Mine do, never hindered me. The only time I even really notice is with barre chords because I had to adjust my finger position slightly to play every note clean since if I put my finger directly on its side I sometimes don’t get enough pressure for the E/A strings
Phone strapped to head, picture mode with delay timer set to 10 seconds. Job done.
The real question is, were his fingers ever straight to begin with.. Does he even know, can he even remember?
Yes. Nobody’s fingers are straight. I learned this from spending countless hours in art school figure drawing and studying the anatomy of the hand (they are still tough to draw).
We think our fingers are straight because it’s a shortcut our mind takes to describe what something looks like. Just like you think a sidewalk tile is a square even though from your perspective it’s really a trapezoid.
Short answer: All fingers are at leas slightly curved.
I’m pretty sure you’re just trolling here but why are you trying to contradict someone who has stated they have deeply studied human hand shapes by falsely stating all of you and your wives fingers are straight. It’s just very strange behavior.
Not trolling, just telling my experience. Our fingers are straight, with no bend detected. I don't care if i get downvoted, i'm being honest. Maybe my wife and I are the straight-fingered freaks?
Every digit of your fingers are precisely straight? I'm not suggesting they are less straight than OP, hes an outlier but look closely... If they are literally measurably straight then yeah you are an outlier.
I'm both double jointed in my thumbs and to a degree both index fingers but not from playing. Many years ago (think eons) I was in great shape and could do two finger pushups. Now... not so much... It's Hell getting old.
Mine do. But I don't know how to attach a photo in a comment. I think it's fairly normal to see this when your hands are in this position. I read an interview with Larry Carlton where he said his right hand was like this from years of holding a pick, but IMHO it's just the way his fingers are.
They age like that when you use your fingers a lot from like sitting at the computer or any other type of hobby/work. Also we get weaker in our pinkies because of this, brain take short cut only using 2 fingies.
yep… even worse to be honest and no it’s never been an issue, I do get a weird callous shape on my left index which I think is because if Barre chords but it’s just a callous.
A little bit. Also, my pinky on my fretting hand turns inward while bending. So when I hold the neck the tip of my pinky bumps into the tip of my ring finger. I don't care, played for a years and I still play well enough to get paid every so often.
Yup. Plus my pinkies turn in about 20 degrees on the last knuckle. Index finger not a hindrance for me, but my pinky gets caught against my ring finger a little sometimes (I'm not good, but it's not because of my fingers).
I’ve been playing guitar for 60+ years and I always believed that my middle fingers curved this way from playing the instrument. I’ve also noticed the index finger on my right hand seems rotated very slightly to the right possible due to finger style playing?
Yeah and it gets really weird when you go down the rabbit hole. If you Google it you might find out a few things about yourself and the things you do that you may have never noticed but supposedly it all goes back to fetal development and we're a "type" of people. Good shit...sort of.
I’m more interested in the difference in length between your index and middle fingers! My fingers don’t curve, but my index fingers end about halfway up the nail on my middle fingers.
I have crooked pinkies never really thought much about it.. then when I did my ancestry DNA I found out that my dad's mom's Maiden name meant crooked bone finger or pinky we had no idea our crooked pinkies were hereditary lol! Maybe yours is too!

Ohhhhh that’s why this troubles me! Never connected it.
How was this picture taken
What do you mean? I took the picture with my eyes

Isn't that annoying?

Bro I was with my mom watching movies last night there is no way you fucked her
You aren't my daddy
That's the real question here.

That's the real question here.
oh man here we go again
I think he used head to do it
Google glasses are back baby !
Mine do
Yes. It's not uncommon. Probably the same for your toes.

Wrong, both me and my wife have perfectly straight fingers. I find OP's pic slightly disturbing.
I’m pretty sure you’re just trolling here but why are you trying to contradict someone who has stated they have deeply studied human hand shapes by falsely stating all of you and your wives fingers are straight. It’s just very strange behavior.

Mine do. It has never affected my playing.
I thought everyone was like this
Yes, but mine were bound and molded by my parents, who are both semi-aquatic.
Get him, he's a mutant!!!
Ever seen John 5’s hands?
Er, no I don’t have bunches of bananas for hands.
I'm both double jointed in my thumbs and to a degree both index fingers but not from playing. Many years ago (think eons) I was in great shape and could do two finger pushups. Now... not so much... It's Hell getting old.
Looks like the strings have been bending you instead of the other way around
Ye, both my pointers do. Not really sure that it hinders my guitar playing ability from what I can tell
Yup. Doesn't effect me much if at all.
Mine do, it's pretty common I think. I don't have any problems to play, so don't worry.

It’s not from playing guitar, it’s from soaking them in cider… Hehe 😜
They age like that when you use your fingers a lot from like sitting at the computer or any other type of hobby/work. Also we get weaker in our pinkies because of this, brain take short cut only using 2 fingies.
My fingers are perfectly straight. I am a computer developer of over 25 years, plus i play my ps console daily.
My son’s fingers look like that. He said he developed them from his constant use of his Nintendo Gameboy….
Yup!
My left middle finger does but that’s because I broke it at 13.
Yep! I only find a problem with acoustic, electric I have no problem with Barre chords.
Yes. Hasn’t changed anything that I can tell
yep… even worse to be honest and no it’s never been an issue, I do get a weird callous shape on my left index which I think is because if Barre chords but it’s just a callous.
I suspect it’s common
Mine do. Also pretty helpful in hitting the notoriously hard to find g-spot. Or so it seems from gf’s groans of xtc! 🤣🤣

Dude slays
Almost exactly the same as mine.
Yes, almost all of them. Wish I'd started learning when I was younger! 👍🏻🤟🏻😎
My index and middle finger on my fretting hand
I do, as do several members of my immediate family.
Yup. Plus my pinkies turn in about 20 degrees on the last knuckle. Index finger not a hindrance for me, but my pinky gets caught against my ring finger a little sometimes (I'm not good, but it's not because of my fingers).
Yep and I've always wondered why. My little toes are curved as well
Probably, but mine do not.
Only people with butt cancer. Sorry
I’ve been playing guitar for 60+ years and I always believed that my middle fingers curved this way from playing the instrument. I’ve also noticed the index finger on my right hand seems rotated very slightly to the right possible due to finger style playing?
Yup, my middle fingers practically point in opposite directions. It was never a problem for playing.
Mine do. They have my whole life. Never bothered me at all.
Yeah and it gets really weird when you go down the rabbit hole. If you Google it you might find out a few things about yourself and the things you do that you may have never noticed but supposedly it all goes back to fetal development and we're a "type" of people. Good shit...sort of.
Both my index fingers curve like that and have since birth. My right middle finger curves like that due to an injury.
I’m more interested in the difference in length between your index and middle fingers! My fingers don’t curve, but my index fingers end about halfway up the nail on my middle fingers.
Did you play a lot of video games growing up?
Only the middle finger on my left hand. Knuckle feels like a bad hinge as a result. Painful, but I still play anyways.
I have crooked pinkies never really thought much about it.. then when I did my ancestry DNA I found out that my dad's mom's Maiden name meant crooked bone finger or pinky we had no idea our crooked pinkies were hereditary lol! Maybe yours is too!
Yea
this gon be on r/guitarcirclejerk 💀
Hey. We’re related.
Me! Pinkies tho. My Dad has the same.
This is normal, the real trouble comes in with crooked elbows.
Ask Roberta
Ask Roberta
only my index lol
My fingers are just like yours haha
