I have been listening to a lot of late 90's, early 2000's hip hop. Basically, stuff like **Gang Starr** (Moment of Truth), **Afu-Ra** (Body of the Life Force), **Pete Rock** (Lost & Found: Hip Hop Underground Soul Classics), **Black Moon** (DAH INSTRUMENTALZ), **Slum Village** (Fantastic, Vol. 2), and Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are **Black Star**. I think this turn of the millennium sound was pretty good. Can anyone recommend any music that emulates this type of sound?

wavyalien

Gangstarr goes so fucking hard. A Tribe Called Quest has that vibe

IamHere-4U

I love A Tribe Called Quest. They are probably my favorite hip hop collective of all time. I slept on De La Soul for a while, though, and I have recently been getting into their stuff and think they have a similar vibe.

some cliche picks but rakim (the master), brand nubian, big L, EPMD and for newer picks joey bada$$ and dave east

IamHere-4U

Some I am familiar with, and others not. Are there any tracks that you would recommend for each?

RafiakaMacakaDirk

rakim: when i b on the mic, guess who's back, it's been a long time, waiting for the world to end, remember that brand nubian: slow down, wake up, all for one big L: he only has one album so just listen to that, + his [freestyle with jay z](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dN3aS2Rxfs) EPMD: da joint, symphony 2000, never seen before joey: waves, hardknock, curry chicken, big dusty dave east: not sure tbh I'm not well-versed on him but just know that people usually recommend him for this type of sound lmao

Hard Agree. Dr Octagon was fantastic but Del and Automator caught lightning in a bottle

IamHere-4U

What is he best track on Deltron 3030?

DopeSlingingSlasher

Check out some Marlon Craft, he has become one of my absolute favorite MCs these last couple years, His album last year While Were Here was in my top 3 for the year, if not my aoty. Check out the song Hans Zimmer on it, really grabs that hard, gritty 90s NY sound.. whole album is amazing though.

Binary Star- Masters of the Universe https://spotify.link/UpSyWQwn6xb Not late 90s, but Redveil and Sideshow capture that style in a modern way

MafiosoWolfos

I think Aesop Rock early stuff, Jurassic 5’s first 2 albums, maybe Wu-Tang Clans first album, anything Fugees, Outkast, and MF Doom. Hopefully you give them a listen and like them!

Check out Tom Caruana projects if you like amazing mashups and remixes
