I can't remember and the descriptions of the episodes don't help.
s1e7
Ah okay yeah thanks, I thought you meant in Season 3.
Season 3 is the best season
It wasn't all terrible, I'm sure we have some common ground. >!Pac's death!< killed me.That's the kind of surrealist shit I love in Atlanta and Louie.
Was that the episode in Amsterdam?
Yes I believe so
transracial episode meme is the biggest reach the show had. adopted kid ep (s3e01) is a great mini horror film. and whiteguy reparations ep is pretty sick, but didn't go anywhere, was hoping it would tie into the plot.

Crazy that this is the first I have heard of this and its coming out this week.
Was that a banjo kazooie sample playin in the back?
I think it’s a mouth harp. Loving the cartoonish vibes on this.
man i just want him to release saturday on streaming :(
The cdq is out there 🤫
May you point me to any direction
Think it’s still up on r/donaldglover if not check @Rap301’s link in their Twitter bio
bruh you really baiting me like this huh
The last song on his last album is one of my favorite things he's put out. Feels so under appreciated bc of the way he handled the whole rollout. I love a good album closer and that song does it
Best song on the album
That’s the one song I go back to from that album

12.38 is my fav. Now I want a peach papaya.
I never got that line, wth is a peach papaya?
[here is another snippet without all the sounds from the show](https://youtube.com/shorts/yJ5sNw57M-g?feature=share)
Word on the street is that Chloe Bailey taking backshots in a sex scene in the first episode. Stay woke
😳
I'm serious lol. Definitely gonna watch
Hope you're right
Stay hard.
I love me some dark humor! Definitely gonna be watching this.
he dropping shows but not dropping mixtapes or albums smh
Let my mans work and do what he wants without judgement . He has given plenty of music from the 2010. In addition to Atlanta , guava island, community , regular show. At this point I’m willing to be patient and just let him do his thing .
(I'm just making a joke, we good)
Fuck what he wants. We need BCTI 2.
Let’s be real, the streets need Camp 2
Gangsta Grillz retelling of the boy on the bus story

this means the world is in order.
Im ok with that. I had a gambino phase for his music but i genuinely think he’s better at producing and acting. Atlanta has the same mystique as the first time watching Get Out or something
see my response to the other reply 👍
Is that the actress from The Deuce??
yes!
Thought I recognized her! She was great on that show.
Can't find anything out there about Hiro Murai being involved but from this trailer it certainly looks like it
I think at this point Donald's nearly adapted Hiro's direction style, which Im not mad at because its what made Atlanta so consistently great (all those directors kind of adapted it there) But im excited to see how he spins it as his own for this show as we already know hes directing the pilot. According to wikipedia Glover only wrote/directed the first episode and Hiro did not direct any episodes
How does he keep making/being in shit? And how didn’t I know about this until now? Damn I’m hyped
I think he has a multi project deal with Amazon. I think they announced it way back when guava island came out
He signed an 8 figure deal with Amazon after Atlantas success
WHY DOESNT MANS ANNOUNCE STUFF
I’ve been getting ads for this show for at least a few weeks
Killa bees stinging something while I reveal Science The heavenly guarded by the culprit Bombing your barracks With aerodynamic Sword play, poison darts by the doorway
Slide some of that Royalty gambino in there.
I just finished Atlanta at that show was so amazing and so weird, I’m pretty sure I will watch anything Glover brings out for the rest of my life. I’ve never seen a show so unique, I wish I was friends with Darius irl.
Lookin like a Karena Evans joint almost

Interested in both!
cool
Sounds like hes still in his "weird shit" phase. Would love to see more rapping but i guess he moved on for good.
I get what you mean but he's been "weird" since ~2010 which attracted a lot of his fans in the first place.
Nah, definitely an air of pretensious experimental art house vibe, that was.not part.of his persona I'm the past.
Did you listen to BTI? It literally came with a screenplay
I could have sworn he was walking away from CG to do all his other stuff? Or does this count as still not dropping an album?
He definitely changed his mind a while ago. It’s funny people are still under the impression he quit Gambino when there actually hasn’t been any indication he was doing that since 2019.
that blood in one of the early shots looks incredibly... fake
Ehh not my cup of tea but the video looks fire
Do not want
Sounds like something Tyler would make
more hyped for the videos than the music. first i've heard of "swarm", great to know he's back to doing TV, what he's best at.
Who is the woman in blue at the end ? i know her face but can not remember her name
This show is horrible
